A type of sentence that
gives advice or instructions
that express request or
command.
Typically begins with the
base form of a verb.
PositiveImperative
•Use the base form of the verb
•Use the term “always”
Examples: read, listen, put, cut, sing
1. Read the story.
2. Listen to the music.
3. Put all the things inside your bag.
4. Cut the rope.
5. Sing a song for them.
NegativeImperative
•Use “Do not + base form of the
Verb”
Examples:
•Do not come here.
•Do not eat that.
•Don’t lean on the glass.
•Don’t speak Filipino in the English
Class.
•Don’t stay there.
