Essay on Batman Verses Leeann
"Batman" She shouted
"What?"
"I finally figured it out I'm going to call you." She said with the biggest grin on her face. "You are my dark knight so batman is the only name that fits"
From that day on everyone started calling me batman. People create nicknames based upon their own needs. Some need a new insult others need a
change, a fresh start. All must encounter the same problem at some point in time. What does this nickname really mean and when does it begin to take
your place in life.
I had to ask myself at what point did I start sharing my life with an internal monster. One that thrived off of attention, power, and the weak will of
others. At what point do you notice that you are no longer you. I quickly became Batman also known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To me your name is a memory that you should forever hold on to. It is your direct link to the past, present, and future. It is your heritage and it is
how you should be remembered. She argued that birth names were as bad as brands on cattle. I wrapped her response around my brain until it cut off
circulation. I couldn't help but pass out in exhaustion and frustration. Questions dancing a deadly tango in my head. I could no longer think rationally
like Leeann, soon all my thoughts and ideas were processed like Batman. There was something in this nickname that I rebelled from. Fighting a civil
war within myself, attempting to be the victor. This isn't what I signed up for when I came to college.
They say college is a place where you find yourself. Where you make important life decisions like what clubs you will join and who you will
interact with. Most people find themselves but I somehow managed to lose myself. I lost myself in the limelight of college the parties and this
intimate yet destructive relationship. Somehow I found myself in her, she had given me something I didn't know I was looking for. She gave me a
name with meaning, she gave me a strong image of reality, but most importantly she gave me my first regret.
Nicknames are intimate things given from person to person. No matter their nature nicknames are attached to strong emotions may they be negative or
positive. You are given a name based on you or the persons needs at that point in time. Angelique needed a

Movie Analysis: Dumb And Dumber
Jim Carrey can now be listed to the roster of celebrities that have used Randy Combs' 34–foot Dodge Ram limousine. The 14–passenger limousine
equipped with a hot tub in it's bed is lined up to appear in at the very least one scene in Dumb and Dumber to, a new movie that is expected to arrive in
theaters this November. Combs stated that Jim Carrey, who will portray Lloyd Christmas in the film, drives the limo to transport his prom date in the
movie.
Our guess is that this occurs in the film during a flashback scene, since the movie is set 20 years subsequent to the events in Dumb and Dumber, the
original film. However, Combs isn't sure of that. In the movie scene, Carrey will escort his date to the back of the truck, where he tears off

The Superhero Genre Is Classified By A Fight Of Good Vs. Evil
The superhero genre is classified by a fight of good vs. evil. The heroes and the villains are complex characters driven by motives that are not always
black and white. Besides dealing with fictional characters, superhero comic books often incorporate real life difficulties, such as racism, sexism, and
drug use. The storylines are driven by the superheroes fight against the forces of evil, but the underlying story often deals with conflicting moral
dilemmas and self–doubt. The superheroes have secret identities and strut around in colorful costumes, but behind these personas, lay a story of
triumph and defeat. The true appeal of comics is not the colorful character who follows it but the dark, gritty storylines that cause the reader to view
the world and humanity in a new light. In "Batman #134", written in 1960 by Bill Finger, a few of these requirements are addressed. This comic
follows Batman and Robin's adventure in an undisclosed South American republic. The major conflict lies with a man named Diaz, who releases a
monster known as "The Rainbow Creature." This creature terrorizes the village until Batman uses his world–class detective skills to defeat the beast.
The storyline is quickly wrapped up in a span of nine pages, and the childish tone of the comic causes the intrigue of the story to be lost on the reader.
On the other hand, Batman: Ego, written by Darwyn Cooke in 2000, deals with the harsh atmosphere of Gotham. The comic tells the story of a

The Goals Of Social Media
How many times have you read or been told that in order to keep yourself accountable to your goals, that you should announce them to the people
around you?
This is something that we see in many books and articles and we see people following this information as they post their goals on social media.
However, how many times do we actually see them accomplish these goals?
New studies are actually showing that announcing your goals is one of the worst things that you can do if you really want to achieve them.
Why?
The reason is because of naysayers. Those people who do not want to see you succeed for whatever reason.
I spoke briefly about these people in the previous chapter. They are the people who do not want to believe in you, they do not... Show more content on

That scares them.
How to Deal with Naysayers
The fact is that you are not going to change the people around you. There is no way for you to make them believe in you.
However, you can change yourself and how you deal with the negativity that they bring into your life.
The first thing that you need to remember is that you more to yourself than you do to the naysayers. What is it that you owe these people, which is
forcing you to prove them right?
Really think about what I am saying. These people do not pay your bills, they do not raise your children and they are not in control of anything in your
life. Remaining in a situation where you are unhappy just to make them happy seems a little silly.
Ask yourself, what could they lose by you finding happiness and reaching your goals.
These people might even try to convince you that you are fine just the way that you are in order to stop you from making the changes that you want to
make. You see, they are stealthy, most of them won't make it obvious that they are trying to hold you back, but instead will try to convince you that
they care about you, just as you are.
It is important for you to remember that these people need for you to fail. You see, if you fail, they can continue to tell themselves that there is no point
in trying to get healthy because if you weren't successful they won't be either.
It is just another way for them to come up with an excuse, a reason that they shouldn't worry about their

Batman The Unexpected Cultural Revolution Summary
Critique of "Batman, The unexpected Cultural Revolution"
In the essay "Batman, The Unexpected Cultural Revolution" Chris Gould sheds light on Batman, and how the comics are described as dismal yet
the show was made to be laughable with a main character described as gentle. The main point of Gould's essay is that the show has become a "pop
art utopia" (pg. 268) and how it shaped the morals of a young generation. "The Batman TV show thus became a depiction of pop art utopia, where
bright colors forever defeated darkness, where creativity forever defeated logic and Good forever triumphed over Evil." (Gould 1). The author of
"Batman, the unexpected Cultural Revolution" made the argument that Batman left a lasting impact on society and he uses valid information to prove
his point.
Chris Gould explains how William Dozier introduced Batman, the crime fighting superhero, to TV in 1966. The show was about a man in a suit that
fought crime with his teenage sidekick. The show was aimed at families, it wanted to send a positive message to younger viewers. Gould also notes that
the show analized a number of trends that were occurring during that time such as; the hippie movement, corruption in politics, the power of
technology, and pop art. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gould is impassive in his essay, however, the show scorned hippies on two separate occasions. The first time hippies were scorned when "A
flower–power criminal named Louis the Lilac, played by Milton Berle, was created to illustrate this point, expressing the belief that hippies could be
controlled and manipulated to serve his own nefarious ends."(Gould 270).Gould uses this to provide evidence for his claim that writers disliked the
young social movements, so it was surprising the show actually became as popular with pop art. Gould described one episode that made fun of pop art

The Modern Medieval Hero
The Modern Medieval Hero
The Modern Medieval Hero
Bruce Wayne was only but a child when he watched helplessly as his parents were gunned down in front of him during a mugging in Gotham City.
This crime would come to define his life. To the public, he would excel and succeed his father and become the heir and millionaire of the Wayne
corporation. In secret, he would dedicate himself to becoming one of the world's greatest weapons against crime–the Batman.
Batman perfectly embodies the idea of a hero. He combats crime in the city of Gotham with relative ease having pushed himself to the absolute
pinnacle of physical human achievement while simultaneously wielding a mastery of fighting techniques and an arsenal of advanced crime–fighting
technology. An intellectually brilliant detective with a plan for any and every occasion, seemingly always ahead of his foes.
Batman battles anything from common thugs and criminals on city streets, to super villains and psychopaths wielding weapons or tools that could
mean an end for not only himself but for the city he strives to protect. The common criminals do not pose a threat to Batman himself, but he fights them
to save the people of Gotham City in accordance with a strong ethical code. He releases criminals to the authorities instead of handling them at his own
discretion. The criminals in his career typically do not pose such an immediate and large enough threat to civilian lives and so Batman will not kill them,

