Today, computers process the sound before it reaches the amp to your ears. But, you don't have any
of those things to help you. So, your choice in string can make a major difference in the sound you
make while you are playing. Gold, Silver, Brass, and Alloy strings all have different acoustical
signatures. You can even use nylon, natural fibers, and steel to get just the right sound you are
looking for.
Consideration #4: Shape and properties of the acoustical cavity of the guitar
Resonance and echo take place inside the box of the guitar. From here you get the rich sounds that
melt hearts and inflame the emotions. Listen to the sounds that come out of the guitar you are
thinking of buying to see what you feel when you strum a few chords. Your ear will be your best
friend in this endeavor. Remember these properties are why a Stradivarius violin is worth a million
or more dollars. You want the best sound you can get from your guitar as well.
Consideration #5: The material and anchoring of the

Difference Between The Oud And The Oud
The ancestor of the guitar, the oud, has not evolved into the guitar but only inspired its creation and
together became two popular instruments used in various parts of the world. The guitar is mostly
associated with western countries while the oud has been traditionally used in the Spanish and Arab
countries.
Classified as string instruments both the guitar and the oud have a few similarities. To be held and
played in the same way their physical appearance resembles one another in terms of shape, materials
and the use of strings to produce their acoustic sound. The wooden neck on both guitars allows one
to play by plucking the strings attached and transmitting the energy from the strings vibration into
the air producing sound.

One of the oldest instruments known to man, the Oud is living proof that even the most ancient of
objects can be brought to life by a modern touch. The Oud is one of the oldest musical instruments
known to man. However, the legacy of the Oud, unlike that of many other ancient traditions,
continues till today. The earliest proof of the existence of an instrument like the Oud can be found in
an excavated cylindrical seal from the Uruk Period in Mesopotamia, which dates back almost 5000
years.
Since then, the Oud has been revered as the 'King of Instruments,' telling the stories of its time
through its melodious music. Even today, the beautiful sounds of the Oud have the power to
transport the listener to another time. History is full of stories about the Oud. According to Abu Nasr
Muhammad Ibn Muhammad Al Farabi, the 10th century Islamic scholar and philosopher, Lamech,
the sixth grandson of Adam, invented the Oud. Legend has it that, overcome by grief at the death of
his son, Lamech hung his body from a tree. The first ever Oud was thus inspired by the shape of the
skeleton on the

Music has always been my large part of my life. As a listener, I am able to empathize with emotion
and artistic expressions to further understand and connect my own emotions. However, it wasn't
until I received my first guitar that I uncovered the transcendental, transformative, and magical
idiosyncrasies of music. These qualities have been seamlessly spent with endless hours of
unrelenting practice mixed with boundless creativity. Music has a way of capturing not only my
emotions, but also my imagination. The effort and time I have invested into it has allowed me to
create compositions and improvisations that alleviate my anxieties while daily enriching my life.
Despite this devout passion for music, my first experiences with a guitar ... Show more content on

This immediately altered my previous instructional methods that proved slow and inefficient. I was
learning songs via tablature and video lessons but lacked the core understanding of music theory and
what it represents. Without essential music theory knowledge I was at a disadvantage because I
could only learn songs with tablatures available (which is not that many), or I could only learn
through tablature, therefore I would not be unable to compose the type of music I wanted because I
lacked the natural ability to create consonant melodies. After a friend showed me a basic outline of
what music theory encompasses, I applied it to my compositions and instantly heard and felt
improvement in the quality of my instrumentation.
Music theory is language with rules and standards that can be innovated and reinvented. By having
an understanding of which notes and chords are consonant and dissonant, I produced better melodies
and I heard in my mind the timbre I wanted. I quickly became fascinated by all the patterns and
idiosyncrasies that exist in modern music and began to emulate sounds and techniques of my
favorite musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, and Eric Clapton. The notes, the harmonies,
the melodies I produced finally began to progress. I became musically self–sufficient, capable of

The Most Common Theme Of Classic Country
In researching classic country there are many themes that can be found in the performances. The
most common theme is almost every classic country artist had an acoustic guitar. They would use
this guitar as essentially the main melody for their songs which they would then add vocals on top
of. Then every once and a while other string instruments or drums would be added to the songs.
However, there was never any electronic instruments added to classic country music (Aaron Lewis).
Another theme in classic country performances are the outfits the artists wear. Almost every artist I
researched had on a cowboy hat, cowboy boots, jeans, and a flannel jacket (Aaron Lewis). This
hillbilly style look is one of classic countries most signature identities. Along with the look of the
artists the farming/country land feel has become very integrated in the music itself. The classic
country arts constantly sing about life on a farm, the mountains around them, or their truck that they
drive (Aaron Lewis). In simpler terms country music tends to approach more social, cultural and
regional issues than other music. This is one of the reasons country became so popular initially is
because it is so personal. In addition to these themes the venues also share certain characteristics. In
classic country the focus is more on the lyrics and telling a story. Therefore, in the performances
there is very little lighting effects and added stage props. Usually all a stage will consist of is the

Development of Musical Instruments
Throughout history, music has been influenced by the different events that transpire across the
world. As civilizations rise and fall, cultures combine and change; and with that, new music and
musical instruments are brought into existence. From each corner of the world and from all time
periods, music has grown. The places that music has dramatically developed the most are in China,
Europe, and America. Musical instruments in these locations have gone through a musical
"revolution" and have eventually become what we know so well today. China One of the earliest
locations that musical instruments were created and developed was China. Many of the instruments
during this period (500 – 1100 A.D.) that were being made were classified as zithers of idiophones.
Zithers are very similar to guitars since both share the quality of having strings, but do not have a
"neck." Idiophones are instruments where the body itself vibrates to create the sound much like
modern day percussion instruments. These types of instruments were brought into being by the
beliefs and teachings of people like Confucius, Mencius, and Laozi. These men "believed that music
was an essential part of character and community" and helped the creation of new instruments (1).
Many different styles of instruments came out of this time period. Instruments such as the Guqin,
Xiao flute, Sanxian, and Pipa were all created and modified with the rise of a style of music–
Nanguan. Nanguan was "a style of Chinese classical

The Body Of The Ibanez Rg350dx
Ibanez, as a brand, is known for often being able to surpass many other lines in both quality and
overall value. Since the company itself is founded and based in Japan, there is often lower prices for
manufacturing. With this advantage, Ibanez can produce some very high quality instruments at
prices that won 't break the bank. One example of these guitars is the Ibanez RG350DX. Let 's take a
closer to see if it lives it up to Ibanez 's trademark value. Features: The body of the Ibanez
RG350DX is, like most of its mid range instruments, made of basswood. It is the same wood used
on many Fender products, and gives the guitar a comfortable contour and good sustain. There is one
trademark finish available with this guitar, and that is stark white with a matching white pickguard.
It is nicely glossed, and is very attractive, even with somewhat stark contrast from the hardware. The
neck is bolted onto the body, and is made of maple wood. Additionally, the neck has a design termed
Wizard II, a specialty of the Ibanez brand. The fretboard, meanwhile, is made of rosewood. On it are
twenty four jumbo frets and specially designed shark tooth inlays. The bridge of the Ibanez
RG350DX is the trademark tremolo. All of the hardware, including the tuning heads, bridge, and
control knobs, is black painted metal. It is certainly a stark contrast to the white glossed finish, but
manages to work nicely. Electronically, the Ibanez RG350DX is pretty unique. It has three Ibanez

