Animals who care and listen
“The dogs are so friendly and happy to see us,”
says resident Doris Kranich. “They even listen
when you talk to them!”
Certified Intermountain Therapy animals
Josie, Lucy, and Ella are now regularly visiting
Touchmark. Accompanied by their handlers
Diane Stilson, Beth Steele, and Brenda Byrom,
the animals brighten everyone’s day.
“Residents and team members have a wonderful
time meeting and petting these friendly dogs,”
says Nanette Whitman-Holmes, Life Enrichment/
Wellness director.
Intermountain Therapy Animals, which is based
out of Salt Lake City, has a Helena chapter that
recently certified five dogs and two cats. The goal
of the nonprofit is to “bring the gift of animal
companionship and interaction” to others.

Representatives from the Helena Brewers Baseball team visited Touchmark to talk about the minor league
team and the upcoming season. Clark the Cougar, who is one half of the Lewis and Clark mascots, also
visited. (Lewis the Lion was off visiting school kids!) Clark even stopped by the salon to get his hair done.
The Brewers are the rookie league team for the Milwaukee Brewers, who have other farm teams in
Wisconsin, Alabama, and Tennessee. The season starts in June at Kindrick Legion Field.
The visit generated excitement for summer fun, as resident Jeff Stokes, who is a big Brewers fan, shared,
“I am going to call for my season ticket tomorrow!”
