2. ANALYZE THE LEARNERS
This lesson will be for 11th Grade students.
It’s a class of 24 students, with 14 girls
and 10 boys.
1 of the students is visually impaired.
4 of the students have ADHD (Attention
Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).
3. MAIN OBJECTIVE
By the end of the week my students will
develop an understanding of The Great
Gatsby through learning about the
author’s background, the history,
culture, characters, and plot of the story
with 85% accuracy.
5. DAY BY DAY ACTIVITIES
Monday: Introduction to The Great Gatsby, watch a YouTube video on the
author F. Scott Fitzgerald, and a handout to remember facts.
Tuesday: A brief history of the story and the 1920s shown through PowerPoint.
Assign copies of The Great Gatsby.
Wednesday: An overview of the culture in the US, especially New York, in the
1920s. Shown through a YouTube video.
Thursday: Go over the characters found in the story, identify them, and write
down first impressions of them.
Friday: Identify the plot and the storyline, continue reading The Great Gatsby
over the weekend, and prepare for open discussion on Monday.