How Batman Has Changed over the Past 70 Years
How has the Dc Comics superhero Batman changed over the past 70 years? How has design influenced the development of the various costumes for
the character and how are Batman films reflecting darker forces within US Society? From Comic book Hero to national icon.
Introduction
In this dissertation I will discuss how DC Comics have developed and improved the design of their comic books since their establishment in 1937. I
will compare comics from past and present and talk about the different styles of comic books that have been released from the company. I will also
talk about how the artwork from the comic books have influenced character and costume design in recent DC Comic films. I will do this by studying
the history of the company and researching the designers behind the comic books. I will thoroughly research in detail the characters and the designs of
their costume and equipment and compare them to the different films that have been released over the years. The main character I will look into is
Batman. I will study the origins of the character, the man behind the character, the reason behind Batman's creation, how he has changed over the years,
the development of other characters in the series, the famous villains that Batman has had to face, the different costumes he has had over the years and
I will also be researching and studying how Batman has become a national icon in American society, and the effects the character has had on people
living in the country. Batman

Summary Of The Essay 'Not Rants'
Essays, Not Rants! 218: A Response
There's a recent New York Times article I came across that laments how the rise of the superhero genre has conflated actor–stardom with
character–stardom. The article itself doesn't really chase down the points too well, but the central gist (as far as I can see) is that in the recent slate
of films, characters have come to trump actors. As Wesley Morris suggests in the article, when you watch Oceans Eleven, it's George Clooney doing
all the cool stuff as Danny Ocean; but when you watch Rush, you don't see Chris Hemsworth as James Hunt, you see Thor as James Hunt. And as
more big name actors get roped in to superhero films (Cate Blanchett's gonna be in Thor: Ragnarok!), it's more actors being roped in to playing a
specific character.
Which makes Morris' point of view seem a little weird. He implies that the fun of Ocean's Eleven is seeing the star–studded cast play off of each other,
whereas Civil War is more about watching the characters interact; the former being better. Which begs the question of whether or not you're supposed
to forget that it's an actor playing a character and not something happening before you.
Now, the attitude here feels a lot like that kid who's angry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In any case, based on the title, is about the changing role of celebrity that the uptick of superhero film franchises have brought about. Which, alright,
sure; but we've also changed from the studio system of the '50s. Marvel with the MCU (and, Fox with X–Men and DC with their attempts at catchup)
are working on a new form of storytelling, one that sits somewhere at the nexus of film, television, comics, and those old serials from forever ago.
Maybe it's time that the nature of stardom changes, what with the steady rise of nerd culture into the mainstream. After all, the geeks shall inherit the

The Joker: The Villain In The Dark Knight
In the movie, "The Dark Knight," the main villain is a sadistic criminal, who refers to himself as the "Joker." This evil, twisted and brilliant character is
the arch–nemesis of Batman, the "Caped Crusader" who watches over and protects the much beleaguered and crime–ridden Gotham City. The Joker
wreaks havoc on Gotham, using its buildings, streets, and inhabitants as his personal experiment in uncontrolled destruction. His ultimate goal is to
throw Gotham City into chaos, proving without question that nobody is safe as long as he controls the city. In "The Dark Night," he develops a
four–step plan, ensuring that Gotham remains under his power and is thrown headlong into complete chaos. The first part of the Joker's plan was to
get the top members of the Gotham City mob on his side. Even though he's an evil mastermind, the Joker is only so much he can do on his own. He
intercepts a meeting where all of the mob leaders are gathered and offers them a deal. He will get rid of Batman for half of all of their profits. They, of
course, agree to this because, as the Joker points out, they are losing money. All of their buyers are afraid of the Batman, and regular civilians aren't
scared of them anymore. He even goes a step farther and kills the one mob boss (Gambol) who is the only one of the group of mob bosses that doesn't

Through the years, different interpretations of Batman characters would emerge. The 1960's Batman television series used a camp aesthetic, which
would continue to be related to the character, years after the popular show ended. Unhappy with this Batman from the TV series, creators tried with all
their power to return the "Dark Knight" to his even darker roots as a superhero. This started, in 1986 with Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns",
a comic book series, that would bring back Batman to what he was as a character in the beginning. To help even more, the Warner Brother's Batman

Analysis Of The Movie ' The Dark Knight '
What is the typical menu of villainous images placed before us when we dine out at a movie theater? A scientist has his face deep–cleaned in a bell jar
of acid to the epidermal enthusiasm of his "beauticians" (Darkman); a psychopathic criminal mastermind reigns chaos to the citizens of Gotham
(The Dark Knight) and another sequel, eight years on, despite his tarnished reputation after the events of The Dark Knight, in which he took the
rap for Dent 's crimes, caped crusader feels compelled to intervene to assist the city and its police force which is struggling to cope with the
villain's (who knows the caped crusader all too well) plans to destroy the city (The Dark Knight Rises). This raises the question; Is the role of the
villain in Hollywood important for a successful movie? In the movie industry, the success of a movie is based on the amount of revenue the movie
brings in, creativity (whether it be time frame or characters), and the story line of the movie. But in order to form a valid opinion on whether or not
a villain is needed in a movie to be considered successful, first we must discuss the history of movies that included villains, iconic movie villains and
the success of their movies, and finally, the importance of the villain in cinema. Literature Review/Background America's collective unconscious has
always been reflected and amplified by the portrayal of Hollywood villains. If one wanted to understand the big picture broad strokes of America, there

Although the Batman: Year one was released almost thirty years ago, it was one of the most popular, best known origins in popular culture because
of its true character and raw chain of events: a young boy becomes scarred for life after he sees his family murdered in a dark alley by a quarrelsome
mugger simply by chance. After years of training to be the greatest crime–fighter in the world evolves the Batman, one of the greatest superheroes of all
time and protector of Gotham City. Although there was one clear provenance when the original graphic novel was released, after two huge blockbuster
movies, almost half a dozen animated series, a greatly popular video game, and multiple other comic book interpretations, that origin has been morphed

The mistake was not accounting for the impact first person narration had over placing the characters and narrative action within their proper context
in the original comic. This mistake is vividly apparent in a scene where Batman is on one of his first adventures to fight crime in his costume where
he attacks three teenagers that are in the middle of robbing an apartment. The scene does not have much action to it besides the rookie Batman almost
throwing one of teens off a fire escape then saving him and fighting off the other two accomplices. After Batman defeats them and saves the other boy
he lies on the ground for a bit and mentally scolds himself for being a "lucky amateur". The scene in the original comic is much more different as
Wayne's emotions, feelings, observations, the context of actions, and his pain are much more apparent. They are portrayed through Wayne's first
person narration which is where most of the visual and mental content comes from in the scene, all of which is almost inexistent during the scene in the
animated version. Instead of slowly uncovering something else Batman was feeling during that scene through his first person narration, all that was
compressed and saved for when Wayne is on the ground scolding himself. The original scene was filled with emotional and narrative context and when
compared to the brief scene from the movie, which still makes its point, the comic simply blows the movie out of the

Heroes and their sidekicks have been a consistent motif in mythology from the very first civilization, to the ancient Greeks, and even to popular culture

a friendship. (SparkNotes Editors) They become so close that Gilgamesh's mother, Ninsun, adopts Enkidu as a son making Gilgamesh and Enkidu
brothers. Enkidu's purpose is to give Gilgamesh an equal and tone down his arrogance and selfish acts as king. Since Gilgamesh had a companion,
he desired to go on an adventure and kill something for their own personal glory. They decided to go and kill Humbaba. Because Gilgamesh now
had Enkidu, his focus shifted away from raping women and other cruel acts just as the elders prayed for. His subjects started to like Gilgamesh a lot
more especially after he and Enkidu kill the Bull of Heaven. Enkidu dies to an illness cast from the gods shortly after they defeat the Bull of Heaven.
(Daley) Gilgamesh mourns Enkidu's death by casting away his royal garments and casting himself into the wilderness while wearing Enkidu's clothing.
Enkidu's death shockingly reminds Gilgamesh of his own mortality. Gilgamesh then goes on an adventure to find the secret of immortality. While
Enkidu was alive, Gilgamesh was obsessed with being remembered forever. When Enkidu died, he became

