Emotional Disconnection Summary
Maryann, Marci, and Joseph have a difficult time in treating the patients, due to the shortage of staff
present, which results in the feeling of disconnection between the nurses in the hospital and the
patients. It is observed that disconnection (as a result of stress) carries deep surface effects on the
employee. According to Gallup.com, there three categories of work performance, they include the
following: Engaged, disengaged, and actively disengaged (Rosenfeld, 2013). They assess the
performance of the employee, and whether or not the employees are emotionally stable, thus, this
factor in the effects of emotional disconnection on the quality of life for the employee. In the
summary presented above, there can be clear evidence of disconnection ... Show more content on

The nursing teams were excluded from connecting with the patients, due to societal and linguistic
barriers. In contrast, social inclusion is where all members of society share a common goal in
helping maintain a cohesive balance to society, while uplifting moral and behavioral conditions
(Jonas, 2013). This was present in the beginning, where the compassionate and selfless behavior of
the nursing team helped spur them to travel great lengths helping others in need. The rationale for
the research findings, which connects to the situation summary, provides factual evidence and
reasoning to provide an in–depth analysis. For the first rationale, this describes the indicators of
work performance. Mentioned the concept of disconnectedness, as it is a main challenge that
interconnects to stress in the workplace. This genuinely was present in the situation summary, thus
there is attached pathos towards the development of the situation summary. The second research
finding is the Missing Puzzle Effect, which describes the psychological reasoning behind social
exclusion. If there is a slight perception that there will be negative loss or social repercussions, then
there will be greater levels of hostility or social exclusion to maintain the current status. Thus, a
feeling of empathy and

Evolution And Religion : The Disconnection
Evolution and Religion: The Disconnection For years, theologians and scientists have debacled as to
which theories could be categorized as correct as opposed to incorrect theologies. On a larger scale,
these individuals debate the question of the universe's origin, as well as the origin of life itself. Some
of the most contemplated questions theologians face are those that include thoughts regarding the
creation of all living things. Whether or not all things that currently inhabit the world are derived
from a single act that has yet to be defined, or if it perhaps the result of a combination of random,
yet coinciding, events? The theory of Intelligent Design is perceived to be hold credible

However, Young Earth believers also say that because of their beliefs, literal interpretation would
lead people to believe that God is the Great Deceiver. Under this presumption, referring to God as
the Great Deceiver, it means that God has lied or tried to test "us" as individual believers of the
faith, with fossils situated in different layers in the crust and areas around the globe. While some
would explain these tests evolution, Young Earth creationist expel this idea and consider those who
follow Darwin's theory of evolution a failure to their faith in God's creation. As an accepted
scientific theory, evolution is the change in allele frequency in a population over time. It is in my
opinion, irrefutable to argue the ideology of Young Earth creationism. It is a readily accepted
scientific fact that alleles, genes, undergo minute mutations from generation to generation directly
depending on what organisms of that species lived; survival of the fittest. Otherwise known as
Natural Selection, Survival of fittest is the idea that only the organisms best adapted to the
ecosystem may survive. This process, defined by Charles Darwin, is said to be a main constituent
effecting evolution. For example, if the ground and a mouse is white, it will most likely to be killed
and or eaten based on the sole fact that it stands out against its darker counterparts. In continuation,
if an animal of prey is slower than the rest of its pack,

Bell Jar Disconnection
It is said that people cannot truly know themselves, but must rely on reflections in mirrors,
photographs, and other people in their lives. Unable to see themselves as others see them, people
often get confused and end up detaching themselves from reality. Author Sylvia Plath was a bright,
young woman with an interest in poetry and writing. However, after the death of her father, she
developed neurosis and attempted suicide for the first time using sleeping pills, but was
unsuccessful. She uses her depression and suicidal tendencies as a foundation for her novel,
published two weeks before her successful suicide. The Bell Jar highlights the concept of
detachment through the main character, Esther, who feels a disconnection from herself. As she
struggles to recognize herself and find a path for her future, she slowly descends into madness.
Sylvia Plath in The Bell Jar creates the motifs of mirrors and magazines to convey the idea that
individuals often have difficulty accepting themselves.
Quite often, magazines glamorize real life and make reality distant from fact. This is especially true
throughout The Bell Jar, starting as early as page 2 where the main character explains a ... Show

Especially through the disease neurosis, which Esther had, she never connected her mirror image to
her inner image, even when she seems to look "normal:" "Then my ears went funny, and I noticed a
big, smudgy–eyed Chinese woman staring idiotically into my face. It was only me, of course, I was
appalled to see how wrinkled and used up I looked" (Plath 18). Esther doesn't immediately
recognize herself in an elevator reflection, which startles her and causes her to believe she is not
alone in the elevator. Later in the novel, after her signs of depression have began to emerge, she
starts to cry during a magazine photoshoot. Once she stops crying and attempts to apply makeup to

Analysis Of The Sound Of Silence
In today's time, there is a multitude of ways in which people can talk to each other. Due to the
development of various kinds of technology, such as cell phones, people have a much easier time
with communication. Despite how easy modern society has made it to communicate with others, it
seems as if people today are not at all focused on meaningful communication, causing disconnection
amidst society. "The Sound of Silence", written by Paul Simon, explores the theme of disconnection
between people, due to a lack of meaningful communication. Through use of figurative language,
such as paradoxes, similes, and personification, "The Sound of Silence" scrutinizes the topic of
meaningful communication, and what can happen when there is a lack of ... Show more content on

The third verse of the song is where the problem of disconnection becomes known "Ten thousand
people, maybe more/People talking without speaking/People hearing without listening", (Lines 16–
18, Paul Simon). These lines show the main problem that the speaker encountered. A large group of
people, all communicating, but not meaningfully whatsoever. The deeper meaning of "The Sound of
Silence" helps articulate Paul Simon's message to listeners about life, i.e. the theme. "The Sound of
Silence" has a theme that is relevant to people today. This theme is that one should always try and
make meaningful communication with others. If one becomes too self–absorbed, a disconnection
will occur. Meaningful communication is the key to advancing as a civilization. A line in the song
which helps demonstrate Paul Simon's theme is found in the final verse: "The words of the
prophets/Are written on the subway walls", (Lines 32 – 33, Paul Simon). These lines explain that
words and ideas that were once important to humanity are now only seen alike graffiti, unimportant
and a nuisance. If all the teachings that humanity has already learned are ignored, civilization will
not advance. Civilization will rather fall back into the same mistakes it had already made, forever in
a perpetual state of limbo; not moving forward due to disconnection and ignorance, both of which
stemmed from communication problems. This message about life should not be ignored,

Going Clear Is Focused On The Church Of Scientology
The documentary 'Going Clear' is focused on the Church of Scientology. Some of the important
figures in the documentary included Paul Haggis, Lawrence Wright, Sara Goldberg, Spanky Taylor,
and Marthy Rathbun (Going Clear). In this documentary, these former scientologists were
interviewed about their personal experiences, where they revealed information about what actually
happened behind the doors of the Church. The documentary was based on Lawrence Wright's book,
'Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood and the Prison of Belief' and was a compilation of the
opinions of several former scientologists about the true colors of Scientology and Hubbard's history
(Going Clear). Additionally, these figures shared their beliefs and opinions about Scientology. In this
documentary, there are several effective persuasion techniques which all attempt to persuade the
audience against Scientology. In my paper, I will be discussing these persuasion techniques and
showing the different ways each former scientologist impacts the audience through their stories. One
of the most prominent figures in this documentary was Paul Haggis. Paul is a writer and filmmaker
whose former membership with the Church gives him distinct credibility (Science of Persuasion

three years. Paul spoke out about his experiences with Scientology, calling it a "cult" and
mentioning many disturbing aspects about the church

How Does Mercury Energy Affect Ethical Behavior
The power disconnection by Mercury Energy resulted to the premature death of Mrs. Muliaga.
Though health specialists assigned to Mrs. Muliaga had only given her 1–3 years of life, she had
defied the odds and lived for over five years. When the news of Mercury Energy participation
reached the public, the media become awash with accusations of how the state owned Mercury
Energy victimizes its customers. Mercury Energy was accused on implementing capitalist principles
in its operations. Capitalism in business means that a company is driven to make profits. Mercury
Energy disconnected the Muliaga's power supply without determining the underlying issues that
could have caused the delay in payment. Mercury Energy was accused of ethical misbehavior by
failing to overlook their disconnection policy based on the patient's need for an operational oxygen
machine.
The executives and management of Mercury Energy also came off as contemptuous, having
vehemently denied responsibility for the premature death of their customer. Mercury Energy as a
brand name suffered severely with the news of its involvement with the death of Mrs. Muliaga. As a

Emotional Connection Through Visual Disconnection In Jackie
Emotional Connection Through Visual Disconnection in Jackie Directed by Pablo Larrain with
Cinematographer, Stephane Fontaine, Jackie was a revolutionary film because it provided an
alternate perspective of a story that has been told countless times before: the John F. Kennedy
assassination. But rather than tell the story from the standpoint of the man who committed the crime,
or the man who was the victim of it, Jackie tells the story of the woman who was perhaps the most
affected by it, but whose voice is rarely the center of the discourse surrounding it. In doing so, the
film provides its audience with a raw and at times, painful, glimpse into the life of Jackie Kennedy
leading up to, and shortly after, the assassination of her husband. The deepest ... Show more content

