How Apple Has Successfully Achieved Global Competitive...
Introduction
Apple Computers, Inc. was founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in 1976 and started as a small computer manufacturing company in California,
USA (Richardson, 2015). Over the years, Apple have applied numerous global strategies in order to sustain competition with competitors in the same
market sector. This has seen them become more innovative, creating a range of smartphones, tablets, laptops and smart watches to meet worldwide
demand. Because of this, Apple is now regarded as one of the biggest multinational organisations in the world with a total revenue of 233 billion dollars
in 2015 (MarketWatch, 2015). Using relevant theories, frameworks and models, I will aim to explain how Apple have successfully achieved global
competitive advantage whilst incorporating the importance of their home country, partner country, supplier country and customer country from the Star
Analysis framework (Spulber, 2007).
Home Country
The first component I will be discussing using the Star Analysis framework is the home country of Apple and more specifically, where their
Headquarters are based. Apple's main HQ, sometimes known as the 'Apple Campus' is situated in Cupertino, Santa Clara County, California (Parrish,
2012). The home country of Apple is seen as a huge influence to Apple's success as it contributes to "the firm's competitive advantage" (Spulber, 2007).
This is proven using Michael Porter's diamond (Porter, 1990);
Michael E. Porter argues that a country can adapt

EJ Eaton Scholarship Analysis
"What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals." –Henry David Thoreau. This quote
demonstrates everything I wish to achieve while attending the University of Tennessee at Martin. Through this school and the amazing music program,
I plan to become an even better leader, teacher, student, andtrombone player. Having my work ethic, planning, and determination I have made it this
far and I do not plan to slow down any time soon. Due to my accomplishments in my past and the limitless opportunities that lie ahead of me and that
I strive for, I would feel honored to receive the EJ Eaton Scholarship. With this scholarship, a financial weight would be lifted off me and my family's
shoulders, and with the scholarship, I would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If I were to receive the EJ Eaton Scholarship, I would be able to do more in these organizations and ensembles. For the concert band, or wind ensemble,
and trombone choir, I plan to reach the highest point of my performing and practicing ability. For the UTMartin Wesley Foundation, I plan to
contribute my ideas and help the Wesley Foundation to grow into more than it already is, making a bigger impact on the local community and the
UT Martin campus. I plan to help the students who walk into the Wesley Foundation grow spiritually in faith and be welcomed into the community
that we are. For Sigma Alpha Iota, I plan to be a large part in the Executive Board and hopefully be in as many roles as I can be like treasurer, Vice
President of Membership, Editor, and possibly President if the need arises. Through what I have done and what I am planning on accomplishing
while I earn my education at UT Martin, I feel as though the EJ Eaton Scholarship would help give me the strive to work for these goals I have set

Never Give Up By Jimmy Valvano
Speeches come in all shapes and sizes, some are good, some are bad, some are motivational and some are inspirational. The one thing I can tell you
is that there are always a few that will linger and stick around in your head. These speeches go through history as being remembered and studied for
decades. A few that come to mind are "I have a dream" by Martin Luther King, "Never give up...Don't ever give up," by Jimmy Valvano. "Gettysburg
Address," by Abraham Lincoln and "You've got to find what youlove," by Steve Jobs. Each and every one of these speeches was written by men who
were challenged to make difficult decisions in their lives which would inadvertently affect their future in one way or another.
The most current speech of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life." (Jobs 21–22)
Why would one talk about death at a commencement speech especially to a bunch of young adults? The reason why he spoke about death was to
motivate everyone into not wasting time on things they don't enjoy. Everyone should follow their hearts, and make their own decisions. Steve told the
graduates "Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma–which is living with the results of other
people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart
and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary (Jobs 22). In other words, it is very
simple. Steve wants the audience to understand how important it is to make your own choices in life because it will pave a path to happiness, and
you won't have regrets because life is short. A commencement speech as powerful as Steve Jobs sticks in your head and ruminates for a long time.
His advice touches home and leaves you thinking about the decisions that you make in your life and whether those decisions will connect to your
future. As we make decisions in our lives, we should all remember to follow Steve's advice do what you love, don't give

'Think Different ': The Ad Campaign that Restored Apple 's Reputation I. INTRO
Good afternoon everybody and welcome to our presentation today. My name is..., I am a member of group 4, class A18, Foreign Trade University,
it's my honor to be here today. First, to begin, I'd like to introduce my group for a little bit. We are group 4, a team that is created by 5 extraodinary
members. Now, it's my pleasure to introduce Mr/Ms...blah blah...
Now back to our presentation, as you know, at present, Apple is one of the biggest information technology companies in the world. For more details,
Apple is the world 's second–largest information technology company by revenue after Samsung Electronics, and the world 's third–largest mobile

In early 1996, Apple 's bonds were downgraded to below investment grade, meaning they were tagged with the notorious "junk bond" label. Later in
1996, Apple issued and sold $575 million in junk bonds that were to mature in 2001 and pay 6% interest, just under the then–current U.S.
By all accounts, Apple was close to dissolution whether by takeover or bankruptcy.
I think with some figures and history of the Apple before the campaign, you are feeling bored. But when we move to the second topic: the introduction
of "think different" campaign, you will have another see and another feeling.
As you remember, we are concerned with the background information of apple, uhm, in 1997, when things were getting bleaker, Apple decided to
bring back the departed CEO, Steve Jobs. He himself gave the agency its mission: to reintroduce Apple to those who forgotten what it stands for and
introduce Apple to everyone else. Have you ever think that Apple is different from other companies? From the marketing to the design and sold on the
market, every step Apple always makes the difference. Maybe, it has begun from this campaign. Steve knew that he had to focus on what makes Apple
unique–creativity, design and simplicity, and find out how to express this in a natural, honest and intelligent way. There were meetings between the
CEOs, exploring, discussing, analyzing... And a

The Success Of Michael Jordan
When most people think of success they think about big houses, expensive cars, or an abundance of money. This false definition of success has been
deeply embedded into society's mindset due in large part to social media. People tend to link success with CEOs, professional athletes, doctors,
lawyers, and other people with such titles. Although people with theses professions can be successful, being passionate, having patience, and
overcoming adversity measure true success. Michael Jordan is one of the most successful athletes in professional sports history. People perceive his
success by idealizing his athletic abilities and all of his accomplishments on the basketball court. What they fail to realize are all of his qualities that
enabled him to leave the legacy we are all familiar with. In high school Michael was described as a goofy kid. At the time, he was not blessed with the
genetics that most NBA players had. No one in his family was over six foot tall. His mother was a bank teller, and his father a mechanic (LaFeber).
His greatest obstacle, however, came during his sophomore year of high school when he was cut from the Laney High School basketball team. So
how does one who was faced with such adversity become successful? It all starts with passion. Michael was not in it for the money. He just loved
playing the game of basketball. He did not think he was the best player at his school. Nor did he think he was going to play in the NBA. He did not
care what anyone else

