Frankenstein Essay
Plot Summary The story of Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley starts off with Robert Walton writing a letter to his sister (Mrs. Saville) who lives in
England. He is the captain of a ship and the book is outlined by series of letters as well as narrated parts too. His ship is headed to the North Pole and
lots of his letters describe how dangerous his trip is as well as what he is up to at the time. However, the book is narrated by VictorFrankenstein who is
Genevese and born into a nice family.
Victor is a person who was always interested in learning more and discovering new things and this is what lead him to go to the university of
Ingolstadt. When speaking of his childhood he describes his father as someone who "filled public situations with honour and reputation" and Robert
meets him while he is on his voyage. As the story progresses, Robert and his ship get trapped in a seastorm and this is where they eventually meet
Victor who has been chasing his creation (the monster). This leads to him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

from a very good family and has a good friend as well as sister in the book. Elisabeth, is his adopted sister that eventually becomes his wife and she
is one of the people who writes to him letting him know what is going on at home. Next is Henry Clerval who is mainly just Victor's friend and
companion at school. Lastly, is Justine who was mentioned before as the other adopted sister of Victor who was found guilty of murdering his brother
William. These are the important characters in the book that help outline the main themes and

Journal Entries Study Guide
This journal entry will mainly be focusing on chapter 4 which is about summarizing. Each journal entry is about different chapters but when
writing these entries, it gives a good understanding of each of the chapters and what specifically we have learned from the chapters. Summarizing
is used throughout your career and in every aspect of your life while you read anything. People summarize topics and articles all the time. In my
opinion, I feel reading a summery is easily and faster than reading an entire book article. You can get a good and core understand of any topic
quickly just by reading a summary. People also usually summarize everything; not only is summaries used in books but it is also used in movies
and shows to give us a mini summery of what the movie or television show is mainly about without having to watch the whole movie or show. I
know for myself, I have read up on a lot of summaries for previous televisions shows that I might have missed so that I can catch on to the present
episodes. Summaries can also be used at work when you are trying to help someone understand and teach a specific topic and not have them go through
reading and understanding pages. Now, how to write a summary becomes the difficult part. Not everyone knows how to write a summery or how to
summarize topics. It becomes difficult for people to read a whole article, book, or chapters and have to summarize them into a 1–2 page paper
explaining the main concepts and ideas. There are a lot of

Plot Summary Of The Story 'The Locket'
The story of The locket is set during the civil war which was fought between the slave states of the south and the free states of the north. The war
lasted from 1841 to 1865, it was a time of great bloodshed and losses, separation was one of the greatest causes of the war and one of the major
themes of the story, Edmond, the main character and his wife Octavie love each other dearly and don't want to be apart from each other, but Edmond
is called away to serve in the civil war, before he goes Octavie gives him a locket for him to take with him when he goes, it will help Edmond
always remember that he has something to live for, someone to go back, separation is hard, but the the only cure is time. The setting at the beginning
of the story is at a slope of a hill during the civil war, the setting later switches to central Louisiana. The Locket is a story that creates moments of
sadness and despair but ends with a surprising ending. Miracles can happen when you least expect them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Suspense was created when the men were called to battle, in war you never know if you will come back alive or wont come back at all, we didn't
know if Edmond was going to live through this war or not until the dead soldier wearing the locket was found, that's when a someone reading the
story would presume the main character has been killed and you don't what the climax of the story is. The theme of lost and suffering is shown
greatly toward the end of the story. Octavie, Edmond's wife takes the news of his death very seriously, she is greatly affected by the loss of her love,
and doesn't understand why the world continues to go around her, unaffected by her sadness. The suspense created by Edmond's supposed death, and
Octavie's grief resulted in me being pretty surprised when Edmond was alive at the end of the

Plot Summary Of Alexander Hamilton
Hamilton The story of Alexander Hamilton begins with Aaron Burr asking how a poor orphan from the Caribbean can rise up to be a scholar and a
prominent figure in American history. As a child from a broken marriage and an orphan after his mother died, Hamilton did not want his troubled past
to define him. This led him to strive for excellence and fight for what he believed in despite the descent of his colleagues. The first song in act one that
is titled Alexander Hamilton, coincidentally is sung by all the main characters that contrast Hamilton. The characters in the play that are telling
Hamilton's past are Aaron Burr, John Laurens, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, George Washington, and his wife Eliza Hamilton. These people and