During these scenes, Jackie is outwardly angry and depressed and the audience sees her processing
her grief in a very overt visual manner. However, some of the most powerful depictions of Jackie's
feelings occur during scenes where Jackie is simply the first lady and her husband is still alive. In
these moments, we don't see grief but rather a different type of pain that is so repressed that it could
not be expressed through her actions, so the filmmakers use framing, lighting, and other visual
elements to convey her emotions. The scene when Jackie arrives in Dallas displays Jackie
Kennedy's feelings of detachment that she experienced during the moments leading up to her
husband's assassination. Within the scene, there are many moments where Jackie is facing
completely away from the camera and all that is in the shot is the back of her head. As you can see

Disconnection And Alienation In St Patrick's College By...
An author's personal experience gives authenticity to their text. Peter Skrzynecki, an Australian poet
of Polish origin emigrated to Australia shortly before the end of World War II. His assimilation into
his newfound homeland is portrayed in his emotive poetry, where he explores his disconnection and
alienation. The way in which Skrzynecki writes about his personal experiences gives an authentic
insight into the perspective of a migrant, allowing the audience to better understand the challenging
emotions evoked by the migrant experience. These emotions are clearly seen in Skrzynecki's poem
St Patrick's College, where he delves back through his experiences at school and highlights the
disconnection and alienation he felt being a migrant. This disconnection is further expressed in
Feliks Skrzynecki, where Skrzynecki alludes to his detachment from even his father. These feelings
of disconnection and alienation shown by Skrzynecki in his poems, allows the audience to
understand the effects of growing up as a migrant.
The process of transitioning into a new context can put pressure on an individual to belong, leading
to disconnection for the individual if they don't belong. Peter Skrzynecki was enrolled into a
Catholic School after his family migrated from Europe to Australia. The effects of this change in
context for Skrzynecki is portrayed in his poem St Patrick's College, where he gives authentic
personal insight into the challenges faced by migrants growing up in a new

Exemplification Essay: The Disconnection With The Army
The disconnection with the military starts with the disconnection with America's politicians. Before
a politicians is elected they want to give you a great sales pitch in order for you to vote for them.
They sale you dreams and hope and once you vote for them, they get into office or their political
seat, everything that some of them say ends up going away. Now that they are placed were they
want to be, some of those future plans that they told you they were going to do is gone. It's all a
hustle, it's a part of the campaign process and it leads people right back in the same situation they
were in before and after the person they voted for is gone. I myself have the most respect for those
who are serving in the military, but when someone say that they are doing it for their country, I want
to know what is the country doing for them. When you're serving for your country you're being
placed in a foreign land away from your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The way they move, the way they think, the way they react, it all has changed. The whole mentality
that they had before is broken. Some of the stories you hear from them, it makes you as yourself is it
even worth it? I, myself don't believe in "serving" in the military because of my thought process in
this country and the whole political aspect of it. In the book, "The breach of Trust" it gave a quote
from the Vietnam War that said "That late in the war, navigating between honor and dishonor,
foolhardy courage and craven cowardice, necessary subordination and mindless obedience posed
challenges. It was not a happy time or place to be an American soldier" (Pg. 8). Placing someone in
a situation like that only leads to their death and not success. During that time people were drafted
into a war that some never wanted to be in and if someone doesn't want to be there what makes you

in the NCU ProQuest, EBSCOhost databases, and Dissertation resources on organizational barriers
and disconnection. The starting point of the literature review is the theory of quality management
and the subsequent emergence of quality–related standards and regulations. Information sources for
the proposed study included books on quality management theory obtained from the EBSCOHost
database and peer–reviewed articles from the ProQuest database.
Also, the literature search included research articles, private and government websites, and ... Show

The ProQuest keyword advance search for the key words was narrowed by requesting full text, peer

included variations of the key problem statement words disconnection, misalignment and process
management. The articles returned and chosen were those that included information about
leadership process disconnections, misalignment, and disconnected processes related to quality and
medical devices
The purpose of this qualitative, multiple–case study is to investigate leadership barriers and
organizational process disconnections that have led to the marketing of potentially unsafe medical
devices. Many qualitative studies (e.g., Iden, 2012, Oakland, 2011, Obeidat et al., 2014, Pater, 2013,
Raeesi et, al., 2013, Rising et al. 2012, Seethamraju, 2012, Suckley et al., 2013; Storbacka, 2012,
Talib et al., 2011; Tucker et al., 2013) have been conducted on organizational barriers and
disconnection. However, no studies were located related to the marketing of potentially unsafe
medical devices. In the proposed study, factors that influence or hinder the manufacture of safe and
effective medical devices will be identified and explored.
Medical devices are used to mitigate health issues and to maintain an acceptable quality of life
(Harrison et al. 2013). Because medical devices are expected to perform without failure,

The Impact Of Digital Technology On Society
With new technical breakthroughs happening every minute, technology is advancing far beyond our
imagination. The internet has become increasingly accessible with new smartphones and smart
devices, and with them came new social media applications. Social media has now become a large
factor in the lives of many people across the globe as a means of finding and distributing
information. People spend more and more time on the internet, and less time having face to face
human interactions. Instead of human interactions and networking, popularity and social status is
now based on friends on Facebook, followers on Twitter, and Instagram "likes". The lack of
meaningful social interactions has caused an increase in mental health issues such as social anxiety
and depression, and adversely impacts human society. Digital technology negatively affects
happiness because it causes loneliness, mental illness and a disconnection from the real world.
Social platforms negatively affect happiness because it causes loneliness. As social media becomes
more pronounced in our daily lives, the further apart we grow from each other physically and the
closer we become on the internet. A person might have 2,000 friends on Facebook but in reality has
no "real" friends to connect with on a more personal level. The phrase, your real friends, captures
the anxieties that social media have produced: the fears that Facebook along with other social media
platforms is interfering with our real friendships,

Group Disconnection
During the initial stages our classes' group process meeting, group member interactions brought to
the surface this notion of responsibility. For the purposes of confidentiality, I will refer to the
individuals as member X and member Y. Member X was asked by the group leader to elaborate on a
feeling by using one word. Although done in a caring way, member X was not able to completely
grasp the request without storytelling. For the purposes of achieving more congruency in expression,
the group leader used caring confrontation. Subsequently, this skillful application of confrontation,
while keeping the focus on the present, allowed member X to go deeper in self–expression. In
addition, member Xs' willingness to trust (1) the leader, (2) the process, and (3) self, also assisted in
the outcomes possibility. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, there was an immediate reaction regarding the apparent disconnection. In this instance,

member's, the group leader demonstrated caring confrontation, giving feedback, and facilitation.
Caring confrontation when expressing the conflict between the verbal and non–verbal cues and the
blockage of in–depth self–expression. Giving feedback when encouraging the other group members

Connections and Disconnections through Silence in Jennifer Egan's
A Visit from the Goon Squad

Dr. Joanne Horwood
English 1100–02
April 6, 2018 Jennifer Egan's novel, A Visit from the Goon Squad, presents and implies various
moments of silence throughout its chapters. Silence reinforces tensions between characters of
opposing interests, establishes recognition of a character's harsh reality or bridges a gap between
some characters like a father and a son. Sarah Churchwell describes the novel as "a book about
memory and kinship, time and narrative, continuity and disconnection, in which relationships shift
and recombine kaleidoscopically" (par 1). Churchwell's interpretation of Egan's novel is insightful
because it conveys the different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the film, In Pursuit of Silence, most of the respondents discussed about the significant effects of
silence on people's emotional, physical and psychological welfare. Furthermore, they have
encouraged people to experience silence in their lives more often (00:06:36–1:21:07). In his article,
"This is Your Brain on Silence", Daniel A. Gross also suggests that silence benefits people's well–
being while noise causes harmful effects (par 7–35).For the reason that several moments of silence
in Egan's novel affect most of the characters in a positive way, some readers might argue that those
moments of silence cannot establish gaps between the characters. Indeed, there are only few studies
that deal with the possible negative impact of silence especially in relation to technology. In her
book, Alone Together: Why We Expect More from Technology and Less from Each Other, Sherry

between people and their surroundings (Turkle 207–209,266–270). But, silence that is produced by

Mental Disconnection
There were however, times when I experienced mental disconnection from the class. Those days I
encountered in which I had either experienced some outside influence that inadvertently affected my
responses in class or merely experiencing fatigue of the body. Often times, such instances were

want to do is listen and not participate in the discussions. Those classes I did not fully utilise or

deliberately finding ways to either reduce or eliminate mental stress or fatigue by engaging in the act

Relationship Between Child Support And Child Relationship
Parent to Child Relationship Analyzed by Child Support and Disconnection
I am writing about the topic of how child support can affect the relationship a parent feels towards
their child. In a sense that it can make the parent feel as if the child is an expense. As something they
have to constantly keep up with like a phone bill or water bill. I chose this topic because I feel that
there is a disconnection between parents that are required to pay child support toward their child.
Those parents paying child support in most instances are only allowed to see their child for a certain
period of time. That being a weekend or every other weekend. If not at all in the most extreme cases.
This disconnection in turn can lead to a broken relationship between the parent and the child. The
parent is seen as a negative figure by the child whereas the parent sees the child as an expense.
Which can lead to other negative impacts between the family. The parent with full custody or
majority custody is a better able to raise the child and instill negative feelings about the other parent
into the child. What is significant and interesting about this particular field of inquiry that this is
constantly happening in modern time. As seen through high levels of divorce, custody battles, and
parents that are required to pay child support on a monthly basis. At times the other parent with
majority custody can even be better off as they are receiving another check while the parent required
to pay child support is at times struggling to get by. Needless to say that the parent required to pay
child support is at fault and put themselves in the situation in the first place. The challenges I expect
to face while researching are unscholarly resources in which frustrated parents post on online
websites. Even though these experiences may be first hand insights they are most likely posted to
unscholarly websites which cannot be used for this essay. A possible thesis is, child support leads to
a broken relationship between a parent and a child with the cause of future disconnection. The
research question being, "Does child support make a parent feel like their child is an expense that
leads to disconnection?" With many answers surrounding this