Operations
So the current issue of Businessweek has an article on Apple that I am basically (given my profession) obliged to love (Apple's Supply–Chain Secret?
Hoard Laser, Nov 3). It opens by recounting how Apple invested heavily in a special kind of laser in order to implement a design element (a little
green light on a laptop so that users would know that the camera is on) and builds to this:
Most of Apple's customers have probably never given that green light a second thought, but its creation speaks to a massive competitive advantage for
Apple: Operations. This is the world of manufacturing, procurement, and logistics in which the new chief executive officer, Tim Cook, excelled, earning
him the trust of Steve Jobs. According to more than a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, when iPod sales took off in 2001, Apple realized it could pack so many of the diminutive music players on planes that it became
economical to ship them directly from Chinese factories to consumers' doors. When an HP staffer bought one and received it a few days later,
tracking its progress around the world through Apple's website, "It was an 'Oh s–' moment," recalls Fawkes.
In thinking about ops at Apple, it becomes clear that Apple is very much like past poster children of operational excellence like Wal
–Mart, Toyota, and
Southwest. It is not that Apple's operational skills are great in an absolute sense. Rather it is that their operations are so intertwined with everything
else that they are doing, they are essential to carrying out their strategy in the marketplace.
For example, Apple has a limit product line. They don't settle for producing a few hip halo products that attract attention but were never intended to sell
in high quantity. Virtually everything Apple does aims to be both hip and high volume. That means when they work with suppliers they are in a
position to demand that things go their way.
Further, they aim to give the customer things she doesn't know she needs yet. That means they are making big bets on production technologies or
components before the competition knows they need that skill or that component. All of that would be horribly risky if they were not so good at

Why Apple?
As you might already know, Apple, the huge computer company, has recently been on many peoples minds. Whether it's because of its famous
Macbooks and iMac's, or the new iPhone 4, the iPad, or its renowned iPod, all of whom make up part of the revolutionary repertoire of Apple
products. Farhad Manjoo celebrates the fact that "Apple cultivates religious fervor among its adherents in a number of subtle ways, including its
mysteriousness and its suggestion that customers are among the chosen ones"(43). Farhad is insisting that Apple has, not only made loyal customers,
but more of a cult of sorts, in which fans of the companies products acclaim their work in many different ways, some so extreme as to getting the

So when critics argue that Apple is very controlling over their products and who can develop software's for them or sell them, you can be sure that,
that is exactly how CEO Steve Jobs wants it to be.
It's very clear how this technological mogul has got to where it is, by not compromising or losing focus on what their mission as a company is.
Nicholas Bonsack reports, "In a recent Consumer Reports survey focusing on four aspects of customer service for computers – problem solved, phone
wait time, and the quality of phone and online support staffs – Consumer Reports subscribers gave Apple the highest marks among the top computer
vendors for both laptop and desktop tech support. Apple was the only company to earn top scores in all four categories"(2). Aside from Apple striving
to be the most innovative computer and electronic device manufacturer, they also out do themselves when it comes to customer service, which we all
wish was true for most of the companies out there.
You can say that Apple has found a secret recipe for success, combining innovation, quality, style and an outstanding after sale service. Now it's not so
hard to figure out what all the hype is about. They are profoundly dedicated to solving our problems as consumers, while giving us beautifully simple

The Strength Of Apple. “Apple Had Always Been †Different’
The Strength of Apple "Apple had always been 'different' – and what drove it never changed" (Segall 88) Apple is arguably the most influential and
disruptive technology company on the global scale. Founded on April 1st 1976 in Cupertino California as Apple Computer Inc., Apple has had its
fair share of challenges and failures over the past 41 years but has become a behemoth of a technology company over the last ten years or so,
amassing gross amounts of success (Rawlinson). The question is how; how did a small company started in a garage become so prosperous and how
have they made the competition, namely Microsoft and Samsung, almost irrelevant. The answer is multi–faceted. Obviously, timing plays a huge role
in circumstances such as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Apple I was a groundbreaking product for its time because all it required was a keyboard and a monitor, other companies needed extra circuitry
to display text making the Apple I more enticing. While there were 200 Apple I computers produced, a significant amount for the time, Apple's
success really began with the Apple II (Rawlinson). The Apple II was a true innovation for its time and completely revolutionized the computer
market. However, it was not the Apple II itself that was amazing even though it had color graphics and a very high resolution for its time; it was what
you could do with the computer that garnered so much interest, especially from businesses (Rawlinson). Dan Bricklin, a Harvard Business School
student saw that he could create and run a program on the Apple II that could do a few different types of calculations – we know this today as a
spreadsheet. The program or app, named VisiCalc, solidified Apple's place in the computer and technology industry (Rawlinson). After the Apple II
came the Macintosh and then came the iMac. The iMac was a design of beauty "on the shelves next to the beige computers that dominated the market
back then, the teal iMac, with its cutecircular mouse and translucent body, stood out" (The Apple Revolution). Apple did what none of the other
companies were doing at the time, they found ways to

Writing Is Easy By Steve Martin Summary
The essay "Writing is Easy", by Steve Martin, is a hysterical essay that is comical in a way that I don't think the author intended. I think the essay is
funny mainly because there is a part that is ironic for me that I can relate to. Although there is other parts in the essay that could be humorous as well,
I couldn't get over one certain section of it. The funniest segment of the story is, "Go to an already published novel and find a sentence that you
absolutely adore. Copy it down in your manuscript. Usually, that sentence will lead you to another sentence, and pretty soon your own ideas will start
to flow. If they don't, copy down the next sentence in the novel. You can safely use up to three sentences of someone else's work– unless you're

The author of "The Birth of Spider–Man", Max Bruno, and the author of "Stan Lee and Spider–Man", Simmi Patel, both present their information
about Spider Man differently and similarly through their purposes, points of views, and facts chosen.
First, the two authors both convey their purposes similarly. Both authors write information about Spider Man's creation. The author Simmi Patel writes
about how Stan Lee was able to get his idea about Spider Man across successfully after many failures. The author Max Bruno also writes about Spider

Patel does not write about how Spider Man is in the future, or about any other authors in the comic book industry.
Both authors have different points of view. Simmi Patel is only generalizing Spider man's creation. Patel does not write further on how Spider Man

Steve Wozniak
Mr. Wozniak had an odd childhood growing up as the son of an engineer at Lockheed Martin. Being around mechanics and engineers all the time it's
no wonder he's amazing at creating complex inventions. Steve Wozniak was born San Jose CA, on August 11, 1950. Son of Margaret Elaine and
Jacob Francis Wozniak, Steve adored engineering from a very young age. He also has a mixed ancestry of Polish, German, Irish, and English
background. All though he never was a 'star student' Steve had a knack for mechanics. Once he grew up, Mr. Wozniak went away to study at the
University of California. That is where he later met Steve Jobs. They became future business partners for Apple. This caused Mr. Wozniak to quit his

The First Cell Phone Call
The first cell phone call was made on April 19, 1973 by Motorola employee Martin Cooper, since then cell phone have been getting more innovative

phones that are circulating around the world are Samsung & Apple, these two companies history with each other don't date back that far, but they

