The student received feedback on their music video and album packaging from peer groups and online audiences. The peer feedback was positive and praised the video's editing, camerawork, and matching of lyrics to visuals. Online comments also responded positively and noted the clear narrative and inclusion of indie music conventions. Feedback on the album packaging complimented its vibrant yet sophisticated indie-style design but suggested making the song listings more prominent and adding more visual interest to the back cover. Overall, the feedback was constructive and helped identify ways to improve lighting, transitions, and other creative aspects in future works.
3. Peer Group Class Feedback
The group acquired audience feedback through
various different methods. Possibly the most
useful of which being the feedback our peer
groups gave us in class after viewing each others
videos. Having the opportuinity to give
constructive feedback anonymously allowed the
peer audience to perhaps be more honest and
critical. For the most part however the feedback
received was positive and complimentary of our
editing, camerawork and narrative. From these
feedback sheets we learn that the audience
appreciated the matching vocal miming with the
lyrics of the song. The use of an interesting
storyline made the video engaging to watch and
the footage of the band was especially effective
in relating the video to the indie rock genre and
its heritage.
4. Here are some more of the feedback sheets
received from the peer groups.
5. Online Feedback
Prior to receiving the peer group feedback, the
publishing of our music video online resulted in
an influx of comments from our target audience.
Their feedback was constructive and
complimentary and allowed us to view some of
the areas we could have improved.
The online feedback in regards to the music video
was positive towards various aspects of the
product. One commenter appreciated the strong
narrative as it was clear to understand making it
an entertaining watch. Another liked the included
conventions of the indie music genre as it made
the video relatable. Both respondents
commented on the camerawork, saying the shots
were “consistent” and enjoyable. The lack of
comments regarding the editing done to the
lighting, transitions and speed of the video
suggests that we could have been more creative
in regards to these aspects
6. The digipak was also uploaded to social media in order
to gather audience feedback. From these responses we
learn that the front cover of the album is “vibrant yet
sophisticated and still carries an indie theme
throughout”. This tells me that we as a group managed
to retain the connections to the indie genre whilst
potentially experimenting with more foreign colours on
the album artwork. The brick effect found on the inside
and rear of the digipak relates to the genre however the
song listings could be more prominent. This suggests
that if the digipak were to be revised, larger, bolder
fonts should be used to allow the text to be seen
clearer. A different colour of text could perhaps achieve
this. Another commenter liked how the digipak and the
music video related to one another due to their
synergistic properties. The cup of tea and the photo of
café allowed the viewer to instantly relate the digipak to
the video. Having each band member on each section of
the album was respected and whilst they enjoyed the
continuity of the brick wall, they felt the back cover
needed to be more noticeable. This implies that we
could have done something more eye-catching for the
rear of the digipak, such as feature some artwork on the
wall. Overall however, they liked the simplicity of the
design.