The Disconnection Between Aurora And Felicia
The character most important to me is Felicia, Aurora's mom, because she is like "the earth" that
tries to convince Aurora that Echo Park is part of her life, because it's their home. In chapter 2, the
disconnection between Aurora and Felicia originates with the death of Alma. Alma dies, when it was
supposed to be Aurora the one that should have died. The only thing that saved her was not
following Felicia's orders, so she moved and didn't receive the bullet that killed Alma. After this
event, Aurora starts to not follow her mom's orders and ends up leaving Echo Park, their home, and

In chapter 8, the connection that is developed between her and Aurora shows that Aurora could
come back to Echo Park. Felicia's decision of giving her dog, Blackjack, to Aurora and making her
accept that it is her dog now, represents her accepting that Echo Park is her home. Through this act,
Felicia's intentions of making Aurora realize that Echo Park is part of her identity and her home is
proven. Therefore, when the dog escapes and gets lost, she sends Aurora to find it as if she sends her
to realize that Echo Park is her home. Through her journey of finding the dog, Aurora finds herself
learning what Echo Park has become from what she remembers. This shows that Felicia is "the
earth" because she never left Echo Park and she wanted her daughter to not leave it either. She
wanted Aurora to not forget where her real home is, which identifies her and makes her part of Echo
Park too. I think Felicia's character is important to the novel and the realization of Aurora towards
Echo Park being her home. I believe we need to remember from where we come and be proud of our
roots because that is what identifies us and makes us unique. It is not wrong to want to succeed in
life like Aurora wanted to, but we also need to know and accept ourselves, which includes our
background and history. Our history is what identifies us and makes us stand out from

Morals And Values In Everyday Use By Alice Walker
Historically, values and beliefs are ascribed to people depending on their family's heritage. Most
religious people are religious because they were brought up in a home that believed in a particular
religion. There are some scholars that have been taught by the best schools and teachers due to their
family having a grand educational background. Even though all individuals are different in their
own right, a family normally holds the same beliefs and values as one another. Morals and values
are traditionally passed down through generations, however, there are situations where social
influences can play a role in deciding a person's principals. Family members that are influenced by
society rather than their families can easily become the outliers of the bunch. In "Everyday Use",
Alice Walker demonstrates how social differences such as religion, education, and status between
family members can cause a disconnection within the family. Dee's social change in religion causes
a disconnection between the family. Walker makes it evident in the story that Mama is a Christian
when she describes a feeling that she has "like when I'm in church and the spirit of God touches
me..." (499). One could assume that both Dee and Maggie were brought up as Christians along with
Mama. On her visit back home, Dee tells her mother to call her Wangero instead of Dee and uses
terms such as Wa–su–zo–Tean–o and Asalamalakum which signifies that she has adopted the
Muslim religion. She also brings a friend along with her who has adopted the Muslim religion as
well. The story portrays Mama to seem as though she has no interest in Dee's new name, and David
Cowart explains this by stating "She [Mama] tries to have it both ways, referring to her daughter
now by one name, now by the other, now by parenthetically hybridized combinations of both" (171).
Mama named Dee after a family member, so when Dee changed her name to something else, a
disconnection between her and the family arose. Another social difference Walker uses to illustrate a
disconnection within the family is education. Mama only has second–grade education due to her
school burning down and never getting rebuilt. Mama explains how Maggie has a hard time reading

Analysis Of Sylvia Plath's Tulips
"Tulips" by Sylvia Plath explores the idea of disconnecting oneself from life, only to be reminded of
their responsibilities in life. The speaker in the poem is in a hospital room, separate from their
family. No one is present in the white hospital room, except for the speaker and the tulips. The room
is peaceful and allows the speaker to enjoy a lack of commitment towards anything. Unfortunately
for the speaker, the tulips in the room remind the speaker of their life and bind the speaker to their
responsibilities. In Sylvia Plath's "Tulips," color symbolism and personification contrast the peace of
disconnection and commitments in life.

The color symbolism of the white hospital room and the red tulips juxtapose the peacefulness of the
hospital room with the speaker's internal conflict regarding their responsibilities.
Personification of silence and tulips further emphasizes the speaker's disconnection with worldly
responsibilities with the chaos of life. The silence and peace of the hospital room is freeing to the
speaker, as they are removed from their responsibilities. The hospital room is void of any
distractions and "The peacefulness is so big it dazes you,/ And it asks nothing" (32,33). By the room
asking nothing, its quietness does not demand anything and this is freeing for the speaker, as they
are disconnected from their responsibilities. The tulips remind the speaker of their life and their
mortality, as they observe the speaker. The speaker has been left alone in the room, but once the
tulips arrive the speaker realizes that "Nobody watched [her] before, now [she is] watched./ The
tulips turn to [her]" (43, 44). The speaker, alone in the room, is free from any connections to the
outside world until the tulips from her family arrive. The tulips, staring at the speaker, remind them
that they do have responsibilities outside of the peaceful room. The speaker, alone in the room, is

Does Social Media Affect The Generation Today?
Does social media affect the generations today? Social media causes a disconnection between the
young children and the older generation, distraction from our love ones, and the short term
gratification from the tweets, likes, shares, etc. Disconnection leads to the effect of distraction. Lack
of communication is an example of disconnection from the world around us. Many examples can
describe distraction from others. Today, short term gratification seems to be more of what the
generations want.
Additionally, social media leads to the effect of disconnection from younger people to the older
generation. People want to text other people instead of calling them. This leads to the lack of
communication between the generations. The younger generation does not understand the effect of
communication. The language has changed as well. Generations in today's time use the "slang"
terms instead of the older dialect the elder people use. A disconnection is lost between the child and
their love ones. The child does not pay attention to their love ones, because they are busy on their
cell phones. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Study On Eating Pathology Among Latinas Essay
THEORETICAL PROPOSITIONS There is a lack of studies that investigate the eating pathology
among Latinas even though there is evidence that a binge eating component (i.e. binge eating
disorder, bulimia nervosa) is more prevalent among Latinas compared with other races. For those
who are engaged in binge eating tend to have unrealistic high expectations for themselves, which
often are difficult to achieve. When the individual, in this case a Latina, has fallen short of these
high expectations, they experience negative affect from which she is motivated to binge eat. Dr.
Neyland proposed that stressful experiences across three domains of interest: individual, family, and
environment. The independent variable of acculturative stress (individual level) is defined as the
stress and reduction in health status that one experiences while going under the process of adapting
to a different culture. Then for family, there is family disconnection, which is not unique to Latinas
but there is a strong emphasis that Latinas place on family relationships. They value it so much that
if they experience family disconnection, they would likely be experienced as failure to meet cultural
standards. And lastly, there is the environmental factor which is discrimination. Among Latina/os,
there is a large amount of reports of discrimination which is believed to have impacted many to have
lower self–esteem and a significantly slower growth in self–esteem over time. Neyland

The Disconnection By Alice Walker
In Everyday Use Historical Criticisms explores the disconnection that people can sometimes have
depending on their education. Alice Walker successfully shows the disconnection by comparing two
ends of the spectrum of generation. Taking the historical context it plays a major role in the way this
short story is viewed. It was a time where people of color had a different and difficult experience
getting an education. When the narrator was talking about having an education it was important
because she wanted to be on a television show her success and how far she went. However Dee see's
her mother and Maggie differently as if they don't know how to appreciate heritage as an art. For

As the story progressed it led to Dee fighting for the quilts since she did not want Maggie to have
them because she was just going to use it as an everyday item instead of valuing it as art. "Can I
have these old quilts? I heard something fall in the kitchen, and a minute later the kitchen door
slammed. Why don't you take one of the others? No, said Wangero (Dee) I don't want those"
(Walker 292). Dee wanted the quilts to have them hanging on the wall at her house to show her
heritage and her culture. In that short section it showed the difference of wanting to use the quilt as
an everyday item as some form of art to make a statement of showing how proud she was her
heritage during a time where colored people were oppressed. In the end of the story when Dee
leaves after the argument and has a dramatic exit while, her mother and Maggie just sit outside until
bedtime, which showed the difference of the older generation and new. On one side there is a
passive approach and then there is the new generation which is demonstrated as being a fighter, and
fighting for what you believe until you get what you want or at least try. One main focus in this
story is heritage and the different value is holds for people. On one hand Dee admires her culture
and embraces it too its full extent. She changes her name from "Dee Johnson to "Wangero

Acceptance In Peter Skrzynecki's Immigrant Chronicle
An individual's feeling of acceptance is directly affected by their sense of belonging in the world,
through coming to terms upon where they truly do and do not belong. This sense of acceptance is
heavily reliant on an individual's attitude and experiences, as it revolves around where they seem to
belong in a society, culture, or environment, and their realization of place in the world. This
relationship between belonging and a sense of acceptance is explored through Peter Skrzynecki's
'Immigrant Chronicle'– a series of poems published in 1975 depicting the struggle of an immigrant
family establishing themselves in post WWII Australia. The struggle for finding his place is
explored vividly through his works 'St Patricks College' and 'Postcard', ... Show more content on

