HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) is a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Mittal Energy
Investment Pte Ltd, Singapore - a Lakshmi N Mittal Group Company. Both the JV partners hold a stake of 49% in the company, the rest
2% is held by financial institutions. HMEL has built a grass root oil refinery of 9 MMTPA at Bathinda in Punjab, called Guru Govind Singh
Refinery Project. The project is completed and refinery got fully operational and handed over to Nation in April 2012.
The refinery produces petroleum products complying with Euro IV emission norms with Captive Power Plant for 165 MW and Crude Oil
pipeline from Mundra (Gujarat) to Bathinda with Single Point Mooring (SPM) and Crude Oil terminal at Mundra.

Present Roles & Responsibilities
 Handling GGSR(Refinery) Data Center Operations related to SAP, MES, INFRA and also End User Support.
 Handling a Team of multiple domains which includes Server, Network, Security, Storage, Service Desk and Asset Management
 Responsible for smooth delivery of IT services to business, ensure customer satisfaction and attending review meetings
 Heading the India datacenter, Responsible for deployment of hosted application services
 Over all responsible for Operational and deployment related activities. Meeting SLA with the ITIL prospective includes Incident
Management, Problem Management and Change Management as a core processes and SLM, Feedback and Service Request as
non-core processes. Discussion with NOC on MIS Reports on timely basis and taking preventive/ corrective actions accordingly.
 Operates as a critical liaison between datacenter operations, the business representatives, and all global team members for
datacenter services
 Ensure continuous communication & coordination with all Stakeholders in the event of Severity 1 or MI
 Ensure SLA/SLO attainment as agreed in SOW
 Defining New Process and Procedure in term of bringing the best practices for controlling IT Operations
 Participate in the Change Control Board and/or change control process as required
 Provide leadership and direction to Delivery teams
 Streamlining operation procedures and advising management to adopt modern techniques, which help organization to maintain
flawless system.
 Involve and prepare the action plan with Partner for the implementation of DR
 Support implementation & upgrade projects with key partners including datacenters
 Drive timely delivery & installation of changes in the IT infrastructure by coordinating between Ops & Project teams to ensure
adherence to SLAs and committed timelines for all deliveries
 Involve with the various Technical Partners for implementing New Projects within the organization
 Developing and negotiating with vendors for timely supply of computer peripherals and hardware devices to facilitate smooth
project activities, ensuring compliance with SLA & Standard Operating Procedure
 Drive/Manage service quality, performance, and improvement of service delivery processes and make SIPs
 Reviewing & Managing the Risk Register for entire Datacenter which includes Risk Identification, Mitigation plan and take
Stakeholders sign off on that
 Conducting periodic internal audits (i.e. internal audit, ITIL v3 process audits etc.) and closing the gaps/NC found.
 Closure of Cyber security assessment gaps
 Monitors service-delivery performance with established governance and closing Risk Points
 Ensure compliance of quality norms and processes as defined by the Management
 SLA / KPI Performance review with the team members and Stakeholders
 Reviewing the weekly IT Operations reports, monthly QIC and MIS review, Quarterly Capacity review
 Delivering on service commitments and participate in Site Plan/Strategy
 Defining the various IT Security Policy and involve in the discussion session of the IT Security Management
 Developing Security Processes and Procedures as per standards and best practices; ensuring compliance to information security

 Defining specifications for purchase and installation of all standard operating computer related equipment including Servers, PC’s,
Routers, Switches, Printers, Networks and Data Center Equipment.
 Extending IT-Infrastructure support group provides all requisite support to enable the employees to use IT services including
Hardware (PCs/Laptops/Servers/LAN/WAN/etc).
 Networking within the offices and among various locations and Software (Application Packages/ Tools/ Keys/ E-Mail setting), etc.
 Maintained information security processes and security control standards for application development and technology deployment.
In-charge of evaluating new security technology and conducting vulnerability assessments.
Noteworthy Milestones across the tenure
 Successfully managed and got the project of laying down of around 200 Kms of OFC Single Mode Armored Dry Tube Cable in Guru
Gobind Singh Refinery ( HPCL Mittal Energy Ltd. )
 Successfully got the 1800 Sq. feet Primary Data Center Tier-3 made at Refinery
 Successfully got the Energy Audit Done for the Data Center & Air Sampling ISA-71.04-1985 done for the DC
 Data Center Migration and Consolidation. Acted as a Primary SPOC in the Critical DC Migration activity and END to END checking
of all the devices Post Migration & making sure all the devises are UP and running and replicated from the Primary site.
Management had also appreciated the efforts
 Successfully implemented ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 in the IT Department of HMEL in Jan-Feb 2015
 Successfully implemented ISO/IEC 27001:2013 for the Bathinda DC including IT department in March 2016
 Successfully got the project execute for the DR Center Movement & Deployment of new network setup as per HMEL requirement.
 Working on the low level design for Cisco Unified Communications manager 8.0, Cisco Unity Connection 8.0, Cisco Meeting Place
8.0, Cisco Unified Operation Manager 2.3 and Third-party Billing Software on the basis of HMEL requirement . Worked with the
Projects Team on Voice Deployment, Failover Redundancy, Gateway for IP & Analog devices, MGCP Gateway, CUCM integration
with third party Systems with a handover of the Systems to Operations. The VC setup is integrated with Pipeline, HO, Refinery
through a dedicated 100 Mbps OFC link. For outside PRI configured for VC.
 Worked on comprehensive Backup solution for our complete IT environments Bathinda (Primary) and Noida (Secondary) Data
centres. The solution was optimally designed and implemented according to cover all the IT environments i.e. SAP, Exchange,
MES and other Infrastructure
 Acted as a Key Resource in all the DR Drill activities and making sure all the process is adhered and making sure RTO is as less as
possible
 Single handedly implemented the Digital Signage Solution at all locations of HMEL
 Pivotal in lowering system downtime by 20%, network management time by 40% & TCO from level 4-6.
 Managed SLA Compliance for the customer and under taken service improvement projects to in case improvements are required in
service delivery.
 Achieved 40 % savings in Operational costs, 30 % increase in IT-Availability and 15% increase in IT- Turnaround in the previous
organization.
 Created and ran the Information Security Office; responsible for creating and maintaining the security architecture for all technology
platforms. Overseeing the evaluation of new security technology and conduct of vulnerability assessments
 No vulnerabilities were exploited in the last 24 months during Internal and External Audits for ISO 9001-2008.
 Introduced the IT Acceptable Used Policy and Acceptable use of Mobile devices for the previous organization; also amended the
Corporate Email and Internet Policy which improved quality standards.
 Introduced at Eigen Technical Services Fault Tolerance for the Internet Link, Router, Firewall and installed DDPS to ensure stability
of operations.
 Conducted Application Sizing at Eigen Technical Services; undertook major upgradations in client machines and resolved major
recurring incidents.
 At Eigen Technical Services gave Microsoft Software Assurance Benefits to the company under the Enterprise Agreement,
imparted trainings to the team and also gave them access to e-learning for various modules.
 At Eigen Technical Services worked as an interface between the customer and company on the AD-Project. Resolved major client
issues by working on Process Management, SLA Management; aligning Service Delivery Teams for timely response to escalations,
issues and concerns raised by BU Stake Holders; and discussing improvement areas with Vertical Leads.
 Received an Appreciation Certificate at Macmillan Publishing Solutions for dedicated support, availability and excellent
turnaround in 2008 for the Delhi IT Infrastructure Team.
