I will first ask the students, "If you want to communicate with a family or friend today, what would
you do?" I would write these answers on the left side of a t–chart labeled Communication Today , I
would then ask "If you lived during the Civil War and wanted to communicate with a family or
friend, what would you do?" I would write these answers on the right side of the chart labeled
"Communication during the Civil War". To wrap up the lesson I would show and explain to the
students the an old newspaper article from the Civil War and then also show a present day
newspaper. I will also also them how we actually communicate now. We would then together fill out
a Venn diagram to compare and contrast newspapers then and now. An I Can Read Book: Sam the

thoughts. This allows them to actively read and construct meaning while reading instead of just
glancing over the pages. I will instruct the students to to write post its on things that confused them,
things that struck an emotion, predictions, and connections to self, other text, or the world. Once the
students are done post it noting the book, they will take out the post–its and put them into their
notebook. I will put them into small groups to discuss their post it note

What Is Big Al's Essay
Big Al's Having an third place as Big Al's is one of my best choices that I have ever made. I didn't
know what third place meant when my professor told me and my classmates that our first essay is
about a third place. I asked myself "What is a third place?" What is the purpose of a third place?
What kind of sources do I need to be researching for it? When I read a book by Ray Oldenburg "The
Great Good Place: Cafes, Coffee Shops, Bookstores, Bars, Hair Salons, and other Hangouts as the
Heart of a Community" it talked about what is a third place and how can you tell what is third place
to other people or yourself. After reading Ray Oldenburg's book I understood that third place is an a
place that is not your home or your work, it is a place that you spend your time the third most. I
think Big Al's would be the best third place for me because I love bowling and I used to go to
bowling once a week before I got my job. Big Al's is a great place for me to be a third place as a
home away home because I always have fun in there when I go there with my friends, family, or
cousins. Ray Oldenburg's eight criteria: On Natural Ground, The Third Place Is a Lever,

I wish I still had the time like before that I used to go to bowling once a week if not once in two

Playful that states "The persistent mood of the third place is a playful one" (Oldenburg 37). My
mood always changes when I'm there because of the people that I play bowling with and the arcade
games we play. My other favorite thing in Big Al's is the arcade games because I always win bunch

The Best Of Times: A Short Story
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Actually, scratch that first bit. There was no way,
considering the way my summer had been going so far, that it could ever be considered the best of
times. I mean, I was sure a certain someone (that 'certain someone' being my arch nemesis, Jasmine)
out there was having the time of their life, lazily basking in the sun by a pool glittering with the rays
of the sun atop a luxurious Caribbean–bound cruise, a cool drink complete with a paper parasol by
their side. Unfortunately, not all of us were living the high life just yet. For one, in an attempt to
shield myself from the day's spell of muggy, enervating heat, I had glued myself to the small fan in
my room. I tried not to think about how today marked the eighteenth day in a row without ice cream
or sufficiently cool beverages, and how at this moment, Jasmine was probably choosing between a
mimosa and a glass of crisp, refreshing limeade. Too late. The very thought of Jasmine knocking
back a dinky champagne flute filled with liquid the colour of goldenrod was enough to make me
want to wail in frustration. All I had in my hands was the cap of a biro I'd stolen from my sister the
previous day. The main reason – well, the second main reason, after my ... Show more content on

I recognised it as one I liked, if only because it was one of a few in which I didn't sport a pained
expression. The photo had discoloured over time, though doodles in distinctive, very familiar red

countless works of art 'produced' by my brother. His loving vandalisation embellished my image
with what appeared to be a devil's pitchfork; sharp, exaggeratedly jagged teeth not unlike that of a
shark's; and a beautiful final touch – a shock of facial hair, including a glorious moustache that
would make any proud, zealously moustachioed man feel

Literary Analysis Of The Academic Bowl By E. L. Konigsburg
At the beginning of the novel, the author, E.L. Konigsburg, sets up the story at a state Academic
Bowl. The academic bowl takes place on a Saturday in May. The author first introduces us to Mrs.
Olinski, a sixth grade teacher at Epiphany Middle School. We also meet her academic bowl team,
The Souls. Next, Konigsburg introduces us to a sixth grader, Noah Gershom. Noah often uses
sarcasm to make his point. Fact: Noah Gershom loves facts. Currently, there are only two teams left
in the Bowl, Epiphany and Maxwell. The state superintendent asks a question about the meaning of
calligraphy, and Noah buzzes in. Using a pun, Konigsburg relates Noah being the first chosen to
answer the question to him being the first chosen for the team. The question about calligraphy ...

Foreshadowing is used here to tell us that something tragic may happen to the wagon. A little while
later, Noah saw Tillie Nachman make the invitations. He decided to ask Tillie if he could help with
the invitations, she agreed and also gave Noah a brief lesson about the meaning of calligraphy.
Therefore, Noah's Grandpa drove them to a local art store to buy Noah a calligraphy pen and a bottle
of ink. Now that Noah had his own calligraphy pen, Tillie showed him how to write with one. She
also showed him the six tedious steps you have to complete before you start writing. Everything was
going fine with the invitations until the cat knocked down the bottle of ink, and stepped on five of
the invitations. Therefore, Noah went and bought Post–it notes to stick on top of the ruined part of
the invitations. On the sticky notes he wrote that whoever had the paw print on their invitation could
claim their prize at the wedding. Noah didn't know what the prizes were yet. Now, wedding day
came around and the cake was finished and ready to be delivered. Here Konigsburg uses
foreshadowing to show that something is going to happen to the cake. Noah and his Grandpa go and
buy some ice for the cake so it

Short Story Of Caila
New York City is a fabulous place, or so everyone thinks. Caila, a sixteen year old girl who is
pregnant and has perfect hazel nut hair and sharp brown eyes. Her boyfriend, Owen has deep brown
hair and sea blue eyes. Caila is the most popular girl in school, but will being pregnant hurt her or
help her?
Everything was going great until one mysterious and odd day. Caila was driving home from school
in her cherry red Ferrari, she sat on the couch eating a salad with cherry tomatoes, bright green
cucumbers, and onions. Ring ring the phone rang " hello" said Caila "hello" she said again. She

and looked at Caila " it was your father he was working for a secret agency and needed to kill her in

Caila was now in the emergency room about to have her baby. "Owen" said the nurse, Owen walked
into room 1207. Caila was lying on the bed a baby girl in her arms. Owen was full of joy he was as
happy as he could ever be, Caila was smiling and staring at the baby as she said " I have came up

Creative Writing : A Short Story
"Pardon me, but just how are you going to keep people from learning your name? Even if you use
an assumed name, they'll still recognize you elsewhere." He slumped in his chair. "I guess I won't be
able to work with you then, sir. I don't want the notoriety that could come." The owner winced. "Tell
you what, son, I'll talk with some of the others and see if we can't figure something out. If anything
changes, you'll be called right away. Sound good?" "Yes sir." Blake left the stuffy office and walked
out to his car. This had been his dream for so long, it almost physically hurt to see it slip away.

Blake. You're a smart racer and a good person. Call whenever you can." Blake hung up, pinched
himself, and shook his head. He couldn't believe what had happened! Prayer really did work
wonders, and in the oddest ways. He looked at his watch, registered the time, and ran up the stairs –
two at a time – to grab a clean shirt and some deodorant before small group. "Does anyone have any
prayer requests or praises tonight?" Nikki asked. "Perseverance and patience in my work," said
Jaime. "It's been pretty hard lately, and there's some big stuff going on, so, yeah, thanks!" "I do too. I
can't give details, but I'd like prayer in a major decision, and praise that I've been given this
opportunity." Blake chuckled. "I'd like to second Aaron's comment, because he worded it much
better than I was going to." Nikki smiled at him. "Anyone else? All right, let's pray." Hearing
everyone come together to support him in prayer calmed Blake's heart. Afterwards, the group split
up, some heading home, others chatting, still others heading up to the counter to get a sustaining
Caribou latte for the way home. Nikki finished talking with Lizzy, who was new, and then came
over to Blake. "So, how's life?" "Good. Busy. You?" "About the same. Oh, and my dad says to tell