The Rise of a Native American Balladry Essay
The Rise of a Native American Balladry
First, it will be necessary to review some important points. In the early days (1600–1770s),
importation/adaptation was the dominant process.
British songs and ballads were adapted to the frontier experience,
Victorian morality and Puritan ethics. Songs which contained subject matter which was completely
irrelevant to the frontier or unacceptable to moral and ethical standards were either discarded
altogether, new lyrics were added to old melodies, or lyrical changes were made. (Remember, there
were no copyright laws at that time). However, even from the beginning, original folk creations
began to take their place ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was done by including a moral object lesson, i.e., a warning, exhortation, etc., which gave the
song some moral justification and made it palatable to
Calvinistic religious beliefs or by omitting offensive material. The
"Wreck of the Old 97" ends with the admonition to girls that they should never speak harshly to
their sweetheart because "he may go an never return." In "Rising Sun Blues," the singer says,
"Go tell my baby brother, Lord, not to do what I have done, Don't spend your days in pain and
misery, In the House of the Rising Sun."
Even songs about natural disaster such as floods, storms, etc., contained such lessons. In a song
known as the Vicksburg Flood, the writer warns his listeners to "Get right with your Maker as He
doeth all things right." At the same time, American ballads retained the significant characteristics of
the ballad tradition ––descriptive narrative, hard–hitting realism and a pre–occupation with the
tragic element.
Just as important as the adaptation of older ballads and the creation of new ones was the rise of a
distinctive "folk style."(Much of the following discussion is from Alan Lomax, "Folk Song Style,"
in The
American Anthropologist, 61 (December, l959):929–955). No sound recordings were made until the
1880s and no folk music was recorded, to speak of, until the 1920s; therefore, any discussion of
performance style must be

The Influence Of Country Music
Do you ever listen to Ave Maria on full blast while working out, or maybe listen to heavy metal
when you're trying to relax? The answer is most likely no. This is because music has an
unbelievable ability to set a mood, and this mood varies depending on which genre you decide to
indulge in. The components we rely on to set this mood are the lyrics, variety of instruments
involved, and the emotion behind the voice. While relaxing on the beach I prefer a country song like
"This is How We Roll" by Florida Georgia Line, whereas when I workout I prefer "Live from the
Gutter" by Future and Drake. This association is dependent on the lyrics and style of musical
performance. Country music as a whole has developed from hillbilly boogie, to honky tonk, to what
we commonly hear on the radio today as Nashville sound, or country pop. The honky tonk ... Show

In "This is How we Roll" Florida Georgia Line transitions from singing their lyrics to a country rap
where the beat slows and the lyrics are sped up on a rhyme scheme. Similarly, Future took a step
away from an overload of modulated bass to incorporate a piano rift instead. We as listeners use
these genres of music to describe the music we like to listen to. However, the spectrum is so broad
that it is important to understand what composes a specific genre. There are hundreds of sub–genres
included in the overall label of country or hip–hop music, and the list continues to expand as artists
proceed to develop new creative ideas that make it to the top of the billboards. Both of these songs
are examples of songs that swept the nation with popularity but experimented with new styles the
diverged from the norms of the genre. I believe genres will always stay true to their cultural origins;
however, I'm excited for the future of music as artists continue to dip into various new

Brad Paisley and Country Music Essay
When country music began in America, there were no professional musicians. The typical musician
sang only to entertain himself, his family or at local events. There is evidence of square dance–like
events as far back as the 1830s (with origins in European country dancing). At first, most country
music was either sung by itself or played on a lone fiddle or banjo. A good fiddler was a very
popular person and was often asked to perform at events ranging from weddings to cattle drives.
There was no concerted effort to preserve the songs played, but the songs that people loved lasted as
they were passed from town to town or generation to generation. Songs traveled with wandering
minstrels and soldiers as well as those who moved across the ... Show more content on

In other types of country music you might hear the accordion, the harmonica, the piano, washboards
or drums which didn't become popular till the 1960‘s but are used a lot in today‘s bands. Country
music began in music styles brought over by the European settlers. In medieval times, storytelling
was a tradition that allowed history to be recorded when few were able to read and write. When the
first British settlers came to America, they brought this tradition with them, along with songs they
had learned in Europe. The people who settled in the Appalachian Mountains and the West did not
have an easy life and their music was their only outlet. While country music began with ballads (a
narrative that is sung) and songs of the British Isles, it changed in content and personality as it grew
in America. The British songs were objective, often resembling gruesome stories. They had many
themes of the supernatural, avenging spirits, loves found and lost, and violent happenings. In
America, the songs became very subjective and personal, downplayed the supernatural, and, in
songs of crimes, emphasized the evil acts while minimizing the gore. When the songs had to do with
love gone bad, the American's ballad removed the violence and gruesomeness. The change may
have been due to the philosophy of the Southern lifestyle. Another characteristic of the American
ballad is the addition of moral ending to songs.

Research Paper On Fender Guitars
I bet everyone has heard of the famous Fender guitars. But who is the man behind all of the success
and the great guitars? Who renovated the whole music world?
Fender Musical Instruments Corporation – better known as Fender, was founded by Clarence
Leonidas "Leo" Fender in 1946. Originally the company was called Fender Electric Manufacturing
Company. As you may notice Fender's official name has been and still is quite long. That is why we
now know this famous company by its shorter name: Fender.
Like many other companies, Fender also started from the bottom. Leo Fender, the man behind all
the success, started his business by repairing radios, phonograph players, and amplifiers. This was
quite a successful business back then, but soon Leo Fender started to aim higher. After he started to

He sold his precious company to CBS for 13 million, because of his poor health. Not a bad deal.
This deal obviously made Leo Fender rich, but he also gave up his years of hard work. Still, after
this big change, Fender's popularity has remained and the company has continued designing
amazing instruments for people.
What is Fender nowadays? Fender is still known for its several instruments such as the guitars,
basses, ukuleles mandolins and the amplifiers. There is so much to talk about Fender and it's guitars,
but this time the focus is on the electric guitars and more specifically in Stratocaster.
Stratocaster, as I earlier mentioned, was first introduced in 1954. So what was then so special about
this guitar? Stratocaster was the first guitar with three pickups and a spring tension tremolo system.
This was also a first Fender guitar with a contoured body. Stratocaster had this double cutaway
design which made playing in the upper registers easier. This new design was quite a helpful to
musicians. Back then it could not be foreseen how popular this one guitar would someday

The Bands And Music Groups That Are Popular Today
Introduction:
Look at the bands and music groups that are popular today. They use many different instruments to
create the songs they present to us. A common instrument they tend to use is the guitar. Whether it is
acoustic or electric, the guitar can be used in various styles of music such as rock, pop, or country,
presenting it's ability to adapt and change the different forms, creating perfect harmonies. Although,
it is a well known instrument around the world, people do not appreciate the time and effort it takes
to create such an incredible instrument. We tend to applaud the people that play it well, but what
about those who create it? What about the people behind the creation of the guitars we play? There
is a lot that goes into making such a magnificent instrument. While there is a lot of woodwork and
craftsmanship needed, putting the parts together without a mistake, people don't realize that there is
a lot of math that goes into creating a guitar. By combining the fields of mathematics and musical
theory, a craftsman can produce a guitar of great quality. To understand this complex interplay, we
must understand:
– the relationship between frequency of sound waves and the pitch of musical notes
– the body of a guitar as an acoustic resonator
– Pythagorean tuning & and the diatonic scale
– the Western chromatic scale as a group of 12 elements closed under transposition in a specific
system of tuning
– how to place frets on a guitar using either a mathematical idea

How Did Artie Get A Job
Once upon a time, there was a famous city in a far away land called the City of Jobs. In the City of

There was Mrs. Lin, from China, who owned a shop that sold colorful silks of every color. Mr.