Burr– "The immigrant emerges with unprecedented financial power, a system he can shape however he wants. The Virginians emerge with the
nation's capital. And here's the piece of resistance" (5.The Room Where It Happens, 9). In this line it is evident that Burr is envious of Hamilton
and his ability to get laws passed. Aaron Burr's character counter acts that of Hamilton's, because they both strive to complete the same thing yet
only one of them is willing to work for it and the other is waiting to see when their success will crumble so they can have the spotlight. Burr's
arrogant character like what it was in real life is exposed in a few scenes throughout the musical. In the beginning when he tried to prove his worth
to the Schuyler sisters by telling them he is a man with a big trust fund and when he denied Hamilton's accomplishments he is really questioning
why his wealth is not enough to have the same success. Hamilton's untimely death comes near the end of act two during a duel between him and
his foil, Aaron Burr. The duel is initiated by Burr after he gets word of Hamilton endorsing Thomas Jefferson. Burr believes he has planned to
sabotage his shot at presidency. Hamilton denied the claims made by Burr and stated that he did not want any blood shed from the disagreement and
stands by his choices, because they are what he believes is what is right for the country (20. Your Obedient Servant, 26). The duel scene is
significant, because Burr narrates the final moments of Hamilton's life by listing the details of the duel as he counts to ten. Then at ten Hamilton is
looking back on his life and coming to terms with death. This part of the story is ironic; because Hamilton is never hesitant and even though he could
have put an end to Burr's domineering ways, he could not bring him to take a life (22. The World Was Wide Enough, 27). Even though Hamilton
misses his shot, it shows more to his character as a

Hugh Hefner: Plot Summary
When a celebrity dies, it's common to see people form various opinions about the person's life while they were alive. This can be said about
Playboy founder Hugh Hefner's recent death. Opinions of Hefner seem to go one of two ways: the public seems to either idolize or criticize him.
Even if by some chance he was still here, there's always going to be varying opinions on him. At the end of the day, he was about the empire he
created. Typically, men are the ones who idolize his lavish lifestyle of having beautiful women and lots of money. However, women think that his
views on women are sexist and outdated. After all, the peak of Playboy was in the 70's, a time when sexual revolution and feminism were at a high.
Feminists and anti–feminists... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the article, former Playboy bunny Kathryn Leigh Scott expresses that she enjoyed her job. She claims she was "earning very good money in a very
safe environment". Basically, what Scott is saying is while Playboy has a reputation for exploiting women, some people don't realize that these women
had their own opinions.
On the other hand, there's women like Gloria Steinem, who went undercover as a bunny for an article. As a proclaimed feminist, it made sense people
agreed with what she had to say. Like Scott, she had her ideas of what Playboy was about. However, Steinem chose to not respond to Hefner'sdeath. Is
she afraid she would upset him or his family? The most likely case is that she had something negative to say.
Sometimes, people learn more about someone after they die. This definitely applies to celebrities, as secrets can resurface or truths can be told. As
of right now, we haven't found any secret Playboy articles or new exposes. As stated before, it's clear that Hefner was about his empire. But what if
it's not for the reason we think? Was the spread of scantily clad women merely a ruse to hide something? Or was it really for the gratification of men?
Obviously, we can't ask Hefner

Bucket: Plot Summary
In Self Defense or, death of some salesmen I play Bucket, also known as David, who is an undercover cop. Bucket seems to me like a law abiding
cop who just wants peace and justice, and I feel that he is a caring individual but is torn by what he wants to happen at the end of the play. In the
last two scenes, Bucket has begun to feel doubtful about Jo Palmer's case because of her comments about the number of prostitute death rates.
Everyone talks about Jo like she is crazy and a liar but he, however, does not believe she is. Bucket goes through the files of the unsolved prostitute
murders and he realizes that maybe Jo is right and becomes more distinct with his colleagues. At one point toward the end of the play, he expresses
some bodily anger... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, the way that he carries himself is not too egotistical and more laid back, but I feel he knows how to make himself come across as someone
you do not need to betray. Most cops dress in uniform, however, I picture Bucket and Drums as the cops who wear suits and look more like
everyday people and because they are supposed to be undercover. Bucket delivers his lines with such seriousness it is hard to find a line that he has
been acting out, besides the scene earlier in the play where he and Drums are undercover and talking to Jo in the bar. Even then, he doesn't express
any playful dialogue with the other characters in the play so I see him as more of a solemn character but most cops act as serious as they need to be,
especially depending on what type of case it is. For example, in the scene with Jo where they are in her jail cell, we see the part of Bucket that we
only see a few times and even though he is still serious, we know that he does care and he talks to Jo as if he's known her for a long time. They speak
about him leaving the department because of her case and her feeling flattered, the prostitute murders that she possibly stopped, and part of Jo's