A Brief Note On Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome Essay
Article 1
Post–traumatic stress syndrome
The question in this study was to identity the prognosticative nature of psychophysiological and
responses to cortisol when introduced to in a Virtual reality(VR) environment. The research was the
treatment of post–traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) outcomes in a population of combat veterans
from Operation Iraqi freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, in which objectives were measured
using a baseline cue–dependent physiological reaction. The 6 week design had 50 participates, in
which a double blind, placebo–controlled study with screening in the assessment was used as the
baseline. Hypothesizing that the subjects will respond best with the use of D–cycloserine.
All participants underwent the VR exposure with 30 minutes prior usage of either 50 mg of D–
cycloserine (DCS), 0.25mg of alprazolam(ALP), or a placebo. The VR was controlled by a
computer monitor, as the patient experienced the system through auditory, visual, olfactory, and
tactile stimulation. The therapist would present the stimuli that the patient would describe at the time
and monitor the anxiety levels.
The assessments were obtained by a specialist in PTSD, after the medications were out of the
patients systems. Outcome of the research noted that cortisol levels changed as to opposite
predications as in directional terms, time point differential and as well as in drug groups. Though the
cortisol levels where not concurrent due to factors, such as hormones

Describe My Favorite Place
Fresh out of college I moved to Steuben, Maine, right along the coast of Gouldsboro Bay. My dream
as a kid was always to move to Maine; the farthest place from America without actually leaving
America. I planned on working at my quiet accounting job for 30 years and retiring worry free,
alone, happy. But, you changed everything. I remember it clearly. I had left my quaint little house to
the coffee shop down the road. Being the only coffee shop for miles, it provided coffee for just about
everyone in town. Run by an elderly couple by the names and Rob and Eden, the words "Steuben
Coffee, Your Maine Place to Eat" hung high above the doors in clean white letters. Rob had made
every piece of furniture in there; dozens of tables, all shapes and sizes, beautiful chairs, elegantly
carved, and a large counter, with high seats for all the customers. Behind the counter you could see
Rob and Eden making coffee and their baked goods all day long, the smells hitting you every time
you walked in through the doors. This was my favorite place in all of Steuben. I looked around the
familiar room. Faces of neighbors, friends, people I've grown accustomed to seeing here every day.
All except one. A girl, sitting at the counter with her computer open and fingers typing away. I don't
remember walking over to her, but I remember talking to her. She turned towards me, and I caught
my breath. She was beautiful. With fair skin her amber eyes shone brightly. Her brown hair faded
into a blonde,

The Difficulty Of Producing One Definition Of Methodology
Clough and Nutbrown (2007, p.32) discuss the difficulty of producing one definition of
methodology, as every researcher will "offer slightly differing definitions according to their own
training, discipline and purposes." However, Burton, Brundrett and Jones (2014, p.6) provide a basic
overview, stating that methodology "focuses upon the identification of sources of evidence and how
such evidence might be gathered".
My research project will have a case study research design, which will lead to me gaining
qualitative data. Qualitative data, along with the case study design, ties in with my aims the most as

My sample will include between fifty and sixty, Year One and Two, pupils who will be observed in
the classroom. Additionally, my sample will also include between ten and twenty members of Key
Stage One staff, who I will informally interview about their views on attitudes towards learning in
Key Stage One.
The data collection methods that I have opted to use for my project, have all been specifically
chosen and designed to present me with the best chance of obtaining a detailed scope of data. One of
my data collection methods is informal interviews, which will, hopefully, give me an accurate
insight into the views of Key Stage One staff; who have experienced differing attitudes towards
learning. Informal interviews are most suited to my project as Fraenkel, Wallen and Hyun (2014,
p.449) discuss how informal interviews can resemble casual conversations whilst allowing the
researcher to "find out what people think and how the views of one individual compare with those of
another".
Another data collection method, that I have chosen, is observations of the pupils. Firstly, I will ask
the teacher of the class if any of the pupils have any learning difficulties, as Hannell (2014, pp.212–
215) raises the fact that learning difficulties and/or differences can have an immense effect on
attitudes towards learning. If any of the pupils have got any learning difficulties/differences, this

Influence Of Post-My Note On Students
[I use post–it notes on the students work. This way if the students have other work they want to turn
in or questions to answer then they can just stick the post–it note on the answers they are turning in.
Then I also have the original questions. I also realized the first few weeks of school that the students
do not respond well to writing on their work, even if it is positive. They feel any writing on their
work means they did not do well. I have found writing my comments on the post–it notes allows me
to write positive comments and ask questions of the students without them becoming defensive.]

A Report On The Industrial Segment
Being one of the largest companies in the world, one could assume 3M would be a lot to manage.
Organization is a key for the company. They are broken into 5 different segments: Industrial, Safety
and Graphics, Health Care; Electronics and Energy, and Consumer (See Appendix 2 for Organic
Growth Revenue of each Segment). This organization is a huge help for 3M to know who the base
target audience of each segment is, meaning they always know a general audience for each 5
segments. The industrial segment is made up of anything from automobile parts to industrial tapes.
One specific company that makes industrial tapes is a huge part of the 3M company. This company
is Scotch Tape. This is a great example of a way 3M has a company help them market a product as
well as both companies. Appendix 3 shows a great example of a Scotch Tape advertisement that also
benefits 3M. Even though the companies are technically connected, it is a great way to market them
as individual companies almost which brings focus not only to Scotch but to 3M as a whole. This
strategy can have satisfied customers know that 3M made the Scotch brand product, and make them
trust the 3M brand and want to buy more products from them. marketing for the product. 3M has
many companies they can do this with, and have proven that it is a great marketing strategy for
them. The next segment is the safety and graphics section. This segment primarily makes items that

Post Graduate College Student Analysis
Any college student will tell you that the only downside to learning is the homework. Sometimes the
homework can get overwhelming, to the point that you stress out and don't do it to your full
potential. I am in my second year, and I have learned with trial in error the main points that can and
will help make doing your homework a lot easier, and will help with your grade too. First and
foremost, organization is essential. Organize all your papers for one class in one folder, and have
separate folders for each class. There are also folder books that have six or more folders in one,
these work just as well. This will help in having all your important papers together, and will not

However, if your were like me weeks before I graduated, you were way to consumed with
everything else going on in life to go to the career development office for resume tips. So you
graduated and need a job, now what? Well first things first, you need a resume. The easiest and most
efficient resume for a post–graduate college student with limited experience is a functional resume.
Functional resumes rely on strategically grouping key skills into different categories to demonstrate
a candidate's qualifications and expertise for a particular job. This skills–based focus allows you to
emphasize your strengths and soft–pedal a flawed or absent employment record (i.e. working part–
time at the GAP, Burger King, and a bank all in two years). Creating a functional resume is simple
yet tends to be very time consuming. It is beneficial in the sense that it directs the reader to exactly
what you want them to notice, your skills that qualify you for the job you are applying for and
utilizes un–paid work experience to your advantage. This type of resume consists of four distinct
parts: contact information, skills, education, and work experience. Listed below is how to create a
resume that will stand out from the pack and get you that job you worked so hard in school for. Step
1: Outline everything you've done in college. This includes all classes, all extracurricular activities,
community service projects, and part–time jobs. Eliminate high school items because they serve no
reference to your abilities in a self–motivated world. Step 2: Group like tasks/ skills. This means if
in your history class you routinely lead the class in discussions and was on the debate team, lump
these skills all under communication skills. Step 3: Determine what the job is looking for. Please,

What Is 3m Corporation?
What is 3M Corporation?
Founded in 1902 in a little town on the shores of Lake Superior, 3M started out in the mining
business as the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company. Today, 3M is a multinational
powerhouse, with more than $20 billion in annual sales across a product line 50,000 deep, from
adhesives to optical film. It boasts 22,800 patents, many derived from its 15 percent program. The
program has been key to 3M 's business strategy and could be a model for other companies eager to
innovate. Says Kurt Beinlich, a technical director for 3M: "It 's really shaped what and who 3M is.
In today's business world, innovation is the mantra of success. For companies large and small, the
big winners are those that match new, marketable ideas with customers before anyone else can. It
takes flexibility and creativity and a willingness to risk. One hundred years ago, when 3M was
founded as Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing, the formula for business success was the same.
But for 3M, perseverance mattered even more. The multiple crises that rocked 3M a century ago
could have easily destroyed a young company in the 21st century.
Innovative companies provide forums for employees to pursue opportunities. For example, 3M
Corporation. This company was awarded the US government's highest award for innovation, the
National Medal of Technology. Over a 20–year period, 3M's gross margin averaged 51% and the
company's return on assets averaged 29%. 3M has consistently been highly ranked,

He knew they weren't there, but he checked anyway. He was pretty desperate now.
If his desk was a dangerous forest, then surely his car was the site of a nuclear detonation. He
remembered then that he had meant to clean it before the date.
Nathan threw all his rage into organizing. He might as well do it now, since the keys were nowhere
in sight. He collected wads of paper and wrappers from the floor and unearthed ancient artifacts
from beneath the seats. He even took time to straighten the glove–box.
When he stood back and looked at his work, he couldn't help but feel a little proud. At least, his
mother would be proud, he thought.
He was proud, that is, until the memory of his original task came back to smack him in the face.
He dashed back into the office, his mind blank of all places they could be.
"I still can't find them!"
"You spent a while out there, man. I thought you might have."
"No,"
He thought he'd take one last glance at his office. He was running out of time.
But as soon as he entered the cubicle, his eyes latched on to the very object he was looking for. The
way the bright metal reflected the buzzing fluorescent lights, at that moment, was beautiful indeed.
"Found 'em!" he shouted in triumph, holding the jingling key ring high above his head. The soothing
sounds those keys made was the finest of music.