And Mrs.Smith, from America, whose music store was filled with an assortment of instruments. But

Muddy Waters Song Analysis
Muddy Waters concert opens with Muddy plucking on his electric guitar to the tune of "long

guitars have their small riffs with the harmonica played between the lyrics as always the drum

Buying An Instrument Is Not An Easy Task
Buying an instrument is not an easy task. While you can walk to a shop and pick yourself a pair of
white socks without thinking about it, you don't want to do the same with a musical instrument.
If you are looking to add a bit of music to your life, then ask these ten questions before you hand out
the money.
1. Are Your Buying the Right Instrument?
Selecting a musical instrument to play is a bit like buying shoes. If you don't get the right fit, you are
most likely going to end up with an aching body and hurt feelings.
You might love the sports shoes, but if you never go running than what is the point? Even if you
dream of playing the guitar, the violin might actually suit you much better, so pick carefully.
2. Do You Want the Instrument for the Right Reason?
As well as finding the right instrument for your personality and play style, you also need to stop and
think while you are getting the instrument. Are you just buying the guitar to impress the ladies?
If you have no interest in learning the specific instrument, if there's no passion in your belly than
don't bother. You'll learn a lot faster if looking cool isn't the only reason you re picking the chosen
instrument.
3. Can You Store the Instrument?
It might sound obvious but people are sometimes silly when it comes to instruments. You might be
destined to play the piano, it might be your dream and passion, but if you live in a studio flat the size
of a small closet, you might need to put your dreams on hold.

points in his life. Then at the age Twenty–Five he was standing on a stage in front of over half of a

music. Jimi Hendrix was one of the most inspiring and remarkable musicians of the rock era. James

Analysis of Fabulous Superlatives Concert
This may sound trite, but the concert as I saw it is best described by the name of the band, the
Fabulous Superlatives!!! On every level this was a concert I will remember for a long time.
The ArtsQuest venue was new to me and I was impressed with the ease of finding it, the free amble
parking, the friendly staff and the great sound and seating. It is a modern impressive structure built
around the old Bethlehem Steel Works. The ruins of the old plant are used as a visual backdrop to
the new and impressive entertainment complex. There are a couple of restaurants, and a movie
theater housed next to the concert venue. The food was very good, the serviced just great and I'd
would and plan to go back.
Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives took the stage with a thunderous explosion of applause
form the sold out audience. It was evident that many folks where their to see Marty as the primary
reason for coming that evening. His band is truly both fabulous and superlative. The line up is:
Harry Stenson on drums and background vocals; Kenny Vughan on lead and acoustic guitar; Paul
Martin bass and background vocals and Clarence the guitar accompanying Marty Stuart. Clarence is
the guitar played by the fabled Clarence White. Clarence and Roger's Rickenbacker 370/12 guitars

Reflective Essay On Music
I have learned the significance of making music act as ecstasy from the day I realized the value of it,
now that it is my everyday love–affair. My first encounter was when in my 5th grade my mother
took me to a local music training center. I enjoyed my time thoroughly learning classical and
traditional music for some years, and had no idea about other musical genres. Until one day my best
friend was kind enough to share his collection of music that he downloaded from the internet and
that day was the turning point in my life, changed my chemistry within. It was a collection of heavy
metal bands something which I have never heard of. I couldn't believe that such an unknown
musical genre can be so impressive than anything else. The power of expression, the deep emotion
of instruments was hauntingly beautiful and still is. My early influence came from the magnificent
music of bands such as Linkin Park, Metallica, Green Day, Iron Maiden and my current exploration
is around progressive music. I truly adore the guitar playing of Andy James, John Brown of
Monuments, Mike Dawes etc.
Choosing to play guitar became sensible in my case as the whole vibe of the instrument is so

Narrative Essay About Happy Birthday
"Beep, beep, beep." My alarm clock reads 6:00 AM in bright red. I threw my pillow over my ears
irritated by the excruciating loud beeping noises. I fell back asleep, my laziness couldn't bare to get
up for school. But 5 minutes later this happens.... "Happy birthday to Hazel, happy birthday to
Hazel, happy birthday dear Hazel, happy birthday to you!" The booming voices fill the room and
awake me from my slumber with their awful out of tune singing! I open my eyes for a moment and
notice a white poster hanging on the back of my door reading in whimsical colors (Orange and Teal)
"Happy Birthday Hazel!!!" Lights then blinded my eyes as Cole switched on the lights. I sat up in
my bed, I see my family gathered around it! I glance at the calendar hanging on the wall which read
Friday May 24th my birthday! My mom was holding a beautiful displayed breakfast tray with
colorful flowers and my favorite, a cupcake with scrambled eggs! "Happy birthday squirt it's your
big day." My brother said smiling as he walked over and sat on the end of my bed. Cole always
cared for me he was definitely my bestfriend especially when times got tough. We have a special
bond even though he's in highschool we still understand each other and are there for each other. I
only have two friends Kayla and Cole! My mom then walks over and sets the tray out in front of me.

My Love Of Love And Love In My Life
In my life, I have always tried to find things that make my life more joyful and peaceful, and there
really are three things that I can think of to best illustrate my love for peace and joy. The first is the
willow sapling that, to me, represents the joy of my childhood. The second is the guitar that I first
learned to play on, that represents my love of music and the peace that I get from it. The third is the
postcard I brought back from New Zealand that represents my love of travel and adventure and the
joy that it brings me. These things are the most important to me because they remind me to always
seek joy and peace in my life.
The first of three items that are most impactful in my life is the willow sapling we used to play with
as kids. Somewhere, lying on mossy green stones along the ruby river in Montana is a sprig of
willow, if it is not gone by now. A long time ago, way back when my family and I used to visit our
cousin's ranch, my sister, my cousins, and I would all go down to where small, rocky covered in
young willow trees islands sprung out of the ruby river, separated by thin sheet sheets of quickly
flowing icy cold water. We would divide up the islands and resources, then get into teams of two.
My sister and I would always inevitably end up paired together, which didn't bother me, but she

Sherman Alexie's Life Analysis
On Christmas day, a thirteen–year–old boy opens a gift from his mom. With excitement and joy the
boy receives his first guitar, an Ibanez electric. The boy plugs the new guitar into a solid state
Marshall amplifier and makes noise. Not knowing any chords or how to play, that moment of
creating sounds and feedback on his own. He formed a passion and love of the instrument for many
years to come. The music of Jimi Hendrix, The Velvet Underground and The Rolling Stones filled
his head. He wanted to be like the masters, so he practiced every day and took lessons when he
could. With persistence and love for music, the boy learned chords and scales and started to create
music of his own. Guitar changed his life and made his hard upbringing better. The struggles, his
mom had raising a kid on her own. Working two jobs and being a single mom made her happy
knowing her son had a hobby and a love for music. Of course hearing loud guitar playing at 3 am at

How Guita Guitar Changed My Life
The best thing I ever decided to do in my life, besides accept Jesus as my savior, is probably the
decision to learn how to play guitar. The guitar has truly changed my life, as well as take all my
money. I have become obsessed with the instrument that has been one of the center pieces of music
history. From blues music in the early 1900s to pop music of today and everywhere in between the
guitar has influenced music almost as much as those singing it. I have been determined to learn as
much about the instrument as I can since I picked up in the 7th grade. I have gone from struggling to
play basic chords on a cheap acoustic guitar to being able to play some of the famous blues "licks"
and rock and roll hooks that have dominated music for so long. The guitar brings me a certain joy
that I very rarely feel when I am not playing. Hopefully one day I am able to hold my own with the
legendary guitarists that fill my spotify playlists. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of Happiness Is A Warm Gun
Fast–forward three years and it is easy to see what dramatic change came about in The Beatles'
style. In 1968 The Beatles released their White Album. This album took them into a transcendental
era of the psychedelic movement, where drug–fueled experimentation with heavy beats and intense
topics became the focus of their music. "Happiness Is A Warm Gun" is a musical masterpiece that
combined The Beatles' new found music style, edgy, risky lyrics, and an underlying undertone that
many viewed as inappropriate for the public audience.
The song opens musically with only a guitar playing a riff behind the vocals. The song sounds to be
in C–major, but the opening sounds to be in a minor key. This song seems like it is three different
songs woven together through intense beats and time signature changes. The beginning is 4/4 but
changes to 3/4 and 2/4 throughout the songs entirety. If I separated the song into three parts,
different tempos and instruments can be heard. In the beginning, only a guitar plays, followed by
drums and short chord strikes to create a chopping noise. The second part, characterized by the
tempo change and an intense guitar solo, adds a new percussion sound through the slashing of
cymbals and deliberate pedal stomps. The third part shows another signature change back to 4/4 and
a milder use of the cymbal, while still maintaining the chord chops. The riff from the introduction is
maintained throughout the whole song.