Sheila Mant: Plot Summary
Now that I have finished the story and know that the protagonist chooses the girl over the bass, I will be evaluating the character of Sheila Mant.
While reading this story, I have found Sheila to be both rude and conceited. To begin, Sheila is patently rude. One notion that supports this is how she
acts during the date with the boy. During the date, she is standoffish and disinterested, reluctant to get into the boat with him and having a face that
"had on its delightful fullness a very dubious expression" (Wetherell 2). She makes little attempt at conversation, and when she does, it is only to talk
about herself. The whole ordeal seems to bore her. Even if she is not the most thrilled at the idea of being on a date with the protagonist, she did not

Another sign of Sheila being rude is how she blatantly insults fishing during the date. One could argue that she did not know that the protagonist liked
to fish, but that is highly unlikely. She knows that he owns a canoe, swims often, and knows an excessive amount of information about fishing and
bass. It can be inferenced that she at least had an idea of his interests. Even if she was not sure, she outright says that she thinks fishing is boring and
dumb, which is an abrupt and ill–mannered statement to say at all, not just to those that like to do it. Considering that the protagonist himself loves to
fish, it becomes completely insulting and insensitive. The last reason Sheila can be considered rude is by what she did at the end of the date. After the
main character brings her to a concert, having rowed her there by canoe himself, she leaves in another boy's car. Not only that, but the last words she
says to him is "You're a funny kid, you know that?" (Wetherell 5). Once again this displays how little Sheila cares about her date, and how easy she is
to chuck him aside for

Notes On The Scatter Plot Summary
Notes on the Scatter Plots
The different vowel qualities are noted by the color on the scatter plot. For words that have multiple monophthongs, the underlined vowel is the one
being plotted at that particular point.
Monophthong Observations One immediately striking feature of my realizations of these monophthongs is my fronting of the close back vowel [u]. This
vowel, present in (–– removed HTML ––) and (–– removed HTML ––) , has shifted to a position that is more front than the near–close back vowel
[КЉ], and more front than even the central mid vowels [Й™] and [Йђ]. We discussed this possible [u] fronting in class, and from these particular
samples, I think it would not be absurd to say that the vowel I have for (–– removed HTML ––) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The vowel now has a F2–F1 value similar to the central vowels, and ends up being less front.
R–Colored Vowel Observations After plotting the data on the R–Colored Vowels, I realized that what I titled my series didn't quite match up with the
actual values of the formants. As such, I changed what symbols I used for the different vowel qualities. For instance, the lab report guide suggested
that the vowel in (–– removed HTML ––) was [ЙЄ]. Yet my recorded F2–F1 axis value for (–– removed HTML ––) (2210) was higher in comparison
to the words with a monophthong [ЙЄ] (1625–1870), and therefore more fronted. I then titled the series [iЙ№] to reflect this frontness, There was a
similar situation with the vowel in (–– removed HTML ––) and (–– removed HTML ––) . I compared the F1 values in this series to the F1 values of
the [Й›] vowel, which should be at the same height as [Й”]. The F1 value of the (–– removed HTML ––) value was higher by a degree of two hundred
Hz. For a second check, I looked at the Assignment 4 packet, which had a plot of American English vowels. The F1 listed for the[Й”] vowel was 550
Hz, which was again much higher than my recorded vowels for (–– removed HTML ––) and (–– removed HTML ––) . I then determined that at least
for r–coloring, I use an [o] vowel. Some generalities present themselves as well for the r–colored vowels. For instance, the entire y–axis appears to
have a smaller range, with values going from 300–700 Hz, as

Turkle: Plot Summary
A number two pencil and a lined composition book was all that was needed for school – that is until, I attempted to help my younger brother with his
i–math online program. Education went from paper and pencil to a mouse and a computer. Paper was useless and spreadsheets were the new things.
Handwriting became that of the past and technology replaced it with facilitated methods. This has caused a modern change to such an extent, that we
are majorly dependent on an online interaction, prompting a technology–absorbed society. Nevertheless, people are less susceptible to confrontations
because their attention is fixed to an online communication, where they are said to be virtually connected but find themselves solo. As it turns out,