Assignment Description Students will work in groups to read about and research the rainforest
during a habitat unit. They will read a magazine article that teaches about the animals and
characteristics of the rainforest. The article will also discuss the deconstruction of the rainforest and
why these rainforests are important to take care of. Students will read each section of the article and
highlight the key words that they believe are important to each section. Students will then record
these key words on their main idea graphic organizer which they will go back to after reading the
whole article. After reading the whole article the students will use the highlighted key words and the
text to develop a main idea statement to record. Students will then record three important facts from
each section and record these on sticky notes. Students will transfer these sticky notes onto their
group's main idea graphic organizer where these will serve as the supporting details. The group's
graphic organizer will serve as a scaffold for the four squares foldable each student will make. This
four square foldable will eventually be used by students to help guide them throughout their

Graduation Speech
Today is just another normal day in seventh grade. I get to my Christian school, open my locker, and
find all my stuff has been removed. There is a bright green post–it note that says "Get a life,
loser...And if you want your stuff back, have a fun time looking for it," I turn around when I hear
snickering that sounds all too familiar.
"Ha, ha, HA! There she is, the queen of the losers, Quinn! Wait, reality check, WHO NAMES
THEIR KID QUINN!" Another burst of laughter. I ball my fists and say:
"Where's my stuff, Amber,"
"Like I'd tell you!" The posse of "Popular" kids that follow Amber like dogs sashay away, leaving
me in the dust.
When my classes start, I have to attempt to explain how I misplaced ALL of my stuff. My teacher,

The next day my stuff is in my locker along with another green post–it note. "You were a mistake. A
big, ugly mistake." I crumple it up and stuff my backpack into my locker.
"Hey," A familiar voice says. I turn around to see Stacey, a "Popular" kid who is apparently Amber's
best friend.
"Umm hi," I say scared she's going to hurt me.
"I heard about yesterday, Amber is such a mean person." Amber is such a mean person! Finally,
someone who understands! I think excitedly. Wait... Something occurred to me.
"Are you tricking me?"
"No," Stacey replied. For some reason I knew I could trust her. "Listen," she says, now whispering,
"I have some dirt on Amber, like really bad stuff. We should totally tell everyone all her secrets,"
Suddenly a huge knot forms is my stomach.
"I have to go," I say running away.
That night, when I was going to bed, I get a text from an unknown number. The text said: "Amber
really doesn't have any friends. She knows it, but doesn't like to admit it. And she bullies people
because she thinks so lowly of herself. I'm one–hundred percent serious when I say she treats herself
like dirt." Amber? No friends. Everyone just pretends to be friends with her. And her royal highness
doesn't think she's good enough? I think, shocked. Another text appears on my phone, it said: "BTW
this is Stacey." Then another text: "I think we

Design For Environment, Manufacture And Assembly
School of Engineering TDS Appliances Ltd MNFG413 Design for Environment, Manufacture and
Assembly: 2016 Assignment 2: Design for Manufacture and Assembly SHUO WANG 201089902
Summary of DFE output from Ass. 1 (15%)*, DFE aims to reduce the environmental impacts
associated with products. In theory, this encompasses all the processes which occur during the
lifetime of the product, starting with the extraction of raw materials needed for parts of the product
and ending with the final disposal in landfills or through incineration. In between, a huge number of
processes take place even with the simplest of products, from refining the materials to production of
parts, assembly, packaging, distribution, use by the customer, possibly recycling, etc. In my opinion,
Design for Environment (DFE) methods and tools are umbrella term describing techniques used to
incorporate an environmental component into products and services before they enter the production
phase. In recent years, Design for Environment (DFE) has become more and more important for
companies. DFE seeks to find product innovations that will meet cost and performance objectives
while reducing pollution and waste throughout the lifecycle. In recent years, there has been a trend
towards the rapid development of DFE methods and tools. In the process of DFE analysis, it uses
four methods to analyse the design of coffeemaker, it includes MET, BIRCH, MACDONALD

A Short Note On Japan 's Express Post Service
Takuhaibin (Japan's express post service)
Takuhaibin or express post service is a postal service offered in Japan. In this essay, I will be
discussing based on research I have done, characteristics of the service that are offered that are not
offered by similar services in New Zealand as well as major Takuhaibin companies and future
development of the service. I will be supplying graphs and data to support these claims. Finally
concluding with my thoughts and opinions on the Takuhaibin system as well as how I think some of
the ideas that are being used by the Ta–Q–Ben system can further add to the courier system of New
Zealand. I will then talk about the future expansion and plans for the future of the Takuhaibin
system.

someone to post a package in the morning and get it delivered by the same day's evening excluding
Sunday as there is no postal service offered on Sunday in New Zealand. However, courier post in
New Zealand does not offer the various times (including Sunday) and items that can be delivered
which Takuhaibin offers its customers. Takuhaibin is although expanding into countries such as
Taiwan and France as well as parcels being able to be sent to most overseas countries from Japan.
In Japan, there are three major companies that supply the Takuhaibin system and one that focuses on
express post for business. These companies are Yamato transport with 46.3% of the market share,
followed by Sagawa express with 33.88% and Yu–pack with 11.9% (graph 1. Yamato transport LTD.

From the graph provided not only can you see that Yamato is the largest company but there is also a
steady increase of overall express packages getting sent rising by 500 million packages from 2005
till 2015. This graph also shows the growth of Yu–pack as well as the decline into nonexistence of
JP–express which use to be the third largest competitor among companies offering Takuhaibin. This
trend shows just how competitive the environment of Takuhaibin is in the Japanese market. This is

Why Post-Its?
Carmen Ramirez Dr. Lee English 1302– 7:30 am August 5, 2014 The Smallest Things Can Make A
Difference I have chosen to study "Post–Its (Notes on Marriage)" by Winnie Holzman and Paul
Dooley. This is a short drama in which a man and a woman go through some ups and downs in their
relationship and it is being told by the post–it notes they left for each other. I believe this piece of
literature is important because it shows the little details in a person's life and how they add up
together. It is a great example in how such few little details can add up to how much you love
someone. I have chosen this because I enjoy drama, character development, and it's ending. This is a
drama that may seem "basic" but it holds so much depth in it ... Show more content on

These characters grow as they suffer through marriage problems. When the woman leaves the man,
which lets him learn his mistakes and to be grateful for the things they had. He writes, "Things to
tell her. That I'm sorry. That I miss her. That all I want–all I ever wanted–is for her to be happy"
(Dooley and Holzman 3). The man has learned and developed into a greater human being. Third
reason I chose this was because it's a love story with a realistic happy ending. I am a sucker for
romance and honestly this hit the spot and made my heart feel all warm and fuzzy. The characters
grew old with each other. Isn't that what everyone hopes for in life? To find someone that will deal
with them until the day they die? Well they did. The man has the last post–it, in which he writes,
"You saved every Post–It I ever wrote you. I wish I'd saved yours. I could be reading them now.
(Beat.) Back soon. Going to the store. We need milk " (Dolley and Holzman 4). Ever lasting love is
shown in this post–it. This drama is touching to the heart as both the man and woman grow in their
relationship. It shows meaning to the fact that life goes on no matter what happens and that things
do get better. This story means so much because it shows that even through small communication so
much is said. People need to remember what it is like to communicate and to remember that in the
end it was all worth it. Works Cited Page Dooley, Paul, and Winnie Holzman. "Post–Its