Both texts effectively explore and convey that an individual's sense of belonging lies fundamentally
with their acceptance and place in the world.
A sense of place and acceptance in the world often can only be accomplished through previously
feeling disconnected or alienated; finding where an individual does not belong before recognising
where they do. This cultivated sense of alienation, due to disconnection and displacement, is
solemnly conveyed throughout Peter Skrzynecki's poem 'St Patrick's College', as the poet struggles
to find connections emotionally, spiritually, or physically to the prestigious school he attends,
evidently due to having no place in that particular environment. Skrzynecki stresses through the first
two stanzas his immediate alienation through his forced enrolment to the 'impressive' school by his
"Mother... wanting only "What was best"", seemingly condemning her for expecting him to flourish
in an environment he did not relate with. The

Human Disconnection In Fahrenheit 451
The Human Disconnection within Fahrenheit 451 "I define connection as the energy that exists
between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without
judgement; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship," Brene Brown
stated, who is an american scholar, author and public speaker. Human connection is pretty much a
necessity in life, and it is also something that Fahrenheit 451 lacks. In the story, written by Ray
Bradbury, the society focuses more on technological advances and not so much on the individuals
themselves. Throughout the entire book, you can see how unfocused people are on one another and
how much of their surroundings they don't notice. A good example of this is Montag

Importance Of Disconnection In Workplace Communication
Upon your request, I have researched communication in the workplace for the organization and its
upcoming projects. The knowledge gathered and discussed in this document could possibly be
applied to our organization and the new project. This document will outline disconnection in
workplace communication, leadership styles in a workplace, huddles and debriefings, emails and
Instant message in a workplace, and motivation of employees.
Many employees see themselves as disconnected from workplace communication. In a recent report
done by Gallup, a research and performance–management consulting company, "74 percent of
employees feel they are detached from receiving important information from their companies"
(Dynamic Signal, 2017). The study also found that employees were not using their intranet within
the company, but the vast majority of employees do own and use their smartphones regularly.
Communication budgets are also stagnating and this might be due to an absence of understanding
the importance of superior internal communication in boosting productivity and profits. Many
businesses are unaware that poor internal communication and lack of information for employees is
costing them money.
Email is prevalent form of technological communication, but instant messaging and texting is a
growing form of communication in many workplaces. "The amount of people who use instant
messaging at work went up from 31 percent in 2014 to 41 percent in 2017" (Herzlich, 2017). There

texts choose to represent the Australian landscape as being harsh and untamed, others appear to
present them in a more positive fashion. However, when we get to the heart of each text, it's context
and purpose we find a common theme of connection with the land within them. In this analysis I
will be using Wild Cat Falling by Mudrooroo, My Country by Dorothea Mackellar and The Drovers

sentance uses emotive language of hopelessness and disconnection to get the reader to respond on
an emotional level and the readers emotional response from that positions them to share the writers

connection to the landscape that he refuses to believe that he has. The effect on the audience is that
we feel a strange disconnection with the Australian landscape and a feeling that we don't belong. On
page 30 the main character quotes "on clear nights I could see the water alight under the space

The Importance Of Social Disconnection And Alienation
Our society should be aware of social disconnection and alienation due to the increase of
technological advances. How do technological advances lead to disconnection and alienation?
People can feel disconnected from reality, from themselves, or from other people. They physically
alienate themselves willingly by withdrawing from a source that can be a cause of pain or
discomfort; such as bullying, disagreements, past relations, family or work issues.
Maria Furukawa states that "Advancements, particularly in handheld devices, such as smartphones,
iPads, and smart–watches, have made our lives more efficient by making everything we need
accessible at the tap of a screen or a swipe to the left. Essentially, technology has taken the "hard
work" of talking to someone in person, of physically reading a book and of using our minds to do
some mental math and replaced it with a device. I have noticed that technology, ironically,
disconnects us from living in the present moment. Even though we try our hardest to communicate
what we mean over text, there is still a possibility for miscommunication or misinterpretation of
what was written. If instead, a conversation was held in person, facial expressions, changes in tone,
and hand gestures are some ways that miscommunication can be avoided." (Furukawa 2017) People
can create a virtual world by using these devices with the increase of screen time and internet usage.
They are subjected to advertisements, unrealistic standards, online bullying and constant access to
negative information. In this virtual world, there are numerous sites for social networking. In this
case, people do not need to physically interact with one another and can espouse any persona to their
present need.
Dwight G. Dean, in his article, explains that "The concept of Alienation is considered here as having
three major components: Powerlessness, Normlessness, and Social Isolation." (Dean 1961) Humans
by nature need interaction with other humans. It's a biological necessity. Hawkley states that "As a
social species, humans rely on a safe, secure social surround to survive and thrive. Perceptions of
social isolation, or loneliness, increase vigilance for threat and heighten feelings of vulnerability

Disconnection Essay
When people are feeling down or there is something wrong with them they tend to disconnect from
the world and go into one of their own. In this place they find comfort and safety and it is
somewhere that no one can bother them for the time being. I myself find comfort just lying in my
bed staring at the ceiling and drifting off in thought. For artists though, they are able to find this
comforting place in music. Blink 182, Linkin Park, and NAS are some of the famous artists that are
able to disconnect from the world through their songs. They are able to get all of there thoughts out
through music and the world has a chance to hear them.

person and that is what he is going to judge you on in the end. The group became disconnected from
the world in order to think of this song. They must have spent a lot of time gathering there thoughts
and opinions to come up with the lyrics and verses.
The best example of feeling disconnected come from the lyrics of Blink 182's "Adam's
song". This song was written by the drummer of the band to express how life was on tour.
"The tour was over we'd survived I couldn't wait till I got home to pass the time in my room

world. He had been on tour for months entertaining people and he never had anytime for himself so
all he wanted to do was be alone and not have to make anyone but himself happy.
Song writers are excellent on expressing their feeling os disconnection from he world because they
usually never have anytime to be themselves so they express is through song. I think that everyone
needs time to disconnect in one way or another. It gives you time to be by yourself and think about

Disconnection In Society
There are seasons in life in which people can feel disconnected from their surrounding worlds.
Although this feeling of disconnection can be difficult to isolate and define, it usually manifests
itself in any number of areas to include society, a circle of friends or acquaintances, family, and even
from oneself. Disconnection can be evidenced most vividly in the inability of a person to assimilate
to his surroundings and as a result he or she acts irregularly; apart from his or her normal and true
self. It can ultimately lead to confusion and a perpetual search for identity. Disconnection is often
thought to be the byproduct of one's surroundings and the circumstances in which he or she lives; in

In "Ingroup and Outgroup," by Myers, he writes about how different groups of people display bias
towards other groups. Whether this is a conscience and deliberate behavior or not, it shows how
people can feel disconnected from certain groups of people. A common problem that many
individuals experience, especially during the younger years of a person, is that one may feel as if
they do not fit in with a certain group of people; he or she is not part of the "ingroup" (Myers 99–
100). Because of this, the individual feels disconnected. The problem with this scenario, however, is
that just because the individual does not fit in with a certain group, does not mean he or she is
completely disconnected. The individual may feel as if he or she is utterly disconnected from the
surrounding world, but in reality, there is so much more that is being missed. Once again, the choice

Technology And Social Disconnection From Everyday Life
"Not a wired culture, but a virtual cultural that is wired shut: compulsively fixated on digital
technology as a source of salvation from the reality of a lonely culture and radical social
disconnection from everyday life" (Doheny–Farina, 1996). The mobile telephone has been the most
rapidly disseminated piece of technology in world history. The first commercially available mobile
devices were available in the 1980's, and since then have expanded exponentially. In 1994, Finland
was the world leader in terms of mobile subscribers with ten–percent of the population being
hooked on a mobile contract (Wirzenius, n.d.). Over the past twenty years, these numbers have
increased beyond one 's imagination. As of January 2014, ninety percent of American adults own a
cell phone and over half of those own a smartphone (Pew Research Center 's Internet & American
Life Project, 2014). These numbers will only increase with time as in a survey conducted by Pew
Internet (2014) ninety–eight percent of adults between the ages of eighteen to twenty–nine own
mobile devices with numbers decreasing slightly as the population aged. As our culture begins to
shift more into the digital revolution age we find ourselves losing vital communication skills in

Symbolism And Symbolism In Sylvia Plath's Tulips
Sylvia Plath's "Tulips" explores the idea of disconnecting oneself from life, only to remember their
responsibilities in life. The speaker in the poem is in a hospital room, separate from her family. No
one is present in the white hospital room, except for the speaker and the tulips. The room is peaceful
and allows the speaker to enjoy a lack of commitment towards anything. Unfortunately for the
speaker, the tulips in the room remind her of her life and bind the speaker to her prior commitments.
Color symbolism and personification contrast the peace of disconnection and obligations in life.
Color symbolism of the white hospital room and the red tulips juxtapose the peacefulness of the
speaker's temporary freedom from responsibility and the harsh reality of life. For instance, the
hospital room which the speaker resides in is white. The speaker draws attention to this, stating
"Look how white everything is" as "the light lies on these white walls" (Plath 2, 4). White is
traditionally symbolic of purity and peace. The hospital, with its white walls, is wholesome and
calming, emphasizing the peacefulness of freedom. Clashing with the white hospital room are the
vividly red tulips in the room. The tulips are a harsh red color, typically associated with pain, that
threatens the speaker and is uncomfortable. The disdain for the tulips is evident, as the "tulips are
too red in the first place" and "they hurt" the speaker (36). The red tulips evoke pain as they are
juxtaposed with the calmness of the white room. The vividly red tulips are striking against the white
walls of the hospital, as they revoke the peacefulness of the speaker's surroundings. Furthermore, the
redness of the tulips reminds the speaker of their prior commitments. The tulips are more than just
flowers, for they upset the speaker "with their sudden tongues and their color" and serve as a "dozen
red lead sinkers round my neck." (41, 42). The tulips bring the speaker back to reality as they drag
her down. The white hospital room serves as a safe–haven from responsibility, while the tulips
present in the room remind the speaker of her obligations in life. The color symbolism of the white

