business of retailing has undergone various
transformations keeping the central gist of trading to
the final consumer intact.
The store change their format, style of presentation
and assortment, i.e the variety and depth of
merchandise as per the requirements of the customers.
There are different type of retailing formats, which can
be opted by a retailer based on their target market and
own resources.

In direct marketing, a
customer is first exposed
to a good or service
through a non-personal
medium (direct mail, TV,
radio, magazine,
newspaper, computer,
tablet, or mobile device)
and then orders by mail,
phone, or fax (and
increasingly by computer,
Smartphone, or tablet.
Direct Marketing Direct Selling Vending Machine
A vending machine is a cash-
or card-operated retailing
format that dispenses goods
and services . It eliminates
use of sales personnel and
allows 24-hour sales. It is an
automatic machine that
serves the purpose of selling
general merchandise to the
customers in absence of any
retailer.
Direct selling includes both
personal contact with
consumers in their homes
(and other non-store
locations such as offices) and
phone solicitations initiated
by a retailer. A direct-selling
strategy emphasizes
convenient shopping and a
personal touch, and detailed
demonstrations can be made

The video kiosk is a self-
supporting, interactive,
electronic computer
terminal that displays
goods and services on a
video screen and permits
the viewer to make
selections. It uses touch
screen for consumers. By
simply touching the screen,
it shows videos clips,
presentations, and product
details immediately on
screen or on an attached
projector or plasma screen.
Video Kiosks
In this type of retail
business, retailer keeps
one day stock of his
merchandise and goes
to an area to serve its
permanent customers.
Sometimes retailers
visit some areas which
are totally new to them
to attract new
customers. It can be
STATIC retailing or
RAVING retailing
Electronic retailing is sales
of goods and services
through electronic media
(over internet).
Besides internet digital
television, Web-enabled
mobile telephones(WAP),
tele-conferencing are also
used in doing online
business. It can be B2B,
B2C,G2B or C2C.

promotion of retail
trade especially the
international trade.

traffic areas.
This concept caught
public attention with
oil companies trying to
allow private
companies to set up
convenience stores at
their fuel station
outlets
Retailer invite people
from nearby localities
and after describing
positive aspects of the
merchandise, sells it.
These types of get
together/events are
organized by the
franchisor (retailer)
belonging to a big
organization.

It uses touch screen for consumers. By simply touching the screen, it shows videos clips, presentations, and product details immediately on screen or on an attached projector or plasma screen. Video Kiosks In this type of retail business, retailer keeps one day stock of his merchandise and goes to an area to serve its permanent customers. Sometimes retailers visit some areas which are totally new to them to attract new customers. It can be STATIC retailing or RAVING retailing Electronic retailing is sales of goods and services through electronic media (over internet). Besides internet digital television, Web-enabled mobile telephones(WAP), tele-conferencing are also used in doing online business. It can be B2B, B2C,G2B or C2C.