My Christmas Day
"Wake up, wake up! Come on, it's Christmas!" My little sister Emily was jumping on me and
shaking me roughly trying to get me out of bed. Monday morning, Christmas day. 7 a.m. is too early
for anyone to wake up in my opinion, even on Christmas. "Sarah!" Emily whined as she yanked my
blankets from off my bed. I crawled out of bed, tired as ever and feeling like a zombie, dragging my
feet down the stairs to the Christmas tree. Rubbing my eyes, I slowly but surely became more awake
as my eyes adjusted to the lights in the family room. Once everything was in focus and it didn't feel
like I was looking at the sun, I immediately noticed a tall present that couldn't even fit under the
tree. "Merry Christmas, sweetheart!" My mother joyfully exclaimed. My dad whipped out his
camera right away to take a picture of his girls. I pulled my knotted hair back into a low ponytail
and smiled for the picture, hoping that big present was mine. "Who's present is that?" Emily asked,
pointing at the one I was eyeing earlier. My mom told her that we're going to open that last. Finally,
the time came to open the tall gift. It was, in fact, for me. Once I had the okay from my parents, I
clawed at it and all I felt was cardboard, thick hard–to–open cardboard. I began to see on the box an
image of the neck of a guitar. "No way!" I exclaimed, "Did you get me a real guitar?" Tearing the
wrapping paper apart even faster now, I saw the full picture on the box. In the corner, it stated that it
came with five guitar picks, a capo, and a tuner. I've been talking about wanting this for months, and
now it's finally here! My dad was looking for a pair of good scissors to open the cardboard. Once he
found them, he looked up and asked, "So, what do you think, Sarah?" "I love it!" I joyously replied.
As my dad was opening the box, revealing the guitar and all of its embellishments, I gazed at the
six–string instrument with wide eyes like a little kid looking at all the candy they got on Halloween.
"Now, Sarah," My mother explained, "with this guitar comes responsibility. You have to be careful
with it and not let your friends use it in case they break it." "Mom, relax. They wouldn't do that," I
told her with an annoyed tone.

Essay on The History of the Guitar
The Guitar is a stringed musical instrument with six or twelve strings that is played by either
plucking or strumming the strings. It is one of the most popular instruments in the world. If an
individual were asked to identify a guitar most people would answer the question correctly more so
than they would if they were asked about another instrument. When people think about famous
guitarists, they more than likely think of famous rock and roll guitarists and do not think about the
many other famous guitarists in other musical genres such as jazz or country. The guitar is a well–
known instrument that influences many musical genres including Country. The origins of the guitar

The Guittern was shaped like a violin, played with a pick, and had the ability to be tuned in octaves
or in unison. This tuning ability was never used in other guitar instruments. Compared to the modern
day guitar, the Guittern lacked a movable bridge and a saddle. The Guittern was also the first
instrument to use wire strings instead the traditional gut strings used in stringed instruments (Kentor
Michael 4).
After the Guittern, the guitar's structure stayed the same and had little changes. One of the slightly
improved guitars was called the Ghitarra Battente. The Ghitarra Battente was the first guitarlike
instrument to use a saddle, a movable bridge, and led the trend towards metal frets (4). The Ghitarra
Battente helped the popularity of the guitar grow tremendously. This instrument somewhat slowed
down the development and improvements to the guitar until the 1500s. In the 1500s, the Vinuhela de
Mano was introduced to the world. The Vinuhela de Mano is the the largest guitar to date and set the
size for the modern guitar. This instrument had several soundholes on the top of the guitar, was
played using a pick, and used gut strings. The Vihuela de Mano resembles the modern twelve–
stringed guitars. The first publication of music for the guitar was published in 1564 and was called
"Tres Libros de Musica en Cifras para Vihuela." After the Vihuela de Mano, many forms of the
guitar emerged that improved the structure of the

drums, piano, or flute a child could possibly have the thought of wanting to learn how to play an

when a child knows how to play a musical instrument it can help them out in many more ways than

Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach are some of the most creative people in the history of the World, and
what did they do? They played instruments. Playing a musical instrument for a child is a creative
pursuit (Caron). Parents are always pushing their children to be more and more creative, well
parents why not buy them an instrument and let their creativity be expressed? "Everybody is born
creative, but many people don't realize it because it's not encouraged in their early years (iDiva)."
Having your child play an instrument would let that creativity that is bundled up inside them, that
they did not even know they had, and would let it sore out. Look at the creativity that the guitarist in
the last thirty to forty years have. Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Angus Young are three

It is the most important part. When all is said and done, guitars that sound better are by default
better. The category of tone has been dominated by Fender and Gibson. The two guitars offer the
best sound at the best price. The key to good tone and sound is good pickups. Pickups are located
underneath the strings, by where the picking takes place. He pick up the electromagnetic waves
from the string and send them out of the guitar. Stats use three single coil pickups with the third one
slightly slanted. These type of pickups offer a very distinct sound only fender is capable of creating.
It is best described as twangy and crisp. They sound extremely bright and behave well in all genres
of music. The single coil pickups are sloppy and primitive, but that is all part of the Fender sound.
Gibson Les Pauls uses what are called humbucker pickups. These are essentially just two single
coiled pickups placed right next to each other. What this does is that all the background buzz and
feedback that the guitar picks up is killed. These pickups are better described as warm and soft, they
seem to fill the air better. But what makes Gibsons special is the way they behave using overdrive.
Distortion pedals give Gibsons a crunchy sound that is the staple of heavy

Simon And Garfunkel: Folk Music Analysis
Simon and Garfunkel was a folk–rock duo that was a part of the 1960's folk revival. Their music
evokes certain elements from the folk tradition, including the use of the strophic form and certain
themes, such as family, love, and loss. These themes were very important to the folk tradition
because it was the reason and rhyme behind these songs. As a short example, the song called, The
Boxer, released in 1969, stands out as an allegory for Paul Simon's life. (Enders, 379) However, the
element that stands out the most in this song is not the meaning behind it, but the music itself. The
timbres of this song reflect folk tradition, such as the use of acoustic guitars, bass harmonicas, and a
soft, steady tapping of the guitar and its strings. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Correspondingly, the timbres of this song contain a haunting acoustic guitar, a gritty electric guitar,
bass, drums, and the voices of Simon and Garfunkel. The rhythm of this song has a standard beat,
while its form is strophic. The melody of Sound of Silence has an interesting contour because of the
way it rises and falls. This melody gives the song a remorseful, melancholy tone. On the other hand,
the harmony of the song has an interesting texture because of the way it layers instruments on top of
each other, such as the electric guitar on top of the acoustic guitar at the beginning of the song.
Overall, this song conveys serious depressing emotions. It is reminiscent of the times when we feel
as closed off from the rest of the world. The "sound of silence," in the song is the sound of
loneliness, representing the feeling that no one cares about you, that you are completely alone. I
believe that these emotions hit hard with the people during the 1960's because they have experience
those feelings all the time. It reminded them of how the world, society, is against them just because
they are a different race, gender, or sexuality. This song made these minorities want to fight harder,
which is why I think their song gained so much popularity. Further analysis shows, that the 4th