Technology A Disconnection
Opinion Piece – Technology: A Disconnection Over the past few years, technology has become a
significant part of people's every day lives. It helps people connect with those far away, but in the
process, disconnects themselves from others close with them. Technology has helped improve the
lives of many people through transportation and more, but overall has torn us apart. The constant
usage of technology has people's eyes glued to a small screen; they often forget to communicate
with those around them. Cell phones have developed over the years to become not only a way to
talk with others, but to have forms of entertainment, social media, and other means of

The urge to be connected has become more of an addiction than a form of convenient
communication; due to the amount of time people spend on technology. This causes a severe
disconnection with others around them. People spend more time looking at the "perfect" lives of
other celebrities, that they forget to enjoy what is around them. If people spend more time looking
up from their screens, they could make more friendships or companionships with other people.
Imagine all the possible conversations you missed because you were too busy talking to people
through a screen, instead of those around you. People often use their means of technology as a way
to distract them or avoid talking to others. Perhaps this is due to the social disconnect they have with
others around them. If people spend less time on technology, more connections with people would
form. You would have more time to do things you want to do, such as reading, exercise, or more.
Instead of connecting with people through technology, we should make connections with people
close to us the top priority. After years of being developed, technology–specifically and computers–
have been used too much, that they cause a disconnection instead of a connection. Technology has
its benefits, but in many cases, it is often unnecessary and a waste of time. People should spend less
time connecting through technology, and reconnect with those around

The Reflection Of Student Disconnection In The Class
Student disconnection is like a virus that spreads to everyone in the class, just one student with their
head down and you soon have a pandemic of uninterested children. It's vital to stop this
disengagement as soon as it appears to keep it localized to one student. Currently, I am the long–
term substitute for a High School Math II class featuring mostly tenth graders. At times it's difficult
to hold the attention of a room filled with snarky teenagers. I use a variety of techniques to keep my
students engaged drawling from high–quality instruction, classroom management skills, and our
teacher/student relationship. Every day the lesson plan for my class is fast paced and as exciting as
possible. The idea is to keep them busy the entire class to avoid disengagement. If we are moving at
a quick pace it's harder for students to zone out or they miss a ton of information. Next, I utilize
different types of materials to explain the topic of the day. I may start by giving notes and lecturing,
then move on to a video where the same idea is communicated more visually. Changing up
instruction methods seems to hold a student's attention better than if I simply drone on lecturing. I
also like to switch up activities, class may begin with a lecture for fifteen minutes, then move on to a

times I implant those by telling a joke or allowing a student to share a story. Classroom management