A Brief Note On The Post Industrial Journalism
We believe that a similar dynamic is at work today, one we're calling post–industrial journalism. To
mean "Journalism no longer organized around the norms of proximity to the machinery of
production." Observers of the news industry today, state that reporters are people "doing more with
less" is the mantra of every publisher who's just laid off a dozen reporters and editors. However,
because the "with less" part is a forced move, we have to try to make the "doing more" part work,
which means less cynical press–release–speak about layoffs and more restructuring to take
advantage of new ways of doing journalism. Post–industrial journalism assumes that the existing
institutions are going to lose revenue and market share, and that if they hope to retain or even
increase their relevance, they will have to take advantage of new working methods and processes
afforded by digital media. There is too much emphasis on getting information fast, even at the
expense of accuracy, thoroughness and fairness. Among those who see values changing, there is a
broad consensus about the direction– and it is primarily negative. When asked to explain what they
meant, majorities of both groups appeared most worried about loosening standards (62% of
newspaper executives and 67% among broadcasters), and the bulk of these responses referred to a
decline in accuracy, a lessening of fact–checking, and more unsourced reporting.
That was followed by, and closely linked to, an emphasis on

Narrative Essay On Dementia
"Who are you?" This is a question I have heard ever since I was sixteen years old, and not from
strangers on the streets, from my very own mother. I was a teenager when my mother originally
developed Alzheimer's and then later, dementia. I can still recall the first time she ever asked me that
question. It was springtime, I know that because I had just come home from softball practice. I had
yet to take even five steps into the house when a shriek rang out. "Who are you?" My mother,
Elizabeth, yelled so loudly it attracted the attention of my father. I could do nothing else but stand
and stare at her. How was it possible that my own mother had forgotten not only my name, but also
my face? I did not know how to respond to her. Was this just some joke she was playing with me? ...

"Julia? What's wrong?" My father Thomas asked after entering the room. "I think I just forgot my

Of course, no one in our family knew what was going on. We were all just bewildered as to why she
could not remember who anybody was. Although, it was not like it just happened out of the blue; the
doctors informed us mother's memory had been deteriorating for a long time before the name
incident ever took place. No one thought anything of it when she just forgot her keys or a bag of
groceries out in the car. But of course we observed when she started forgetting who everyone was.
There was even a circumstance of my mother forgetting my younger brother, Timothy, at the
supermarket.
Mother and Timothy had gone to the supermarket for groceries, but when mother returned home
Timothy was not with her. Of course I noticed, but when I asked her where he was she could not

Improving Academic Engagement And Achievement Over Time
Methodology Participants This study took place within a rural public school within a tribal
education program housed in the local school district. The participants in this study included 7 high
school students in grades 11 and 12 who ranged in age from 16 to 18. The group consisted of 5 boys
and 2 girls. All of the students were Native American and were in my classroom. Procedure The
purpose of this study was to observe how building relationships in the educational environment
would improve academic engagement and achievement over time. I began my study in January
2014, starting with classroom observations as well as through student feedback and interviews.
Being a tribal government employee versus a school employee, I was able to go into the classrooms
as an observer to see how the students were interacting with peers as well as their teachers which
gave me a unique opportunity to gather data regarding student's classroom engagement. I then met
with each student to discuss their perception of their school experience as well as gave them ways to
provide feedback that they might think of after our discussion. The goal was to gain background
information regarding each student's experiences and needs as well as social capital available to
them so programs could be put into place that would help to enhance and build relationships that
would support them in their school experience. I also met with each of the student's teachers to gain
their perspective regarding each

Post It Note Commercial
Advertisement Analysis: Post–It Note Commercial The most dreaded question in a kid's life is, "Are
you ready to go back to school?" No kid wants to think about returning to the highly structured
societal institution of school after they have enjoyed a summer of freedom and adventures. If there
were any part of back–to–school season that made a child excited, it would be buying new supplies.
There is something about the fresh new tools that make a child feel like they can accomplish
anything they want with just a little effort and their nifty new notebook. Post–It inspires back–to–

After the young girl stuck the Post–It note to the backboard, the narrator in the background said,
"When you write something you're 42% more likely to make it happen." By saying this after the girl
hit the blackboard, they are implying that by the girl writing her goal on the Post–It note, it
contributed her success in achieving her goal. This makes the audience infer that Post–It notes will
also help them achieve their goals. The commercial points out that the Post–It notes have, "2x the
sticking power." Teachers will find this useful for class activities and keeping their things in tact
when dealing with kids. Additionally, parents will find the sticking power useful for when they leave
notes for their kids and don't have to worry about it falling off. Throughout the commercial, the little
girl was actually using the Post–It notes and showing how they stuck when she jumped and smacked
them on the wall. Seeing the product in action appeals to the viewer by proving the effectiveness of
the Post–It notes. By appealing to the logic of the back–to–school shoppers, Post–It effectively
advertises their products. The context, the use of pathos, and the use of logos all added to the appeal
of the Post–It commercial. Back to school would be a living nightmare if not for the inspiration and

A Short Note On Mr George Jensen Is Experiencing Post...
Pathophysiology of Hypovolaemia
Mr George Jensen is experiencing post–operative hypovolaemia from a right tibia and fibula
surgery, as a result of falling off the roof cleaning the gutters. It is therefore important to get an
understanding of what hypovolaemia is and the pathophysiology behind this condition before
treating the condition. According to Kettley and Marsh (2016), hypovolaemia is defined as
inadequate filling of blood or fluids within the body's circulatory system. Approximately one–third
of the total body fluid is distributed in the extracellular compartment, of which one–quarter resides
within the vasculature. Hypovolaemia can be divided into two separate categories, of which include
absolute hypovolaemia, and relative hypovolaemia. Absolute hypovolaemia is usually caused by
excessive fluid loss, such as blood loss from trauma or surgery, plasma loss from burns, or ECF loss
from diarrhoea and vomiting. Relative hypovolaemia occurs in sepsis and anaphylaxis, where total
body fluid content is high but the intravascular compartment is deplete (Kettley & Marsh, 2016). In
relation to this, Mr George Jensen would be suffering from absolute hypovolaemia, due to an open
reduction and external fixation of his fractures post surgery.
In hypovolaemia, there is a reduction in organ blood flow and oxygenation around the body due to a
lack of adequate circulatory volume, which, depending on the severity may lead to organ damage
(Kettley & Marsh, 2016). To compensate with

A Brief Note On Impressionism And Post Impressionism
IWT1 Task 1
Impressionism and Post Impressionism
By WGU student
In early 19th century, the French government controlled the Academies des Beaux–Arts and Salon
de Paris of paintings. The Academies were considered the ruling authority and held annual art
exhibits called salons. The salons featured works of art that conformed to their standards. In the
second half of the 19th century, Impressionism began which was a result of French artists rejecting
traditional government and their standards. In 1874, the first independent art exhibition was held. A
few of the famous artists' who participated and organizing this exhibition was Claude Monet, Berthe
Morisot and Pierre–Auguste Renior along with several other artists. This group of artists ... Show

In addition, the French government was experiencing other vast changes. For example, they changed
from absolute monarchy to an Expansionist Empire. Religious entities did not understand the new
age advancement in neither science nor the knowledge it brought to society. Besides, this innovative
scientific knowledge was not aligned with the ancient scriptures. The ultimate change that had a
profound influence on the artists of this time was the invention of photography. Photography
essentially freed painters to become more abstract with their subject matter and enhance their artistic
freedom.
On the other hand, the Post–Impressionism period began around 1880 and ended approximately
1910. The first person to coin the term "post–impressionism" was British artist and art critic, Roger
Fry. Fry played a big role in putting on the exhibition called "Manet and the Post–Impressionists" at
Gragron Gallery in London, which lasted from November 8, 1910 to January 15, 1911 (Voorhies,
2000). Some well known artists from this period were Vincent Van Gogh, George Seurat, and Paul
Cezanne. The post–impressionist artists focused on a different style of painting to express their
emotions. Instead of just mastering optical impressions they also used symbolism while alluding to
their deeper theme.
"Symbolic and highly personal meanings were particularly important to Post–Impressionists such as
Paul Gauguin and Vincent Van Gogh. Rejecting interest in

Accidental Inventions
"Accidental" discoveries are inventions that were discovered through no intention of discovery.
From the good to the bad these types of inventions have changed our lives forever. These types of
things are both things we use everyday, down to food people eat everyday.
Food is a necessity to live, but what will surprise you is that some of the food people today were all
"accidental" discoveries. Saccharin is an artificial sweetener people use to sweeten their food. This
was discovered in 1879 when Constantin Fahlberg was trying to find alternative use for coal tar and
forgot to wash his hands after work. The potato chip was invented by fed–up chef George Crum who
to teach an annoy customer a lesson sliced the potatoes thin, fried them and put salt on them, which
to his surprise the customer liked. When Coca Cola was discovered by pharmacist John Pemberton,
it was meant to be a medication, however as things would work out it is now a common soft drink
that will work out for any party. In an attempt to make his own soda pop 11–year–old Frank
Epperson combined powder and water stuck a stick in it and left it on the porch overnight and found
it the next morning still stuck to the stick. With a combination of a neighboring waffle stall and an
ice cream shall the cone was discovered. Will Kellogg accidently left bread dough out for several
hours and discovered it flaky, so he baked it and discovered Cornflakes.

