Alternative Pop Blues R&B/Soul Would capture alternative attention and fill a gap in the market There are already competitors such as Kerrang that border on Alternative There aren’t many pop music magazines and it would appeal to a large target audience Could exclude other market segments and hard to keep up as pop music changes so frequently Would be totally unique as there is a huge gap in the market for blues magazines May only appeal to a small audience so sales may not be satisfactory Classical Dance Country Rock Indie Pop Reggae Hip Hop/Rap Jazz Would appeal to a wide target market as R&B is becoming increasingly popular There aren’t any popular R&B magazines out there so sales/audience reaction will be hard to predict There aren’t many music magazines that appeal to an older generation May not appeal to younger audience Dance music is becoming more popular with the younger generation Only appeals to niche audience and younger age group Country music is becoming more popular due to artists such as Taylor Swift Not a very diverse genre to cover Rock music popular with all different age groups Already other magazines such as Kerrang that cover this genre Indie Pop appeals to a large audience as there are lots of new and diverse Indie artists The Indie genre changes so frequently that the magazine would always have to try and keep up There aren’t any other magazines that heavily cover the Reggae genre Reggae music isn’t as widely popular anymore Lots of popular artists such as Kanye West and Jay-Z that are hugely popular would influence sales Other magazines cover this genre so competition would be tough This magazine would appeal to older and younger generation Not many well known jazz artists in the media, so it would be hard to use
