Final paper requirement for the subject Communication Theories and Model

1. KABISERA
The scenario wherein Jose persuade his friend to sell his drugs in manila to have money. So,
Andres together with his wife decide if they gave their full trust to Jose that will be handling the
business of selling shabu from other people in that situation, I will apply the Elaboration
Likelihood Model under the Central route because Andres and his wife scrutinize ideas,
determine their merit and contemplate possible consequences that Jose offered to them. And the
decision of them is to take over the drugs to Jose.The next scenario that I've remember is the
Friendship of Andres and Jose, Many scenes in the movie talks about the memories and secrets
of them. The Social Penetration Theory of Altaman and Talyor is the best example of this,
Because The more time that they spend together, the more likely they are to self-disclose more
intimate thought and details of their life. And the last wherein Andres accept the Pablo's
(Policeman) said to him, that the leader of his son's accident is Jose which is his friend. In this
scenario, I would like to say that this is also a Elaboration Likelihood Model under the Peripheral
route because Andres accept what the policeman said to him with no deep thinking if it is true or
not just to give justice to his son's accident.
Woman of the ruins
I would applied the Elaboration Likelihood model (Peripheral route), Expectancy Violation
theory and Attribution theory for the movie Woman of the ruins. Elaboration Likelihood Model
under Peripheral route for the scenario that Pasyon saw her in the island expecting that Maria
was his wife. He believed with no doubt that the lady was his wife without any evidence
excluding the face. But his expectation that Maria will recognized him was miserably not. Maria
have a amnesia she didn't recognized everything even Pasyon. So the expectation of Pasyon was
violated because of Maria's situation. The last theory that I will give for this movie Woman of
the ruins is the Attribution Theory because of the scenes that Pasyon tortured Maria then he
noticed that the baby on Maria's womb was died he explained to Sol that the accident was not his
fault.
Shift
The last movie that is actually very good for me is the Shift by Seige Ledesma. The movie have a
Social Penetration Theory because of the relationship build by Estella and Trevor. The
relationship of them became more deeper and deeper by exchanging information to each other
and also by the time that they spend together is the one thing that their relationship was became
more intimate. We would also apply the Uncertainty Reduction theory of Berger and Calabrese.
When Estella confess for her feelings in Trevor then Trevor was no reaction at all. Maybe
because he was shocked or he didn't know what to react by Estalla's confession. This was the
Uncertainty Reduction Theory under nonverbal warmth. Last theory that we would apply for this
movie is Expectancy Violation Theory because Estella assumed that Trevor have a feelings for
her more than a friend because they are so close to each other.

2. Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon?
This movie Ganito kami noon, paano kayo ngayon a film by Eddie Romero and restored
by ABS-CBN was a great movie. This movie talks about what is the true characteristics of being
Filipino because in this time which is the Spanish colonization, many foreigner or people went in
our country to work and live here in the Philippines. But many scenario on the movie shows that
the Filipino was the poor and slave of the our visitors because Filipino was very fast to accept
and agree for everything that other people says to us. We are the one who should have a freedom
because this is our country but the situation is not just like that we became workers of their
business. Spaniards and Americans change the perspectives in our minds even the perspective of
being a true Filipino In this situation, the theory that fits is this scenario is the Reinforcement
Theory by Hovland, Janis And Kelly. The theory said that the Attention, comprehension and
acceptance are considered by the audience before a new opinion is adopted. The message must
be attention-getting and easy to understand. In the movie, the acceptance and attention of the
Filipino can easily get because of the stories and promises of Spaniards and Chinese or even
other people. But not all persons in our country was a bad person, because in the movie shows
that many people even they are not totally born here in the Philippines but they heart is pure
Filipino and they have respect for our country is a true Filipino. In the first part of the movie
represents the Filipino citizenship when the person was born in the country of the Philippines.
So, many people said that they are Filipino because they was born in the Philippines even if they
are Chinese or Spaniards they believe that they are a Filipino citizen. But in the end of the movie
which is the main lesson of the movie that being a Filipino is not about the place when you was
born, is about the love and respect to your country the Philippines.