Robert Johnson performed it as a solo piece with his vocal and acoustic slide guitar in the Delta
style (as did Joe Dunn with his Flying–V). The song tells the story of Johnson being down on his

to get mercy from the lord himself. There is a legend that says that Robert Johnson was a man who
was from Mississippi, and who met the Devil at the crossroads. He sold his soul to the Devil in

Physics of an Acoustic Guitar Essay
Physics of an Acoustic Guitar
I have been watching my husband play the guitar in a band for five years and he has made it look so
easy to make such beautiful music. Most guitar players have progressed with the technology of
electric guitars, but when my husband picks up an acoustic guitar and starts to play a song for just
me, I hear his love for me in the sounds that he produces. Imagine my surprise when a physics class
conveyed to me that there was much more to his playing than I had imagined.
The sound that a guitar makes is easily recognizable to many people because the physics of the
acoustic guitar is mostly universal. The noticeable distinctions are the result of various wavelengths
and the harmonics that are created by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An antinode is present at the furthest amplitude above the string and at the furthest amplitude below
the wave. A full wavelength has two nodes and two antinodes. On a fixed string, nodes are created at
both ends, so the fundamental, or longest, wavelength that could be produced, would be twice the
length of the guitar string. Harmonics are determined by "whole number multiples of the
fundamental wavelength."3 They can vary in speed and have any number of wavelengths that can be
generated with nodes at both ends. For example, the first harmonic would be a full wavelength and
have two nodes and two antinodes. Each additional harmonic would add an additional half of a
wavelength to the string.
The relationship between the wavelength and the speed of the wave creates different frequencies
from the guitar. The frequency is the number of wavelengths that occur per second. The equation is
set up as the frequency equals the speed of the waves divided by the wavelength, or f = u § l .
Frequency is measured in Hertz (Hz) and humans can generally hear between 20Hz and 20,000Hz,
depending on the individual.
The various frequencies formed on a guitar are attributed to the difference in the strings on the
guitar. The strings, in order from the bottom to the top, are: E, B, G, D, A, and E. Their fundamental
frequencies are listed respectively as: 329.6Hz, 246.9Hz, 196Hz, 146.8Hz, 110Hz, and

At the young age music is brought into a child's life, parents even use music to sooth a baby before
it is even born. Victor Hugo once said, "Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and
that which cannot remain silent. Throughout history, the highly evocative language of music has
played a major role in influencing societies and individuals. I can say that music is the most
complex form of expression which communicates in a language that penetrates beyond the mind; it
goes directly to the emotions and creates an environment or a feeling that defines that very moment.
That music has the power to express and convey our thoughts and our emotions is without question.
Thus, music is an important aspect in a person's life. Without music, life will be uninteresting. Thus,
to add spice in life or to enjoy life in a better way, we need music. Moreover, it helps to change the
perception of people about things significant to

Cologne Guitar Town
Sponsored by The Gibson Foundation, Guitar Town is a famous event where a town is filled with
huge guitar sculptures replicas of Gibson most famous models. The event also includes special
concerts, workshops, lectures and get–together with guitar legends. So far, this event only once
came to Europe, was in London 2007.
After the exhibition of the guitars, they enter in an auction and the money generated is given to
social causes.
Gibson wishes to do such a program in Cologne. The need to enter and gain customer proximity in
the European market makes this an excellent choice and so, Gibson is seeking a partnership with
Music Store in order to bring the event to Cologne. Also, is important to state that joining both
brands in such invent is a way to Gibson generates a strategic position near a major retailer in
Europe.
Special Productions
As previous stated, although Music Store has in its catalogue several products from Gibson, truth is,
Gibson isn't in the best sellers list. The main reason identified for that is probably the premium
position that Gibson has. Their Guitars are priced above the regular and most sold guitars in the
store.
In order to invert this tendency, it may be possible to create a special line just for Europe and have
the launching fully dedicated to Music Store for a pre–determined set of time. This way it could be
price controlled, targeting an European Market that is investing less in premium