The Danger Of A Single Story By Chimamanda Adicie Essay
Single Stories are Problematic
In the world we live in now it has become easy to stereotype and create a single story about certain people and situations, whether it's intentional or
not. In 2009, a Nigerian novelist named Chimamanda Adichie gave an amazing TED talk called "The Danger of the Single Story". A single story
more or less means an incomplete or inaccurate viewpoint of a person or culture based on a story created from a single experience. When one hears
the same story over and over again, we start believing only that story. Adichie claims that creating single stories is problematic and rely on power, a
single story I decided to present is how people believe police officers are abusing their power, and I believe the media is at fault. For one to truly
understand a story we must listen to the root of the story. Her speech made me realize and view things differently. In the "The Danger of a Single
Story", Chimamanda Adicie tells her own personal experiences of a single story and how that can become challenging. She talks about when she
started reading and writing at a young age. She read British and American children 's books. When she started writing all her characters were white
and blue eyed just like in the books. It wasn 't until writers Chinua Achebe and Camara Laye that she realized people like her, people of color, could
exist in literature. Adichie 's says "what the discovery of African writers did for me was this: It saved me from having a single story

Martin Luther King Jr., Adolf Hitler, And Steve Jobs
A word is simply a element of speech and writing. People use words in many different ways, for instance; conversation, announcements,
reassurance, disruption, and inspiration. The power that a word has is up to the person who says it. Some of the most powerful people in the world
are also some of the best speakers. Barack Obama, Martin Luther King Jr., Gandhi, Adolf Hitler, and Steve Jobs are very different people who have
one thing in common, they know how to use their words to make a change. In a time of need, a good speech is what could be a turning point for a
movement.
The 1960's were a hard time in American history. Segregation was an extreme problem wherewhite people were treated completely different from
colored people. Everything was segregated from schools, to restrooms, to drinking fountains. The uprise of colored people who just wanted equality
was populating, but they had no inspiration for change. Martin Luther King Jr. knew this, and he took it upon himself to start a movement. He began
Marches, Gatherings, Sit–ins, and Speeches. These events got people together and King began to start to make a real change. When King was

Should College Athletes be Paid?
Over the past century college athletics have grown more popular than most professional sports. Most of its popularity is due to a large student body in
addition to its Alumni, but nonetheless it has surpassed professional sports from its monetary success to its fan support. College athletics are also a
very important commodity to Universities around the nation. Next to student's tuition, that's where the majority of the money comes from. No one is
more responsible for bringing in that money more than the coach and his/her players. In this notion, one would think that such important people should

Martinez supports his argument by supplying information from; important figures the sports world may know (Steve Spurrier), and rules that continue
to fuel his argument that college athletes should be paid. For example, Martinez uses the "amateurism" argument from the NCAA to help explain why
college officials would not allow college athletes to be paid, and to further support his argument as to why they should be paid.
Martinez also uses opponent's views to help support his. "Opponents of the play for play idea say that college–athletes should not be paid because
through scholarships, they are already being paid" (Martinez). Using arguments such as this one helps Martinez expand his argument so that when he
is through there are no aspects of his argument left unanswered.
To validate his argument, Martinez uses actual people and guidelines in his article. He uses Steve Spurrier as an example; "Head coach of the
University of Florida, signed a six year contract that will pay him nearly $2 million per year" (Martinez). Using this information shows that a coach,
who is not more important than a player, is making a ton of money. As opposed to a player, who makes no money at all and is of more importance.
After all, without the players there could be no coaches.
It is a well known fact that college coaches make more than enough money. Just recently,

A review of various definitions finds that a vision differs from other forms of direction setting in several ways: A vision has clear and compelling
imagery that offers an innovative way to improve, which recognizes and draws on traditions, and connects to actions that people can take to realize
change. Vision taps people’s emotions and energy. Properly articulated, a vision creates the enthusiasm that people have for sporting events
and other leisure–time activities, bringing this energy and commitment to the workplace.
The key properties of a vision seem to be inspirational possibilities that are value–centered, realizable, with superior imagery and articulation. Visions
should be able to create possibility that are inspirational, unique, and offer a new a order that can produce organizational distinction.
A vision is likely to fail if it doesn’t offer a view of the future that is clearly and demonstrably better for the organization and its members.
Desirable visions fit the times and circumstances and reflect the uniqueness of the organization. People in the organization must also believe that the
vision is attainable. It should be perceived as challenging yet doable. Also, visions that have clear articulation and powerful imagery are more easily
grasped and accepted.

Frederick Douglass Essay
The definition of reform is to make changes in something; socially, politically, or economically, to improve it. One of the world's most prominent
writers, Thomas Carlyle, said, "Reform is not pleasant, but grievous; no person can reform themselves without suffering and hard work, how much
less a nation." According to Carlyle, the action of reforming is not easy to do for yourself, let alone for a whole nation of people. While many
revolutions have tried, only a few have successfully reformed the people around them. Such innovators include Frederick Douglas, Charles Darwin and

Darwin began to form his ideas when he served as official naturalist on a world voyage on HMS Beagle from 1831 to 1836 and spent the rest of his
life back in England developing them (Singh 2). When his famous book The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selections was published in
1859, he received a lot of violent reactions. In his book, Darwin challenged the Bible's account of creation and explained that human beings are
descended from an ape–like ancestor (Singh). However, Charles Darwin received backlash from many critics. After Darwin's book was published, he
obtained many letters criticizing his idea of evolution due to people's religious beliefs. Darwin wasn't only criticized by the church, but also by
scientists. He also received letters from scientists such as Adam Sedgwick and St. George Mivart, rejecting Darwin's natural selection hypothesis.
Although he received a lot of backlash for his beliefs, he stayed true to his claims. Other world renowned naturalists such as Alfred Russell Wallace
developed similar ideas as Darwin, expanding on evolution. To this day, evolution is still taught in many classes and is a theory that most scientists
refer to.
One of the most recently renowned innovators was Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs was born on February 24, 1955, to a pair of graduate students who gave
him up for adoption because their parents did not want them to marry. Steve's mother taught him how to read

Notes On The Creator Of Apple Steve Jobs

Commercial Assignment
Would you define yourself as crazy? Do you feel like you just don't fit in? A troublemaker per say? Do you see things in a different perspective? Do
you believe that you can change the world? The creator of AppleSteve Jobs, believes just that type of unusual individual can change the world
because they are crazy to be able to change it. Unique individuals play a significant role in creating history, due to the fact that they go against the
grain, strive to make a difference by their own creativity. Take for instance the individuals that were shown in the commercial; Albert Einstein, Bob
Dylan, Martin Luther King Jr., John Lennon, Thomas Edison, Muhammad Ali, Jim Henson, Amelia Earhart. Those individuals made history one way
or another, they were geniuses. As the video stated "those that are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones that do." Which is
absolutely true, take for example Thomas Edison, he developed many devices to include the phonograph, motion picture camera and of course the
light bulb. Nonetheless, as a child he had obstacles to overcome, but that did not interfere with him seeing things differently and wanting to make an
impact on the world. People that make a difference in the world, do not wake up one day and change the world. They have to work hard, hours of
dedication, only for hope to make difference. Take for instance the believability

Nike Marketing Strategy
Nike 's marketing strategy is an important component of the company 's success. Nike is positioned as a premium–brand, selling well–designed and
expensive products. Nike lures customers with a marketing strategy centering around a brand image which is attained by distinctive logo and the
advertising slogan: "Just do it".[40] Nike promotes its products by sponsorship agreements with celebrity athletes, professional teams and college
athletic teams. However, Nike 's marketing mix contains many elements besides promotion. These are summarised below.