Turkle uses her input as a psychologist, to point that technology "appeals to us most where we are most vulnerable. And we are vulnerable. We are
lonely, but we're afraid of intimacy." She argues that we look upon our phone's use because we feel lonely and do not accept solitude as a good thing.
We turn to technology when we want to avoid social awkwardness and rather control our conversations. This said, Turkle ponders that an individual's
attempt to avoid isolation by then again being isolated on their devices, is unfitting to the situation. On the other hand, Carral persists that people
should not be deemed for their actions of simply communicating online. He goes on to say "people should be able to interact with whomever they
please without being judged by people for using their smartphones to do so." It is without question that people should not be told with who to
communicate. Carral stands by the notion that our desire to communicate with those online does not cause us to be isolated; it rather means we want to
socialize with that particular

Plot Summary Of The Movie The Castle
Introduction: The Castle, directed by Robert Sitch and produced in 1997, is arguably one of the greatest Australian movies ever created. It is a
peculiar, boorish and above all, humorous film, that is loved by most Australians. With great use of trademark Aussie humour, amateur camera work
and Australian stereotyping, the movie can be very relatable to Australian viewers, typically those of the blue–collar working–class level. Even with
light–hearted humour that could be taken offensively, and seen as a 'dig at Australian culture, in my opinion, the Castle portrays the typical Australian

Australian ideologies and values, which most Australians can relate to. His home is his Castle that he is proud of and has worked hard for and won't
give up. Acting and Characterisations: Darryl Kerrigan (Michael Caton), the actor who plays the role of the father in the Kerrigan family fantastically,
contributing to the high degree the film's success. His role incorporates the appearance, behaviors, and traits, that most Aussies can relate to. Darryl is
the illustrious face of the Kerrigan family in the movie, possessing the usual Australian attributes of being devoted, diligent and very family orientated.
M.C's character is acted out greatly, enabling the worldwide audience to relate to the obstacles the family faces and the battling journey they endure to

Plot Summary Of The Play 'Machinal'
The play "Machinal" was unlike any I have ever seen before. As I was reading the play brochure before the play started, I realized this may be a
dark, twisted production. To some extent, it was. A young woman who still lives with her mother works in an office. Her boss, George H. Jones, wants
to marry her; however, the woman does not really love him, but marries him anyways. They have a child together shortly after. Later in the play, the
woman meets a man her age at a bar from a mutual friend. She has an affair with the younger man. While she is with the man, he admits to having
killed someone in Mexico. She asks him to elaborate and he says he placed tiny stones in a wine bottle to use as a weapon. It was lethal enough that it
killed the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mrs. Jones is like any woman–she wants to be loved. She felt like she needed to take care of her mother, though, and this could be achieved if she
married George. Though he was not her 'dream man', he could offer her (and her mother) an arrangement that she would not be able to get
otherwise. The fact that the woman married George H. Jones for her mother was very considerate. As the play progressed, the woman began to get
more annoyed with her husband each time he spoke. During the scene before the bar scene, I had a slight instinct that some sort of infidelity
would happen, and it did. I believe that once Mrs. Jones learned about the stones and the bottle from her young lover, she could not remove the
idea from her brain. Though she claims she killed her husband so she could be 'free' from him, I am not sure how she had the audacity to murder
him in cold blood. During the trial, I felt the young woman would never succumb to admitting she did the deed since she was so routine whenever
she was asked if she murdered him. Finally, the straw that broke the camel's back was when the letter from the young lover was read. To be perfectly
honest, I was shocked that he recorded their affair. I also thought to myself, "How could he have done this to

Plot Summary: Lord Of The Flies
Entering Monday night's matchup with the shorthanded Memphis Grizzlies, Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue knew his team would
have a challenge in front of them. The Grizzlies were without key players Mike Conley, Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol, while also missing four
other players from their regular rotation. Lue, however, knew the contest with Memphis would be no walk in the park. "It's always dangerous
because we tend to let our guard down," Lue said just before tipoff. "We've done that a few times this year, and every time their stars and key guys sit
out, we tend to take a step backwards and kind of relax a little bit." Lue's fears came to fruition Monday night. After sleepwalking through three–plus