My Sister Short Story
My big sister lives in the small town of Miacatlán, Mexico. A beautiful, Hispanic woman, Daniela
isn't related to me in a biological sense, but she has made just as much of an impact on my life as if
she was. As an inspiration, Daniela reminds me that "el error más común es la esperanza en vez de
hacer", or "the most common error is hoping rather than doing."
I met my sister in October of 2010. The moment Daniela strode through our front door, Rico, my
dog and doorbell, greeted her with slobbery kisses just as he greets my family. He must have felt the
same way the rest of us did upon meeting Daniela. For the next week, I would be my family's
translator, my years of Spanish classes being the only connection from my family to this orphan. I
used to have sleepovers all the time, but this one was different. The little girl I only knew from the
photo on the front entry table was now sharing my bed, both of us tucked up to the chin in my pink
polka dot sheets. We didn't make lists of the cutest boys in my grade or gush over One Direction,
which is what my usual sleepovers consisted of. Instead, we lay silent, completely aware of the
unspoken bond we were somehow forming. I was dying to know why Daniela had become an
orphan, but I didn't want to offend her by asking. Following a day of bringing her to Apple Jack's
Orchard and boating around Lake Minnetonka, Daniela and I found ourselves tucked back in my
bed where I finally gained the courage to ask her about her story. She told me she was a dancer.
Daniela was the youngest chosen Pequeño to travel to Minnesota where she would tour multiple
venues in the Twin Cities to perform her dance. Daniela told me that multiple hours of daily intense
dance practice was necessary to even have the honor of being selected to tour in the United States.
Thinking back to the time when I only knew her picture from the yearly godparent Christmas letter,
I thought Daniela would be a reserved, suffering girl. But the girl laying next to me was the
opposite. Passionate, jubilant and loving, we had more in common than I ever speculated. Daniela
fit into my family like a missing puzzle piece. As we dropped her off at the airport, tears filled my
eyes. I felt empty and lonely as I stumbled

Press 'n Peel What's the first words that come to your mind when you hear the word accident or

Penicillin, chocolate chip cookies, fireworks, and many other wonderful things we have today were

Unsupervised Transcription Of Piano Music
Unsupervised Transcription of Piano Music
MS Technical Paper

1. Motivation
Audio signal processing has been a very active research area. Automatic piano music transcription,
of all the tasks in this area, is an especially interesting and challenging one. There are many
examples of how this technique can contribute to our life. For instance, in today's music lessons and
tests, we often rely on people's hearing ability to judge whether a piano player performed well based
on whether the notes played are accurate or not. The process requires man–power and is not always
fair and accurate because people's judgement is subjective. If a good automatic transcription system
can be designed and implemented with high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To tackle this problem, source–separation techniques must be utilized.
2. Existing Approaches
In this section, we will discuss what has been done in this area of unsupervised music transcription.
Undoubtedly there are different aspects to this task. And different ways and techniques are used in
attempt to solve this problem efficiently and accurately. In an effort to provide a clear picture of
what has been done, we will categorize different approaches based on technique used.
The classic starting point for the problem of unsupervised piano transcription where the test
instrument is not seen during training, is a non–negative factorization of the acoustic signal's
spectrogram [1]. Most research work has been improving on this baseline in the one of the following
two ways: better modeling of the discrete musical structure of the piece being transcribed [2,3] or by
better adapting to the timbral properties of the source instrument [4,5].
Combining the above two approaches are difficult. Hidden Markov or semi–Markov models are
widely used as the standard approach to model discrete musical structures. This approach needs fast
dynamic programming for inference. To combine discrete models with timbral adaption and source
separation, it would break the conditional independence assumptions that dynamic programming
rely on. Previous research work to avoid this inference problem typically postpones detailed
modeling the discrete structure of timbre

In 1644 john Milton was attempting to preserve the books which were being destroyed through
censorship. He even said, "He who destroys a good book, kills reason itself" I agree with him.
The Government was pretty much censoring whatever they wanted and even arresting people who
didn't follow it exactly. And the Government was even invading people's privacy to check their
books and burning the books that weren't censored. John Milton, a writer himself, decided to take a
stand on what he believed was right and wrote an essay on his beliefs, along with proofs to back
himself up.
Milton was definitely against Censorship. I think he wanted to preserve the books and the ideas of
the people who wrote them. I also believe he wanted to see the book the way the person who wrote

Summary Of ' A Room ' Essay
Alone in a room. Quiet. Motionless. Suddenly she walks into a room, puts her blinding gold bag
down, and begins to pace. Back and forth. Back and forth. Is she angry? Upset? Confused? It is
possible. But take a closer look. Her face shows no sign of defeat. Instead, the girl is smiling, But
why? Then she stops dead in her tracks. Grabs her phone puts on headphones, then resumes pacing.
Back and forth. Only this time around she starts convulsing, with unusual jerking movements. To
the untrained eye, this girls looks as though she needs help. However, she is a star. What we don't
see is that in her mind she is dancing, smiling, performing, and all eyes are on her. Honestly, she can
dance, but if you were to watch her now she looks insane. In reality, though, when the music comes
on it is all her, she only wants to dance, because she misses it. If you happen to walk in on this it is
best to smile and back away calmly, because she is having the time of her life. Reliving old
memories, and aspiring to create new ones. What a great story. Dancing. Old memories. At first
glance you would possibly think that this story is about memories, inspiration, a hidden talent
maybe? Sadly no. This story is going nowhere near that. Soon after wearing herself out the girl
proceeds to grab her laptop and leaps onto the bed grasping for anything to hoist herself up. Once
she is situated, all she can do is stare at the bright screen, and Blink. A few ideas are tossed around

Kanye: Social Media Analysis
Kris Jenner was on the Ellen DeGeneres show recently, and the subject of her son–in–law Kanye
West was mentioned along with his Twitter posts. Kris Jenner believes that Kanye should think
before he tweets, Radar Online, March 1, 2016 reported.
Ellen DeGeneres addressed the issue of Kanye and his posts on Twitter where he bashed people for
not liking his clothing line or music, to pleading poverty and asking for money. Ellen wanted to
touch on the issue briefly; however, Kris believed that when a person talks about Kanye, it is never
brief.
"I don't think you can ever talk about Kanye briefly. Do you?"
Ellen wondered what Kris's thoughts were on Kanye and his Twitter post and if there was a way to
stop him from posting his remarks.
Kris Jenner admitted that she should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By doing that, they can stop him from posting things that may not come out the way he meant them
to.
The example that Kris Jenner and Ellen DeGeneres touched on was the post where he mentioned
that he was $53 million in debt. According to Kris, that was not what he meant t and she had a
logical explanation of what he really wanted it to sound like.
"Sometimes I feel like what he's really trying to say [about being $53 million in debt] is that's what
he's done to spend on his clothing line over the last 15 or 20 years. But it comes out not exactly the
right way and then people get it misconstrued."
Misconstrued or not, Kanye did ask Mark Zuckerberg to invest $1 billion into "Kanye's ideas."
However, his tweet sparked his fans enough to start a GoFundMe page for Kanye to help him out of
debt.
The site received over $7,000 for the in–debt rapper/fashion line designer, but Kanye refused to
accept the money. According to WDBJ 7, the page was set up by Jeremy Piatt, but he was contacted
approximately 10 days later, from Kanye's team to inform him that Kanye refused the

Pre–reading Reading: "3M Post–It Notes: A Managed or Accidental Innovation?"
As you read this case story, think about the following two questions: 1. What were the critical
factors that enabled 3M Post–it Notes to be successfully commercialized and what can we
generalize about managing the innovation process from this case history? 2. What were the critical
roles performed by some of the key individuals, including Silver, Oliveira, Nicholson, Fry, and
Ramey?

