17. Have regular meetings with your boss
• Meet with your boss to let him/her know how things are going or
if there is any confusion on your part.
18. Network, network, network!
• Making connections at work is a great opportunity to build
professional connections.
• Update your job title on Social Media and connect with new co-
workers in the digital space.

Tatiana’s first day at work is tomorrow. She’s
nervous because she doesn’t know if she should
dress casually or a little more formal.

During Samsun's first day on the job, another employee
began to speak negatively about a fellow worker.
Case Study 3
Adel was given a task to do on his second day at work,
but he is not exactly sure about how to get started.

Tomas has been working at his company for 3 weeks now.
He has always arrived on time and left at the prescribed
time. Now though, he has made friends with another
employee who always leaves work 5-10 minutes early.
Today he wants Tomas to walk to the bus with him.

Jorge has been at his company for 5 weeks now. One
colleague in particular has gone to great lengths to help
him “learn the ropes”.