Difference Between The Oud And The Oud The ancestor of the guitar, the oud, has not evolved into the guitar but only inspired its creation and together became two popular instruments used in various parts of the world. The guitar is mostly associated with western countries while the oud has been traditionally used in the Spanish and Arab countries. Classified as string instruments both the guitar and the oud have a few similarities. To be held and played in the same way their physical appearance resembles one another in terms of shape, materials and the use of strings to produce their acoustic sound. The wooden neck on both guitars allows one to play by plucking the strings attached and transmitting the energy from the strings vibration into the air producing sound. The ... The Oud is one of the oldest musical instruments known to man. However, the legacy of the Oud, unlike that of many other ancient traditions, continues till today. The earliest proof of the existence of an instrument like the Oud can be found in an excavated cylindrical seal from the Uruk Period in Mesopotamia, which dates back almost 5000 years. Since then, the Oud has been revered as the 'King of Instruments,' telling the stories of its time through its melodious music. Even today, the beautiful sounds of the Oud have the power to transport the listener to another time. History is full of stories about the Oud. According to Abu Nasr Muhammad Ibn Muhammad Al Farabi, the 10th century Islamic scholar and philosopher, Lamech, the sixth grandson of Adam, invented the Oud. Legend has it that, overcome by grief at the death of his son, Lamech hung his body from a tree. The first ever Oud was thus inspired by the shape of the skeleton on the ... As a listener, I am able to empathize with emotion and artistic expressions to further understand and connect my own emotions. However, it wasn't until I received my first guitar that I uncovered the transcendental, transformative, and magical idiosyncrasies of music. These qualities have been seamlessly spent with endless hours of unrelenting practice mixed with boundless creativity. Music has a way of capturing not only my emotions, but also my imagination. The effort and time I have invested into it has allowed me to create compositions and improvisations that alleviate my anxieties while daily enriching my life. Despite this devout passion for music, my first experiences with a guitar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This immediately altered my previous instructional methods that proved slow and inefficient. I was learning songs via tablature and video lessons but lacked the core understanding of music theory and what it represents. Without essential music theory knowledge I was at a disadvantage because I could only learn songs with tablatures available (which is not that many), or I could only learn through tablature, therefore I would not be unable to compose the type of music I wanted because I lacked the natural ability to create consonant melodies. After a friend showed me a basic outline of what music theory encompasses, I applied it to my compositions and instantly heard and felt improvement in the quality of my instrumentation. Music theory is language with rules and standards that can be innovated and reinvented. By having an understanding of which notes and chords are consonant and dissonant, I produced better melodies and I heard in my mind the timbre I wanted. I quickly became fascinated by all the patterns and idiosyncrasies that exist in modern music and began to emulate sounds and techniques of my favorite musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, and Eric Clapton. The notes, the harmonies, the melodies I produced finally began to progress. I became musically self–sufficient, capable of learning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. The Most Common Theme Of Classic Country In researching classic country there are many themes that can be found in the performances. The most common theme is almost every classic country artist had an acoustic guitar. They would use this guitar as essentially the main melody for their songs which they would then add vocals on top of. Then every once and a while other string instruments or drums would be added to the songs. However, there was never any electronic instruments added to classic country music (Aaron Lewis). Another theme in classic country performances are the outfits the artists wear. Almost every artist I researched had on a cowboy hat, cowboy boots, jeans, and a flannel jacket (Aaron Lewis). This hillbilly style look is one of classic countries most signature identities. Along with the look of the artists the farming/country land feel has become very integrated in the music itself. The classic country arts constantly sing about life on a farm, the mountains around them, or their truck that they drive (Aaron Lewis). In simpler terms country music tends to approach more social, cultural and regional issues than other music. This is one of the reasons country became so popular initially is because it is so personal. In addition to these themes the venues also share certain characteristics. In classic country the focus is more on the lyrics and telling a story. Therefore, in the performances there is very little lighting effects and added stage props. • 21. Development of Musical Instruments Throughout history, music has been influenced by the different events that transpire across the world. As civilizations rise and fall, cultures combine and change; and with that, new music and musical instruments are brought into existence. From each corner of the world and from all time periods, music has grown. The places that music has dramatically developed the most are in China, Europe, and America. Musical instruments in these locations have gone through a musical "revolution" and have eventually become what we know so well today. China One of the earliest locations that musical instruments were created and developed was China. Many of the instruments during this period (500 – 1100 A.D.) that were being made were classified as zithers of idiophones. Zithers are very similar to guitars since both share the quality of having strings, but do not have a "neck." Idiophones are instruments where the body itself vibrates to create the sound much like modern day percussion instruments. These types of instruments were brought into being by the beliefs and teachings of people like Confucius, Mencius, and Laozi. These men "believed that music was an essential part of character and community" and helped the creation of new instruments (1). Many different styles of instruments came out of this time period. Instruments such as the Guqin, Xiao flute, Sanxian, and Pipa were all created and modified with the rise of a style of music– Nanguan. Nanguan was "a style of Chinese classical ... Since the company itself is founded and based in Japan, there is often lower prices for manufacturing. With this advantage, Ibanez can produce some very high quality instruments at prices that won 't break the bank. One example of these guitars is the Ibanez RG350DX. Let 's take a closer to see if it lives it up to Ibanez 's trademark value. Features: The body of the Ibanez RG350DX is, like most of its mid range instruments, made of basswood. It is the same wood used on many Fender products, and gives the guitar a comfortable contour and good sustain. There is one trademark finish available with this guitar, and that is stark white with a matching white pickguard. It is nicely glossed, and is very attractive, even with somewhat stark contrast from the hardware. The neck is bolted onto the body, and is made of maple wood. Additionally, the neck has a design termed Wizard II, a specialty of the Ibanez brand. The fretboard, meanwhile, is made of rosewood. On it are twenty four jumbo frets and specially designed shark tooth inlays. The bridge of the Ibanez RG350DX is the trademark tremolo. All of the hardware, including the tuning heads, bridge, and control knobs, is black painted metal. It is certainly a stark contrast to the white glossed finish, but manages to work nicely. Electronically, the Ibanez RG350DX is pretty unique. It has three Ibanez brand pickups, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. The Rise of a Native American Balladry Essay The Rise of a Native American Balladry First, it will be necessary to review some important points. In the early days (1600–1770s), importation/adaptation was the dominant process. British songs and ballads were adapted to the frontier experience, Victorian morality and Puritan ethics. Songs which contained subject matter which was completely irrelevant to the frontier or unacceptable to moral and ethical standards were either discarded altogether, new lyrics were added to old melodies, or lyrical changes were made. (Remember, there were no copyright laws at that time). However, even from the beginning, original folk creations began to take their place ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was done by including a moral object lesson, i.e., a warning, exhortation, etc., which gave the song some moral justification and made it palatable to Calvinistic religious beliefs or by omitting offensive material. The "Wreck of the Old 97" ends with the admonition to girls that they should never speak harshly to their sweetheart because "he may go an never return." In "Rising Sun Blues," the singer says, "Go tell my baby brother, Lord, not to do what I have done, Don't spend your days in pain and misery, In the House of the Rising Sun." Even songs about natural disaster such as floods, storms, etc., contained such lessons. In a song known as the Vicksburg Flood, the writer warns his listeners to "Get right with your Maker as He doeth all things right." At the same time, American ballads retained the significant characteristics of the ballad tradition ––descriptive narrative, hard–hitting realism and a pre–occupation with the tragic element. Just as important as the adaptation of older ballads and the creation of new ones was the rise of a distinctive "folk style."