Main article: Nike sponsorships
Nike pays top athletes in many different sports to use their products and promote/advertise their technology and design.
Nike 's first professional athlete endorser was Romanian tennis player Ilie NДѓstase, and the company 's first track endorser was distance running
legend Steve Prefontaine. Prefontaine was the prized pupil of the company 's co–founder Bill Bowerman while he coached at the University of Oregon.
Today, the Steve Prefontaine Building is named in his honor at Nike 's corporate headquarters.
Besides Prefontaine, Nike has sponsored many other successful track & field athletes over the years such as Carl Lewis, Jackie Joyner–Kersee
and Sebastian Coe. However, it was the signing of basketball player Michael Jordan in 1984, with his subsequent promotion of Nike over the course of
his storied career with Spike Lee as Mars Blackmon, that proved to be one of the biggest boosts to Nike 's publicity and sales.
During the past 20 years especially, Nike has been one of the major clothing/footwear sponsors for leading tennis players. Some of the more successful
tennis players currently or formerly sponsored by Nike include: James Blake, Jim Courier, Roger Federer, Lleyton Hewitt, Juan MartГn del Potro,

"With the first pick of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft, the Colorado Rockies select catcher Steve Martin from Costal High School in Los
Angeles, California." These were the words that changed Steve's life forever. As a four–year varsity–starting catcher for his high school, Steve was
destined for greatness as soon as he stepped onto the field. His coach John Martin described the 6'2" 210 pound player as "the greatest athlete he's
ever had the pleasure to coach," and that Steve was a "unique physical specimen." Whenever he set foot on the diamond Steve was always at least two

He was told he'd be moving up to the Rockies after playing in the final game of the season. "It was the best news I've ever heard aside from the day
I got drafted," said Martin, "but it came on the worst day of my life." After playing three solid innings at catcher, a ball was hit up in the air and
Steve sprinted towards the stands to try and make the catch, he failed to notice a practice bat on the ground near the stands. Expertly focused on
the ball, instead of looking down to checked his surroundings, Steve kept running and ended up tripping on the bat, collapsing in a heap next to his
team's bench. The trainer rushed out and ultimately Steve had to be carried off the field in a stretcher. "The whole time I was thinking to myself,
please don't be my ACL," Steve recalled. After a visit with the team doctor and a specialist in New York City, it was concluded that his ACL was
torn, as well as his MCL, and meniscus. Extensive surgery would be required and Steve would be out of commission for at least a year. Manager for

Steve Jobs : The Man Who Thought
Known as the man who thought "different," Steve Jobs was a very passionate entrepreneur, innovator, and leader who did not give up on his dreams.
He was very dedicated to his work, and a self–made billionaire, but his story doesn't start there. In 1994, a young college woman by the name of
Joanne Schieble became pregnant. The father of her child was Syrian, so Joanne's father did not agree with them being married. During this time
it was also frowned upon to be a single mother, so Joanne proceeded to move from Wisconsin to San Francisco. She had met a couple of lawyers
who had agreed to adopt the child, but after the baby was born on February 24, 1955, they decided not to. Soon after, a young couple just out of
high school had been wanting a baby, so when they heard that there was a new born available they rushed over adopt him. Everything seemed to be
going smoothly until Joanne discovered that they had not gone to college. She wanted to give her child the best opportunity possible; she wanted
college graduates to raise him. After months of thinking, she finally agreed that they were the best fit for him, they also promised that since they had
not gone to college that they would make sure he did. They named him Steven Paul Jobs. Jobs was raised in Silicon Valley and liked to spend most
of his time alone or in his garage with his father. They would take electronics apart and put them back together. When he was eleven years old he
decided that he had had enough of the

Steve Jobs' Stanford Commencement Address:
Inspiring the Next Generation of Students/Innovators
On June 12, 2005, Steve Jobs delivered a profound and influential speech addressing the commencement of Stanford's graduating students. Steve Jobs
was most known for being the co–founder and CEO of Apple Inc., but was also less known for being founder of neXt and CEO of Pixar Animation
throughout certain periods of his life. One of the reasons for observing this speech is primarily because Jobs is arguably considered one of the most

As for the social and/or economic status, since Stanford University is considered one of the most "prestigious" schools in America, it is a safe
assumption that the statuses of these students were homogenous to one another and above the status of the "average" American student. Besides for
those people who were present and personally witnessed this address from Steve Jobs, the speech was also recorded and uploaded to Stanford's website
and their YouTube page. Originally stemming from both of these two sources, this recorded video of the speech eventually found its way all over the
crevasses of the internet. Just these two videos, from the two original sources alone, has cumulatively received an additional 26 million views. These
additional views consisted of a larger, more general audience, having a greater range of diversification in the age, race, gender, religion, nationality, and
social/economic statuses compared to those of the immediate audience.
The general purpose was to address the commencement of Stanford's graduating students for their educational achievement. More specifically, Steve
Jobs wanted to inspire and influence this audience of graduating students in hopes that they will apply this advice for their future of successes that are
accompanied by the inevitable failures and hardships. While Jobs referred to his own personal narratives of success and failure throughout, he was

Writing Is Easy Steve Martin Summary
I consider the essay, "Writing Is Easy!" by Steve Martin exceptionally funny because he makes several different jokes that are entertaining and
humorous. One joke that he makes is that he enjoys typing nonsense as much as he enjoys actually writing: "I could be typing "kjfiu joewmv jiw"
and would enjoy is just as much as typing words that actually make sense," (5). I find this funny because it is true that some people just enjoy the
feeling of their fingers on a keyboard. Another joke he makes is that when he is frustrated with writing he can just go get coffee, relax, and figure it out
later. He claims "painters don't have that luxury. If they go to a coffee shop, their paint dries into a hard mass," (5). A different joke that Martin makes