What Does It Mean To You Essay
Everyone says things come and go so don't stress so much about what you can't control. (Ha that kind of rhymed)
Anyways ... people never tell you what you'll experience when "it" does arrive and when "it" eventually leaves. What I refer to as "it" is anything you
want to substitute it for. For me "it" refers to people.
If you will, join me and i'll take you on a tour of my own personal journey, enjoy :)
I understand what it feels like to have the world against you. Especially to the point where you feel so trapped and you feel like you're just not good
enough. I'm pretty sure you've all heard people say "I can be standing in a room full of people screaming at the top of my lungs and yet nobody seems
to hear me"
Sadly, that's how I felt. I'm a happy person, I genuinely love being positive. However, for some odd reason I was drowning in my own sorrow.
In those moments not only was I looking for happiness .... I was looking for REAL happiness because I wanted my positive attitude back.
I want all my viewers to know it's okay to feel sad but you need to brush it off, get back up and keep pushing forward. I want you to acknowledge that
there's nothing wrong with you. Whatever loss you've encountered understand that it's not your fault and something great will come out of it. I want
you to know that you're enough!
Truthfully, everyone will experience the pain of losing someone from time to time. There's just no way to avoid it. You could say I lost a lot of people

The Joker : The Nemesis Of Batman
One of the most memorable supervillains created by DC comics is the arch nemesis of Batman, the Joker. He made his first debut in the original
Batman comics in the spring of 1940. He gets his familiar name from the iconic playing card depicting a grinning clown with the stereotypical red nose
and puffy wig. The Joker was originally created as a filler for the first Batman #1 (1940) comic, but he is now hailed as one of the greatest comic book
villains ever created. From when he was created to Christopher Nolan's Batman cinematic trilogy, the Joker has been represented in many different
and conflicting ways. However, underneath his manic grin and crazy green hair, the Joker has always represented the inner madness and chaos
evident in humanity. He is the despised but also integral part of human nature. It is hard to imagine that the Joker was originally slated for death
after the first issue of Batman. However, the then editors of DC comics decided to allow this memorable and unique character to continue into future
issues of Batman comics. In the first couple issues of Batman, the Joker was a crazy psychopath who had no morals and killed anyone he wished,
letting no man stand in his way. From 1940 to 1952, the time period also known as the Golden Age of the Joker, he was steadily represented as an
immoral sociopath that killed for amusement. However, people attributed the rise in violence and misbehavior among young adults during that time
period to the violence and crime

Superman And Batman And The Great Depression

U.S History ComicsArial 'Mcclanahan Superman and batman and the great depression
More than 70 years ago, the very first superheroes debuted in the dire times of the Great Depression and the early years of World War II. Their names
became legend Superman and Batman or as he was then known, the Bat–Man), Wonder Woman, Captain America and they 're still with us today. A
new exhibit at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles celebrates these icons from the Golden Age of Comic Books. Through a collection of rare
original artwork and comics, the exhibit explores how a group of mostly Jewish artists created the costumed heroes who came to symbolize the hopes
of a beleaguered nation."ln the 1930s, the American Dream had become a nightmare, and I think comic books and superheroes in particular provided
an escapist form of entertainment that allowed the American public to go into a fantasy world where all the ills of the world were righted by these
largerВ than–life heroes," says Erin Clancy, a curator at the Skirball. Guest curator Jerry Robinson not only organized the exhibit, he 's a part of it. The
comic book pioneer created Batman 's arch–enemy, The Joker, and named the caped crusader 's sidekick Robin.
"We were just emerging from the Depression," Robinson recalls. "Superman started in 1938. Batman started in 1939. So, we were just recovering."
Robinson says the villains changed with the times. "The first villains in the comic books were

The Life Of Superman Saves Seven Children
Thinking back to my admittedly privileged childhood, the most vivid memory I had wasn 't of my first dance recital, or my first lacrosse game, or
even my first fist fight that I won against my seventh grade bully. It wasn 't even of the day when my father was brutally murdered in front of my
sister and I when we were thirteen. No, the most evocative memory I had was the day I purchased the newspaper for my parents at age twelve and
saw, sprawled across the cover, the headline that changed my life forever.
SUPERMAN SAVES SEVEN CHILDREN; PRAISED AS HERO ONCE MORE.
That day, I took my alarmingly large amount of allowance, went down to the novelty store across the road, and bought sixty seven dollars worth of
Superman merchandise. I came home with six comic books, three old newspapers, an action figure, a skimpy tank top that made its way to college
with me before being puked all over, and a notepad that would later fuel my journalistic obsession to become as great as Lois Lane, Superman 's girl
of choice.
A month after acquiring that first newspaper for my parents, my father left the world with a bullet hole placed cleanly in the center of both eyes.
Soon after my Superman obsession began to dwindle in my first year of college, the masked hero Batman faced off with his archenemy and made
headlines in Gotham, where I attended school. So I traded in my Superman shorts for a Batman shirt and went searching for him on the streets at night,
desperate.
Late in my third year of

The Dark Knight Rises By Frank Miller And Superman
INTRODUCTION This paper involves discovering how the morality of Batman and Superman has, or has not, changed throughout the happenings in
The Dark Knight Returns compared to their previous depictions. The goal of this paper is to show that the morality of Batman and Superman have
altered due to the extension of their personalities. The paper is claiming that Batman and Superman act as extensions of their formerly depicted selves
by overindulging in their personal beliefs and ideologies as each of them struggle to with their morality by trying to do the "right" thing in a world
gone wrong. This claim was created by examining and analyzing the primary text of The Dark Knight Rises by Frank Miller and by using various
credible online sources and interpretations of the graphic novel. Upon examination of the sources used, morality plays a key role in the character
development of two main characters of Batman and Superman. Through showing that the extension of personality has an impact on the perception of a
character, this paper and research highlight the differences and similarities of Batman and Superman in terms of morality and character development.
BACKGROUND
The Dark Knight Returns is a graphic novel by Frank Miller that focuses on the fictional superhero Batman, who is also known as Bruce Wayne. The
story takes place ten years after an aging Batman has retired and his once overly protected Gotham City, has sunk deeper into lawlessness, criminal
activity, and

(WORKING TITLE) Batman's duality as hero and hazard reflect how the capitalism present in America is both the problem and solution. As the third
installment in the Batman trilogy, a different tone is used when the hero is introduced in the beginning scene. In the preceding films, the hero has been
seen righting wrongs and serving justice by banishing the manipulative, toxic and evil villains Gotham is infested with. In the opening scene of The
Dark Knight Rises, Commissioner Gordon delivers a speech to honor the late Harvey Dent, former Gotham mayor, and his major contribution in ridding
the city's criminal activity. Dent was a symbol of hope and restoration from the economic decline Gotham faced and the gang activity that terrorized the
streets. Batman 2: The Dark Knight introduced the villainous Joker and his psychotic madness which led to Dent's own decline when the madman kills
Dent's lover. This sparked Dent's own madness and list of homicides. Wanting to preserve the hope Dent instilled onto the people and prevent chaos,
Batman takes the blame for Dent's transgression. And so, begins the duality of Batman.
Batman is the alter ego of wealthy and successful business man, Bruce Wayne. Wayne's parents were tragically murdered right in front of him when he
was young by an armed robber. This was the moment Wayne took an oath to himself that he would rid his city of the injustice and crime that killed his

Inspired, but Independent
Both Batwoman and Batman are vigilantes in the fictional city of Gotham. The characters mostly exist in the comics to help each other. With
Batwoman being initially created to set her partner's sexuality record straight, they take off to work together. Their existence in Gotham asBatman and
Batwoman, albeit being illegal, is much need by the residents who suffer in the hands of the highly skilled criminals – such as the Joker – who have
mastered their techniques. The police department is simply lacking in comparison to the skills of the criminals and they cannot help but watch as the
residents get terrorized. Furthermore, neither Batwoman nor Batman work for the government, hence their crime–solving is not biased ... Show more

