Analysis of music video media
1. Analysis of music video
Nicole Scherzinger – Wet
The sound in the video is all linked in with the theme of the song which is quite sexual. Echoes are used in order to trail the singer voice so a more seductive tone can be pursued. The chorus of the song uses a catchy beat and strong vocals which links in with the vivid lyrics that are used allowing the tune to become catchier. The beat for what a pop/R&B song would be associated with is used, such as being up tempo and containing a steady rhythm. The vocals of the singer are sometimes stretched to create sexual innuendos again based on the theme of the song. It contradicts the usual style of this type of song as they tend to be lower key and more slow paced.
The narrative of the song is quite edgy as the video does not completely match the lyrics. It seems to be more based on Nicole letting loose and being free to explore and being risqué with adventures. In some parts of the video Nicole does choreographed dance routines that are suggestive in a sexual way but this links in with the idea of her exploring. It stereotypically links in with every female experimenting and having a wild side.
The technical aspect of the video appears to be straight forward with set scenes and choreographed dances. Super imposing is used in certain parts of the video and is used simultaneously with the beat. The singer would have had to use real places in the video and slight editing was used such as jump cut with filter effect and flashes making it look as though the camera is going distorted like it had gotten ‘wet’ linking directly in with the song. The scenes through the video would have been recorded numerous times so that the editing could be done to its highest ability and professional standard so that it fits in time with the beat and looks more effective.