Emotional Disconnection Summary

  • 1. Emotional Disconnection Summary Maryann, Marci, and Joseph have a difficult time in treating the patients, due to the shortage of staff present, which results in the feeling of disconnection between the nurses in the hospital and the patients. It is observed that disconnection (as a result of stress) carries deep surface effects on the employee. According to Gallup.com, there three categories of work performance, they include the following: Engaged, disengaged, and actively disengaged (Rosenfeld, 2013). They assess the performance of the employee, and whether or not the employees are emotionally stable, thus, this factor in the effects of emotional disconnection on the quality of life for the employee. In the summary presented above, there can be clear evidence of disconnection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The nursing teams were excluded from connecting with the patients, due to societal and linguistic barriers. In contrast, social inclusion is where all members of society share a common goal in helping maintain a cohesive balance to society, while uplifting moral and behavioral conditions (Jonas, 2013). This was present in the beginning, where the compassionate and selfless behavior of the nursing team helped spur them to travel great lengths helping others in need. The rationale for the research findings, which connects to the situation summary, provides factual evidence and reasoning to provide an in–depth analysis. For the first rationale, this describes the indicators of work performance. Mentioned the concept of disconnectedness, as it is a main challenge that interconnects to stress in the workplace. This genuinely was present in the situation summary, thus there is attached pathos towards the development of the situation summary. The second research finding is the Missing Puzzle Effect, which describes the psychological reasoning behind social exclusion. If there is a slight perception that there will be negative loss or social repercussions, then there will be greater levels of hostility or social exclusion to maintain the current status. Thus, a feeling of empathy and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Evolution And Religion : The Disconnection Evolution and Religion: The Disconnection For years, theologians and scientists have debacled as to which theories could be categorized as correct as opposed to incorrect theologies. On a larger scale, these individuals debate the question of the universe's origin, as well as the origin of life itself. Some of the most contemplated questions theologians face are those that include thoughts regarding the creation of all living things. Whether or not all things that currently inhabit the world are derived from a single act that has yet to be defined, or if it perhaps the result of a combination of random, yet coinciding, events? The theory of Intelligent Design is perceived to be hold credible withstanding for approximately 50% of people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Young Earth believers also say that because of their beliefs, literal interpretation would lead people to believe that God is the Great Deceiver. Under this presumption, referring to God as the Great Deceiver, it means that God has lied or tried to test "us" as individual believers of the faith, with fossils situated in different layers in the crust and areas around the globe. While some would explain these tests evolution, Young Earth creationist expel this idea and consider those who follow Darwin's theory of evolution a failure to their faith in God's creation. As an accepted scientific theory, evolution is the change in allele frequency in a population over time. It is in my opinion, irrefutable to argue the ideology of Young Earth creationism. It is a readily accepted scientific fact that alleles, genes, undergo minute mutations from generation to generation directly depending on what organisms of that species lived; survival of the fittest. Otherwise known as Natural Selection, Survival of fittest is the idea that only the organisms best adapted to the ecosystem may survive. This process, defined by Charles Darwin, is said to be a main constituent effecting evolution. For example, if the ground and a mouse is white, it will most likely to be killed and or eaten based on the sole fact that it stands out against its darker counterparts. In continuation, if an animal of prey is slower than the rest of its pack, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Bell Jar Disconnection It is said that people cannot truly know themselves, but must rely on reflections in mirrors, photographs, and other people in their lives. Unable to see themselves as others see them, people often get confused and end up detaching themselves from reality. Author Sylvia Plath was a bright, young woman with an interest in poetry and writing. However, after the death of her father, she developed neurosis and attempted suicide for the first time using sleeping pills, but was unsuccessful. She uses her depression and suicidal tendencies as a foundation for her novel, published two weeks before her successful suicide. The Bell Jar highlights the concept of detachment through the main character, Esther, who feels a disconnection from herself. As she struggles to recognize herself and find a path for her future, she slowly descends into madness. Sylvia Plath in The Bell Jar creates the motifs of mirrors and magazines to convey the idea that individuals often have difficulty accepting themselves. Quite often, magazines glamorize real life and make reality distant from fact. This is especially true throughout The Bell Jar, starting as early as page 2 where the main character explains a ... Especially through the disease neurosis, which Esther had, she never connected her mirror image to her inner image, even when she seems to look "normal:" "Then my ears went funny, and I noticed a big, smudgy–eyed Chinese woman staring idiotically into my face. It was only me, of course, I was appalled to see how wrinkled and used up I looked" (Plath 18). Esther doesn't immediately recognize herself in an elevator reflection, which startles her and causes her to believe she is not alone in the elevator. Later in the novel, after her signs of depression have began to emerge, she starts to cry during a magazine photoshoot. Once she stops crying and attempts to apply makeup to her fatigued ... • 7. Analysis Of The Sound Of Silence In today's time, there is a multitude of ways in which people can talk to each other. Due to the development of various kinds of technology, such as cell phones, people have a much easier time with communication. Despite how easy modern society has made it to communicate with others, it seems as if people today are not at all focused on meaningful communication, causing disconnection amidst society. "The Sound of Silence", written by Paul Simon, explores the theme of disconnection between people, due to a lack of meaningful communication. Through use of figurative language, such as paradoxes, similes, and personification, "The Sound of Silence" scrutinizes the topic of meaningful communication, and what can happen when there is a lack of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third verse of the song is where the problem of disconnection becomes known "Ten thousand people, maybe more/People talking without speaking/People hearing without listening", (Lines 16– 18, Paul Simon). These lines show the main problem that the speaker encountered. A large group of people, all communicating, but not meaningfully whatsoever. The deeper meaning of "The Sound of Silence" helps articulate Paul Simon's message to listeners about life, i.e. the theme. "The Sound of Silence" has a theme that is relevant to people today. This theme is that one should always try and make meaningful communication with others. If one becomes too self–absorbed, a disconnection will occur. Meaningful communication is the key to advancing as a civilization. A line in the song which helps demonstrate Paul Simon's theme is found in the final verse: "The words of the prophets/Are written on the subway walls", (Lines 32 – 33, Paul Simon). These lines explain that words and ideas that were once important to humanity are now only seen alike graffiti, unimportant and a nuisance. If all the teachings that humanity has already learned are ignored, civilization will not advance. Civilization will rather fall back into the same mistakes it had already made, forever in a perpetual state of limbo; not moving forward due to disconnection and ignorance, both of which stemmed from communication problems. This message about life should not be ignored, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Going Clear Is Focused On The Church Of Scientology The documentary 'Going Clear' is focused on the Church of Scientology. Some of the important figures in the documentary included Paul Haggis, Lawrence Wright, Sara Goldberg, Spanky Taylor, and Marthy Rathbun (Going Clear). In this documentary, these former scientologists were interviewed about their personal experiences, where they revealed information about what actually happened behind the doors of the Church. The documentary was based on Lawrence Wright's book, 'Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood and the Prison of Belief' and was a compilation of the opinions of several former scientologists about the true colors of Scientology and Hubbard's history (Going Clear). Additionally, these figures shared their beliefs and opinions about Scientology. In this documentary, there are several effective persuasion techniques which all attempt to persuade the audience against Scientology. In my paper, I will be discussing these persuasion techniques and showing the different ways each former scientologist impacts the audience through their stories. One of the most prominent figures in this documentary was Paul Haggis. Paul is a writer and filmmaker whose former membership with the Church gives him distinct credibility (Science of Persuasion YouTube Video). His experiences grab the audience's attention, seeing as he was a scientologist for three years. Paul spoke out about his experiences with Scientology, calling it a "cult" and mentioning many disturbing aspects about the church ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Though health specialists assigned to Mrs. Muliaga had only given her 1–3 years of life, she had defied the odds and lived for over five years. When the news of Mercury Energy participation reached the public, the media become awash with accusations of how the state owned Mercury Energy victimizes its customers. Mercury Energy was accused on implementing capitalist principles in its operations. Capitalism in business means that a company is driven to make profits. Mercury Energy disconnected the Muliaga's power supply without determining the underlying issues that could have caused the delay in payment. Mercury Energy was accused of ethical misbehavior by failing to overlook their disconnection policy based on the patient's need for an operational oxygen machine. The executives and management of Mercury Energy also came off as contemptuous, having vehemently denied responsibility for the premature death of their customer. • 13. Emotional Connection Through Visual Disconnection In Jackie Emotional Connection Through Visual Disconnection in Jackie Directed by Pablo Larrain with Cinematographer, Stephane Fontaine, Jackie was a revolutionary film because it provided an alternate perspective of a story that has been told countless times before: the John F. Kennedy assassination. But rather than tell the story from the standpoint of the man who committed the crime, or the man who was the victim of it, Jackie tells the story of the woman who was perhaps the most affected by it, but whose voice is rarely the center of the discourse surrounding it. In doing so, the film provides its audience with a raw and at times, painful, glimpse into the life of Jackie Kennedy leading up to, and shortly after, the assassination of her husband. The deepest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During these scenes, Jackie is outwardly angry and depressed and the audience sees her processing her grief in a very overt visual manner. However, some of the most powerful depictions of Jackie's feelings occur during scenes where Jackie is simply the first lady and her husband is still alive. In these moments, we don't see grief but rather a different type of pain that is so repressed that it could not be expressed through her actions, so the filmmakers use framing, lighting, and other visual elements to convey her emotions. The scene when Jackie arrives in Dallas displays Jackie Kennedy's feelings of detachment that she experienced during the moments leading up to her husband's assassination. Within the scene, there are many moments where Jackie is facing completely away from the camera and all that is in the shot is the back of her head. As you can see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Disconnection And Alienation In St Patrick's College By... An author's personal experience gives authenticity to their text. Peter Skrzynecki, an Australian poet of Polish origin emigrated to Australia shortly before the end of World War II. His assimilation into his newfound homeland is portrayed in his emotive poetry, where he explores his disconnection and alienation. The way in which Skrzynecki writes about his personal experiences gives an authentic insight into the perspective of a migrant, allowing the audience to better understand the challenging emotions evoked by the migrant experience. These emotions are clearly seen in Skrzynecki's poem St Patrick's College, where he delves back through his experiences at school and highlights the disconnection and alienation he felt being a migrant. This disconnection is further expressed in Feliks Skrzynecki, where Skrzynecki alludes to his detachment from even his father. These feelings of disconnection and alienation shown by Skrzynecki in his poems, allows the audience to understand the effects of growing up as a migrant. The process of transitioning into a new context can put pressure on an individual to belong, leading to disconnection for the individual if they don't belong. Peter Skrzynecki was enrolled into a Catholic School after his family migrated from Europe to Australia. The effects of this change in context for Skrzynecki is portrayed in his poem St Patrick's College, where he gives authentic personal insight into the challenges faced by migrants growing up in a new ... Before a politicians is elected they want to give you a great sales pitch in order for you to vote for them. Now that they are placed were they want to be, some of those future plans that they told you they were going to do is gone. It's all a hustle, it's a part of the campaign process and it leads people right back in the same situation they were in before and after the person they voted for is gone. In the book, "The breach of Trust" it gave a quote from the Vietnam War that said "That late in the war, navigating between honor and dishonor, foolhardy courage and craven cowardice, necessary subordination and mindless obedience posed challenges. It was not a happy time or place to be an American soldier" (Pg. 8). Placing someone in a situation like that only leads to their death and not success. The literature search strategy focused on leadership barriers and organizational disconnections related to the marketing of potentially unsafe medical devices. Many qualitative studies were found in the NCU ProQuest, EBSCOhost databases, and Dissertation resources on organizational barriers and disconnection. The starting point of the literature review is the theory of quality management and the subsequent emergence of quality–related standards and regulations. Information sources for the proposed study included books on quality management theory obtained from the EBSCOHost database and peer–reviewed articles from the ProQuest database. The ProQuest keyword advance search for the key words was narrowed by requesting full text, peer reviewed and scholarly journal