Batwoman is comparable to a female version of Batman in the American comic book series, DC Comics. Her character is played secretly by Katherine
Kane, who, just like Batman, masks her face during the nights to fight crime. Just as Batman, she is a successful entrepreneur who has devoted her
wealth and skills to fighting crime. Again similarly, Batwoman does not possess any superpowers and relies on her military trainings to combat crime.
In short, both vigilante characters wear the bat costume to fight crime in Gotham. Nonetheless, Batwoman is an entirely independent superhero with her
own ways and rulebooks.
Both Batman and Batwoman are victims of crime and the pain and loss suffered from the criminal acts is their mutual driving force. Batman, at a
young age, lost both of his parents in a robbery shootout. When the crime happened, he did not know what to do – he simply watched as his parents'
bodies lay lifeless by the road. The image was forever imprinted on the boy's mind. He could not, no matter how hard he tried, to stop recounting the
night he became an orphan. After school and running a successful business, Wayne feels that he is ready to give back to the city by fighting criminals.
Just like Batman, Batwoman is driven by pain and vengeance. She shares in Batman's painful sentiment of loss as she herself lost a parent and a sister.
At the age twelve, on her birthday, Kate, her twin sister and her mother were kidnapped, but her mother and supposedly her sister

Compare And Contrast Superman And Batman
Comic books first appeared in the 18th century, but it was in the 1930's when they became really popular. The characters created conquered the hearts
of many people at that time. DC Comics, a publisher, released many stories that changed the cartoon world forever. The appearance of Superman in
1938 began the era of superheroes and revolutionized the comic industry. This character was followed by the equally successful Bat–man in 1939
("Comic book"). Superman and Bat–man both became known all over the world. The pair has greatly contributed to the American culture. Because of
their tremendous influence, from the very beginning, people have been wondering which one of these powerhouses is better than another, and how
dissimilar they really are. But actually, these superheroes are as different as they are alike. Superman andBatman have contrasting backgrounds,

patriot. He started to cooperate with the law enforcement to punish the wrongdoers. He used force, but killing people was not adhering to his moral
code. Similarly, at the beginning, Batman had troubles accepting the loss of his parents, and was also very vindictive. With Alfred's help, he managed
to channel his aggression towards a better cause (Guerrero). Although he remained untrusting and secretive, he began to help the police, who used a
special signal whenever the city was in danger. Like Superman, he sent villains to jail for years. Just as Superman, he restrained from killing people
because he believed in higher moral code. Both superhero characters transformed from being aggressive vigilantes to righteous men of

Morality In Batman
Morality is a recurrent motivational theme in Christopher's Nolan version of the hero. According to many of the Joker's action, he clearly acts upon
immorality as opposed to its contrary. However, how can Batman's actions be viewed? He is, like the villain, highly skilled in what he does, but still is
an outlaw. Although one is an agent of chaos and the other of justice, thejoker can be seen as a logical response to Batman. Alfred made a similar point
arguing that in desperation of the justice–maker criminals turned to someone that they didn't fully understand. Although Batman is viewed on the
positive side, to which extent can individual break the law to follow his own justice. Through these various interactions of morality interplay, the

Superheroes Essay
When you think of a superhero one normally thinks of Spiderman, Batman, or Superman, but there were superheroes long before these characters
were created. First one must understand that the basis of this name is hero. What is a hero? A hero is a person who does something special or out of
the ordinary in order to help others. It could also be someone who is admired for a characteristic about them, be it physical or mental. They are
individuals that normal everyday people can look up to. This being the case, a superhero is nothing more then someone who is a hero, but not just that

Back towards the beginning of American history we see superheroes arising for the first time in our culture. They were not necessarily able to fly
or see through walls. However, they were still extraordinary people. Their stories were passed from father to son and the story grew with every
telling. People like Paul Bunyan and Pecos Bill were just two of the many tales of the time which spoke of men doing extraordinary things. These
tales wouldn't excite forever, though. As years go by our country and its people become less and less naГЇve and craved more. A giant man with a blue
ox and an axe just could not suffice. People become more and more numb to pain and murder, and needed more than these tall tales.
It was soon after this that people began looking for someone else to admire, whether they were real or not. Someone who they can not overcome.
Someone who will lead them and help them be who they were meant to be. Some look to politicians, others to mob leaders, but either way they are
just looking for answers. This became harder for the youth to find. Sure they had their mothers and fathers, but they could only do so much for them.
Then comic books and television came into play. Here they could see these seemingly ordinary people doing amazing things. They wanted to be just
like them. It gave them structure and a feeling of guidance. They knew what they wanted to do and they began trying to do it. Now,

Narrative Essay About Batman
In times of crisis, I look for Batman. Batman has always been there to help me and all people who are in need. Though he is interiorly fictional ,
Batman has impacted thousands of lives, Including mine. These people he has entertained when they have read his stories. He has also inspired these
people to be good citizens.I first learned of Batman when I watched his animated series as a child. I remember that I was amazed by his black and
gray costume. I also loved his villains, and his gadgets. Hours of my childhood were spent watching Batman in his many adventures. My memory of
Batman goes back so far that I cannot remember a time when I did not know who Batman was. Now that I am an adult I wonder, Why does Batman
appeal to me so much? Could it be his costume. No, I find other super hero costume far superior. Do Batman's villains draw me to Batman. The villain
do entertain me, However, I do not find them as interesting as Batman. Then why do I love Batman? The admiration I now have for Batman goes
deeper than the superficial aspects of the characters such as his costumes, gadget, or villains. What instigates my desire to learn as much as I can about
the character are his deeper core elements, such as His tragedy, humanity, and morality.
The tragedy of Batman begins with the death of Bruce Wayne. Bruce Wayne was the son of the wealthy Thomas and Martha Wayne. He had all he
needed. However, when the Wayne's family walked home from a visit to the movie theater one night,

Batm Batman, A Hero Or A Villain?
GOTHAM– Batman is leaving a legacy not only to the people of Gotham, but in the heart of Gotham as well. He has kept the streets of Gotham safe
from the evil that our fair city possesses. From the elite people of Gotham to those in the Narrows, we give thanks to our beloved caped crusader for
all his work for Gotham.
There are those who believe that Batman is a another vigilante wearing a mask. Even Commissioner James Gordon many years ago stated these words
about the caped crusader " He's the hero that Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because
he's not our hero. he's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A Dark Knight." Our commissioner's words never stopped the Batman in his fight against
the forces of evil nor the hope of the people of Gotham for a better city.
"You either die a hero... or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain." These words were once state by Gotham's former district attorney
Harvey Dent commonly known as Two–Face. Many who take these words to heart have the same question that plague the people of Gotham. Is
Batman, a hero or a villain? What is the legacy that he is leaving us with?
That is up to the people of Gotham to say as it their opinion for the caped crusader has impacted the lives of all that live in Gotham in one way or
another. So I went to the only place I knew that I would find the answers to my questions. From the city itself and its people to find the

The Knight Is Darkest Just Before The Dawn
When I reached the conclusion of Batman: Arkham Knight after 12 hours of solid pacing, I literally stood behind my chair like a five–year–old
cheering for his favorite superhero, biting my nails as I could no longer wait to see how it would all end. Not only does the finale of Batman: Arkham
Knight grant the legendary Arkham series the ending it deserves, but it also introduces so many new gameplay mechanics that it manages to outdo the
previous installments in the series, thus becoming the very best comic book game in existence. If I am to be completely honest here, I have to say that
Batman: Arkham Knight is possibly one of the best video games I ever got to play, period.