The Mailroom Plot Summary
The stories in David Rensin's book, The Mailroom: Hollywood History From the Bottom Up, are exciting, intriguing and perfectly suited for reality
television. The book, which is comprised of interviews with over 200 mailroom graduates from some of the biggest Hollywood talent agencies, reveals
the not–so–glamorous lives of mailroom assistants in the most glamorous industry in the world (Rensin). These mailroom clerks are young, motivated,
and competitive individuals who aspire to be Hollywood agents making millions. Such driven and aggressive people would make for excellent reality
stars. Due to the combination of business–oriented tasks and out–of–office drama, The Mailroom is the result of The Apprentice meeting Vanderpump
Rules.
Although the clerks are in competition to get promoted, there is much more that goes on beyond the mailroom. This series is not structured as a
competition show because this would limit the story from capturing the drama outside the office, which includes blossoming friendships, romance, and
conflict between strong personalities. In particular, the love lives of the mailroom clerks are "somewhat incestuous," according to Nir Caspi, a
packaging agent at United Talent Agency, which would intrigue viewers of shows like The Hills and Vanderpump Rules. Therefore, unlike The
Apprentice, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

enjoy familiarity with the cast while also appreciating the fresh perspectives of new cast

with his supernatural strength. A couple of farmers found him and adopted him and raised him.
As Hercules grew up, he never really fit in and he was considered a freak. Hercules was extremely strong and clumsy, which was not a good mix.
He often ruined things and destroyed things on accident. One day he set everyone off the edge and his parents told him about his roots and where he
was really from. Hercules went to Zeus and tried to talk to him, thinking that he didn't want him as a son. Zeus told him about the situation and what

Plot Summary Of 'The Miller's Tale'
The Miller's Tale" tells a story of Allison, her husband John, her mister Nicholas and her admirer Absolon. The story begins by introducing John as a
rich, mean–spirited, jealous carpenter. (80–81) Next, Nicholas is introduced as a poor student of astrology who was courteous, handy, sly and knew
about secret love and pleasure. (91–93) Allison is then described as an eighteen year old, gentle, beautiful and sexually desired young wife. Absolon is
described as a prudish, musical, happy assistant to the parish priest. These descriptions set the pace for the story to unfold.
The story focuses around Allison, the wife of the carpenter who indulges in adulterous acts outside of her marriage. I believe Chaucer honed in on her
beauty and sexually desirable appearance to pave the way for her to become the butt of the humor in the story. Rather than showcasing her beauty as a
positive, he's trying to show the negative aspect of her beauty that was used to attract another suitor and become the adulterous young woman that is
made fun of at the end of the story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This negative description was justified due to the outcome of the story and how the affair unfolded between his wife and Nicholas but, I believe it
may have also been Chaucer's way of showing that there was reason for Allison to stray from her marriage. John was depicted as a jealous and
controlling man and was in turn hurt because of it but, in the end he came out on top with his business booming after the branding of his wife's

A Summary Of The Gunpowder Plot
Remember, remember, the fifth of November; we all know the rhyme but how well do we really know the story? In the essay I will explore how
the plotters were punished and why they were punished so severely. Before you can explore the punishments, you first have to know the story. The
Gunpowder Plot started on May 20th 1604; however, the reasons behind the plot started many years prior to that. In fact, the entire reason behind
the plot dated back to Henry VIII, when religious turmoil broke out. You could say, all hell broke loose. It all started when Henry made his break
from Rome to allow him to divorce his wife, Catherine of Aragon. This made England a Protestant country which many didn't like, or rather, hated.
This turmoil continued for many years, as the next king, Edward, kept Protestantism whilst Mary, the following monarch, (also known as Bloody
Mary) changed the national religion back to Catholicism and took her religion to further extremes by burning Protestants. Upon Mary's death
Elizabeth I took the reigns and, yet again, switched the religion. She also persecuted those who didn't follow the same religion as her, as she made it
illegal to be a Catholic and illegal to go to a non–Protestant Church. James VI of Scotland came to the throne next and he, despite thoughts that he
might have been kinder to Catholics, kept the aforementioned Recuncansy Laws. The country was a mess. This is where the plot we know so well
comes in. A man named Robert Catesby was fed up,

Constructio Larson: Plot Summary
"Six steam–powered dredges the size of floating barns gnawed at the lakeshore, as five thousand men with shovels and wheelbarrows and horse–drawn
graders slowly scraped the landscape raw, many of the men wearing bowlers and suitcoats as if they just happened to be passing by and on impulse
chose to pitch in." (Larson 129). Using descriptive diction and syntax, Larson conveys how much work and energy this world fair project required.
The manner of how "dredges the size of floating barns gnawed at the lakeshore" expresses how enormous the scale of the fair had been and how
intensely the workers had to be. Pace accelerating, the polysyndeton of "shovels and wheelbarrows and horse–drawn graders" drives a brisk rhythm to
indicate how nearly excessive the work was. Using the alliteration of "slowly scraped," Larson delays the pace to amplify the thoroughness of the...

