The secondLearningTeaching andTrainingprogram andthe secondTransnational Meeting
was heldinPolandbetween16th
and 21st
May 2016. The participantsinthismeetingwere
22 studentsplus18 teachersfromthe foreigncountries,aswell asthe studentsfromPoland
and the teachers fromPoland. Students’ accommodationwasofferedbyPolishstudents’
families.
GIPIPEC,our mascot,travelled fromPortugal toitsnextdestination Poland
The program of activitieswasorganizedby the Polishschool andplannedin the best
possible waybythe Polishcoordinator(GrâzynaToucholska).
Furthermore, all ourvisitsinWarsaw aimedat facilitatingthe teamstogatherthe needed
informationfortheirprojectsaccordingto the topicstheyhad previouslystudied.
As a result, the teamswere formedonthe firstdayof the schedule withthe coordinator’s
helpafterthe 1st meetingheldamongthem.
The differenttopics whichwere createdare as follows:
ARCHITECTURE: Architects,stainedglass makers,sculptors,interiordesigners,historians,
photographers
THEATRE, MYTHS and LEGENDS: Actors,cameramen,graphicdesigners,makeupartists,
soundrecorders,script writers, puppetmakers…
FABRICSand COSTUMESCostume designers,fabricdesigner’s jewelers,tailors, shoemakers,
historians…
SCULPTURE: Artists, painters, lightoperators,sculptors,carpenters,glassmakers,
ceramists…

Monday, 16th May 2016
A bigclassroomwasprovidedbythe school forall the teachersinvolvedinourmeeting
duringthe week.
School’smanagementorganizedour welcoming.The headmistresstogetherwithher
principal’steamandGrâzynawelcomedall the participatingteachersandstudentsintheir
traditional custom.They offered usapiece of breadwithsaltas an indication of hosting
fromtheircountry.
Afterthat all participantsvisitedthe differentMuseumsthe Polishstudents preparedin
differentclassrooms: Music, Geography, Religion, Jobs,Science,Folk Traditions,etc.
Start of the visits
We workedindifferent groupsaccordingtospecificactivitieslikefindingphotographs or
replyingtoparticularquestionsduringthe meeting. Everysingle grouphadtostart working
on that particulartopictheyhadbeenassignedusingvariousaidssuchasphotographs,
tablets,the team’sname, etc.
Later we visitedthe Palace of Culture.We were givenaguidedtourbothinthe exterior and
the interiorof thisimpressive buildinglocatedinthe centre of Warsaw.

The Palace ofCulture and Science
The Palace of Culture andScience wasbuiltbetween1952 and 1955; itwas a "giftof the
Sovietpeopletothe Polishnation",offeredbyJosephStalinhimself.The architectwasLew
Rudniew.The Palace isthe highestbuildinginPoland,standingat237 m (whichis42 floors)
withan area of 817,000 m2 and has over3,000 rooms,includingoffices,institution
headquarters,twoprivate universitiesandthe PolishAcademyof Sciences.Moreover,the
Palace has a postoffice,cinema,swimmingpool,museums,librariesandtheaters.The
palace isone of the largestconference facilitiesinWarsaw,comfortablyaccommodating
more than 4,500 participantsata time,at dozensof meetingsandtrainingconferences
annually.
On the same day, on the school premisesthere isadininghall /cafeteriatocoverthe needs
of the studentsinthatschool.We were offeredareallyspecial dinnerfromthe traditional
Polishcuisine.Ourcolleagues honored usbyindividuallypreparingspecial dishes.
Tuesday, 17th May 2016
The secondday of workingon the project.
A cohesion dynamicgame waspresented byourcolleagues Ireland:
"Princess Uwagawaga is dead."
Afterlunchwe visitedthe ContemporaryArtMuseum,where teamswere dividedinto2big
groupsaccording to the topicstheyhadworkedon.There were differentactivitiesforeach
individualgroup inordertodraw and brainstorminformationandideas.
Afterthat we visitedthe OldTownof Warsaw where the teamswere tryingtodiscover
interestingspotswiththe assistance of photographs,cluesandquestions alreadygivento

them. A tour in the city’salleystoexplore the astonishingmonumentsorsightswithgreat
studentsandteachers'enthusiasm.
Old town
The Old Townwas establishedinthe 13thcentury.Initiallysurroundedbyanearthwork
rampart, priorto 1339 it wasfortifiedwithbrick citywalls.The townoriginallygrew up
aroundthe castle of the Dukesof Mazoviathat laterbecame the Royal Castle.The Market
Square (Rynek StaregoMiasta) waslaidoutsometime inthe late 13th or early14th century,
alongthe mainroad linkingthe castle withthe New Town tothe north.
Wednesday, 18th May 2016
A group cohesion dynamicgame waspresentedbythe Cypriotteam:WaterSponge
Resumingworkof the teamson the school groundsontopicsalreadyassigned.
A visit to the Technical UniversityofWarsaw.
We learntaboutlaserscanningin3D modeling –presentationbyRyszard SzpunarPhD at
the Facultyof GeodesyandCartographyof Warsaw Universityof Technology.
Later we visitedKazienki park,one of the most beautiful andpicturesque parksinthe city.
Like before,the whole groupwas dividedinto2smalleronesaccordingtothe topicswe had
alreadyparticipatedin.