control the amounts of interacting ingredients to very tightly defined proportions, in accordance with
prevailing theory and experience. Silver said with a certain measure of glee, "The key to the Postit
adhesive was doing the experiment. If I had sat down and factored it out beforehand, and thought
about it, I wouldn't have done the experiment. If I had limited my thinking only to what the
literature said, I would have stopped. The literature was full of examples that said you can't do this."
Highly regarded publications and experts would have told Silver there was no point in doing what
he did. But Silver understood that science is one part meticulous calculation and one part fooling
around. "People like myself," said Silver, "get excited about looking for new properties in materials.
I find that very satisfying, to perturb the structure slightly and just see what happens. I have a hard
time talking people into doing that–people who are more highly trained. It's been my experience that
people are reluctant just to try, to experiment–just to see what will happen!" When Silver went
ahead with the "wrong" proportions of the ADM monomers, just to see what would happen, he got a
reaction that departed from the predictions of theory. It

Changes in credit ratings
As stated in 3M's 2015 report, it was given an Aa3 credit rating (negative rating) by Moody's

I didn't know what third place meant when my professor told me and my classmates that our first essay is about a third place. I asked myself "What is a third place?" What is the purpose of a third place? What kind of sources do I need to be researching for it? When I read a book by Ray Oldenburg "The Great Good Place: Cafes, Coffee Shops, Bookstores, Bars, Hair Salons, and other Hangouts as the Heart of a Community" it talked about what is a third place and how can you tell what is third place to other people or yourself. After reading Ray Oldenburg's book I understood that third place is an a place that is not your home or your work, it is a place that you spend your time the third most. I think Big Al's would be the best third place for me because I love bowling and I used to go to bowling once a week before I got my job. Big Al's is a great place for me to be a third place as a home away home because I always have fun in there when I go there with my friends, family, or cousins. • 5. The Best Of Times: A Short Story It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Actually, scratch that first bit. There was no way, considering the way my summer had been going so far, that it could ever be considered the best of times. I mean, I was sure a certain someone (that 'certain someone' being my arch nemesis, Jasmine) out there was having the time of their life, lazily basking in the sun by a pool glittering with the rays of the sun atop a luxurious Caribbean–bound cruise, a cool drink complete with a paper parasol by their side. Unfortunately, not all of us were living the high life just yet. For one, in an attempt to shield myself from the day's spell of muggy, enervating heat, I had glued myself to the small fan in my room. I tried not to think about how today marked the eighteenth day in a row without ice cream or sufficiently cool beverages, and how at this moment, Jasmine was probably choosing between a mimosa and a glass of crisp, refreshing limeade. Too late. The very thought of Jasmine knocking back a dinky champagne flute filled with liquid the colour of goldenrod was enough to make me want to wail in frustration. All I had in my hands was the cap of a biro I'd stolen from my sister the previous day. The main reason – well, the second main reason, after my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 7. Literary Analysis Of The Academic Bowl By E. L. Konigsburg At the beginning of the novel, the author, E.L. Konigsburg, sets up the story at a state Academic Bowl. The academic bowl takes place on a Saturday in May. The author first introduces us to Mrs. Olinski, a sixth grade teacher at Epiphany Middle School. We also meet her academic bowl team, The Souls. Next, Konigsburg introduces us to a sixth grader, Noah Gershom. Noah often uses sarcasm to make his point. Fact: Noah Gershom loves facts. Currently, there are only two teams left in the Bowl, Epiphany and Maxwell. The state superintendent asks a question about the meaning of calligraphy, and Noah buzzes in. Using a pun, Konigsburg relates Noah being the first chosen to answer the question to him being the first chosen for the team. The question about calligraphy ... Therefore, Noah's Grandpa drove them to a local art store to buy Noah a calligraphy pen and a bottle of ink. Now that Noah had his own calligraphy pen, Tillie showed him how to write with one. She also showed him the six tedious steps you have to complete before you start writing. Everything was going fine with the invitations until the cat knocked down the bottle of ink, and stepped on five of the invitations. Therefore, Noah went and bought Post–it notes to stick on top of the ruined part of the invitations. On the sticky notes he wrote that whoever had the paw print on their invitation could claim their prize at the wedding. Noah didn't know what the prizes were yet. Now, wedding day came around and the cake was finished and ready to be delivered. Here Konigsburg uses foreshadowing to show that something is going to happen to the cake. He slumped in his chair. "I guess I won't be able to work with you then, sir. I don't want the notoriety that could come." The owner winced. Blake left the stuffy office and walked out to his car. This had been his dream for so long, it almost physically hurt to see it slip away. He looked at his watch, registered the time, and ran up the stairs – two at a time – to grab a clean shirt and some deodorant before small group. "Does anyone have any prayer requests or praises tonight?" Nikki asked. "Perseverance and patience in my work," said Jaime. "It's been pretty hard lately, and there's some big stuff going on, so, yeah, thanks!" "I do too. I can't give details, but I'd like prayer in a major decision, and praise that I've been given this opportunity." Blake chuckled. "I'd like to second Aaron's comment, because he worded it much better than I was going to." Nikki smiled at him. "Anyone else? All right, let's pray." Hearing everyone come together to support him in prayer calmed Blake's heart. Afterwards, the group split up, some heading home, others chatting, still others heading up to the counter to get a sustaining Caribou latte for the way home. A Brief Note On Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome Essay Article 1 Post–traumatic stress syndrome The question in this study was to identity the prognosticative nature of psychophysiological and responses to cortisol when introduced to in a Virtual reality(VR) environment. The research was the treatment of post–traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) outcomes in a population of combat veterans from Operation Iraqi freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, in which objectives were measured using a baseline cue–dependent physiological reaction. The 6 week design had 50 participates, in which a double blind, placebo–controlled study with screening in the assessment was used as the baseline. Hypothesizing that the subjects will respond best with the use of D–cycloserine. All participants underwent the VR exposure with 30 minutes prior usage of either 50 mg of D– cycloserine (DCS), 0.25mg of alprazolam(ALP), or a placebo. The VR was controlled by a computer monitor, as the patient experienced the system through auditory, visual, olfactory, and tactile stimulation. The therapist would present the stimuli that the patient would describe at the time and monitor the anxiety levels. The assessments were obtained by a specialist in PTSD, after the medications were out of the patients systems. Outcome of the research noted that cortisol levels changed as to opposite predications as in directional terms, time point differential and as well as in drug groups. My dream as a kid was always to move to Maine; the farthest place from America without actually leaving America. I planned on working at my quiet accounting job for 30 years and retiring worry free, alone, happy. But, you changed everything. I remember it clearly. I had left my quaint little house to the coffee shop down the road. Being the only coffee shop for miles, it provided coffee for just about everyone in town. Run by an elderly couple by the names and Rob and Eden, the words "Steuben Coffee, Your Maine Place to Eat" hung high above the doors in clean white letters. Rob had made every piece of furniture in there; dozens of tables, all shapes and sizes, beautiful chairs, elegantly carved, and a large counter, with high seats for all the customers. Behind the counter you could see Rob and Eden making coffee and their baked goods all day long, the smells hitting you every time you walked in through the doors. This was my favorite place in all of Steuben. I looked around the familiar room. Faces of neighbors, friends, people I've grown accustomed to seeing here every day. All except one. A girl, sitting at the counter with her computer open and fingers typing away. I don't remember walking over to her, but I remember talking to her. She turned towards me, and I caught my breath. She was beautiful. With fair skin her amber eyes shone brightly. Her brown hair faded into a blonde, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Difficulty Of Producing One Definition Of Methodology Clough and Nutbrown (2007, p.32) discuss the difficulty of producing one definition of methodology, as every researcher will "offer slightly differing definitions according to their own training, discipline and purposes." However, Burton, Brundrett and Jones (2014, p.6) provide a basic overview, stating that methodology "focuses upon the identification of sources of evidence and how such evidence might be gathered". My research project will have a case study research design, which will lead to me gaining qualitative data. The data collection methods that I have opted to use for my project, have all been specifically chosen and designed to present me with the best chance of obtaining a detailed scope of data. One of my data collection methods is informal interviews, which will, hopefully, give me an accurate insight into the views of Key Stage One staff; who have experienced differing attitudes towards learning. Informal interviews are most suited to my project as Fraenkel, Wallen and Hyun (2014, p.449) discuss how informal interviews can resemble casual conversations whilst allowing the researcher to "find out what people think and how the views of one individual compare with those of another". Another data collection method, that I have chosen, is observations of the pupils. Firstly, I will ask the teacher of the class if any of the pupils have any learning difficulties, as Hannell (2014, pp.212– 215) raises the fact that learning difficulties and/or differences can have an immense effect on attitudes towards learning. I am in my second year, and I have learned with trial in error the main points that can and will help