successful in the professional sector by giving
them interview tips and the appropriate attire.
Type of Business : Non-Profit Organization
Years in Business : Start up ( less than one
year).
Social Media : Facebook
Online Media : None
3. Upfront Analysis
O Since my client is a start up
organization, they decided that they only
wanted to focus on social media at the
moment and the platform that they are
currently using is Facebook.
O They were using their Facebook account as a
website too .
O The content that was available on their page
was very informative for potential volunteers
and donors
O They kept their page updated on the
consistent bases
5. Best Practices
O
I found three like-minded non-profit organizations whose overall
goals were to help and empower women both in their personal
and professional lives.
O Boston Glow is a non-profit organization that is based out of
Boston, Mass and their goal is to help young girls and women
in the Boston area; they are the most similar to Dress for
Success Nashville.
O Boston Glow has a really cool website, that is colorful and
constantly updated with information reminding its site visitors to
volunteer/donate.
O Boston Glow has an amazing social media strategy , they are
using the two primary social networking sites ( Facebook and
Twitter ) they are regularly active on both and have good
content. In terms of online media, all the have is a YouTube
account that is lacking in both subscribers and content.
7. Best Practices Cont’d
O
The second non-profit organization that I conducted research
on was Women Employed, located in Chicago, IL; according to
the website Women Employed’s main mission is, “mobilizing
people and organizations to expand educational and
employment opportunities for America’s working women”.
O They are a national non-profit and have a great website, it is
very clean and detail oriented , they are constantly reminding
site visitors to volunteer/donate.
O They have a good new media strategy; in terms of their social
media, they are using the two primary social networking
channels ( Fb & Twitter) and in terms of online media they are
using Pintrest, Flickr and YouTube
8. Best Practices Cont’d
O
The final non-profit organization that I researched was
Catalyst, Inc. located in New York, NY, unlike the two previous
organizations, this is a global non-profit so they have even
more resources to allocate to their website design and social
media campaign
O Catalyst, Inc has a really good website , the design is clean and
the site is very easy to navigate.
O In terms of a new media strategy, they are very active on the
two primary social networking channel's ( fb & Twitter) they
have a large amount of followers and likes because they are a
global non-profit.
O They are lacking with their online media content, they could
develop their YouTube channel some more to attract more
donors.
10. Recommendations
O I
O
O
O
O
focused my recommendations on things that were free
because my client is a start up non-profit.
Google( YouTube and Flickr) and Wordpress have non-profit
partner programs where a non-profit can sign up for free .
DFSN is lacking a website so I recommended that they start a
Wordpress blog and customize with their content.
I recommended a Instagram, Pintrest and Flickr account
because , DFSN is dealing with fashion and they can showcase
the outfits the women are wearing to their interviews.
I recommended a twitter account so they can reach more
people with a more concise message than they would use on
Facebook