In these separate side–missions, you will mostly be spending your time beating up thugs while chasing villains like Firefly, Two–Face and Penguin,
which doesn't always work in the game's favor. Most side–missions end with you confronting the villain behind it all, and instead of it going down with
a good old–fashioned boss fight, villains are easily knocked out by performing a Takedown of sorts (e.g. Stealth Takedown, Vehicle Takedown and
Dual Takedown). This is probably my biggest complaint with Batman: Arkham Knight, because I for one truly enjoyed the recurrent boss fight in
previous Arkham games. In any case, almost all of these side–missions are varied enough that they will keep you interested, and if not, you can always

The Dark Knight Analysis
In 1989, Batman's revival in cinema has awakened with Tim Burton's Batman, which adapted the past comic book iteration of the hero as a dark and
broody hero. It establishes the epic rivalry between Batman and his greatest nemesis, the Joker. Although, the movie's core audience gained further
significance with the young or comic book readers, relative to the general audience. Reviews from critics received positive acclaim, but few noted that
the film was gloomy.
After many poorly received sequels such as Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin, many fans lost faith with the caped crusader will ever have another
successful film. In 2008, Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight where the return of the rivalry between Batman and the Joker presents again on the
silver screen. The film's release received high critical acclaim, and us nominated for six Academy Awards and winning two for Best Supporting Actor
and Best Sound Editing. While Tim Burton's film remains successful, its popularity increased with the comic book or younger demographic.
Christopher Nolan's modern adaptation of the superhero resulted in more positive acclaims with the general audience due to its mature and modern
tones rather than Tim Burton's film receiving general to average ratings. One of the biggest factors of this is realized with the art and presentation.
Most obvious is the design of the Batsuit. While both movies share the core design of a dark and sleek costume, Christopher Nolan's design is

How Did Batman Kill The Joker
Let's take a look at Bruce Wayne (Batman). As a kid, he watched his parents being murdered by a mugger right in front of him and this drove him to

himself. Combined with the death of his wife, he was driven insane, effectively becoming The Joker. Each one of these character's are very unique, but
in different ways.
I can remember as a kid watching Batman & Robin on black and white television, how the Joker always committed crimes, murdered, etc. I can recall

The Negative Impact Of Body Shaming In The Brand Of...
While Forever 21 hires countless models to represent their brand, Chrissy Teigen, one of the most sought–after supermodels, was fired for being "too

perceive their own bodies. We must learn to accept each other because everyone's different in their own ways, and not everyone has a "perfect body."
As the years progressed, the store became more accepting to our society. Forever 21 is a fashion brand that promotes the latest trends that target young
adults and teens through the stores, social media, and their models. Today, the company provides a diverse atmosphere that invites middle–class young
adults and teens in any gender, size, and ethnicity that mainly targets fit, light–skinned young women who are into the latest fashion trends.
The arrangement and spacings of the furniture give Forever 21 a modern look to draw in their target customers. For example, their pieces of furniture.
Customers who walk in the store will observe white furniture such as tables and shelves throughout the store, which makes the store look spacious for
the items to look neat and presentable. Although the store has many pieces of furniture, the store does not provide benches or chairs throughout the
store for the customers to sit on. Shopping in this store can be exhausting due to the numerous amount of products that are being sold in the store.

Pros And Cons Of Batman And Superman
Batman and Superman are DC's most valuable super heroes. They fight crime, help those in need, and protect their cities. Truly that is hero, someone
we should look up to. Or is it? Today I was tasked with deciding whether or not, Batman and Superman do more harm than good as role models and
cultural icons. I have come to the conclusion that they do more harm than good. It's important to note that I will be basing most of my information on
the Superman and Batman movie. I have 3 main reasons why I believe this, 1 they are not relatable, 2 they solve their problems through violence, and
3 they are very dark. Let's begin with point one.
The first reason why I agree with the statement, "As role models and cultural icons, Batman and Superman do more harm than good." Is because of
how unrelatable they are to people. Starting with Superman, he is an alien from a different world. He has powers that no one on earth can attain,
unbreakable skin, laser eyes, the ability to fly by himself, and X–ray vision (Superman's). No one can relate to any of those powers (Superman).
Meanwhile, Batman is an orphan, who has billions of dollars. Some people can relate with the loss of a loved one but very, very few have access to
even a million dollars. We look at them and see something that we can never be. Batman and Superman are role models and cultural icons that do more
harm than good.
The second reason why Batman and Superman as role models and cultural icons do more harm than good is because they solve the majority of their
problems through violence. Dr. Sharon Lamb states, "Today'ssuperhero is too much like an action hero who participates in non–stop violence...rarely
speaks to the virtue of doing good for humanity," (Chivers). She is 100% correct in this. In the 2013 movie, Man of Steel, our "hero" flies about
destroying the city he swore to protect. Buildings fall, lives are taken, and superman brings up no mention of any virtue by the end of the film. He
uses violence. This continues on in basically every show that includes him. Bad guy shows up, does a bad thing, and Superman flies over, beats up
the villain and wins the day. Now we examine Batman. He does the exact same thing, gliding around his city beating up crime and

Preserving The Good Within Ourselves
Preserving the Good within Ourselves: Fiction Superhero shows and movies have become incredibly popular over the last decade. Whether you're
an adult or a child, the variety of superhero shows and movies appeal to all ages and have become an obsessive source of entertainment. With new
technology, superheroes and villains that were once pages in a comic book have come to life in ways the older generation of fans would never have
imagined. Ever since Christopher Reeve played Superman in 1978, three sequels and many more remakes followed suit (Yueh). Ever since the original
X–men film was released in 2000; half a dozen new movies have been released every year since which totals to about 61 movies (Yueh). The
Avengers along with four other films grossed more than 1 billion dollars in the box office, making movie history. What makes superheroes, as well as
villains so fascinating? For decades, society had found comfort, hope, and inspiration in superheroes. The idea of having a superhero is fascinating
because one person possess inherently good qualities to carry the burden of others. A superhero is kind and fearless while continuously putting others
before themselves. They usually possess amazing abilities or powers, allowing them to handle a situation in a way a normal person couldn't. They
can be compared to Greek Gods, but because they also have flaws we are able to relate and connect with them. Superheroes have the capacity to single