(Much of the following discussion is from Alan Lomax, "Folk Song Style," in The American Anthropologist, 61 (December, l959):929–955). No sound recordings were made until the 1880s and no folk music was recorded, to speak of, until the 1920s; therefore, any discussion of performance style must be somewhat ... • 33. The Influence Of Country Music Do you ever listen to Ave Maria on full blast while working out, or maybe listen to heavy metal when you're trying to relax? The answer is most likely no. This is because music has an unbelievable ability to set a mood, and this mood varies depending on which genre you decide to indulge in. The components we rely on to set this mood are the lyrics, variety of instruments involved, and the emotion behind the voice. While relaxing on the beach I prefer a country song like "This is How We Roll" by Florida Georgia Line, whereas when I workout I prefer "Live from the Gutter" by Future and Drake. This association is dependent on the lyrics and style of musical performance. Country music as a whole has developed from hillbilly boogie, to honky tonk, to what we commonly hear on the radio today as Nashville sound, or country pop. The honky tonk ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In "This is How we Roll" Florida Georgia Line transitions from singing their lyrics to a country rap where the beat slows and the lyrics are sped up on a rhyme scheme. Similarly, Future took a step away from an overload of modulated bass to incorporate a piano rift instead. We as listeners use these genres of music to describe the music we like to listen to. However, the spectrum is so broad that it is important to understand what composes a specific genre. There are hundreds of sub–genres included in the overall label of country or hip–hop music, and the list continues to expand as artists proceed to develop new creative ideas that make it to the top of the billboards. Both of these songs are examples of songs that swept the nation with popularity but experimented with new styles the diverged from the norms of the genre. I believe genres will always stay true to their cultural origins; however, I'm excited for the future of music as artists continue to dip into various new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Brad Paisley and Country Music Essay When country music began in America, there were no professional musicians. The typical musician sang only to entertain himself, his family or at local events. There is evidence of square dance–like events as far back as the 1830s (with origins in European country dancing). At first, most country music was either sung by itself or played on a lone fiddle or banjo. A good fiddler was a very popular person and was often asked to perform at events ranging from weddings to cattle drives. There was no concerted effort to preserve the songs played, but the songs that people loved lasted as they were passed from town to town or generation to generation. Songs traveled with wandering minstrels and soldiers as well as those who moved across the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In other types of country music you might hear the accordion, the harmonica, the piano, washboards or drums which didn't become popular till the 1960‘s but are used a lot in today‘s bands. Country music began in music styles brought over by the European settlers. In medieval times, storytelling was a tradition that allowed history to be recorded when few were able to read and write. When the first British settlers came to America, they brought this tradition with them, along with songs they had learned in Europe. The people who settled in the Appalachian Mountains and the West did not have an easy life and their music was their only outlet. While country music began with ballads (a narrative that is sung) and songs of the British Isles, it changed in content and personality as it grew in America. The British songs were objective, often resembling gruesome stories. They had many themes of the supernatural, avenging spirits, loves found and lost, and violent happenings. In America, the songs became very subjective and personal, downplayed the supernatural, and, in songs of crimes, emphasized the evil acts while minimizing the gore. When the songs had to do with love gone bad, the American's ballad removed the violence and gruesomeness. The change may have been due to the philosophy of the Southern lifestyle. Another characteristic of the American ballad is the addition of moral ending to songs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stratocaster was the first guitar with three pickups and a spring tension tremolo system. This was also a first Fender guitar with a contoured body. Stratocaster had this double cutaway design which made playing in the upper registers easier. This new design was quite a helpful to musicians. • 45. The Bands And Music Groups That Are Popular Today Introduction: Look at the bands and music groups that are popular today. They use many different instruments to create the songs they present to us. A common instrument they tend to use is the guitar. Whether it is acoustic or electric, the guitar can be used in various styles of music such as rock, pop, or country, presenting it's ability to adapt and change the different forms, creating perfect harmonies. Although, it is a well known instrument around the world, people do not appreciate the time and effort it takes to create such an incredible instrument. We tend to applaud the people that play it well, but what about those who create it? What about the people behind the creation of the guitars we play? There is a lot that goes into making such a magnificent instrument. While there is a lot of woodwork and craftsmanship needed, putting the parts together without a mistake, people don't realize that there is a lot of math that goes into creating a guitar. By combining the fields of mathematics and musical theory, a craftsman can produce a guitar of great quality. To understand this complex interplay, we must understand: – the relationship between frequency of sound waves and the pitch of musical notes – the body of a guitar as an acoustic resonator – Pythagorean tuning & and the diatonic scale – the Western chromatic scale as a group of 12 elements closed under transposition in a specific system of tuning – how to place frets on a guitar using either a mathematical idea ... • 61. Buying An Instrument Is Not An Easy Task Buying an instrument is not an easy task. While you can walk to a shop and pick yourself a pair of white socks without thinking about it, you don't want to do the same with a musical instrument. If you are looking to add a bit of music to your life, then ask these ten questions before you hand out the money. 1. Are Your Buying the Right Instrument? Selecting a musical instrument to play is a bit like buying shoes. If you don't get the right fit, you are most likely going to end up with an aching body and hurt feelings. You might love the sports shoes, but if you never go running than what is the point? Even if you dream of playing the guitar, the violin might actually suit you much better, so pick carefully. 2. Do You Want the Instrument for the Right Reason? As well as finding the right instrument for your personality and play style, you also need to stop and think while you are getting the instrument. Are you just buying the guitar to impress the ladies? If you have no interest in learning the specific instrument, if there's no passion in your belly than don't bother. You'll learn a lot faster if looking cool isn't the only reason you re picking the chosen instrument. 3. Can You Store the Instrument? It might sound obvious but people are sometimes silly when it comes to instruments. You might be destined to play the piano, it might be your dream and passion, but if you live in a studio flat the size of a small closet, you might need to put your dreams on hold. ... • 73. Reflective Essay On Music I have learned the significance of making music act as ecstasy from the day I realized the value of it, now that it is my everyday love–affair. My first encounter was when in my 5th grade my mother took me to a local music training center. I enjoyed my time thoroughly learning classical and traditional music for some years, and had no idea about other musical genres. Until one day my best friend was kind enough to share his collection of music that he downloaded from the internet and that day was the turning point in my life, changed my chemistry within. It was a collection of heavy metal bands something which I have never heard of. I couldn't believe that such an unknown musical genre can be so impressive than anything else. The power of expression, the deep emotion of instruments was hauntingly beautiful and still is. My early influence came from the magnificent music of bands such as Linkin Park, Metallica, Green Day, Iron Maiden and my current exploration is around progressive music. I truly adore the guitar playing of Andy James, John Brown of Monuments, Mike Dawes etc. Choosing to play guitar became sensible in my case as the whole vibe of the instrument is so appealing. Social media have been a growing platform and I used it to communicate to as many musicians, people all over the world, now that I am in touch with many great artists. Initially, I started playing the guitar by myself with a little research and later took lessons from a private tutor. Fundamentally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My Love Of Love And Love In My Life In my life, I have always tried to find things that make my life more joyful and peaceful, and there really are three things that I can think of to best illustrate my love for peace and joy. The first is the willow sapling that, to me, represents the joy of my childhood. The second is the guitar that I first learned to play on, that represents my love of music and the peace that I get from it. The third is the postcard I brought back from New Zealand that represents my love of travel and adventure and the joy that it brings me. The first of three items that are most impactful in my life is the willow sapling we used to play with as kids. The guitar has truly changed my life, as well as take all my money. I have become obsessed with the instrument that has been one of the center pieces of music history. This album took them into a transcendental era of the psychedelic movement, where drug–fueled experimentation with heavy beats and intense topics became the focus of their music. "Happiness Is A Warm Gun" is a musical masterpiece that combined The Beatles' new found music style, edgy, risky lyrics, and an underlying undertone that many viewed as inappropriate for the public audience. The song opens musically with only a guitar playing a riff behind the vocals. The song sounds to be in C–major, but the opening sounds to be in a minor key. This song seems like it is three different songs woven together through intense beats and time signature changes. The beginning is 4/4 but changes to 3/4 and 2/4 throughout the songs entirety. If I separated the song into three parts, different tempos and instruments can be heard. In the beginning, only a guitar plays, followed by drums and short chord strikes to create a chopping noise. The second part, characterized by the tempo change and an intense guitar solo, adds a new percussion sound through the slashing of cymbals and deliberate pedal stomps. The third part shows another signature change back to 4/4 and a milder use of the cymbal, while still maintaining the chord chops. The riff from the introduction is maintained throughout the whole song. A syncopated melody can be heard ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Monday morning, Christmas day. 7 a.m. is too early for anyone to wake up in my opinion, even on Christmas. "Sarah!" Emily whined as she yanked my blankets from off my bed. I crawled out of bed, tired as ever and feeling like a zombie, dragging my feet down the stairs to the Christmas tree. Rubbing my eyes, I slowly but surely became more awake as my eyes adjusted to the lights in the family room. Once everything was in focus and it didn't feel like I was looking at the sun, I immediately noticed a tall present that couldn't even fit under the tree. "Merry Christmas, sweetheart!" My mother joyfully exclaimed. My dad whipped out his camera right away to take a picture of his girls. I pulled my knotted hair back into a low ponytail and smiled for the picture, hoping that big present was mine. "Who's present is that?" Emily asked, pointing at the one I was eyeing earlier. My mom told her that we're going to open that last. Finally, the time came to open the tall gift. It was, in fact, for me. Once I had the okay from my parents, I clawed at it and all I felt was cardboard, thick hard–to–open cardboard. I began to see on the box an image of the neck of a guitar. "No way!" I exclaimed, "Did you get me a real guitar?" Tearing the wrapping paper apart even faster now, I saw the