make doing your homework a lot easier, and will help with your grade too. First and foremost, organization is essential. Organize all your papers for one class in one folder, and have separate folders for each class. However, if your were like me weeks before I graduated, you were way to consumed with everything else going on in life to go to the career development office for resume tips. So you graduated and need a job, now what? Well first things first, you need a resume. The easiest and most efficient resume for a post–graduate college student with limited experience is a functional resume. Functional resumes rely on strategically grouping key skills into different categories to demonstrate a candidate's qualifications and expertise for a particular job. This skills–based focus allows you to emphasize your strengths and soft–pedal a flawed or absent employment record (i.e. working part– time at the GAP, Burger King, and a bank all in two years). Creating a functional resume is simple yet tends to be very time consuming. It is beneficial in the sense that it directs the reader to exactly what you want them to notice, your skills that qualify you for the job you are applying for and utilizes un–paid work experience to your advantage. This type of resume consists of four distinct parts: contact information, skills, education, and work experience. Listed below is how to create a resume that will stand out from the pack and get you that job you worked so hard in school for. Step 1: Outline everything you've done in college. This includes all classes, all extracurricular activities, community service projects, and part–time jobs. Eliminate high school items because they serve no reference to your abilities in a self–motivated world. Step 2: Group like tasks/ skills. Founded in 1902 in a little town on the shores of Lake Superior, 3M started out in the mining business as the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company. Today, 3M is a multinational powerhouse, with more than $20 billion in annual sales across a product line 50,000 deep, from adhesives to optical film. It boasts 22,800 patents, many derived from its 15 percent program. The program has been key to 3M 's business strategy and could be a model for other companies eager to innovate. Says Kurt Beinlich, a technical director for 3M: "It 's really shaped what and who 3M is. In today's business world, innovation is the mantra of success. For companies large and small, the big winners are those that match new, marketable ideas with customers before anyone else can. It takes flexibility and creativity and a willingness to risk. One hundred years ago, when 3M was founded as Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing, the formula for business success was the same. But for 3M, perseverance mattered even more. The multiple crises that rocked 3M a century ago could have easily destroyed a young company in the 21st century. Innovative companies provide forums for employees to pursue opportunities. For example, 3M Corporation. This company was awarded the US government's highest award for innovation, the National Medal of Technology. Design For Environment, Manufacture And Assembly School of Engineering TDS Appliances Ltd MNFG413 Design for Environment, Manufacture and Assembly: 2016 Assignment 2: Design for Manufacture and Assembly SHUO WANG 201089902 Summary of DFE output from Ass. 1 (15%)*, DFE aims to reduce the environmental impacts associated with products. In theory, this encompasses all the processes which occur during the lifetime of the product, starting with the extraction of raw materials needed for parts of the product and ending with the final disposal in landfills or through incineration. In between, a huge number of processes take place even with the simplest of products, from refining the materials to production of parts, assembly, packaging, distribution, use by the customer, possibly recycling, etc. In my opinion, Design for Environment (DFE) methods and tools are umbrella term describing techniques used to incorporate an environmental component into products and services before they enter the production phase. In recent years, Design for Environment (DFE) has become more and more important for companies. DFE seeks to find product innovations that will meet cost and performance objectives while reducing pollution and waste throughout the lifecycle. This is a short drama in which a man and a woman go through some ups and downs in their relationship and it is being told by the post–it notes they left for each other. It is a great example in how such few little details can add up to how much you love someone. I have chosen this because I enjoy drama, character development, and it's ending. This is a drama that may seem "basic" but it holds so much depth in it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These characters grow as they suffer through marriage problems. When the woman leaves the man, which lets him learn his mistakes and to be grateful for the things they had. He writes, "Things to tell her. That I'm sorry. That I miss her. That all I want–all I ever wanted–is for her to be happy" (Dooley and Holzman 3). The man has learned and developed into a greater human being. Third reason I chose this was because it's a love story with a realistic happy ending. I am a sucker for romance and honestly this hit the spot and made my heart feel all warm and fuzzy. The characters grew old with each other. Isn't that what everyone hopes for in life? To find someone that will deal with them until the day they die? Well they did. The man has the last post–it, in which he writes, "You saved every Post–It I ever wrote you. I wish I'd saved yours. I could be reading them now. (Beat.) Back soon. Going to the store. We need milk " (Dolley and Holzman 4). Ever lasting love is shown in this post–it. This drama is touching to the heart as both the man and woman grow in their relationship. It shows meaning to the fact that life goes on no matter what happens and that things do get better. This story means so much because it shows that even through small communication so much is said. People need to remember what it is like to communicate and to remember that in the end it was all worth it. Works Cited Page Dooley, Paul, and Winnie Holzman. "Post–Its ... • 48. A Brief Note On The Post Industrial Journalism We believe that a similar dynamic is at work today, one we're calling post–industrial journalism. To mean "Journalism no longer organized around the norms of proximity to the machinery of production." Observers of the news industry today, state that reporters are people "doing more with less" is the mantra of every publisher who's just laid off a dozen reporters and editors. However, because the "with less" part is a forced move, we have to try to make the "doing more" part work, which means less cynical press–release–speak about layoffs and more restructuring to take advantage of new ways of doing journalism. Post–industrial journalism assumes that the existing institutions are going to lose revenue and market share, and that if they hope to retain or even increase their relevance, they will have to take advantage of new working methods and processes afforded by digital media. There is too much emphasis on getting information fast, even at the expense of accuracy, thoroughness and fairness. Among those who see values changing, there is a broad consensus about the direction– and it is primarily negative. When asked to explain what they meant, majorities of both groups appeared most worried about loosening standards (62% of newspaper executives and 67% among broadcasters), and the bulk of these responses referred to a decline in accuracy, a lessening of fact–checking, and more unsourced reporting. • 50. Narrative Essay On Dementia "Who are you?" This is a question I have heard ever since I was sixteen years old, and not from strangers on the streets, from my very own mother. I was a teenager when my mother originally developed Alzheimer's and then later, dementia. I can still recall the first time she ever asked me that question. It was springtime, I know that because I had just come home from softball practice. I had yet to take even five steps into the house when a shriek rang out. "Who are you?" My mother, Elizabeth, yelled so loudly it attracted the attention of my father. I could do nothing else but stand and stare at her. How was it possible that my own mother had forgotten not only my name, but also my face? I did not know how to respond to her. Was this just some joke she was playing with me? ... "I am extremely sorry Julia. I don't know what happened." Of course, no one in our family knew what was going on. We were all just bewildered as to why she could not remember who anybody was. Although, it was not like it just happened out of the blue; the doctors informed us mother's memory had been deteriorating for a long time before the name incident ever took place. No one thought anything of it when she just forgot her keys or a bag of groceries out in the car. But of course we observed when she started forgetting who everyone was. There was even a circumstance of my mother forgetting my younger brother, Timothy, at the supermarket. Mother and Timothy had gone to the supermarket for groceries, but when mother returned home Timothy was not with her. Of course I noticed, but when I asked her where he was she could not recollect that he had even left with her. "Timothy went with you to the store," I delicately informed her. Improving Academic Engagement And Achievement Over Time Methodology Participants This study took place within a rural public school within a tribal education program housed in the local school district. The participants in this study included 7 high school students in grades 11 and 12 who ranged in age from 16 to 18. The group consisted of 5 boys and 2 girls. All of the students were Native American and were in my classroom. Procedure The purpose of this study was to observe how building relationships in the educational environment would improve academic engagement and achievement over time. I began my study in January 2014, starting with classroom observations as well as through student feedback and interviews. Being a tribal government employee versus a school employee, I was able to go into the classrooms as an observer to see how the students were interacting with peers as well as their teachers which gave me a unique opportunity to gather data regarding student's classroom engagement. I then met with each student to discuss their perception of their school experience as well as gave them ways to provide feedback that they might think of after our discussion. The goal was to gain background information regarding each student's experiences and needs as well as social capital available to them so programs could be put into place that would help to enhance and build relationships that would support them in their school experience. No kid wants to think about returning to the highly structured societal institution of school after they have enjoyed a summer of freedom and adventures. If there were any part of back–to–school season that made a child excited, it