Essay On Batman Verses Leeann

  • 1. Essay on Batman Verses Leeann "Batman" She shouted "What?" "I finally figured it out I'm going to call you." She said with the biggest grin on her face. "You are my dark knight so batman is the only name that fits" From that day on everyone started calling me batman. People create nicknames based upon their own needs. Some need a new insult others need a change, a fresh start. All must encounter the same problem at some point in time. What does this nickname really mean and when does it begin to take your place in life. I had to ask myself at what point did I start sharing my life with an internal monster. One that thrived off of attention, power, and the weak will of others. At what point do you notice that you are no longer you. I quickly became Batman also known ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To me your name is a memory that you should forever hold on to. It is your direct link to the past, present, and future. It is your heritage and it is how you should be remembered. She argued that birth names were as bad as brands on cattle. I wrapped her response around my brain until it cut off circulation. I couldn't help but pass out in exhaustion and frustration. Questions dancing a deadly tango in my head. I could no longer think rationally like Leeann, soon all my thoughts and ideas were processed like Batman. There was something in this nickname that I rebelled from. Fighting a civil war within myself, attempting to be the victor. This isn't what I signed up for when I came to college. They say college is a place where you find yourself. Where you make important life decisions like what clubs you will join and who you will interact with. Most people find themselves but I somehow managed to lose myself. I lost myself in the limelight of college the parties and this intimate yet destructive relationship. Somehow I found myself in her, she had given me something I didn't know I was looking for. She gave me a name with meaning, she gave me a strong image of reality, but most importantly she gave me my first regret. Nicknames are intimate things given from person to person. No matter their nature nicknames are attached to strong emotions may they be negative or positive. You are given a name based on you or the persons needs at that point in time. Angelique needed a ... Don your green suit, your thinking camp and dive into the world of riddles and puzzles with Edward Nygma. Do you have a favorite riddle? Are enemies of the mind more formidable than enemies of strength? Does The Riddler have any real superpowers? As you make your way through the lesson, add to the conversation by either reading directly from the Background Information or by ad–libbing in your own words. Edward Nygma, also known as The Riddler, is one of Batman's arch enemies. The Riddler and Batman are very similar because neither of them have any superpowers. Instead, they're both extremely smart, relying on their intellect to achieve their goals. The Riddler is obsessed with riddles, puzzles and brain teasers. He uses his mastery of puzzles to try and outsmart Batman. Can you solve The Riddler's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Were any of the teams able to duplicate the brick structure? On Day 9, your physical abilities were tested. Today, your problem solving skills were tested. Tomorrow, your engineering skills will be tested. Batman needs your help in rebuilding the once great city of Gotham. Much of it lies in a pile of rubble, creating a maze that seems impossible to navigate. • 4. Movie Analysis: Dumb And Dumber Jim Carrey can now be listed to the roster of celebrities that have used Randy Combs' 34–foot Dodge Ram limousine. The 14–passenger limousine equipped with a hot tub in it's bed is lined up to appear in at the very least one scene in Dumb and Dumber to, a new movie that is expected to arrive in theaters this November. Combs stated that Jim Carrey, who will portray Lloyd Christmas in the film, drives the limo to transport his prom date in the movie. Our guess is that this occurs in the film during a flashback scene, since the movie is set 20 years subsequent to the events in Dumb and Dumber, the original film. However, Combs isn't sure of that. • 5. The Superhero Genre Is Classified By A Fight Of Good Vs. Evil The superhero genre is classified by a fight of good vs. evil. The heroes and the villains are complex characters driven by motives that are not always black and white. Besides dealing with fictional characters, superhero comic books often incorporate real life difficulties, such as racism, sexism, and drug use. The storylines are driven by the superheroes fight against the forces of evil, but the underlying story often deals with conflicting moral dilemmas and self–doubt. The superheroes have secret identities and strut around in colorful costumes, but behind these personas, lay a story of triumph and defeat. The true appeal of comics is not the colorful character who follows it but the dark, gritty storylines that cause the reader to view the world and humanity in a new light. In "Batman #134", written in 1960 by Bill Finger, a few of these requirements are addressed. This comic follows Batman and Robin's adventure in an undisclosed South American republic. The major conflict lies with a man named Diaz, who releases a monster known as "The Rainbow Creature." This creature terrorizes the village until Batman uses his world–class detective skills to defeat the beast. The comic tells the story of a wounded Batman and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Goals Of Social Media How many times have you read or been told that in order to keep yourself accountable to your goals, that you should announce them to the people around you? This is something that we see in many books and articles and we see people following this information as they post their goals on social media. However, how many times do we actually see them accomplish these goals? New studies are actually showing that announcing your goals is one of the worst things that you can do if you really want to achieve them. Why? The reason is because of naysayers. Those people who do not want to see you succeed for whatever reason. I spoke briefly about these people in the previous chapter. They are the people who do not want to believe in you, they do not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That scares them. How to Deal with Naysayers The fact is that you are not going to change the people around you. There is no way for you to make them believe in you. However, you can change yourself and how you deal with the negativity that they bring into your life. The first thing that you need to remember is that you more to yourself than you do to the naysayers. What is it that you owe these people, which is forcing you to prove them right? Really think about what I am saying. These people do not pay your bills, they do not raise your children and they are not in control of anything in your life. Remaining in a situation where you are unhappy just to make them happy seems a little silly. Ask yourself, what could they lose by you finding happiness and reaching your goals. These people might even try to convince you that you are fine just the way that you are in order to stop you from making the changes that you want to make. You see, they are stealthy, most of them won't make it obvious that they are trying to hold you back, but instead will try to convince you that they care about you, just as you are. It is important for you to remember that these people need for you to fail. You see, if you fail, they can continue to tell themselves that there is no point in trying to get healthy because if you weren't successful they won't be either. It is just another way for them to come up with an excuse, a reason that they shouldn't worry about their

