Moodboard Presentation
1. Mood board Presentation
In this PowerPoint I have found images
similar to the style I would like in my video
and explained why I would want them.
2. Titles
Here are some screenshots of titles in other physiological thriller trailers that I found to help give me
an idea how I should present mine. These titles are all dark with lighting and shadows used strongly.
The Font colour is white in all of them and it gives an impression that something strange has lit them
up. Three of them use colour but not very much. The Dark Mirror and Rendition have blue and green
in the backgrounds making them stand out from the others – this is something I could consider. The
Sorority Row title has a stripe of red underlining it which gives it a scarier feel as red represents anger
and – especially in horror films – blood. I think this makes it really effective as a title as it catches the
eye and stands out. The font used in most of the titles has an old feel to it which is effective in this
genre as the older things are the more scary they seem.
3. Location styles
Here are some images of locations that are similar to the ones I will use. They are all pretty simple and
easy to find. The busy street Isn’t shown in the angle I would use it but the amount of people and
directions they are going in is perfect for one scene in my trailer. The Cornfield is exactly how I want my
location to look – at this time of year, there wont be corn in the field and it will give a lonely empty feel
to the scene as it will be a large field. The dark street is simple again and doesn’t have to be a specific
place. A street at night with houses on either side of the road and streetlamps is perfect for my ‘running’
scene. The chalk outline I want to be just on a wide pavement in a realistic body position. The lighting in
this scene could work any way I think as if it is in bright sunlight it will make the scene scarier showing
things still happen in the light, whilst if it is slightly dark and cloudy it will fit into the mood.
4. ‘Look’ of Actor
I’ve found a few images on the internet of actors which I think have the right kind of look for my trailer.
They all look quite threatening by expression or by features. I particularly like the look of Jack O’Connell
in the bottom right image because he is the right age; is wearing the right style of clothes and looks quite
intimidating. I want my lead to be a young male, in his late teens. I want him to have fairly short hair
with facial piercings – I’m playing on the masculine ‘gangster’ stereotype as much as possible. I want to
be able to show a real change in character – from an aggressive man to a terrified boy.
