When in your seat, I see your “tushy”.

That you respect and feel respected.
Watch your words and be polite,
Avoid agression, please don’t bite.
5. Sometimes you’ll sit,
sometimes you’ll walk,
Sometimes you’ll listen,
sometimes you’ll talk.
Please do each of these on cue.

6. These rules exist so we can learn.
Obey them and
rewards you’ll earn
I also feel compelled to mention,
Breaking rules will mean
detention.
If these rules seem strict and terse,
Please make suggestions but only
in verse.

4. What kind of classroom atmosphere does
the teacher want to establish?
5. What conditions must be present in order to
establish such atmosphere/climate?
8. THE CLASSROOM CLIMATE
It is more a product of the interaction between
and among teacher and students than that of
the physical condition of the classroom.
The physical condition of the classroom may
exert an influence on the social interaction
among the personalities in class but it may not
contribute as much as the classroom social
interaction does.
9. Abstraction/Generalization
The classroom climate that is conducive for learning is
one that is not threatening yet business-like. It is a
classroom where:
1. specific classroom rules and procedures are clear
2. the classroom rules and procedure are discussed on
the first days of class
3. students are involved in the design of rules and
procedures
4. techniques to acknowledge and reinforce acceptable
behavior and provide negative consequences are
employed
10. 5. clear limits for unacceptable behavior are
established
6. there is healthy balance between dominance and
cooperation
7. teacher is aware of the needs of different types of
students
8. teacher is fully aware of the happenings in class
9. students’ responsibility for their own behavior in
enhanced