Apple And Its Innovation And Business Practices
History Apple, Inc. has positioned itself as the world's most profitable technology company in the world through its innovation and business
practices. Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne founded Apple Inc. in 1976, to develop and sell personal computers. The vision was to
change the way the world viewed computers by making them small enough for people to have in their homes or offices. It is widely reported that
Jobs and Wozniak started by building the Apple I in Jobs' garage. The Apple I was sold without a monitor, keyboard, or casing. The company was
incorporated as Apple Computer, Inc. in 1977, later renamed as simply Apple Inc. in 2007. The Apple II, an 8
–bit home computer introduced later in
1977, was one of the first highly successful mass–produced microcomputer products. The Apple II revolutionized the computer industry with the
introduction of the first–ever color graphics. As a result, sales soared from $7.8 million in 1978 to $117 million in 1980. On December 12, 1980,
Apple launched its initial public offering of its stock, selling 4.6 million shares at $22 per share with the stock symbol "AAPL" on the NASDAQ
market. An article in the EDN recalls that the shares sold out almost immediately and the IPO generated more capital than any IPO since Ford Motor
Company in 1956. By the end of the day, the stock had increased in value by almost 32 percent to close at $29, leaving the company with a market
value of $1.778 billion. Due to conflicts with board

Steve Jobs And Fred Shuttlesworth
How These Two Men,That Died on the Same Day, Affected Your Life
I took a look back in history, I came across a couple of men that died on the same day. Both of these men have had a great impact on us all. They are
responsible for changes that have happened in times of segregation, to a more current time surrounded by IPhones. Steve Jobs and Fred Shuttlesworth
are responsible for these changes that have created the world as we know it today. Although, both men were phenomenal at what they did, one will
always be better. Fred Shuttlesworth fought for life changing outcomes. He was a blunt, driven, and confrontational man, and maybe the reason you
are allowed to be where you are today. Steve Jobs and Fred Shuttlesworth were both hard working individuals, that made their dreams come to life.
Although, they may be similar in a lot of ways, their impact on the world was very different.
Steve Jobs was born on February 24, 1955, in San Francisco, California. Steve Jobs showed an early interest in electronics and was mentored by a
neighbor, who was an electronic hobbyist. In only the eighth grade, Steve was assembling a frequency counter and noticed that he was missing a
crucial part. He then gave William Hewlett, co–founder of Hewlett–Packard, a call to let him know about this missing part. Mr. Hewlett sent Jobs the
missing parts and then offered Steve Jobs a summer intern job. Jobs met his future partner, Mr. Wozniak, while attending Homestead High School. He

Analysis Of Writing: When Writing Is Easy By Steve Martin

nowhere. He says "got to an already published novel and find a sentence that you absolutely adore. Copy it down into your manuscript" (Martin). What
he is saying is plagiarism. If I was to use this method to overcome writer block I would be thrown out of college. I still believe that writer block is real
because even the greatest authors struggle with writers block. Mr. Matins thinks that writing depends on the writer's location. He believes that

A Review of Run–Time Array Bound Checking Techniques Shaan Shetty School of Electrical and Computer Engineering Cornell University, Ithaca

superior performance. Due to this reason, most legacy software is in C. But in recent times, several breaches in security and reliability have been
found to occur due to lack of memory safety of the C programming language. Memory–corruption bugs in programs can breach security, and faults in

Austin, Scott E. Breach, and Gurindar S. Sohi [1]. The idea here is to augment the pointer representation in memory with the bounds of the
pointer's target. Spatial safety is enforced by checking these bounds whenever a pointer is dereferenced. These fat pointers consist of the
following parameters, value: The value of the safe pointer; it may contain any expressible address., base and size: The base address of the referent
and its size in bytes, storageClass: The storage class of the allocation, either Heap, Local, or Global., capability: When dynamic variables are
created, either through explicit storage allocation (e.g., calls to malloc()) or through procedure invocations (i.e., a procedure call creates the local
variables in the stack frame of the procedure), a unique capability is issued to that storage allocation. The value attribute is the only safe pointer

Lets talk about the episode called "Bones and Muscles". You use every muscle and bone in your body because they all work together, whether

you that is just a bunch of bones! We all have about 200 bones in our body and most of them are controlled with two sets of muscles. Bones form
the framework of our bodies, ligaments help hold the bones together, muscles move the bones, and tendons anchor the muscles to the bones. Every
bone and muscle is connected in your body! Lets think about sharks. Sharks don't have bones, only cartilage. We have cartilage too but only in our
ribs, ears, and nose. That's what makes them flexible and easy to move around. Without bones we wouldn't be able to hold ourselves up, like a
pancake, we'd just collapse, but if we were too stiff and rigid like a gingerbread cookie, we wouldn't be able to move at all. We need muscles and soft

Americans. For example, Bill Gates, a founder of Microsoft, started to sell personal computers, which have been indispensable for modern people.

According to an article in USA TODAY, Americans emphasize themselves more than groups they belong to. The study by psychologist Jean Twenge
shows that Americans have been more individualists since 1960. She analyzed the number of individualistic expressions like "unique" or "I am
special", used in more than 750,000 books written by Americans in the past five decades, and compared it with that of communal words like
"teamwork" or "community goals." She concluded that this analysis reflects the change of Americans trend toward individualism. There is a different
view about the analysis. Dennis Baron, a linguistics professor of the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign disagree with her conclusion. He
stated that her choice of expressions are subjective, so it is hard to say that individualism is the mainstream of America. Moreover, he counterargues,
"People refer to themselves in the singular more than they do the plural, it does not necessarily mean we are all individualists or egoists. It just means
we have more occasions to refer to one form than the other." The difference between them stems from the difference between their views about
individualism. Dennis regards individualism as a symbol of egoism or selfishness. On the other hand, Jean does it as an "emphasis on uniqueness and
greatness." From her perspective, the frequent use of individualistic expressions proves that Americans become

Comparing Cyrano de Bergerac and the Movie, Roxanne
Isn't it easier to accept the idea that a main character would be engaged in a fist fight, rather than a sword fight? Aren't fire fighters, as characters,
more believable than a bunch of olden day French cadets? I certainly think so. To me it is just more real to have the setting of a story inmodern times
and in the United States. Rostand's Cyrano De Bergerac is written about a time that no one alive now has experienced. There is the same plot idea that
an ugly man wants the pretty girl, but she is too busy being infatuated with the pretty boy to notice the intellect of the man she truly comes to love.

The cadets are steadfast men who are ready to fight, but the firemen are a bunch of goofy adults that really have no clue to what they are doing.
Roxanne?s astronomer hobby and job gives her the air of being intelligent and intellectual just like Rostand?s Roxanne has. Le Bret and Raganeau
morphed into the more modern character, Dixie. She takes on the role of being Charlie Bales? confident and most trusted friend. In this story, Dixie
plays a key role to the plot by giving Roxanne the letter Charlie wrote. She slyly put Charlie?s name on the back so that Roxanne would finally figure
out it was Charlie, not Chris, who is an intellectual mastermind. Giving the characters and setting a modern angle helps the present society relate to the
masterpiece by Rostand.
Is the tragedy lost, or is it just more believable? One of the most profound changes is the difference in what happens after Chris, or Christian, joyfully
rushes to Roxanne?s room after the balcony scene. In the original, Cyrano keeps his word to help Christian and distracts De Guiche from interrupting
what is going on in the house. In the modern version, though, Charlie sends the old ladies to walk in on Roxanne and Chris. Most people would
probably have done the same thing. A person who is in love with another person won?t just sit back and watch while someone else steals the love away.
They would seize the opportunity to stop anything going on between them. The second change is the fact that

How Apple Has Successfully Achieved Global Competitive...