The way princes "ran off with parlormaids" suggests a juvenile love that forms when parents and society disapproves of it which generates a little
drama to the reader before Larson begins to give more examples of different affairs. The manner in which "bank presidents seduced typewriters"
offers more mature prospect and "seduced" denotes a more surreptitious, more serious relationship to add more tension. By adding "when
necessary" and projecting a final example of an affair, Larson displays how enticing and potentially risky these involvements are, even to people
considered rational and professional like attorneys and doctors, to amplify the building drama. The parallelism of the list of scandalous affairs
emphasizes Larson's word choice of how Holmes "reveled" in his "possession" of a secluded woman in a faux innocuous affair demonstrates how

For example, Kate barely reacts when Alan told her that he used to "watch" Audrey, even though he admits it is creepy. Another example is the fact
that, despite wanting nothing to do with Henry, Corbin never expresses any signs of real guilt or remorse for the girls that he and Henry killed.
Furthermore, none of the tenants of Corbin's building seem nervous that someone was murdered in there apartment, they act as if everything is
completely normal. The story never really allows its character to evolve or display any humanizing qualities, which distances the reader.
BLOOD WE SHARE has enough interesting characters and scenes for compelling screenplay or possibly a three or four–part miniseries adaptation.
However, a lot of the text is lost insignificant details and the psychological cross–examination between the forces of good and evil in the novel, which
detracts from the narrative tension.
While the characters are engaging, the pacing robs the story of much its suspense. The result is a decent, but unremarkable suspense