There were 2 workshopsforthe groups:The royal theatre ,this workshopwasforthe
groupsconnectedwith THEATRE, SCULPTURE/ART and ARCHITECTURE.
The palace on the isle,thisworkshopwasforthe groups: JOBS, MUSIC/POETRY,
COSTUMES.
Kazienki harminggardenscheme owesitsemergence asitspresentshape andappearance
mainlytothe last rulerof the Polish-LithuanianCommonwealth,KingStanisław August
Poniatowski (StanisławIIAugustus).Inthe mid-16thcentury,itbecame partof the estatesof
Poland’sItalian bornQueen BonaSforza,whobuiltawoodenmanorhouse withanItalian
gardenon thissite.Later,the woodenmanorhouse of Queen AnnaJagiellon stoodonthis
spot,immortalizedin1578 by the performance of the firstPolishplay,“Dismissalof the
GreekEnvoys”by JanKochanowski.Tothe south,King SigismundIIIVasahada four-sided
stone castle withcornertowerserectedin1624.

A day withtourguidesandvisitstomuseums
In the beginning we visitedthe SROMOW,aprivate folkMuseumof the Brzozowiski's
Family.The studentsresearchedthe museumandtookphotosof theirareaof interest.
Later we visitedthe MAURZYCE.Itwasan openAirMuseumof the MazovianVillage .
Duringthe visitthe studentsidentifiedthe spotstheyhadbeenshownatfirst and
continuedtheirresearch.They probablycheckedif theirpredictionswererightand
foundthe evidence fromtheirphotos.

Dinnerat a local restaurantwhere we were offereddelicioustraditional Polishfood.

The groups worked together toproduce theirfinal productforthe presentationinthe
School Festival onSaturday.
A visit to the Town Hall.
Meetingwiththe Mayor and exchangingpresents.
A cohesion groupcohesiongame fromourPolishfriends:LeakingPipes
Coordination meetinginwhichcoordinatorsdiscussedaboutimportantissuesaccording
to our firstyearprojectand where we tookdecisionsfor the nexttripinIreland.Due to
personal circumstancescoordinatorsfromIreland(Keith)andCyprus(Froso) couldn't
assistto thismeeting.However,theyconnectedviaSkype andViberinordertobe able
to participate inthe meeting.Besides,othercolleaguesfromCyprus(Magda,Marinaand
Mr Kypros) were presenttoo.

Saturday, 21st May 2016
School Festival Learningabout Warsaw .
All teams presentedtheirprojectstothe local and school community.The presentation
was dedicatedtothe individual topiceachteam hadworkedon duringthe week.Each
teamtriedto combine bothnational andlocal elementsextractedfromtheirvisits
throughoutthe week. The collaborationamongtransnationalteamswasreally
constructive onthe groundsof interactionand in the exchange amongdifferent
cultures.The local school communitypresentedseveralactivitiesandsortgames
combiningelementsfromtraditionaldances ,songs,legendsof polishtradition.
A modern bench
In downtownWarsaw,inthe surroundingsof the Palace of Culture,there are
extraordinarybenchesdecoratedinareallyoriginal pioneeringwaywhichaimat
bringingaspectsof modernart intolife.The Polishschool hadpurchasedablankbench
(withoutanydrawings) whichwasdecoratedbyalmostall the participatingcountries
duringour stayin Poland.The unveilingtookplace inthe Final Festival onSaturdayat
the school by the local Mayor and the school'sprincipal.
Actions for the next meeting
The nexttrip will take place inIrelandbetween17th
- 21th of October2016.
Unfortunatelyforthistrip,due tothe special characteristicsof the familieswhichare
alreadyexplainedinourapplicationform, itisnotgoingto be possible tohostour
students,sotheyare goingto stay at the same hostel as the teachers.However,we

decidedthatinternational roomsare goingtobe formed (forexample:2Italianboyswill
share the room with2 Polishboys).
The main topicsto be covered forthe nextyearaccordingto our proposal are goingto
be relatedto geography, environment,ecosystem, sustainability.
Penfriends:For the nextschool yeara new listof penfriends will be created.Each
school isgoingto lookkfornewvolunteerstowrite new letterswhich coordinators will
take withthemto Ireland.Thenwe are goingto make the matchesand create the new
list.
The topic of the letter:Introducingmyself(name,age,family,pets,hobbies,etc).
Actions that we needto put into practice for the first year.
An evaluationof the program isgoingto be made usinga questionnaireaswell as
templates,distributedtoteachers,studentsandtheirparents.We reachedan
agreement,aswe alreadydecidedwhenwritingthe applicationform, that these
templatesandotherevaluationmaterialwillbe made bythe Polishandthe Spanish
teachersandtheywill be providedtothe restof countries.
Besides, we mustcreate ourguides(record-portfolioinpaperformat) onOutdoors
Educationand Collaborative Learning.
The firstportfoliowill includethe cohesiongamesthatwere presentedduring thisyear
for collaborative Learning.
The secondportfoliowill include5differentlessonplansof the actual lessons
implemented,byeachcountry,mostof whose material will containactivitiesmade
previous,duringandafterour Outdoors Activitieswe didinPortugal andPoland.