would be buying new supplies. There is something about the fresh new tools that make a child feel like they can accomplish anything they want with just a little effort and their nifty new notebook. Post–It inspires back–to– school shoppers to achieve their goals with their products through the use of pathos and logos. Post– It airing the commercial at the end of the summer made it ... After the young girl stuck the Post–It note to the backboard, the narrator in the background said, "When you write something you're 42% more likely to make it happen." By saying this after the girl hit the blackboard, they are implying that by the girl writing her goal on the Post–It note, it contributed her success in achieving her goal. This makes the audience infer that Post–It notes will also help them achieve their goals. The commercial points out that the Post–It notes have, "2x the sticking power." Teachers will find this useful for class activities and keeping their things in tact when dealing with kids. Additionally, parents will find the sticking power useful for when they leave notes for their kids and don't have to worry about it falling off. Throughout the commercial, the little girl was actually using the Post–It notes and showing how they stuck when she jumped and smacked them on the wall. Seeing the product in action appeals to the viewer by proving the effectiveness of the Post–It notes. By appealing to the logic of the back–to–school shoppers, Post–It effectively advertises their products. The context, the use of pathos, and the use of logos all added to the appeal of the Post–It commercial. Pathophysiology of Hypovolaemia Mr George Jensen is experiencing post–operative hypovolaemia from a right tibia and fibula surgery, as a result of falling off the roof cleaning the gutters. It is therefore important to get an understanding of what hypovolaemia is and the pathophysiology behind this condition before treating the condition. According to Kettley and Marsh (2016), hypovolaemia is defined as inadequate filling of blood or fluids within the body's circulatory system. Approximately one–third of the total body fluid is distributed in the extracellular compartment, of which one–quarter resides within the vasculature. Hypovolaemia can be divided into two separate categories, of which include absolute hypovolaemia, and relative hypovolaemia. Absolute hypovolaemia is usually caused by excessive fluid loss, such as blood loss from trauma or surgery, plasma loss from burns, or ECF loss from diarrhoea and vomiting. Relative hypovolaemia occurs in sepsis and anaphylaxis, where total body fluid content is high but the intravascular compartment is deplete (Kettley & Marsh, 2016). In relation to this, Mr George Jensen would be suffering from absolute hypovolaemia, due to an open reduction and external fixation of his fractures post surgery. In hypovolaemia, there is a reduction in organ blood flow and oxygenation around the body due to a lack of adequate circulatory volume, which, depending on the severity may lead to organ damage (Kettley & Marsh, 2016). A Brief Note On Impressionism And Post Impressionism IWT1 Task 1 Impressionism and Post Impressionism By WGU student In early 19th century, the French government controlled the Academies des Beaux–Arts and Salon de Paris of paintings. The Academies were considered the ruling authority and held annual art exhibits called salons. The salons featured works of art that conformed to their standards. In the second half of the 19th century, Impressionism began which was a result of French artists rejecting traditional government and their standards. In 1874, the first independent art exhibition was held. Religious entities did not understand the new age advancement in neither science nor the knowledge it brought to society. Besides, this innovative scientific knowledge was not aligned with the ancient scriptures. The ultimate change that had a profound influence on the artists of this time was the invention of photography. Photography essentially freed painters to become more abstract with their subject matter and enhance their artistic freedom. On the other hand, the Post–Impressionism period began around 1880 and ended approximately 1910. The first person to coin the term "post–impressionism" was British artist and art critic, Roger Fry. Fry played a big role in putting on the exhibition called "Manet and the Post–Impressionists" at Gragron Gallery in London, which lasted from November 8, 1910 to January 15, 1911 (Voorhies, 2000). Some well known artists from this period were Vincent Van Gogh, George Seurat, and Paul Cezanne. The post–impressionist artists focused on a different style of painting to express their emotions. Instead of just mastering optical impressions they also used symbolism while alluding to their deeper theme. "Symbolic and highly personal meanings were particularly important to Post–Impressionists such as Paul Gauguin and Vincent Van Gogh. Rejecting interest in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the good to the bad these types of inventions have changed our lives forever. These types of things are both things we use everyday, down to food people eat everyday. Food is a necessity to live, but what will surprise you is that some of the food people today were all "accidental" discoveries. Saccharin is an artificial sweetener people use to sweeten their food. This was discovered in 1879 when Constantin Fahlberg was trying to find alternative use for coal tar and forgot to wash his hands after work. The potato chip was invented by fed–up chef George Crum who to teach an annoy customer a lesson sliced the potatoes thin, fried them and put salt on them, which to his surprise the customer liked. When Coca Cola was discovered by pharmacist John Pemberton, it was meant to be a medication, however as things would work out it is now a common soft drink that will work out for any party. In an attempt to make his own soda pop 11–year–old Frank Epperson combined powder and water stuck a stick in it and left it on the porch overnight and found it the next morning still stuck to the stick. With a combination of a neighboring waffle stall and an ice cream shall the cone was discovered. A beautiful, Hispanic woman, Daniela isn't related to me in a biological sense, but she has made just as much of an impact on my life as if she was. As an inspiration, Daniela reminds me that "el error más común es la esperanza en vez de hacer", or "the most common error is hoping rather than doing." I met my sister in October of 2010. The moment Daniela strode through our front door, Rico, my dog and doorbell, greeted her with slobbery kisses just as he greets my family. He must have felt the same way the rest of us did upon meeting Daniela. For the next week, I would be my family's translator, my years of Spanish classes being the only connection from my family to this orphan. I used to have sleepovers all the time, but this one was different. The little girl I only knew from the photo on the front entry table was now sharing my bed, both of us tucked up to the chin in my pink polka dot sheets. We didn't make lists of the cutest boys in my grade or gush over One Direction, which is what my usual sleepovers consisted of. Instead, we lay silent, completely aware of the unspoken bond we were somehow forming. I was dying to know why Daniela had become an orphan, but I didn't want to offend her by asking. Following a day of bringing her to Apple Jack's Orchard and boating around Lake Minnetonka, Daniela and I found ourselves tucked back in my bed where I finally gained the courage to ask her about her story. She told me she was a dancer. Daniela was the youngest chosen Pequeño to travel to Minnesota where she would tour multiple venues in the Twin Cities to perform her dance. Daniela told me that multiple hours of daily intense dance practice was necessary to even have the honor of being selected to tour in the United States. Thinking back to the time when I only knew her picture from the yearly godparent Christmas letter, I thought Daniela would be a reserved, suffering girl. But the girl laying next to me was the opposite. Passionate, jubilant and loving, we had more in common than I ever speculated. Daniela fit into my family like a missing puzzle piece. Motivation Audio signal processing has been a very active research area. Automatic piano music transcription, of all the tasks in this area, is an especially interesting and challenging one. There are many examples of how this technique can contribute to our life. For instance, in today's music lessons and tests, we often rely on people's hearing ability to judge whether a piano player performed well based on whether the notes played are accurate or not. The process requires man–power and is not always fair and accurate because people's judgement is subjective. If a good automatic transcription system can be designed and implemented with high ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To tackle this problem, source–separation techniques must be utilized. 2. Existing Approaches In this section, we will discuss what has been done in this area of unsupervised music transcription. Undoubtedly there are different aspects to this task. And different ways and techniques are used in attempt to solve this problem efficiently and accurately. In an effort to provide a clear picture of what has been done, we will categorize different approaches based on technique used. The classic starting point for the problem of unsupervised piano transcription where the test instrument is not seen during training, is a non–negative factorization of the acoustic signal's spectrogram [1]. Most research work has been improving on this baseline in the one of the following two ways: better modeling of the discrete musical structure of the piece being transcribed [2,3] or by better adapting to the timbral properties of the source instrument [4,5]. Combining the above two approaches are difficult. Hidden Markov or semi–Markov models are widely used as the standard approach to model discrete musical structures. This approach needs fast dynamic programming for inference. To combine discrete models with timbral adaption and source separation, it would break the conditional independence assumptions that dynamic programming rely on. Previous research work to avoid this inference problem typically postpones detailed modeling the discrete structure of timbre

He even said, "He who destroys a good book, kills reason itself" I agree with him. The Government was pretty much censoring whatever they wanted and even arresting people who didn't follow it exactly. And the Government was even invading people's privacy to check their books and burning the books that weren't censored. John Milton, a writer himself, decided to take a stand on what he believed was right and wrote an essay on his beliefs, along with proofs to back himself up. Milton was definitely against Censorship. I think he wanted to preserve the books and the ideas of the people who wrote them. I also believe he wanted to see the book the way the person who wrote it wished it to be seen. People's names were even being censored out of the books.
