2. Production
How did they record their music? In the beginning and
now
After performing on hit TV show Star search, Usher
landed a record deal with LaFace record at the age of
14. He released his first album at the age of 15.
LaFace is owned by Sony music entertainment formed in
1989 (the ‘Media gods’ as David Gaunlet suggested).
3. Distribution and
performance
Usher performed live on stage, and sold CD’s in
shops.Web1.0 meant that the fan-star relationship was
restricted.
Whereas in Web2.0, Usher now releases music online
like Itunes, Youtube and Spotify, as well as you can
also access hardcopy’s of his music at the same time.
Therefore the relationship is easier to strengthen.
4. Marketing and
communication
Usher has a website, http://usherworld.com/, which
advertises his latest tours, releases and even has a fan
base. The website is in a blog format, and wouldn’t
have existed in Web1.0.
Usher uses social networking sites on the WWW such
as Instagram and Twitter. He has over 9 million
followers on both, which shows that Web2.0 helps fans
and stars receive and give information.
