• On 28th January 2014, the philosophy of SLOW FOOD was introduced in
Panevezys women’s penitentiary.
• The idea of Slow Food which has gained a worldwide recognition was told by
Dainius Juozaitis, director of the association ‘SLOW FOOD VILNIUS’, as well as
farmer Žilvinas Žurauskas.

• The event seemed to be extremely thrilling to the participants as most of them
have never heard about anything similar before.
• Slow Food advocates shared the fundamental principles of their movement,
talked about food making, eating and enjoying traditions, the importance of
biodiversity.
• They also showed an interesting film about the international food association
‘Terra Madre’.

PROJECT LOGO DESIGN COMPETITION
METHODOLOGY USED
FOR CREATING A LOGO:
• What is a logo?
• Logo design requirements.
• List of logo design great examples.
• The competition to choose the best logo, created by the inmates of the
Panevezys Correction House, was launched.
• The inmates were encouraged to join a competition and to win a great
prize!

‘LITHUANIAN APPLE DAY’
• The event began with the competition – prisoners were
encouraged to remember as many different kinds of apples
as possible.
• The significance of apples in Lithuanian folklore and
folk medicine was discussed.
• Plenty of information about the appropriate conditions for
apple trees to grow successfully was being presented.
8. • The tasting of apples left everyone satisfied.
A farmer Rimantas Urbonavičius provided the
participants with ten different types of apples.
• In the end, the best kind of apple was chosen: it was generally agreed
that ‘Lygol’ should be ranked first.

• During the non-traditional workshop ‘To the origins of taste’ imprisoned women were
given a fantastic opportunity to get lots of useful information about tastes and senses of
people.
•The film about tastes and senses was demonstrated by the representatives of ‘Slow
Food Vilnius’.
• Women willingly participated in active games during which they could develop their
creativity, understanding about food, try to recognise different tastes, smells, cooking
noises and even learn basic tasting vocabulary.
• Probably the most exciting part of the event was
tasting of apples and chocolate.
The tastiest apples and chocolate were selected.

WORKSHOP
‘GET MY WINDOWSILL GREEN!’
• The inmates were taught to grow micro-sized greens on their
windowsills.
• They were growing and harvesting small batches of micro-sized
greens on their windowsills as a way to keep some salad fixings
coming through the dark and cold days of early spring.

COMPETITION ‘BEST EASTER RECIPE’
• The competition ‘BEST EASTER RECIPE’ was launched;
• Prisoners were encouraged not only to find Easter recipes, but also to
provide recipe illustrations.
• The results of this competition will be presented in the Panevezys
Correction House.
• THE WINNERS OF THE COMPETITION ARE NOT ANNOUNCED YET.

WORKSHOP ON FOREST GARDENING
• The participants of this workshop were informed about the method of forest gardening (the
art and science of growing plants in patterns that support mutually beneficial relationships
which create a garden that takes its vision from nature and the natural ecology of a young
forest).
• The inmates were given an opportunity to create beautiful, high-yield and diverse garden
that is largely self-maintaining (they will grow vegetable, herbs, and other useful plants
there).
14. • The goal of forest gardening in Panevezys Correction House is not only the
production of crops, but also the cultivation and perfection of new ways of seeing,
of thinking, and acting in the world.
