KABISERA
In this film I choose three scenes that theories are evidently seen. The first scene that I chose is the scene where Andres played by Joel Torre, the fisher folk, found a bunch of drugs while he was on the sea to catch fish. His mind was torn into two choices. Is he going to surrender the drugs to the authorities or to the policemen or he will just keep the drugs, sell it and make money. He told his wife about the drugs that he found and he asked for some advice. His wife told him to just keep the drugs and they will sell it for them to make money for their children and for their future. That’s what Andres did. For me this scene is in Cognitive Dissonance Theory says that it often have conflicting beliefs. In this case, Andres’ mind contradicts if he will surrender the drugs or keep it and sell it to have money. This theory also explains why human behave. Maybe his wife told him to keep the drugs and sell it because of poverty that they are experiencing. The second scene that I cannot forget is the part where Andres told his daughter Ana played by Meryll Soriano to go home to their province with her family and be with them. But Ana refuses and rejected his father’s offer. Andres persuades Ana many times with full effort. He already even make a house for them so they can transfer anytime in their province but Ana’s family really did not want to live there. Ana even explained that her husband’s business is in Manila and their life there is stable so no need to transfer in the province. This scene explain an Elaboration Likelihood Theory because this theory says that the person can have a positive and negative reaction based on the situartion. In this case, when Andres thought that Ana and her family will already transfer in the province he became happy but when Ana told him that they will not transfer in the province, he became angry. The third scene that I chose is the part where Ana refuses to transfer in the province. His dad became disappointed and as easy as that, it is in Expectancy Violation Theory, because as I said in the first movie, in this theory the person did not achieve the thing that he wants to have or to happen and it leads to disappointments.

SHIFT
In the movie Shift, I chose three scenes that have theories that are evidently seen when I watched it. The first scene that I chose is the part when Trevor played by Felix Roco whom an officemate of Estela which is played by Yeng Constantino keep telling negative comments about her, but in the end, she told Estela that she is strong and tough person. For me, this scene is an example of Cognitive Dissonance Theory. As this theory says that human beings often have conflicting beliefs with actions they take or other beliefs they have. In this case, Trevor contradicts himself on the things he keeps on telling to Estela. The second scene that I chose is when Estela’s mother asked her if she had a new job already and Estela answer yes but in reality, she still haven’t found a new job. Her mother told her also to pack her things because she has a flight and will go to her mother’s place to be with her. She said that she already have her things packed but the truth is her things are still messy and unpacked yet. This scene is an example of Interpersonal Deception Theory because this theory states that sender can manipulate massages so as to be untruthful, which may cause the receiver to believe the story that they said. It is then similar to lying. It forces you to tell lies just to make the person you are talking to comfortable. The third and the last scene that I chose is when Estela already fell in love with Trevor. For me, it is the saddest and the most heart breaking part of the film. In this part, Trevor and Estela became best of friends but unfortunately, Trevor is a gay. As time pass by, little by little, Estela found herself falling for Trevor, but Trevor already have someone else. Because of the sweet text messages and full efforts, Estela expected that maybe Trevor can be a straight male and maybe he can love her back. But all hell broke loose when Estela confronted Trevor and she told him that she loves him. Trevor didn’t have any reaction for it so Estela got disappointed and hurt. For me, it is in Expectancy Violation Theory because this theory says that the expectation or the thing you want to happen did not happen so your expectation to it broke down.

BLUE BUSTAMANTE
This movie has a leading role named George which was played by Joem Bascon. I also choose three scenes that has theories which are evidently scene in the film. The first scent that I chose is when their son was being bullied in the school because his father go to abroad to find work there. He was bullied by being fatherless. One of his classmates bullied him to get his “baon” and money. He was also tied up to a metal in a playground. I think that this scene is in Reinforcement Theory because this theory said that attitude changes result form an opinion changed produced through reinforcement areas. After the son was being bullied, he told his friends that it’s okay and they should watch their favorite television show instead of being dramatic of what had happened. The second scene that I chose is when the main character, George, decided to go to Japan to search for a job there. When he was already there, he passed bio datas in different company but unfortunately, there were no confirmation that he was hired. He applied to be an engineer and he already expect that he will be one of the best engineers in town but he was disappointed when he was not hired. This scene is an example of Expectancy Violation Theory because this theory, an expectation is violated that leads to disappointment. The third scene that I chose is the part where George called to his family in the Philippines and told them that he already found a new job there. He also told them that he was an engineer there in a big company. But, the truth is a friend helped him and hired him as one of the stuntmen of a television show. At first, he did not want to accept the job because he knows that his family might be disappointed but eventually, he accepted the offer because he realizes that there is no harm in trying and maybe it can be a stepping stone for him to find a greater job. When he found the right timing to tell his wife that his real job there is a stunt man of a television show which happens to be aired also in the Philippines and it his son’s favorite show also. Luckily, the character that he portrays is his son’s favorite character also. This scene I think is in Interpersonal Deception Theory because in the part where George told his wife that he is an engineer in Japan, he manipulated the truth so that his wife would not be worried about his condition there.

GANITO KAMI NOON, PAANO KAYO NAGYON
Among the six movies that we watched, honestly speaking, this movie made my blood alive again because of the comedy, romance and action part. “Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon” is a movie that can’t really get out of my mind. Until now, I still know how the whole story revolves this movie tackles on how Spaniards make us servants on our own country. How they control lives of the Filipinos. They also make us foreigners in our own land, our own country. Spaniards made us think that they are the ones who have the right to be called as the true “Filipinos”. This movie also tells us on how on how money can control our lives, and emotions. That in Spanish days, money can buy power, authority and anything that we wanted to have. This movie also taught me that not all kind people should be trusted. Not all the person who stayed with us from the beginning will stay with us through thick and thin, or will stay with us until the end. We should have walls to guards ourselves, so nobody can hurt our feeling easily. This movie teaches us to love our own country before any country. This movie told us that we are the true Filipino and we have the greatest right to be called as Filipinos. Spaniards made us believe that we are the native Filipino and they are the true blooded Filipinos because in their era, they grow up believing that a true Filipino should have money and power. As said in the movie, Spaniards call themselves as the true Filipinos but we, the true Filipinos not only by mind but also by heart, stand for our country. They fought against the Spaniards and prove them that we are the true Filipinos.
For me, the movie “Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon” is in Reinforcement Theory, Why? Because Reinforcement Theory talks about acceptance. In this film, Filipino accept things not in terms of the Spaniards making them as their slaves but in terms of accepting things that they can surpass whatever the situation of the country is. Even if they lack of materials and weapon to fight against the Spaniards, they still continue to fight even if it means that their lives can be in danger. Even though there is chaos, Filipinos will just pray and always say that they can overcome that circumstances and that there is always a rainbow after the rain.