He is the captain of a ship and the book is outlined by series of letters as well as narrated parts too. • 2. Journal Entries Study Guide This journal entry will mainly be focusing on chapter 4 which is about summarizing. Each journal entry is about different chapters but when writing these entries, it gives a good understanding of each of the chapters and what specifically we have learned from the chapters. Summarizing is used throughout your career and in every aspect of your life while you read anything. People summarize topics and articles all the time. In my opinion, I feel reading a summery is easily and faster than reading an entire book article. You can get a good and core understand of any topic quickly just by reading a summary. People also usually summarize everything; not only is summaries used in books but it is also used in movies and shows to give us a mini summery of what the movie or television show is mainly about without having to watch the whole movie or show. I know for myself, I have read up on a lot of summaries for previous televisions shows that I might have missed so that I can catch on to the present episodes. Summaries can also be used at work when you are trying to help someone understand and teach a specific topic and not have them go through reading and understanding pages. Now, how to write a summary becomes the difficult part. Not everyone knows how to write a summery or how to summarize topics. It becomes difficult for people to read a whole article, book, or chapters and have to summarize them into a 1–2 page paper explaining the main concepts and ideas. There are a lot of ... • 9. Plot Summary Of Alexander Hamilton Hamilton The story of Alexander Hamilton begins with Aaron Burr asking how a poor orphan from the Caribbean can rise up to be a scholar and a prominent figure in American history. As a child from a broken marriage and an orphan after his mother died, Hamilton did not want his troubled past to define him. This led him to strive for excellence and fight for what he believed in despite the descent of his colleagues. The first song in act one that is titled Alexander Hamilton, coincidentally is sung by all the main characters that contrast Hamilton. The characters in the play that are telling Hamilton's past are Aaron Burr, John Laurens, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, George Washington, and his wife Eliza Hamilton. These people and the song ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Burr– "The immigrant emerges with unprecedented financial power, a system he can shape however he wants. The Virginians emerge with the nation's capital. And here's the piece of resistance" (5.The Room Where It Happens, 9). In this line it is evident that Burr is envious of Hamilton and his ability to get laws passed. Aaron Burr's character counter acts that of Hamilton's, because they both strive to complete the same thing yet only one of them is willing to work for it and the other is waiting to see when their success will crumble so they can have the spotlight. Burr's arrogant character like what it was in real life is exposed in a few scenes throughout the musical. In the beginning when he tried to prove his worth to the Schuyler sisters by telling them he is a man with a big trust fund and when he denied Hamilton's accomplishments he is really questioning why his wealth is not enough to have the same success. Hamilton's untimely death comes near the end of act two during a duel between him and his foil, Aaron Burr. The duel is initiated by Burr after he gets word of Hamilton endorsing Thomas Jefferson. Burr believes he has planned to sabotage his shot at presidency. Hamilton denied the claims made by Burr and stated that he did not want any blood shed from the disagreement and stands by his choices, because they are what he believes is what is right for the country (20. Your Obedient Servant, 26). The duel scene is significant, because Burr narrates the final moments of Hamilton's life by listing the details of the duel as he counts to ten. Then at ten Hamilton is looking back on his life and coming to terms with death. This part of the story is ironic; because Hamilton is never hesitant and even though he could have put an end to Burr's domineering ways, he could not bring him to take a life (22. The World Was Wide Enough, 27). Even though Hamilton misses his shot, it shows more to his character as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the other hand, there's women like Gloria Steinem, who went undercover as a bunny for an article. As a proclaimed feminist, it made sense people agreed with what she had to say. Like Scott, she had her ideas of what Playboy was about. However, Steinem chose to not respond to Hefner'sdeath. Is she afraid she would upset him or his family? The most likely case is that she had something negative to say. Sometimes, people learn more about someone after they die. This definitely applies to celebrities, as secrets can resurface or truths can be told. As of right now, we haven't found any secret Playboy articles or new exposes. As stated before, it's clear that Hefner was about his empire. But what if it's not for the reason we think? Was the spread of scantily clad women merely a ruse to hide something? Or was it really for the gratification of men? Obviously, we can't ask Hefner ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bucket seems to me like a law abiding cop who just wants peace and justice, and I feel that he is a caring individual but is torn by what he wants to happen at the end of the play. In the last two scenes, Bucket has begun to feel doubtful about Jo Palmer's case because of her comments about the number of prostitute death rates. Everyone talks about Jo like she is crazy and a liar but he, however, does not believe she is. Bucket delivers his lines with such seriousness it is hard to find a line that he has been acting out, besides the scene earlier in the play where he and Drums are undercover and talking to Jo in the bar. Even then, he doesn't express any playful dialogue with the other characters in the play so I see him as more of a solemn character but most cops act as serious as they need to be, especially depending on what type of case it is. For example, in the scene with Jo where they are in her jail cell, we see the part of Bucket that we only see a few times and even though he is still serious, we know that he does care and he talks to Jo as if he's known her for a long time. • 16. Sheila Mant: Plot Summary Now that I have finished the story and know that the protagonist chooses the girl over the bass, I will be evaluating the character of Sheila Mant. While reading this story, I have found Sheila to be both rude and conceited. To begin, Sheila is patently rude. One notion that supports this is how she acts during the date with the boy. During the date, she is standoffish and disinterested, reluctant to get into the boat with him and having a face that "had on its delightful fullness a very dubious expression" (Wetherell 2). She makes little attempt at conversation, and when she does, it is only to talk about herself. The whole ordeal seems to bore her. Another sign of Sheila being rude is how she blatantly insults fishing during the date. One could argue that she did not know that the protagonist liked to fish, but that is highly unlikely. She knows that he owns a canoe, swims often, and