articles in the last three years. Furthermore, the search phrases included variations of the key problem statement words disconnection, misalignment and process management. The articles returned and chosen were those that included information about leadership process disconnections, misalignment, and disconnected processes related to quality and medical devices The purpose of this qualitative, multiple–case study is to investigate leadership barriers and organizational process disconnections that have led to the marketing of potentially unsafe medical devices. Many qualitative studies (e.g., Iden, 2012, Oakland, 2011, Obeidat et al., 2014, Pater, 2013, Raeesi et, al., 2013, Rising et al. 2012, Seethamraju, 2012, Suckley et al., 2013; Storbacka, 2012, Talib et al., 2011; Tucker et al., 2013) have been conducted on organizational barriers and disconnection. However, no studies were located related to the marketing of potentially unsafe medical devices. In the proposed study, factors that influence or hinder the manufacture of safe and effective medical devices will be identified and explored. • 21. The Impact Of Digital Technology On Society With new technical breakthroughs happening every minute, technology is advancing far beyond our imagination. The internet has become increasingly accessible with new smartphones and smart devices, and with them came new social media applications. Social media has now become a large factor in the lives of many people across the globe as a means of finding and distributing information. People spend more and more time on the internet, and less time having face to face human interactions. Instead of human interactions and networking, popularity and social status is now based on friends on Facebook, followers on Twitter, and Instagram "likes". The lack of meaningful social interactions has caused an increase in mental health issues such as social anxiety and depression, and adversely impacts human society. Digital technology negatively affects happiness because it causes loneliness, mental illness and a disconnection from the real world. Social platforms negatively affect happiness because it causes loneliness. As social media becomes more pronounced in our daily lives, the further apart we grow from each other physically and the closer we become on the internet. A person might have 2,000 friends on Facebook but in reality has no "real" friends to connect with on a more personal level. For the purposes of confidentiality, I will refer to the individuals as member X and member Y. Member X was asked by the group leader to elaborate on a feeling by using one word. Although done in a caring way, member X was not able to completely grasp the request without storytelling. For the purposes of achieving more congruency in expression, the group leader used caring confrontation. Connections and Disconnections through Silence in Jennifer Egan's A Visit from the Goon Squad by Student 6 Dr. Joanne Horwood English 1100–02 April 6, 2018 Jennifer Egan's novel, A Visit from the Goon Squad, presents and implies various moments of silence throughout its chapters. Silence reinforces tensions between characters of opposing interests, establishes recognition of a character's harsh reality or bridges a gap between some characters like a father and a son. Sarah Churchwell describes the novel as "a book about memory and kinship, time and narrative, continuity and disconnection, in which relationships shift and recombine kaleidoscopically" (par 1). • 31. Relationship Between Child Support And Child Relationship Parent to Child Relationship Analyzed by Child Support and Disconnection I am writing about the topic of how child support can affect the relationship a parent feels towards their child. In a sense that it can make the parent feel as if the child is an expense. As something they have to constantly keep up with like a phone bill or water bill. I chose this topic because I feel that there is a disconnection between parents that are required to pay child support toward their child. Those parents paying child support in most instances are only allowed to see their child for a certain period of time. That being a weekend or every other weekend. If not at all in the most extreme cases. This disconnection in turn can lead to a broken relationship between the parent and the child. The parent is seen as a negative figure by the child whereas the parent sees the child as an expense. Which can lead to other negative impacts between the family. The parent with full custody or majority custody is a better able to raise the child and instill negative feelings about the other parent into the child. What is significant and interesting about this particular field of inquiry that this is constantly happening in modern time. As seen through high levels of divorce, custody battles, and parents that are required to pay child support on a monthly basis. At times the other parent with majority custody can even be better off as they are receiving another check while the parent required to pay child support is at times struggling to get by. Needless to say that the parent required to pay child support is at fault and put themselves in the situation in the first place. The challenges I expect to face while researching are unscholarly resources in which frustrated parents post on online websites. Even though these experiences may be first hand insights they are most likely posted to unscholarly websites which cannot be used for this essay. A possible thesis is, child support leads to a broken relationship between a parent and a child with the cause of future disconnection. The Disconnection Between Aurora And Felicia The character most important to me is Felicia, Aurora's mom, because she is like "the earth" that tries to convince Aurora that Echo Park is part of her life, because it's their home. In chapter 2, the disconnection between Aurora and Felicia originates with the death of Alma. Alma dies, when it was supposed to be Aurora the one that should have died. The only thing that saved her was not following Felicia's orders, so she moved and didn't receive the bullet that killed Alma. After this event, Aurora starts to not follow her mom's orders and ends up leaving Echo Park, their home, and her mom. In chapter 8, the connection that is developed between her and Aurora shows that Aurora could come back to Echo Park. Felicia's decision of giving her dog, Blackjack, to Aurora and making her accept that it is her dog now, represents her accepting that Echo Park is her home. Through this act, Felicia's intentions of making Aurora realize that Echo Park is part of her identity and her home is proven. Therefore, when the dog escapes and gets lost, she sends Aurora to find it as if she sends her to realize that Echo Park is her home. Through her journey of finding the dog, Aurora finds herself learning what Echo Park has become from what she remembers. This shows that Felicia is "the earth" because she never left Echo Park and she wanted her daughter to not leave it either. She wanted Aurora to not forget where her real home is, which identifies her and makes her part of Echo Park too. I think Felicia's character is important to the novel and the realization of Aurora towards Echo Park being her home. I believe we need to remember from where we come and be proud of our roots because that is what identifies us and makes us unique. It is not wrong to want to succeed in life like Aurora wanted to, but we also need to know and accept ourselves, which includes our background and history. • 42. Morals And Values In Everyday Use By Alice Walker Historically, values and beliefs are ascribed to people depending on their family's heritage. Most religious people are religious because they were brought up in a home that believed in a particular religion. There are some scholars that have been taught by the best schools and teachers due to their family having a grand educational background. Even though all individuals are different in their own right, a family normally holds the same beliefs and values as one another. Morals and values are traditionally passed down through generations, however, there are situations where social influences can play a role in deciding a person's principals. Family members that are influenced by society rather than their families can easily become the outliers of the bunch. In "Everyday Use", Alice Walker demonstrates how social differences such as religion, education, and status between family members can cause a disconnection within the family. Dee's social change in religion causes a disconnection between the family. Walker makes it evident in the story that Mama is a Christian when she describes a feeling that she has "like when I'm in church and the spirit of God touches me..." (499). One could assume that both Dee and Maggie were brought up as Christians along with Mama. On her visit back home, Dee tells her mother to call her Wangero instead of Dee and uses terms such as Wa–su–zo–Tean–o and Asalamalakum which signifies that she has adopted the Muslim religion. She also brings a friend along with her who has adopted the Muslim religion as well. The story portrays Mama to seem as though she has no interest in Dee's new name, and David Cowart explains this by stating "She [Mama] tries to have it both ways, referring to her daughter now by one name, now by the other, now by parenthetically hybridized combinations of both" (171). Mama named Dee after a family member, so when Dee changed her name to something else, a disconnection between her and the family arose. Another social difference Walker uses to illustrate a disconnection within the family is education. Mama only has second–grade education due to her school burning down and never getting rebuilt. Mama explains how Maggie has a hard time reading and "knows ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Social media causes a disconnection between the young children and the older generation, distraction from our love ones, and the short term gratification from the tweets, likes, shares, etc. Disconnection leads to the effect of distraction. Lack of communication is an example of disconnection from the world around us. Many examples can describe distraction from others. Today, short term gratification seems to be more of what the generations want. Additionally, social media leads to the effect of disconnection from younger people to the older generation. People want to text other people instead of calling them. This leads to the lack of communication between the generations. The younger generation does not understand the effect of communication. The language has changed as well. Generations in today's time use the "slang" terms instead of the older dialect the elder people use. A disconnection is lost between the child and their love ones. A Study On Eating Pathology Among Latinas Essay THEORETICAL PROPOSITIONS There is a lack of studies that investigate the eating pathology among Latinas even though there is evidence that a binge eating component (i.e. binge eating disorder, bulimia nervosa) is more prevalent among Latinas compared with other races. For those who are engaged in binge eating tend to have unrealistic high expectations for themselves, which often are difficult to achieve. When the individual, in this case a Latina, has fallen short of these high expectations, they experience negative affect from which she is motivated to binge eat. Dr. Neyland proposed that stressful experiences across three domains of interest: individual, family, and environment. The independent variable of acculturative stress (individual level) is defined as the stress and reduction in health status that one experiences while going under the process of adapting to a different culture. Then for family, there is family disconnection, which is not unique to Latinas but there is a strong emphasis that Latinas place on family relationships. They value it so much that if they experience family disconnection, they would likely be experienced as failure to meet cultural standards. And lastly, there is the environmental factor which is discrimination. Among Latina/os, there is a large amount of reports of discrimination which is believed to have impacted many to have lower self–esteem and a significantly slower growth in self–esteem over time. Alice Walker successfully shows the disconnection by comparing two ends of the spectrum of generation. Taking the historical context it plays a major role in the way this short story is viewed. When the narrator was talking about having an education it was important because she wanted to be on a television show her success and how far she went. No, said Wangero (Dee) I don't want those" (Walker 292). Dee wanted the quilts to have them hanging on the wall at her house to show her heritage and her culture. In that short section it showed the difference of wanting to use the quilt as an everyday item as some form of art to make a statement of showing how proud she was her heritage during a time where colored people were oppressed. In the end of the story when Dee leaves after the argument and has a dramatic exit while, her mother and Maggie just sit outside until bedtime, which showed the difference of the older generation and new. Acceptance In Peter Skrzynecki's Immigrant Chronicle An individual's feeling of acceptance is directly affected by their sense of belonging in the world, through coming to terms upon where they truly do and do not belong. This sense of acceptance is heavily reliant on an individual's attitude and experiences, as it revolves around where they seem to belong in a society, culture, or environment, and their realization of place in the world. This relationship between belonging and a sense of acceptance is explored through Peter Skrzynecki's 'Immigrant Chronicle'– a series of poems published in 1975 depicting the struggle of an immigrant family establishing themselves in post WWII Australia. This cultivated sense of alienation, due to disconnection and displacement, is solemnly conveyed throughout Peter Skrzynecki's poem 'St Patrick's College', as the poet struggles to find connections emotionally, spiritually, or physically to the prestigious school he attends, evidently due to having no place in that particular environment. The knowledge gathered and discussed in this document could possibly be applied to our organization and the new project. This document will outline disconnection in workplace communication, leadership styles in a workplace, huddles and debriefings, emails and Instant message in a workplace, and motivation of employees. Many employees see themselves as disconnected from workplace communication. In a recent report done by Gallup, a research and performance–management consulting company, "74 percent of employees feel they are detached from receiving important information from their companies" (Dynamic Signal, 2017). The study also found that employees were not using their intranet within the company, but the vast majority of employees do own and use their smartphones regularly. Communication budgets are also stagnating and this might be due to an absence of understanding the importance of superior internal communication in boosting productivity and profits. Many businesses are unaware that poor internal communication and lack of information for employees is costing them money. Email is prevalent form of technological communication, but instant messaging and texting is a growing form of communication in many workplaces. • 60. Wild Cat Falling Belonging Analysis "How are Australian identity and culture represented in the texts you have studied?" While some texts choose to represent the Australian landscape as being harsh and untamed, others appear to present them in a more positive fashion. However, when we get to the heart of each text, it's context and purpose we find a common theme of connection with the land within them. In this analysis I will be using Wild Cat Falling by Mudrooroo, My Country by Dorothea Mackellar and The Drovers Wife by Henry Lawson. Wild Cat falling represents the main character as having a disconnection with the Australian landscape, which leads to him having