2. Ben Howard Music
Campaigns
Ben Howard’s use of dark colours on his
album cover and website connotes mystery
and sadness within his music. Throughout
these two pieces and the music video he
uses very simplistic colours to connote that
his music is very genuine and relaxing.
Also, it helps separate his music from his
appearance, as the dark colours dim out his
facial features to the audience. This shows
his individuality, and that he isn’t about the
fame, but cares more about writing his own
music.
As there is only
one person
shown in all
three elements,
you can tell that
he is a solo artist
and potentially
plays the guitar
whilst singing by
himself.
You can tell that Ben
Howard plays rock
music, from the use
of black, as this
connotes death and
fear. But, the use of
white connotes
innocence and purity.
Therefore, you can
tell by this that he
also plays folk music.

Conclusion
I think Ben Howards
music campaign for his
latest album was
successful, as he
managed to to effectively
get his message across
evenly throughout his
website, album cover and
music video.
4. Nirvana
The same font is used for the website
and on the album cover for the word
‘NIRVANA’. The use of capital letters
helps the name of the band to stand
out, and makes it appealing to the
audience. The use of light shades of
yellow are used for the album cover
and website also. The red helps
connote death and maybe also love.
So both combined could show us
there was a loss of a loved one.
However, the illustration
of an angel on the album
cover is not replicated
onto the website.
Instead they show the
band on the website,
which tells us they want
the audience to know
who they are for fame.
But, also want to get
their message across on
their album cover of
death, through the use
of the illustration.
5. Nirvana
conclusion
Overall, I think Nirvana’s music campaign
was successful throughout the website,
album cover and website. As I thought they
made it clear to the audience what type of
songs they were playing, which helped to
get their target audience.
