3. Introduction
Water is important for our body.
Without it, we would not be able to survive, and
would normally do our day-to-day lives.
In this work we will see the importance of water in the
human body, its quantity and the functions it
performs.
4. Importance of water in the human
body
Water allows us to perform various functions of our body, necessary for
our survival.
About 60% of the total body weight of an adult and 80% of a child's
body is made up of water. Water is found in the extracellular fluid but
is also the main component of the cells.
Water is also essential for the transport of substances from our body,
such as oxygen, nutrients and minerals, since they are part of the
blood.
5. Amount of water in the human
body
The water in our body is found in three main places: in the
cells (two thirds of the water); In the blood and in the
spaces between the cells (one third of the water)
28 liters is the intracellular water
14L is found in the extracellular fluid of which
3L is blood plasma
1L is the intracellular fluid (cerebrospinal fluid, ocular, pleural, peritoneal fluid
and synovial fluids)
10L is the interstitial fluid (including lymph), which is an aqueous medium
surrounding cells.
6. In fact, the amount of water contained in the body varies
with certain contexts: a newborn contains 75% water, while
an elderly person contains 50% water in their body.
Also, a more muscular body contains more water, on the
contrary a body with much fat has less water.

7. Water functions in the human
body
The water in the human body is a substance that exerts several
essential activities for the body, guaranteeing its balance and proper
functioning of the organism as a whole. Among these functions we
have:
-water having its role as solvent;
-plays a key role in the elimination of toxins;
-is part of the blood plasma, being an important component;
-transports the products of the metabolism to the places of its elimination;
-participation in physiological processes, such as digestion (for example);
-guarantee the protection of certain structures of the human body;
-regulation of body temperature.
8. Conclusion:
Concluding the water is very important for our body,
even though it is not a substance that we have in our
body, we can acquire it by drinking water every day for
example.
Without water we could do nothing.
