2. “Memoirs of Eric Heider”
This initial shot does not reveal too much about the characters
involved. The object in shot shows what the character was doing and
the one specific time. We do not even see who the character is and so
are yet to discover more. Also the camera angle used looks up at the
character. The colours of the mug and the costume are dark and so
(mise-en-scene) create a dank atmosphere.
3. This camera shot is taken from the ground so we look up the character in this
shot. This particular shot is a very low angle, perspective shot as we see all of the
character whilst viewing what is in the background showing us exactly where
this scene is taking place. As an audience, we feel rather inferior I comparison to
Eric in this scene. Due to the camera angle he is giver the most authority in this
scene giving him the most focus in this scene, despite there being a large house in
the background to steal it. Also, the way in which Eric briskly walks past and
over the camera conveys the idea that he has no time for anyone and is focused
in what he is doing. It does suggest a slight arrogance to his character.
4. From this still, which appears to be taking place in some sort of ‘front office
room’ we see the main character sat in silence, almost reminiscing of his past
decision and experiences. We can clearly see from his costume that he is wearing
an armband with a logo on it, which is not too dissimilar from the Nazi bands
war during the war, and this makes clear reference to that type of behaviour and
group. The fact that there is the English flag in the background portray his
patriotism towards his country and perhaps he is part of some group that
supports them. The low level of light in the foreground of the still shows that
perhaps this gentleman has a dark side and wishes to show it however light is
shining through from the window of the left of Eric perhaps showing his
development of evil characteristics to those of more pleasant ones.
5. Due to the way in which the camera is angled at this
piece of papers, we see the great importance of it in
particular. The fence in the background could make
reference to how someone may be trapped. Whether it
be the thoughts of Eric himself of someone he has
secured in a certain place.