  • 1. How Apple Has Successfully Achieved Global Competitive... Introduction Apple Computers, Inc. was founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in 1976 and started as a small computer manufacturing company in California, USA (Richardson, 2015). Over the years, Apple have applied numerous global strategies in order to sustain competition with competitors in the same market sector. This has seen them become more innovative, creating a range of smartphones, tablets, laptops and smart watches to meet worldwide demand. Because of this, Apple is now regarded as one of the biggest multinational organisations in the world with a total revenue of 233 billion dollars in 2015 (MarketWatch, 2015). Using relevant theories, frameworks and models, I will aim to explain how Apple have successfully achieved global competitive advantage whilst incorporating the importance of their home country, partner country, supplier country and customer country from the Star Analysis framework (Spulber, 2007). Home Country The first component I will be discussing using the Star Analysis framework is the home country of Apple and more specifically, where their Headquarters are based. Apple's main HQ, sometimes known as the 'Apple Campus' is situated in Cupertino, Santa Clara County, California (Parrish, 2012). The home country of Apple is seen as a huge influence to Apple's success as it contributes to "the firm's competitive advantage" (Spulber, 2007). This is proven using Michael Porter's diamond (Porter, 1990); Michael E. Porter argues that a country can adapt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. EJ Eaton Scholarship Analysis "What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals." –Henry David Thoreau. This quote demonstrates everything I wish to achieve while attending the University of Tennessee at Martin. Through this school and the amazing music program, I plan to become an even better leader, teacher, student, andtrombone player. Having my work ethic, planning, and determination I have made it this far and I do not plan to slow down any time soon. Due to my accomplishments in my past and the limitless opportunities that lie ahead of me and that I strive for, I would feel honored to receive the EJ Eaton Scholarship. With this scholarship, a financial weight would be lifted off me and my family's shoulders, and with the scholarship, I would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If I were to receive the EJ Eaton Scholarship, I would be able to do more in these organizations and ensembles. For the concert band, or wind ensemble, and trombone choir, I plan to reach the highest point of my performing and practicing ability. For the UTMartin Wesley Foundation, I plan to contribute my ideas and help the Wesley Foundation to grow into more than it already is, making a bigger impact on the local community and the UT Martin campus. I plan to help the students who walk into the Wesley Foundation grow spiritually in faith and be welcomed into the community that we are. For Sigma Alpha Iota, I plan to be a large part in the Executive Board and hopefully be in as many roles as I can be like treasurer, Vice President of Membership, Editor, and possibly President if the need arises. Through what I have done and what I am planning on accomplishing while I earn my education at UT Martin, I feel as though the EJ Eaton Scholarship would help give me the strive to work for these goals I have set for myself and would be honored to receive such a ... • 3. Never Give Up By Jimmy Valvano Speeches come in all shapes and sizes, some are good, some are bad, some are motivational and some are inspirational. The one thing I can tell you is that there are always a few that will linger and stick around in your head. These speeches go through history as being remembered and studied for decades. A few that come to mind are "I have a dream" by Martin Luther King, "Never give up...Don't ever give up," by Jimmy Valvano. "Gettysburg Address," by Abraham Lincoln and "You've got to find what youlove," by Steve Jobs. Each and every one of these speeches was written by men who were challenged to make difficult decisions in their lives which would inadvertently affect their future in one way or another. The most current speech of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life." (Jobs 21–22) Why would one talk about death at a commencement speech especially to a bunch of young adults? The reason why he spoke about death was to motivate everyone into not wasting time on things they don't enjoy. Everyone should follow their hearts, and make their own decisions. Steve told the graduates "Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma–which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary (Jobs 22). In other words, it is very simple. Steve wants the audience to understand how important it is to make your own choices in life because it will pave a path to happiness, and you won't have regrets because life is short. A commencement speech as powerful as Steve Jobs sticks in your head and ruminates for a long time. His advice touches home and leaves you thinking about the decisions that you make in your life and whether those decisions will connect to your future. As we make decisions in our lives, we should all remember to follow Steve's advice do what you love, don't give ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. 'Think Different': the Ad Campaign That Restored Apple's... 'Think Different ': The Ad Campaign that Restored Apple 's Reputation I. INTRO Good afternoon everybody and welcome to our presentation today. My name is..., I am a member of group 4, class A18, Foreign Trade University, it's my honor to be here today. First, to begin, I'd like to introduce my group for a little bit. We are group 4, a team that is created by 5 extraodinary members. Now, it's my pleasure to introduce Mr/Ms...blah blah... Now back to our presentation, as you know, at present, Apple is one of the biggest information technology companies in the world. For more details, Apple is the world 's second–largest information technology company by revenue after Samsung Electronics, and the world 's third–largest mobile phone maker ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In early 1996, Apple 's bonds were downgraded to below investment grade, meaning they were tagged with the notorious "junk bond" label. Later in 1996, Apple issued and sold $575 million in junk bonds that were to mature in 2001 and pay 6% interest, just under the then–current U.S. By all accounts, Apple was close to dissolution whether by takeover or bankruptcy. I think with some figures and history of the Apple before the campaign, you are feeling bored. But when we move to the second topic: the introduction of "think different" campaign, you will have another see and another feeling. As you remember, we are concerned with the background information of apple, uhm, in 1997, when things were getting bleaker, Apple decided to bring back the departed CEO, Steve Jobs. He himself gave the agency its mission: to reintroduce Apple to those who forgotten what it stands for and introduce Apple to everyone else. Have you ever think that Apple is different from other companies? From the marketing to the design and sold on the market, every step Apple always makes the difference. Maybe, it has begun from this campaign. Steve knew that he had to focus on what makes Apple unique–creativity, design and simplicity, and find out how to express this in a natural, honest and intelligent way. There were meetings between the CEOs, exploring, discussing, analyzing... And a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Success Of Michael Jordan When most people think of success they think about big houses, expensive cars, or an abundance of money. This false definition of success has been deeply embedded into society's mindset due in large part to social media. People tend to link success with CEOs, professional athletes, doctors, lawyers, and other people with such titles. Although people with theses professions can be successful, being passionate, having patience, and overcoming adversity measure true success. Michael Jordan is one of the most successful athletes in professional sports history. People perceive his success by idealizing his athletic abilities and all of his accomplishments on the basketball court. What they fail to realize are all of his qualities that enabled him to leave the legacy we are all familiar with. In high school Michael was described as a goofy kid. At the time, he was not blessed with the genetics that most NBA players had. No one in his family was over six foot tall. His mother was a bank teller, and his father a mechanic (LaFeber). His greatest obstacle, however, came during his sophomore year of high school when he was cut from the Laney High School basketball team. So how does one who was faced with such adversity become successful? It all starts with passion. Michael was not in it for the money. He just loved playing the game of basketball. He did not think he was the best player at his school. Nor did he think he was going