1. Developing a Culture of Research and Writing Alison Barton University of Central Lancashire UCET Conference 2009
2. Creating a curriculum that required trainees to undertake small scale action research and teacher educators to supervise and support that process. The outcome of this was to build individual research capacity. Our challenge to share and use the findings more widely First steps (1998)
3. Through the Looking Glass: Reflective Research in Post Compulsory Education was established The principle behind the journal was that the design and content would emerge from colleagues in the FE sector, raising the profile of how the sector was perceived as academically credible both internally and externally A journal is born (2006)

5. The publication of the journal acts as inspiration and ideas for other generations of trainees to access The professional development of teacher educators Sustainability of the journal requires the partnership to develop editorial and publishing skills Developing a motivation to be involved in research has challenged us to create new curriculum paths Unexpected outcomes
6. The success of the journal has confirmed for us that creating a collaborative resource enables the continual development of ideas both inside and outside of the partnership. It has also brought us to a new place, we were ready to step out of our classrooms and look at a larger perspective. We recognised that we are not alone and could undertake collaborative exercises that offered a communal voice to emerge. Our next project was to publish a book written by partnership tutors and managers A fork in the road (2008)