full picture on the box. In the corner, it stated that it came with five guitar picks, a capo, and a tuner. I've been talking about wanting this for months, and now it's finally here! My dad was looking for a pair of good scissors to open the cardboard. Once he found them, he looked up and asked, "So, what do you think, Sarah?" "I love it!" I joyously replied. As my dad was opening the box, revealing the guitar and all of its embellishments, I gazed at the six–string instrument with wide eyes like a little kid looking at all the candy they got on Halloween. It is one of the most popular instruments in the world. If an individual were asked to identify a guitar most people would answer the question correctly more so than they would if they were asked about another instrument. When people think about famous guitarists, they more than likely think of famous rock and roll guitarists and do not think about the many other famous guitarists in other musical genres such as jazz or country. This tuning ability was never used in other guitar instruments. Compared to the modern day guitar, the Guittern lacked a movable bridge and a saddle. The Guittern was also the first instrument to use wire strings instead the traditional gut strings used in stringed instruments (Kentor Michael 4). After the Guittern, the guitar's structure stayed the same and had little changes. One of the slightly improved guitars was called the Ghitarra Battente. The Ghitarra Battente was the first guitarlike instrument to use a saddle, a movable bridge, and led the trend towards metal frets (4). To Do Or Not To Play Argumentative Essay AJ Carter Argument Essay Aubrie Cox 17 October 2012 To Play or Not to Play It seems that no matter what at some point in a child's life they wander up to their parents and ask, "Mom, Dad, can I learn to play an instrument?" Whether or not it is the guitar, drums, piano, or flute a child could possibly have the thought of wanting to learn how to play an instrument. When Mom and Dad end up saying no to their child they should stop and realize that when a child knows how to play a musical instrument it can help them out in many more ways than they know (iDiva). Having a young kid learn an instrument can help develop better coordination, build better concentration, help with stress relief, and enhance a child's intelligence, along with many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach are some of the most creative people in the history of the World, and what did they do? They played instruments. Playing a musical instrument for a child is a creative pursuit (Caron). Parents are always pushing their children to be more and more creative, well parents why not buy them an instrument and let their creativity be expressed? "Everybody is born creative, but many people don't realize it because it's not encouraged in their early years (iDiva)." Having your child play an instrument would let that creativity that is bundled up inside them, that they did not even know they had, and would let it sore out. Look at the creativity that the guitarist in the last thirty to forty years have. Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Angus Young are three of the greatest guitarist. It is the ultimate feeling someone can receive when they are just playing along on an instrument and all of a sudden compose some sort of music. When I'm playing my guitar just doing really nonsense chord progressions, or playing random riffs, and I build a song on the guitar the feeling is unreal. Once that happens the only thought that goes through my head is, "Whoa, I just made music on my own." I've been playing for about 8 years now and that feeling never goes away. Along with ... Guitar Comparison Weather it be Coke and Pepsi, Mac and Windows, or Nike and Adidas, for every successful brand in the world, there is always another equally popular one in existence whose presence divides the human race. This seemingly natural rise of rivalry has found its place in the vast world of music, in particular, the electric guitar. Behold Fender and Gibson. Two brands that have blown the competition out of the water for more than half a century and become something much more than just a brand. Unlike other corporations, these two guitars have earned the respect and praise of the public; their dual monopoly is seen not as a negative, but as an opportunity to provide the world with cheap, yet powerful and beautiful instruments. And while guitarists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is the most important part. When all is said and done, guitars that sound better are by default better. The category of tone has been dominated by Fender and Gibson. The two guitars offer the best sound at the best price. The key to good tone and sound is good pickups. Pickups are located underneath the strings, by where the picking takes place. He pick up the electromagnetic waves from the string and send them out of the guitar. Stats use three single coil pickups with the third one slightly slanted. These type of pickups offer a very distinct sound only fender is capable of creating. It is best described as twangy and crisp. They sound extremely bright and behave well in all genres of music. The single coil pickups are sloppy and primitive, but that is all part of the Fender sound. Gibson Les Pauls uses what are called humbucker pickups. These are essentially just two single coiled pickups placed right next to each other. What this does is that all the background buzz and feedback that the guitar picks up is killed. These pickups are better described as warm and soft, they seem to fill the air better. But what makes Gibsons special is the way they behave using overdrive. • 125. Simon And Garfunkel: Folk Music Analysis Simon and Garfunkel was a folk–rock duo that was a part of the 1960's folk revival. Their music evokes certain elements from the folk tradition, including the use of the strophic form and certain themes, such as family, love, and loss. These themes were very important to the folk tradition because it was the reason and rhyme behind these songs. As a short example, the song called, The Boxer, released in 1969, stands out as an allegory for Paul Simon's life. (Enders, 379) However, the element that stands out the most in this song is not the meaning behind it, but the music itself. The timbres of this song reflect folk tradition, such as the use of acoustic guitars, bass harmonicas, and a soft, steady tapping of the guitar and its strings. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Correspondingly, the timbres of this song contain a haunting acoustic guitar, a gritty electric guitar, bass, drums, and the voices of Simon and Garfunkel. The rhythm of this song has a standard beat, while its form is strophic. The melody of Sound of Silence has an interesting contour because of the way it rises and falls. This melody gives the song a remorseful, melancholy tone. On the other hand, the harmony of the song has an interesting texture because of the way it layers instruments on top of each other, such as the electric guitar on top of the acoustic guitar at the beginning of the song. Overall, this song conveys serious depressing emotions. It is reminiscent of the times when we feel as closed off from the rest of the world. The "sound of silence," in the song is the sound of loneliness, representing the feeling that no one cares about you, that you are completely alone. I believe that these emotions hit hard with the people during the 1960's because they have experience those feelings all the time. It reminded them of how the world, society, is against them just because they are a different race, gender, or sexuality. This song made these minorities want to fight harder, which is why I think their song gained so much popularity. Joe Dunn played a song by artist, Eric Clapton, titled "Crossroads". He told me that he chose to perform this particular song because he loves playing blues music and he respects Eric Clapton very much for his talents. Joe began playing the guitar when he was thirteen years old. The guitar that he used for this song was his very first guitar (called a Gibson "Flying V"). Joe actually used to be in his own blues band called "Benton St. Blues." After being at this concert, I could tell how much he really enjoys playing music and he had fun with it. Robert Johnson performed it as a solo piece with his vocal and acoustic slide guitar in the Delta style (as did Joe Dunn with his Flying–V). The song tells the story of Johnson being down on his knees at the crossroads (which was a place that you normally would not want to be at night), trying to get mercy from the lord himself. There is a legend that says that Robert Johnson was a man who was from Mississippi, and who met the Devil at the crossroads. He sold his soul to the Devil in exchange for being the King of the Delta Bluesmen, and to obtain knowledge of blues music. (Shmoop Editorial Team). Eric Clapton with his band of the time, "Cream," varied the song and made it as popular as it is now, and titled it "Crossroads." This song can be found on "Cream's" album "Wheels of Fire." But to me Mariachi is much more. It has its own language, a language that can be understood and admired by many. Each instrument is valuable and indescribably necessary. Physics of an Acoustic Guitar Essay Physics of an Acoustic Guitar I have been watching my husband play the guitar in a band for five years and he has made it look so easy to make such beautiful music. Most guitar players have progressed with the technology of electric guitars, but when my husband picks up an acoustic guitar and starts to play a song for just me, I hear his love for me in the sounds that he produces. Imagine my surprise when a physics class conveyed to me that there was much more to his playing than I had imagined. The sound that a guitar makes is easily recognizable to many people because the physics of the acoustic guitar is mostly universal. The noticeable distinctions are the result of various wavelengths and the harmonics that are created by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An antinode is present at the furthest amplitude above the string and at the furthest amplitude below the wave. A full wavelength has two nodes and two antinodes. On a fixed string, nodes are created at both ends, so the fundamental, or longest, wavelength that could be produced, would be twice the length of the guitar string. Harmonics are determined by "whole number multiples of the fundamental wavelength."3 They can vary in speed and have any number of wavelengths that can be generated with nodes at both ends. For example, the first harmonic would be a full wavelength and have two nodes and two antinodes. Each additional harmonic would add an additional half of a wavelength to the string. The relationship between the wavelength and the speed of the wave creates different frequencies from the guitar. The frequency is the number of wavelengths that occur per second. The equation is set up as the frequency equals the speed of the waves divided by the wavelength, or f = u § l . Frequency is measured in Hertz (Hz) and humans can generally hear between 20Hz and 20,000Hz, depending on the individual. The various frequencies formed on a guitar are attributed to the difference in the strings on the guitar. The strings, in order from the bottom to the top, are: E, B, G, D, A, and E. Their fundamental frequencies are listed respectively as: 329.6Hz, 246.9Hz, 196Hz, 146.8Hz, 110Hz, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