  • 8. Batman The Unexpected Cultural Revolution Summary Critique of "Batman, The unexpected Cultural Revolution" In the essay "Batman, The Unexpected Cultural Revolution" Chris Gould sheds light on Batman, and how the comics are described as dismal yet the show was made to be laughable with a main character described as gentle. The main point of Gould's essay is that the show has become a "pop art utopia" (pg. 268) and how it shaped the morals of a young generation. "The Batman TV show thus became a depiction of pop art utopia, where bright colors forever defeated darkness, where creativity forever defeated logic and Good forever triumphed over Evil." (Gould 1). The author of "Batman, the unexpected Cultural Revolution" made the argument that Batman left a lasting impact on society and he uses valid information to prove his point. Chris Gould explains how William Dozier introduced Batman, the crime fighting superhero, to TV in 1966. The show was about a man in a suit that fought crime with his teenage sidekick. The show was aimed at families, it wanted to send a positive message to younger viewers. Gould also notes that the show analized a number of trends that were occurring during that time such as; the hippie movement, corruption in politics, the power of technology, and pop art. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gould is impassive in his essay, however, the show scorned hippies on two separate occasions. The first time hippies were scorned when "A flower–power criminal named Louis the Lilac, played by Milton Berle, was created to illustrate this point, expressing the belief that hippies could be controlled and manipulated to serve his own nefarious ends."(Gould 270).Gould uses this to provide evidence for his claim that writers disliked the young social movements, so it was surprising the show actually became as popular with pop art. • 9. The Modern Medieval Hero The Modern Medieval Hero The Modern Medieval Hero Bruce Wayne was only but a child when he watched helplessly as his parents were gunned down in front of him during a mugging in Gotham City. This crime would come to define his life. To the public, he would excel and succeed his father and become the heir and millionaire of the Wayne corporation. In secret, he would dedicate himself to becoming one of the world's greatest weapons against crime–the Batman. Batman perfectly embodies the idea of a hero. He combats crime in the city of Gotham with relative ease having pushed himself to the absolute pinnacle of physical human achievement while simultaneously wielding a mastery of fighting techniques and an arsenal of advanced crime–fighting technology. An intellectually brilliant detective with a plan for any and every occasion, seemingly always ahead of his foes. Batman battles anything from common thugs and criminals on city streets, to super villains and psychopaths wielding weapons or tools that could mean an end for not only himself but for the city he strives to protect. The common criminals do not pose a threat to Batman himself, but he fights them to save the people of Gotham City in accordance with a strong ethical code. He releases criminals to the authorities instead of handling them at his own discretion. The criminals in his career typically do not pose such an immediate and large enough threat to civilian lives and so Batman will not kill them, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. How Batman Has Changed over the Past 70 Years How has the Dc Comics superhero Batman changed over the past 70 years? How has design influenced the development of the various costumes for the character and how are Batman films reflecting darker forces within US Society? From Comic book Hero to national icon. Introduction In this dissertation I will discuss how DC Comics have developed and improved the design of their comic books since their establishment in 1937. I will compare comics from past and present and talk about the different styles of comic books that have been released from the company. • 11. Summary Of The Essay 'Not Rants' Essays, Not Rants! 218: A Response There's a recent New York Times article I came across that laments how the rise of the superhero genre has conflated actor–stardom with character–stardom. The article itself doesn't really chase down the points too well, but the central gist (as far as I can see) is that in the recent slate of films, characters have come to trump actors. As Wesley Morris suggests in the article, when you watch Oceans Eleven, it's George Clooney doing all the cool stuff as Danny Ocean; but when you watch Rush, you don't see Chris Hemsworth as James Hunt, you see Thor as James Hunt. And as more big name actors get roped in to superhero films (Cate Blanchett's gonna be in Thor: Ragnarok!), it's more actors being roped in to playing a specific character. Which makes Morris' point of view seem a little weird. He implies that the fun of Ocean's Eleven is seeing the star–studded cast play off of each other, whereas Civil War is more about watching the characters interact; the former being better. Which begs the question of whether or not you're supposed to forget that it's an actor playing a character and not something happening before you. Now, the attitude here feels a lot like that kid who's angry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Which, alright, sure; but we've also changed from the studio system of the '50s. Marvel with the MCU (and, Fox with X–Men and DC with their attempts at catchup) are working on a new form of storytelling, one that sits somewhere at the nexus of film, television, comics, and those old serials from forever ago. Maybe it's time that the nature of stardom changes, what with the steady rise of nerd culture into the mainstream. After all, the geeks shall inherit the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He had the chance to save her but he couldn't. It was too dark and he could not see but only hear the screams of his wife being beaten to her last breath. This fueled his fear of the dark. Over the course of 4 months he mourned and turned his attention to becoming a vigilante. He knew he had to be more than the Batman and live by his own code. Then He flips the gun in one hand and thumps the handle of the gun against Dr. cranes temple knocking him unconscious. The chemical mixer beeps and the chemical agent is ready. For quite a long time, Bob Kane has been credited as Batman's maker. As time passed, gossipy tidbits twirled that the Caped Crusader had another father. Who was this man? Batman and Bill recounts the account of the un–credited maker of Batman, and a campaign to bring him justice. You can see Kane's name in every book or movie involving Batman but not everyone actually knew who created the Dark Knight we all know and love. This can relate to the film because the symbol is shown numerous times throughout the documentary and has many meaning whether it's for Batman himself or the secret identity of this characters creator. Comics themself can symbolize happiness or an interest for others, or just for enjoyment for fans like myself. At the end of the film the supposed truth about Bill's death is told. • 15. The Joker: The Villain In The Dark Knight In the movie, "The Dark Knight," the main villain is a sadistic criminal, who refers to himself as the "Joker." This evil, twisted and brilliant character is the arch–nemesis of Batman, the "Caped Crusader" who watches over and protects the much beleaguered and crime–ridden Gotham City. The Joker wreaks havoc on Gotham, using its buildings, streets, and inhabitants as his personal experiment in uncontrolled destruction. His ultimate goal is to throw Gotham City into chaos, proving without question that nobody is safe as long as he controls the city. In "The Dark Night," he develops a four–step plan, ensuring that Gotham remains under his power and is thrown headlong into complete chaos. The first part of the Joker's plan was to get the top members of the Gotham City mob on his side. Even though he's an evil mastermind, the Joker is only so much he can do on his own. • 20. Analysis Of The Movie ' The Dark Knight ' What is the typical menu of villainous images placed before us when we dine out at a movie theater? A scientist has his face deep–cleaned in a bell jar of acid to the epidermal enthusiasm of his "beauticians" (Darkman); a psychopathic criminal mastermind reigns chaos to the citizens of Gotham (The Dark Knight) and another sequel, eight years on, despite his tarnished reputation after the events of The Dark Knight, in which he took the rap for Dent 's crimes, caped crusader feels compelled to intervene to assist the city and its police force which is struggling to cope with the villain's (who knows the caped crusader all too well) plans to destroy the city (The Dark Knight Rises). This raises the question; Is the role of the villain in Hollywood important for a successful movie? In the movie industry, the success of a movie is based on the amount of revenue the movie brings in, creativity (whether it be time frame or characters), and the story line of the movie. But in order to form a valid opinion on whether or not a villain is needed in a movie to be considered successful, first we must discuss the history of movies that included villains, iconic movie villains and the success of their movies, and finally, the importance of the villain in cinema. After years of training to be the greatest crime–fighter in the world evolves the Batman, one of the greatest superheroes of all time and protector of Gotham City. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The mistake was not accounting for the impact first person narration had over placing the characters and narrative action within their proper context in the original comic. This mistake is vividly apparent in a scene where Batman is on one of his first adventures to fight crime in his costume where he attacks three teenagers that are in the middle of robbing an apartment. The scene does not have much action to it besides the rookie Batman almost throwing one of teens off a fire escape then saving him and fighting off the other two accomplices. After Batman defeats them and saves the other boy he lies on the ground for a bit and mentally scolds himself for being a "lucky amateur". The scene in the original comic is much more different as Wayne's emotions, feelings, observations, the context of actions, and his pain are much more apparent. They are portrayed through Wayne's first person narration which is where most of the visual and mental content comes from in the scene, all of which is almost inexistent during the scene in the animated version. Instead of slowly uncovering something else Batman was feeling during that scene through his first person narration, all that was compressed and saved for when Wayne is on the ground scolding himself. The original scene was filled with emotional and narrative context and when compared to the brief scene from the movie, which still makes its point, the comic simply blows the movie out of the ... He made his first debut in the original Batman comics in the spring of 1940. He gets his familiar name from the iconic playing card depicting a grinning clown with the stereotypical red nose and puffy wig. The Joker was originally created as a filler for the first Batman #1 (1940) comic, but he is now hailed as one of the greatest comic book villains ever created. From when he was created to Christopher Nolan's Batman cinematic trilogy, the Joker has been represented in many different and conflicting ways. However, underneath his manic grin and crazy green hair, the Joker has always represented the inner madness and chaos evident in humanity. He is the despised but also integral part of human nature. It is hard to imagine that the Joker was originally slated for death after the first issue of Batman. However, the then editors of DC comics decided to allow this memorable and unique character to continue into future issues of Batman comics. In the first couple issues of Batman, the Joker was a crazy psychopath who had no morals and killed anyone he wished, letting no man stand in his way. From 1940 to 1952, the time period also known as the Golden Age of the Joker, he was steadily represented as an immoral sociopath that killed for amusement. The Life Of Superman Saves Seven Children Thinking back to my admittedly privileged childhood, the most vivid memory I had wasn 't of my first dance recital, or my first lacrosse game, or even my first fist fight that I won against my seventh grade bully. It wasn 't even of the day when my father was brutally murdered in front of my sister and I when we were thirteen. No, the most evocative memory I had was the day I purchased the newspaper for my parents at age twelve and saw, sprawled across the cover, the headline that changed my life forever. SUPERMAN SAVES SEVEN CHILDREN; PRAISED AS HERO ONCE MORE. That day, I took my alarmingly large amount of allowance, went down to the novelty store across the road, and bought sixty seven dollars worth of Superman merchandise. I came home with six comic books, three old newspapers, an action figure, a skimpy tank top that made its way to college with me before being puked all over, and a notepad that would later fuel my journalistic obsession to become as great as Lois Lane, Superman 's girl of choice. A month after acquiring that first newspaper for my parents, my father left the world with a bullet hole placed cleanly in the center of both eyes. Soon after my Superman obsession began to dwindle in my first year of college, the masked hero Batman faced off with his archenemy and made headlines in Gotham, where I attended school. The Dark Knight Rises By Frank Miller And Superman INTRODUCTION This paper involves discovering how the morality of Batman and Superman has, or has not, changed throughout the happenings in The Dark