to play in the NBA. He did not care what anyone else ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Operations So the current issue of Businessweek has an article on Apple that I am basically (given my profession) obliged to love (Apple's Supply–Chain Secret? Hoard Laser, Nov 3). It opens by recounting how Apple invested heavily in a special kind of laser in order to implement a design element (a little green light on a laptop so that users would know that the camera is on) and builds to this: Most of Apple's customers have probably never given that green light a second thought, but its creation speaks to a massive competitive advantage for Apple: Operations. This is the world of manufacturing, procurement, and logistics in which the new chief executive officer, Tim Cook, excelled, earning him the trust of Steve Jobs. According to more than a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similarly, when iPod sales took off in 2001, Apple realized it could pack so many of the diminutive music players on planes that it became economical to ship them directly from Chinese factories to consumers' doors. When an HP staffer bought one and received it a few days later, tracking its progress around the world through Apple's website, "It was an 'Oh s–' moment," recalls Fawkes. In thinking about ops at Apple, it becomes clear that Apple is very much like past poster children of operational excellence like Wal –Mart, Toyota, and Southwest. It is not that Apple's operational skills are great in an absolute sense. Rather it is that their operations are so intertwined with everything else that they are doing, they are essential to carrying out their strategy in the marketplace. For example, Apple has a limit product line. They don't settle for producing a few hip halo products that attract attention but were never intended to sell in high quantity. Virtually everything Apple does aims to be both hip and high volume. That means when they work with suppliers they are in a position to demand that things go their way. Further, they aim to give the customer things she doesn't know she needs yet. That means they are making big bets on production technologies or components before the competition knows they need that skill or that component. All of that would be horribly risky if they were not so good at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Tech Why Apple? As you might already know, Apple, the huge computer company, has recently been on many peoples minds. Whether it's because of its famous Macbooks and iMac's, or the new iPhone 4, the iPad, or its renowned iPod, all of whom make up part of the revolutionary repertoire of Apple products. Farhad Manjoo celebrates the fact that "Apple cultivates religious fervor among its adherents in a number of subtle ways, including its mysteriousness and its suggestion that customers are among the chosen ones"(43). Farhad is insisting that Apple has, not only made loyal customers, but more of a cult of sorts, in which fans of the companies products acclaim their work in many different ways, some so extreme as to getting the company logo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So when critics argue that Apple is very controlling over their products and who can develop software's for them or sell them, you can be sure that, that is exactly how CEO Steve Jobs wants it to be. It's very clear how this technological mogul has got to where it is, by not compromising or losing focus on what their mission as a company is. Nicholas Bonsack reports, "In a recent Consumer Reports survey focusing on four aspects of customer service for computers – problem solved, phone wait time, and the quality of phone and online support staffs – Consumer Reports subscribers gave Apple the highest marks among the top computer vendors for both laptop and desktop tech support. Founded on April 1st 1976 in Cupertino California as Apple Computer Inc., Apple has had its fair share of challenges and failures over the past 41 years but has become a behemoth of a technology company over the last ten years or so, amassing gross amounts of success (Rawlinson). The Apple II was a true innovation for its time and completely revolutionized the computer market. However, it was not the Apple II itself that was amazing even though it had color graphics and a very high resolution for its time; it was what you could do with the computer that garnered so much interest, especially from businesses (Rawlinson). Dan Bricklin, a Harvard Business School student saw that he could create and run a program on the Apple II that could do a few different types of calculations – we know this today as a spreadsheet. The program or app, named VisiCalc, solidified Apple's place in the computer and technology industry (Rawlinson). After the Apple II came the Macintosh and then came the iMac. The iMac was a design of beauty "on the shelves next to the beige computers that dominated the market back then, the teal iMac, with its cutecircular mouse and translucent body, stood out" (The Apple Revolution). In 2009, a Nigerian novelist named Chimamanda Adichie gave an amazing TED talk called "The Danger of the Single Story". A single story more or less means an incomplete or inaccurate viewpoint of a person or culture based on a story created from a single experience. When one hears the same story over and over again, we start believing only that story. Adichie claims that creating single stories is problematic and rely on power, a single story I decided to present is how people believe police officers are abusing their power, and I believe the media is at fault. For one to truly understand a story we must listen to the root of the story. Her speech made me realize and view things differently. The most current speech of the four is Steve Jobs' "You've got to find what you love." His speech targets college graduates of the 21st century. After listening to Steve Jobs' speech, I understand what he is expressing. At the beginning of his speech, he shares that he, unlike the graduates, never graduated from college; he dropped out after 6 months. Additionally, he reveals information about himself throughout the speech, such as being adopted, and the fascination for calligraphy. At the age of 20, Steve and a friend created Apple, a computer company in his parent 's garage, later to be fired from his own company. But of course that did not stop Jobs; he ended up creating two more companies called NeXT and Pixar. Presumably, the scariest time in his life started when he was diagnosed with an incurable pancreatic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Writing Is Easy Steve Martin Summary I consider the essay, "Writing Is Easy!" by Steve Martin exceptionally funny because he makes several different jokes that are entertaining and humorous. One joke that he makes is that he enjoys typing nonsense as much as he enjoys actually writing: "I could be typing "kjfiu joewmv jiw" and would enjoy is just as much as typing words that actually make sense," (5). I find this funny because it is true that some people just enjoy the feeling of their fingers on a keyboard. Another joke he makes is that when he is frustrated with writing he can just go get coffee, relax, and figure it out later. He claims "painters don't have that luxury. If they go to a coffee shop, their paint dries into a hard mass," (5). A different joke that Martin makes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Apple And Its Innovation And Business Practices History Apple, Inc. has positioned itself as the world's most profitable technology company in the world through its innovation and business practices. Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne founded Apple Inc. in 1976, to develop and sell personal computers. The vision was to change the way the world viewed computers by making them small enough for people to have in their homes or offices. It is widely reported that Jobs and Wozniak started by building the Apple I in Jobs' garage. The Apple I was sold without a monitor, keyboard, or casing. The company was incorporated as Apple Computer, Inc. in 1977, later renamed as simply Apple Inc. in 2007. The Apple II, an 8 –bit home computer introduced later in 1977, was one of the first highly successful mass–produced microcomputer products. The Apple II revolutionized the computer industry with the introduction of the first–ever color graphics. As a result, sales soared from $7.8 million in 1978 to $117 million in 1980. On December 12, 1980, Apple launched its initial public offering of its stock, selling 4.6 million shares at $22 per share with the stock symbol "AAPL" on the NASDAQ market. An article in the EDN recalls that the shares sold out almost immediately and the IPO generated more capital than any IPO since Ford Motor Company in 1956. By the end of the day, the stock had increased in value by almost 32 percent to close at $29, leaving the company with a market value of $1.778 billion. Due to conflicts with board ... • 34. Steve Jobs And Fred Shuttlesworth How These Two Men,That Died on the Same Day, Affected Your Life I took a look back in