ACTIVITY 5:

Topic: Eating Habits & Traditional Dishes.
Pre-Task: Questionnaire.
1_Suppose you have special guests for dinner this weekend:
a- When/how do you invite them?
b- What dish are you going to prepare for them?
c- How much time are you going to spend preparing it?
d- How long does the meal last?
e- How long do you expect your guests to stay at your house?
2_During the week:
a- Which are the most frequent dishes you eat?
b- Do you eat bread with all the meals?
c- Do you watch TV during the meals?
3_ Are there some dishes that you can eat without using cutlery?
4_ Do you usually use napkins while eating?
Task:
• In Argentina, a traditional dish is “alfajores” :
A_ Describe alfajores.
B_Say if there are different types according to the regions where they are made.
C_ In which occasions do you eat alfajores?
D_ Watch the following video which shows how alfajores are made.

Follow up activities
Choose one of the following options:
A_ Think of another Argentinian traditional dish and describe it in detail providing pictures,
recipes, videos if you find, say in which occasions do you eat it and add any extra information you
consider important.
2. B_Here in Argentina, the most typical dish is asado. The British Language Assistant will present
their most representative dishes. Compare and contrast them taking into account: the time it
takes to prepare them, how they are prepared, how reagularly/ on which occasions it is eaten.