Knight Returns compared to their previous depictions. The goal of this paper is to show that the morality of Batman and Superman have altered due to the extension of their personalities. The paper is claiming that Batman and Superman act as extensions of their formerly depicted selves by overindulging in their personal beliefs and ideologies as each of them struggle to with their morality by trying to do the "right" thing in a world gone wrong. This claim was created by examining and analyzing the primary text of The Dark Knight Rises by Frank Miller and by using various credible online sources and interpretations of the graphic novel. Upon examination of the sources used, morality plays a key role in the character development of two main characters of Batman and Superman. Through showing that the extension of personality has an impact on the perception of a character, this paper and research highlight the differences and similarities of Batman and Superman in terms of morality and character development. The Dark Knight Figures In 'The Dark Knight Rises' Monica Yip Carrie Jean Schroeder English 1C 30 August 2017 (WORKING TITLE) Batman's duality as hero and hazard reflect how the capitalism present in America is both the problem and solution. As the third installment in the Batman trilogy, a different tone is used when the hero is introduced in the beginning scene. In the preceding films, the hero has been seen righting wrongs and serving justice by banishing the manipulative, toxic and evil villains Gotham is infested with. In the opening scene of The Dark Knight Rises, Commissioner Gordon delivers a speech to honor the late Harvey Dent, former Gotham mayor, and his major contribution in ridding the city's criminal activity. Dent was a symbol of hope and restoration from the economic decline Gotham faced and the gang activity that terrorized the streets. Batman 2: The Dark Knight introduced the villainous Joker and his psychotic madness which led to Dent's own decline when the madman kills Dent's lover. This sparked Dent's own madness and list of homicides. Wanting to preserve the hope Dent instilled onto the people and prevent chaos, Batman takes the blame for Dent's transgression. And so, begins the duality of Batman. Batman is the alter ego of wealthy and successful business man, Bruce Wayne. Again similarly, Batwoman does not possess any superpowers and relies on her military trainings to combat crime. In short, both vigilante characters wear the bat costume to fight crime in Gotham. Nonetheless, Batwoman is an entirely independent superhero with her own ways and rulebooks. Both Batman and Batwoman are victims of crime and the pain and loss suffered from the criminal acts is their mutual driving force. Batman, at a young age, lost both of his parents in a robbery shootout. When the crime happened, he did not know what to do – he simply watched as his parents' bodies lay lifeless by the road. Our commissioner's words never stopped the Batman in his fight against the forces of evil nor the hope of the people of Gotham for a better city. "You either die a hero... or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain." These words were once state by Gotham's former district attorney Harvey Dent commonly known as Two–Face. Many who take these words to heart have the same question that plague the people of Gotham. Is Batman, a hero or a villain? What is the legacy that he is leaving us with? That is up to the people of Gotham to say as it their opinion for the caped crusader has impacted the lives of all that live in Gotham in one way or another. So I went to the only place I knew that I would find the answers to my questions. From the city itself and its people to find the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Arkham Knight Research Paper The Knight Is Darkest Just Before The Dawn When I reached the conclusion of Batman: Arkham Knight after 12 hours of solid pacing, I literally stood behind my chair like a five–year–old cheering for his favorite superhero, biting my nails as I could no longer wait to see how it would all end. Not only does the finale of Batman: Arkham Knight grant the legendary Arkham series the ending it deserves, but it also introduces so many new gameplay mechanics that it manages to outdo the previous installments in the series, thus becoming the very best comic book game in existence. If I am to be completely honest here, I have to say that Batman: Arkham Knight is possibly one of the best video games I ever got to play, period. Hold my hand, honey. Now push. Come on, push!Hold my hand, honey. Now push. Come on, push! Whereas previous Arkham titles told their stories by implementing as many iconic super villains as humanly possible, that of Batman: Arkham Knight is much more focused and centered. The menacing ... In these separate side–missions, you will mostly be spending your time beating up thugs while chasing villains like Firefly, Two–Face and Penguin, which doesn't always work in the game's favor. Most side–missions end with you confronting the villain behind it all, and instead of it going down with a good old–fashioned boss fight, villains are easily knocked out by performing a Takedown of sorts (e.g. Stealth Takedown, Vehicle Takedown and Dual Takedown). This is probably my biggest complaint with Batman: Arkham Knight, because I for one truly enjoyed the recurrent boss fight in previous Arkham games. In any case, almost all of these side–missions are varied enough that they will keep you interested, and if not, you can always choose to chase another villain and come back to the initial mission later thanks to the simple and clear Mission ... • 37. The Dark Knight Analysis In 1989, Batman's revival in cinema has awakened with Tim Burton's Batman, which adapted the past comic book iteration of the hero as a dark and broody hero. It establishes the epic rivalry between Batman and his greatest nemesis, the Joker. Although, the movie's core audience gained further significance with the young or comic book readers, relative to the general audience. Reviews from critics received positive acclaim, but few noted that the film was gloomy. After many poorly received sequels such as Batman Forever, and Batman & Robin, many fans lost faith with the caped crusader will ever have another successful film. In 2008, Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight where the return of the rivalry between Batman and the Joker presents again on the silver screen. The film's release received high critical acclaim, and us nominated for six Academy Awards and winning two for Best Supporting Actor and Best Sound Editing. While Tim Burton's film remains successful, its popularity increased with the comic book or younger demographic. Christopher Nolan's modern adaptation of the superhero resulted in more positive acclaims with the general audience due to its mature and modern tones rather than Tim Burton's film receiving general to average ratings. One of the biggest factors of this is realized with the art and presentation. Most obvious is the design of the Batsuit. While both movies share the core design of a dark and sleek costume, Christopher Nolan's design is influenced ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. How Did Batman Kill The Joker Let's take a look at Bruce Wayne (Batman). As a kid, he watched his parents being murdered by a mugger right in front of him and this drove him to fight crime in Gotham City as Batman. Now we take a look at the Joker was a one–time failed comedian who turned to a life of crime as the Red Hood to support his pregnant wife. Unfortunately, due to a run–in with Batman, the Red Hood leaped into a chemical vat to escape, thereby disfiguring himself. Combined with the death of his wife, he was driven insane, effectively becoming The Joker. Each one of these character's are very unique, but in different ways. I can remember as a kid watching Batman & Robin on black and white television, how the Joker always committed crimes, murdered, etc. I can recall asking my grandfather why Batman never kills the Joker in any of the episodes and he basically told me that if Batman killed the Joker, what would be the purpose of watching the show? ... All of these are present in today's society and you only see Batman in the movies or comics. I think that we are too disconnected from the Dark Knight and the issues of Gotham City, so it may be easy for us to say go ahead and kill him. If that disconnect suggests that there's more at stake in our society today, why aren't we tougher on our actual criminals than we are on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Negative Impact Of Body Shaming In The Brand Of... While Forever 21 hires countless models to represent their brand, Chrissy Teigen, one of the most sought–after supermodels, was fired for being "too fat." Body shaming is one of the main issues that young people face in today's society, and this can send out negative effects on how young people perceive their own bodies. We must learn to accept each other because everyone's different in their own ways, and not everyone has a "perfect body." As the years progressed, the store became more accepting to our society. Forever 21 is a fashion brand that promotes the latest trends that target young adults and teens through the stores, social media, and their models. Today, the company provides a diverse atmosphere that invites middle–class young adults and teens in any gender, size, and ethnicity that mainly targets fit, light–skinned young women who are into the latest fashion trends. The arrangement and spacings of the furniture give Forever 21 a modern look to draw in their target customers. For example, their pieces of furniture. Customers who walk in the store will observe white furniture such as tables and shelves throughout the store, which makes the store look spacious for the items to look neat and presentable. Although the store has many pieces of furniture, the store does not provide benches or chairs throughout the store for the customers to sit on. • 40. Pros And Cons Of Batman And Superman Batman and Superman are DC's most valuable super heroes. They fight crime, help those in need, and protect their cities. Truly that is hero, someone we should look up to. Or is it? Today I was tasked with deciding whether or not, Batman and Superman do more harm than good as role models and cultural icons. I have come to the conclusion that they do more harm than good. It's important to note that I will be basing most of my information on the Superman and Batman movie. I have 3 main reasons why I believe this, 1 they are not relatable, 2 they solve their problems through violence, and 3 they are very dark. Let's begin with point one. The first reason why I agree with the statement, "As role models and cultural icons, Batman and Superman do more harm than good." Is because of how unrelatable they are to people. Starting with Superman, he is an alien from a different world. He has powers that no one on earth can attain, unbreakable skin, laser eyes, the ability to fly by himself, and X–ray vision (Superman's). No one can relate to any of those powers (Superman). Meanwhile, Batman is an orphan, who has billions of dollars. Some people can relate with the loss of a loved one but very, very few have access to even a million dollars. We look at them and see something that we can never be. Batman and Superman are role models and cultural icons that do more harm than good. The second reason why Batman and Superman as role models and cultural icons do more harm than good is because they solve the majority of their problems through violence. Dr. Sharon Lamb states, "Today'ssuperhero is too much like an action hero who participates in non–stop violence...rarely speaks to the virtue of doing good for humanity," (Chivers). She is 100% correct in this. In the 2013 movie, Man of Steel, our "hero" flies about destroying the city he swore to protect. Buildings fall, lives are taken, and superman brings up no mention of any virtue by the end of the film. He uses violence. This continues on in basically every show that includes him. Bad guy shows up, does a bad thing, and Superman flies over, beats up the villain and wins the day. Now we examine Batman. He does the exact same thing, gliding around his city beating up crime and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Preserving The Good Within Ourselves Preserving the Good within Ourselves: Fiction Superhero shows and movies have become incredibly popular over the last decade. Whether you're an adult or a child, the variety of superhero shows and movies appeal to all ages and have become an obsessive source of entertainment. With new technology, superheroes and villains that were once pages in a comic book have come to life in ways the older generation of fans would never have imagined. Ever since Christopher Reeve played Superman in 1978, three sequels and many more remakes followed suit (Yueh). Ever since the original X–men film was released in 2000; half a dozen new movies have been released every year since which totals to about 61 movies (Yueh). The Avengers along with four other films grossed more than 1 billion dollars in the box office, making movie history. What makes superheroes, as well as villains so fascinating? For decades, society had found comfort, hope, and inspiration in superheroes. The idea of having a superhero is fascinating because one person possess inherently good qualities to carry the burden of others. A superhero is kind and fearless while continuously putting others before themselves. They usually possess amazing abilities or powers, allowing them to handle a situation in a way a normal person couldn't. They can be compared to Greek Gods, but because they also have flaws we are able to relate and connect with them. Superheroes have the capacity to single handily make the world a better place ...
