Purposes of the session <ul><li>To review recent ITT requirements developments </li></ul><ul><li>To review development of guidance to QTS standards and ITT requirements, including case studies </li></ul><ul><li>To highlight links between the guidance and the TTRB </li></ul><ul><li>To respond to queries, and identify opportunities for further guidance and support </li></ul>

New requirements and guidance <ul><li>Providers must: </li></ul><ul><li>Assess suitability and provisionally register trainees with the GTC(E) (new R1.5) </li></ul><ul><li>Ensure trainees are ‘ISA’ registered (2009) (amended R3.3) </li></ul><ul><li>Have processes in place to ensure that any trainee teachers removed from or leaving a training programme as a result of misconduct are referred to the GTC(E) (new R3.4). </li></ul><ul><li>Development of R1.1 guidance </li></ul>

Standards and requirements guidance <ul><li>Link from: www.tda.gov.uk/qts </li></ul><ul><li>Guidance aims to: </li></ul><ul><li>Clarify the standards and requirements and promote a common understanding among all providers and their partners </li></ul><ul><li>Help everyone involved in ITT understand the rationale and scope of each standard & requirement </li></ul><ul><li>Give an indication of the likely sources of assessment evidence relevant to the standards </li></ul><ul><li>Link to supporting resources for trainees and providers, including new case studies </li></ul>

Case Studies <ul><li>The case studies are designed to chart a trainee's journey through outstanding ITT provision, and highlight the trainee's outstanding demonstration of meeting the QTS standards, as well as linking to Ofsted's outstanding grade characteristics. </li></ul><ul><li>So far around 30 case studies have been commissioned with more to follow. </li></ul><ul><li>Publication of case studies, linked to the relevant standards and requirements is underway. </li></ul>