knows an excessive amount of information about fishing and bass. It can be inferenced that she at least had an idea of his interests. Even if she was not sure, she outright says that she thinks fishing is boring and dumb, which is an abrupt and ill–mannered statement to say at all, not just to those that like to do it. Considering that the protagonist himself loves to fish, it becomes completely insulting and insensitive. The last reason Sheila can be considered rude is by what she did at the end of the date. After the main character brings her to a concert, having rowed her there by canoe himself, she leaves in another boy's car. Not only that, but the last words she says to him is "You're a funny kid, you know that?" (Wetherell 5). For words that have multiple monophthongs, the underlined vowel is the one being plotted at that particular point. Monophthong Observations One immediately striking feature of my realizations of these monophthongs is my fronting of the close back vowel [u]. This vowel, present in (–– removed HTML ––) and (–– removed HTML ––) , has shifted to a position that is more front than the near–close back vowel [КЉ], and more front than even the central mid vowels [Й™] and [Йђ]. We discussed this possible [u] fronting in class, and from these particular samples, I think it would not be absurd to say that the vowel I have for (–– removed HTML ––) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The vowel now has a F2–F1 value similar to the central vowels, and ends up being less front. R–Colored Vowel Observations After plotting the data on the R–Colored Vowels, I realized that what I titled my series didn't quite match up with the actual values of the formants. As such, I changed what symbols I used for the different vowel qualities. For instance, the lab report guide suggested that the vowel in (–– removed HTML ––) was [ЙЄ]. Yet my recorded F2–F1 axis value for (–– removed HTML ––) (2210) was higher in comparison to the words with a monophthong [ЙЄ] (1625–1870), and therefore more fronted. I then titled the series [iЙ№] to reflect this frontness, There was a similar situation with the vowel in (–– removed HTML ––) and (–– removed HTML ––) . I compared the F1 values in this series to the F1 values of the [Й›] vowel, which should be at the same height as [Й”]. The F1 value of the (–– removed HTML ––) value was higher by a degree of two hundred Hz. For a second check, I looked at the Assignment 4 packet, which had a plot of American English vowels. The F1 listed for the[Й”] vowel was 550 Hz, which was again much higher than my recorded vowels for (–– removed HTML ––) and (–– removed HTML ––) . I then determined that at least for r–coloring, I use an [o] vowel. Some generalities present themselves as well for the r–colored vowels. Turkle: Plot Summary A number two pencil and a lined composition book was all that was needed for school – that is until, I attempted to help my younger brother with his i–math online program. Education went from paper and pencil to a mouse and a computer. Paper was useless and spreadsheets were the new things. Handwriting became that of the past and technology replaced it with facilitated methods. This has caused a modern change to such an extent, that we are majorly dependent on an online interaction, prompting a technology–absorbed society. We turn to technology when we want to avoid social awkwardness and rather control our conversations. This said, Turkle ponders that an individual's attempt to avoid isolation by then again being isolated on their devices, is unfitting to the situation. On the other hand, Carral persists that people should not be deemed for their actions of simply communicating online. He goes on to say "people should be able to interact with whomever they please without being judged by people for using their smartphones to do so." The story begins by introducing John as a rich, mean–spirited, jealous carpenter. (80–81) Next, Nicholas is introduced as a poor student of astrology who was courteous, handy, sly and knew about secret love and pleasure. (91–93) Allison is then described as an eighteen year old, gentle, beautiful and sexually desired young wife. Absolon is described as a prudish, musical, happy assistant to the parish priest. These descriptions set the pace for the story to unfold. The story focuses around Allison, the wife of the carpenter who indulges in adulterous acts outside of her marriage. I believe Chaucer honed in on her beauty and sexually desirable appearance to pave the way for her to become the butt of the humor in the story. • 30. A Summary Of The Gunpowder Plot Remember, remember, the fifth of November; we all know the rhyme but how well do we really know the story? In the essay I will explore how the plotters were punished and why they were punished so severely. Before you can explore the punishments, you first have to know the story. The Gunpowder Plot started on May 20th 1604; however, the reasons behind the plot started many years prior to that. In fact, the entire reason behind the plot dated back to Henry VIII, when religious turmoil broke out. You could say, all hell broke loose. It all started when Henry made his break from Rome to allow him to divorce his wife, Catherine of Aragon. This made England a Protestant country which many didn't like, or rather, hated. This turmoil continued for many years, as the next king, Edward, kept Protestantism whilst Mary, the following monarch, (also known as Bloody Mary) changed the national religion back to Catholicism and took her religion to further extremes by burning Protestants. Upon Mary's death Elizabeth I took the reigns and, yet again, switched the religion. She also persecuted those who didn't follow the same religion as her, as she made it illegal to be a Catholic and illegal to go to a non–Protestant Church. James VI of Scotland came to the throne next and he, despite thoughts that he might have been kinder to Catholics, kept the aforementioned Recuncansy Laws. The country was a mess. Constructio Larson: Plot Summary "Six steam–powered dredges the size of floating barns gnawed at the lakeshore, as five thousand men with shovels and wheelbarrows and horse–drawn graders slowly scraped the landscape raw, many of the men wearing bowlers and suitcoats as if they just happened to be passing by and on impulse chose to pitch in." (Larson 129). Using descriptive diction and syntax, Larson conveys how much work and energy this world fair project required. The manner of how "dredges the size of floating barns gnawed at the lakeshore" expresses how enormous the scale of the fair had been and how intensely the workers had to be. Pace accelerating, the polysyndeton of "shovels and wheelbarrows and horse–drawn graders" drives a brisk rhythm to indicate how nearly excessive the work was. By adding "when necessary" and projecting a final example of an affair, Larson displays how enticing and potentially risky these involvements are, even to people considered rational and professional like attorneys and doctors, to amplify the building drama. The parallelism of the list of scandalous affairs emphasizes Larson's word choice of how Holmes "reveled" in his "possession" of a secluded woman in a faux innocuous affair demonstrates how Julia was just a mere toy to him that belongs to him "as if she were an antebellum slave" for his amusement and use which elevates the tensions the reader feels ...