history, I came across a couple of men that died on the same day. Both of these men have had a great impact on us all. They are responsible for changes that have happened in times of segregation, to a more current time surrounded by IPhones. Steve Jobs and Fred Shuttlesworth are responsible for these changes that have created the world as we know it today. Although, both men were phenomenal at what they did, one will always be better. Fred Shuttlesworth fought for life changing outcomes. He was a blunt, driven, and confrontational man, and maybe the reason you are allowed to be where you are today. Steve Jobs and Fred Shuttlesworth were both hard working individuals, that made their dreams come to life. Although, they may be similar in a lot of ways, their impact on the world was very different. Steve Jobs was born on February 24, 1955, in San Francisco, California. Steve Jobs showed an early interest in electronics and was mentored by a neighbor, who was an electronic hobbyist. In only the eighth grade, Steve was assembling a frequency counter and noticed that he was missing a crucial part. He then gave William Hewlett, co–founder of Hewlett–Packard, a call to let him know about this missing part. Mr. Hewlett sent Jobs the missing parts and then offered Steve Jobs a summer intern job. Then I finished the article and realized that writing will never be easy. Mr. Martin examples on how to make writing easier make no sense. His tip to getting over writers block gets the writer nowhere. He says "got to an already published novel and find a sentence that you absolutely adore. Copy it down into your manuscript" (Martin). What he is saying is plagiarism. If I was to use this method to overcome writer block I would be thrown out of college. I still believe that writer block is real because even the greatest authors struggle with writers block. Mr. Matins thinks that writing depends on the writer's location. He believes that ... • 37. Run-Time Array Bound Checking Essay A Review of Run–Time Array Bound Checking Techniques Shaan Shetty School of Electrical and Computer Engineering Cornell University, Ithaca NY srs383@cornell.edu ABSTRACT C has been the most popular programming language for the last several decades due to its simplicity and superior performance. Due to this reason, most legacy software is in C. But in recent times, several breaches in security and reliability have been found to occur due to lack of memory safety of the C programming language. Memory–corruption bugs in programs can breach security, and faults in kernel extensions can bring down the entire operating system. Modern languages such as C# and Java enforce memory safety and hence prevent these security vulnerabilities.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Austin, Scott E. Breach, and Gurindar S. Sohi [1]. The idea here is to augment the pointer representation in memory with the bounds of the pointer's target. Spatial safety is enforced by checking these bounds whenever a pointer is dereferenced. These fat pointers consist of the following parameters, value: The value of the safe pointer; it may contain any expressible address., base and size: The base address of the referent and its size in bytes, storageClass: The storage class of the allocation, either Heap, Local, or Global., capability: When dynamic variables are created, either through explicit storage allocation (e.g., calls to malloc()) or through procedure invocations (i.e., a procedure call creates the local variables in the stack frame of the procedure), a unique capability is issued to that storage allocation. The value attribute is the only safe pointer member that can be manipulated by the program source; all other members are inaccessible. base and size are the spatial attributes. storageClass and capability are the temporal attributes. 1.2CCured CCured is a program transformation system that adds memory safety guarantees to C programs. It was proposed by George C. Necula, Jeremy Condit, Matthew Harren, Scott Mcpeak, and Westley Weimer[2]. This approach classifies pointers as WILD, SEQ and SAFE depending on their usage modes. You use every muscle and bone in your body because they all work together, whether you're waving, walking, running, jumping, or even flying. Your muscles and bones work together to help you move. There's a skeleton inside of you that is just a bunch of bones! We all have about 200 bones in our body and most of them are controlled with two sets of muscles. Bones form the framework of our bodies, ligaments help hold the bones together, muscles move the bones, and tendons anchor the muscles to the bones. Every bone and muscle is connected in your body! Lets think about sharks. Sharks don't have bones, only cartilage. We have cartilage too but only in our ribs, ears, and nose. That's what makes them flexible and easy to move around. Without bones we wouldn't be able to hold ourselves up, like a pancake, we'd just collapse, but if we were too stiff and rigid like a gingerbread cookie, we wouldn't be able to move at all. We need muscles and soft movable parts to get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He has a major impact on the world even after his death. His biography became a best–seller in U.S, and he was named by Fortune as "the greatest entrepreneur". To be sure, there are successful entrepreneurs all over the world. However, when it comes to entrepreneurs who changed our lives, in many cases, they are Americans. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to an article in USA TODAY, Americans emphasize themselves more than groups they belong to. The study by psychologist Jean Twenge shows that Americans have been more individualists since 1960. She analyzed the number of individualistic expressions like "unique" or "I am special", used in more than 750,000 books written by Americans in the past five decades, and compared it with that of communal words like "teamwork" or "community goals." She concluded that this analysis reflects the change of Americans trend toward individualism. There is a different view about the analysis. Dennis Baron, a linguistics professor of the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign disagree with her conclusion. He stated that her choice of expressions are subjective, so it is hard to say that individualism is the mainstream of America. Moreover, he counterargues, "People refer to themselves in the singular more than they do the plural, it does not necessarily mean we are all individualists or egoists. It just means we have more occasions to refer to one form than the other." The difference between them stems from the difference between their views about individualism. Dennis regards individualism as a symbol of egoism or selfishness. On the other hand, Jean does it as an "emphasis on uniqueness and greatness." From her perspective, the frequent use of individualistic expressions proves that Americans become ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Essay about Comparing Cyrano de Bergerac and the Movie,... Comparing Cyrano de Bergerac and the Movie, Roxanne Isn't it easier to accept the idea that a main character would be engaged in a fist fight, rather than a sword fight? Aren't fire fighters, as characters, more believable than a bunch of olden day French cadets? I certainly think so. To me it is just more real to have the setting of a story inmodern times and in the United States. Rostand's Cyrano De Bergerac is written about a time that no one alive now has experienced. There is the same plot idea that an ugly man wants the pretty girl, but she is too busy being infatuated with the pretty boy to notice the intellect of the man she truly comes to love. The cadets are steadfast men who are ready to fight, but the firemen are a bunch of goofy adults that really have no clue to what they are doing. Roxanne?s astronomer hobby and job gives her the air of being intelligent and intellectual just like Rostand?s Roxanne has. Le Bret and Raganeau morphed into the more modern character, Dixie. She takes on the role of being Charlie Bales? confident and most trusted friend. In this story, Dixie plays a key role to the plot by giving Roxanne the letter Charlie wrote. She slyly put Charlie?s name on the back so that Roxanne would finally figure out it was Charlie, not Chris, who is an intellectual mastermind. Giving the characters and setting a modern angle helps the present society relate to the masterpiece by Rostand. Is the tragedy lost, or is it just more believable? One of the most profound changes is the difference in what happens after Chris, or Christian, joyfully rushes to Roxanne?s room after the balcony scene. In the original, Cyrano keeps his word to help Christian and distracts De Guiche from interrupting what is going on in the house. In the modern version, though, Charlie sends the old ladies to walk in on Roxanne and Chris. Most people would probably have done the same thing. A person who is in love with another person won?t just sit back and watch while someone else steals the love away. They would seize the opportunity to stop anything going on between them.
