main product and ancillary texts?
2. How the music video is different to
others in its genre
Unlike other Dubstep music video’s instead of having a
video of just a logo on the screen, our music video had a
narrative to it.
The cutting rhythm for our music video both conformed
with typical cutting rhythms and also challenged it as
during our video we had both a smooth and effective
cutting rhythm as well as a cutting rhythm which was out
of pace with the beat of the music.
The narrative to our video was different to that of the
original video as in ours we changed the gender roles
around so that it was the woman who was cheating on the
boyfriend and no the other way around.
3. How it appeals to our audience?
The storyline used in our music video is relevant to our
target audience as some of the audience members may
have gone through the same situation.
Some of the props are used on a regular basis by some
of the audience members, for example bottles of
alcohol.
Also the actors and characters are both of a similar age
to the target audience. This appeals to our audience as
it means that the audience can relate to the characters
and the storyline easier.
4. How I think the music video/ancillary
tasks were successful
The ancillary tasks were very successful as they were
very detailed and effective at capturing the audiences
attention.
The music video I felt was successful as it went as
smoothly as I could have allowed it. The video was
made with the best of the groups ability.
We adapted and evolved it several times before we felt
it was good enough to upload to the blog.
5. How it wasn’t successful and why?
Most of the footage was of poor quality down the
equipment we had been given.
Some of the team did not do their fair share during the
planning, designing, filming and editing time. This
was still not avoided when we delegated jobs
throughout the group.
6. Music Video
I am personally pleased with the music video as it was
the main piece I worked on, whereas Ossie worked on
the ancillary texts with Reanna.
The music video includes everything I wanted it to
include .
Everything the audience wanted to see in the music
video is in there.
7. Poster
The design of the poster is original.
It covers all aspects a promotional poster
should.
The poster if effective at promoting the
artist and the album.
8. Album Cover
It catches the audiences attention easily, making it
successful and effective.
Contains all the typical ingredients of a successful
album cover .
9. Does it meet the conventions
desired?
Both the main product and the ancillary texts meet
with quite a few conventions but at the same time they
break and challenge enough to make them original in
there own way.