an identity crisis, not knowing where he belongs. My Country represents the authors connection with the bush landscape, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this text the main character feels detached form the bush landscape and drawn to the city landscape, particularly the university, but even there he struggles to belong. On page 92 the main charter quotes "I believe in nothing it nobody, there is no refuge or comfort for me anywhere". This sentance uses emotive language of hopelessness and disconnection to get the reader to respond on an emotional level and the readers emotional response from that positions them to share the writers viewpoint. This technique is used in this text to convey the sense of rejection of his traditional connection to the landscape that he refuses to believe that he has. The effect on the audience is that we feel a strange disconnection with the Australian landscape and a feeling that we don't belong. On page 30 the main character quotes "on clear nights I could see the water alight under the space travelling moon and I would feel detached from life". This statement is used to show that the main character has this feeling of detachment with his traditional homeland. The effect of this is that we feel an atmosphere of regret and sadness, that something that sounds so great he feels rejected by and detached from. • 62. Separation And Disconnection Toward My Asian Heritage I was adopted from China when I was fifteen months old. Since then I have been living with a loving Italian family, but the two cultures I've been surrounded with since birth couldn't be any more different. As I grew up I struggled with feelings of separation and disconnection toward my Asian heritage as well as my parent's Italian culture, and I never felt truly immersed in one or the other, no matter how much I tried to fit in. For a long time, I harbored feelings of loneliness and felt like I didn't belong, until I found nursing. Nursing didn't care who I was, it didn't care about the color of my skin, where I came from, or how I grew up. Nursing only cared about who I wanted to be, and who I was going to become moving forward. There is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 64. The Importance Of Social Disconnection And Alienation Our society should be aware of social disconnection and alienation due to the increase of technological advances. How do technological advances lead to disconnection and alienation? People can feel disconnected from reality, from themselves, or from other people. They physically alienate themselves willingly by withdrawing from a source that can be a cause of pain or discomfort; such as bullying, disagreements, past relations, family or work issues. Maria Furukawa states that "Advancements, particularly in handheld devices, such as smartphones, iPads, and smart–watches, have made our lives more efficient by making everything we need accessible at the tap of a screen or a swipe to the left. Essentially, technology has taken the "hard work" of talking to someone in person, of physically reading a book and of using our minds to do some mental math and replaced it with a device. I have noticed that technology, ironically, disconnects us from living in the present moment. Even though we try our hardest to communicate what we mean over text, there is still a possibility for miscommunication or misinterpretation of what was written. If instead, a conversation was held in person, facial expressions, changes in tone, and hand gestures are some ways that miscommunication can be avoided." (Furukawa 2017) People can create a virtual world by using these devices with the increase of screen time and internet usage. They are subjected to advertisements, unrealistic standards, online bullying and constant access to negative information. In this virtual world, there are numerous sites for social networking. In this case, people do not need to physically interact with one another and can espouse any persona to their present need. Dwight G. Dean, in his article, explains that "The concept of Alienation is considered here as having three major components: Powerlessness, Normlessness, and Social Isolation." (Dean 1961) Humans by nature need interaction with other humans. It's a biological necessity. Hawkley states that "As a social species, humans rely on a safe, secure social surround to survive and thrive. Perceptions of social isolation, or loneliness, increase vigilance for threat and heighten feelings of vulnerability ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 66. Disconnection Essay When people are feeling down or there is something wrong with them they tend to disconnect from the world and go into one of their own. In this place they find comfort and safety and it is somewhere that no one can bother them for the time being. I myself find comfort just lying in my bed staring at the ceiling and drifting off in thought. For artists though, they are able to find this comforting place in music. Blink 182, Linkin Park, and NAS are some of the famous artists that are able to disconnect from the world through their songs. They are able to get all of there thoughts out through music and the world has a chance to hear them. In NAS' song "Hate me Now" he feels disconnected because there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this lyric from there song "In the end" they are explaining to us what they think life is all about. They tell us that no matter what you do in life, no matter how far you go and succeed, it just doesn't matter when you die because God doesn't care about it. All God cares about is you as a person and that is what he is going to judge you on in the end. The group became disconnected from the world in order to think of this song. They must have spent a lot of time gathering there thoughts and opinions to come up with the lyrics and verses. The best example of feeling disconnected come from the lyrics of Blink 182's "Adam's song". This song was written by the drummer of the band to express how life was on tour. "The tour was over we'd survived I couldn't wait till I got home to pass the time in my room alone". All the drummer wants to do is go home to lie in his bed and disconnect from the world. He had been on tour for months entertaining people and he never had anytime for himself so all he wanted to do was be alone and not have to make anyone but himself happy. Song writers are excellent on expressing their feeling os disconnection from he world because they usually never have anytime to be themselves so they express is through song. I think that everyone needs time to disconnect in one way or another. It gives you time to be by yourself and think about things that are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 68. Disconnection In Society There are seasons in life in which people can feel disconnected from their surrounding worlds. Although this feeling of disconnection can be difficult to isolate and define, it usually manifests itself in any number of areas to include society, a circle of friends or acquaintances, family, and even from oneself. Disconnection can be evidenced most vividly in the inability of a person to assimilate to his surroundings and as a result he or she acts irregularly; apart from his or her normal and true self. It can ultimately lead to confusion and a perpetual search for identity. Disconnection is often thought to be the byproduct of one's surroundings and the circumstances in which he or she lives; in free societies however, such as the United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In "Ingroup and Outgroup," by Myers, he writes about how different groups of people display bias towards other groups. Whether this is a conscience and deliberate behavior or not, it shows how people can feel disconnected from certain groups of people. A common problem that many individuals experience, especially during the younger years of a person, is that one may feel as if they do not fit in with a certain group of people; he or she is not part of the "ingroup" (Myers 99– 100). Because of this, the individual feels disconnected. The problem with this scenario, however, is that just because the individual does not fit in with a certain group, does not mean he or she is completely disconnected. The individual may feel as if he or she is utterly disconnected from the surrounding world, but in reality, there is so much more that is being missed. Once again, the choice is up to the individual. The individual could remain feeling disconnected, or instead, he or she could make the decision to take a step forward and find where he or she can fit in and feel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 72. Technology And Social Disconnection From Everyday Life "Not a wired culture, but a virtual cultural that is wired shut: compulsively fixated on digital technology as a source of salvation from the reality of a lonely culture and radical social disconnection from everyday life" (Doheny–Farina, 1996). The mobile telephone has been the most rapidly disseminated piece of technology in world history. The first commercially available mobile devices were available in the 1980's, and since then have expanded exponentially. In 1994, Finland was the world leader in terms of mobile subscribers with ten–percent of the population being hooked on a mobile contract (Wirzenius, n.d.). Over the past twenty years, these numbers have increased beyond one 's imagination. As of January 2014, ninety percent of American adults own a cell phone and over half of those own a smartphone (Pew Research Center 's Internet & American Life Project, 2014). These numbers will only increase with time as in a survey conducted by Pew Internet (2014) ninety–eight percent of adults between the ages of eighteen to twenty–nine own mobile devices with numbers decreasing slightly as the population aged. As our culture begins to shift more into the digital revolution age we find ourselves losing vital communication skills in person–to–person contact. • 74. Symbolism And Symbolism In Sylvia Plath's Tulips Sylvia Plath's "Tulips" explores the idea of disconnecting oneself from life, only to remember their responsibilities in life. The speaker in the poem is in a hospital room, separate from her family. No one is present in the white hospital room, except for the speaker and the tulips. The room is peaceful and allows the speaker to enjoy a lack of commitment towards anything. Unfortunately for the speaker, the tulips in the room remind her of her life and bind the speaker to her prior commitments. Color symbolism and personification contrast the peace of disconnection and obligations in life. Color symbolism of the white hospital room and the red tulips juxtapose the peacefulness of the speaker's temporary freedom from responsibility and the harsh reality of life. For instance, the hospital room which the speaker resides in is white. The speaker draws attention to this, stating "Look how white everything is" as "the light lies on these white walls" (Plath 2, 4). White is traditionally symbolic of purity and peace. The hospital, with its white walls, is wholesome and calming, emphasizing the peacefulness of freedom. Clashing with the white hospital room are the vividly red tulips in the room. The tulips are a harsh red color, typically associated with pain, that threatens the speaker and is uncomfortable. The disdain for the tulips is evident, as the "tulips are too red in the first place" and "they hurt" the speaker (36). The red tulips evoke pain as they are juxtaposed with the calmness of the white room. The vividly red tulips are striking against the white walls of the hospital, as they revoke the peacefulness of the speaker's surroundings. Furthermore, the redness of the tulips reminds the speaker of their prior commitments. The tulips are more than just flowers, for they upset the speaker "with their sudden tongues and their color" and serve as a "dozen red lead sinkers round my neck." (41, 42). The tulips bring the speaker back to reality as they drag her down. The white hospital room serves as a safe–haven from responsibility, while the tulips present in the room remind the speaker of her obligations in life. The color symbolism of the white hospital room and the red tulips juxtapose the peacefulness of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 76. Technology A Disconnection Opinion Piece – Technology: A Disconnection Over the past few years, technology has become a significant part of people's every day lives. It helps people connect with those far away, but in the process, disconnects themselves from others close with them. Technology has helped improve the lives of many people through transportation and more, but overall has torn us apart. The constant usage of technology has people's eyes glued to a small screen; they often forget to communicate with those around them. Cell phones have developed over the years to become not only a way to talk with others, but to have forms of entertainment, social media, and other means of communication. Many people today only rely on their phones or computers, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The urge to be connected has become more of an addiction than a form of convenient communication; due to the amount of time people spend on technology. This causes a severe disconnection with others around them. People spend more time looking at the "perfect" lives of other celebrities, that they forget to enjoy what is around them. If people spend more time looking up from their screens, they could make more friendships or companionships with other people. Imagine all the possible conversations you missed because you were too busy talking to people through a screen, instead of those around you. People often use their means of technology as a way to distract them or avoid talking to others. Perhaps this is due to the social disconnect they have with others around them. If people spend less time on technology, more connections with people would form. You would have more time to do things you want to do, such as reading, exercise, or more. Instead of connecting with people through technology, we should make connections with people close to us the top priority. After years of being developed, technology–specifically and computers– have been used too much, that they cause a disconnection instead of a connection. Technology has its benefits, but in many cases, it is often unnecessary and a waste of time. People should spend less time connecting through technology, and reconnect with those around ... • 78. The Reflection Of Student Disconnection In The Class Student disconnection is like a virus that spreads to everyone in the class, just one student with their head down and you soon have a pandemic of uninterested children. It's vital to stop this disengagement as soon as it appears to keep it localized to one student. Currently, I am the long– term substitute for a High School Math II class featuring mostly tenth graders. At times it's difficult to hold the attention of a room filled with snarky teenagers. I use a variety of techniques to keep my students engaged drawling from high–quality instruction, classroom management skills, and our teacher/student relationship. Every day the lesson plan for my class is fast paced and as exciting as possible. The idea is to keep them busy the entire class to avoid disengagement. If we are moving at a quick pace it's harder for students to zone out or they miss a ton of information. Next, I utilize different types of materials to explain the topic of the day. I may start by giving notes and lecturing, then move on to a video where the same idea is communicated more visually. Changing up instruction methods seems to hold a student's attention better than if I simply drone on lecturing. I also like to switch up activities, class may begin with a lecture for fifteen minutes, then move on to a worksheet or some online learning. Changing activities provide a natural brain break, although at times I implant those by telling a joke or allowing a student to share a story. Classroom management ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
