Plan/Ideas for the photography that will be included in my music magazine.

2. The main image of the cover will be of a female character on her own or with
a fellow band member (also female) wearing young, grungy clothing
out in the open looking relaxed/facing away from the camera so you
can see the location. The photos will not be taken in the studio but
outdoors in an abandoned, eerie sort of location, e.g. an alleyway,
tunnel or road. Because the shoot is outside, I am hoping that the
images that we take will be relaxed and casual, so to reflect the
attitudes of young people and to help relate to the audience and invite
them to read the magazine. I want the character(s) to have a
mysterious edge to them and to be alluring into way they do/don’t use
direct address. The shots will be either a long shot or a medium shot so
the location can be seen but the subjects are still recognisable.
This main image will be the only image featured on the front cover of the
magazine, but I will use brightly coloured plugs, sub-headings in
interesting fonts and buzz words to attract the readers of the magazine.
I have decided to do this as I want to show off as much of the cover
image as I can whilst also keeping that interest in the actual articles
themselves and not just the imagery. Using the compelling headings to
make the reader want to look inside for the photography.

3. The contents page of the magazine needs to be interesting and eye-catching
but still organised and easy to read. For the photography I plan to have
only a single figure in the photograph, again in an outdoor location (to
maintain the idea of being young and free), that is a medium/long shot of
one of the other artists features in the magazine. Their costume will be
simple but casual, not too many layers or patterns as I want the focus to
be on their body language, facial expressions and location.
This image will not be the only image on the page. Two/three other
photographs will also be used as visual aids to some of the sub-headings
on the contents page, for example a picture of a band next to their name
or the cover of a new album cover that is mentioned. Also, to keep the
magazine varied it will contain other subjects, such as some fashion and
photography elements, therefore images of people taking pictures and
more editorial photographs may be used to help amplify the interest. This
will help the audience to understand what is going to be talked about in
the magazine and intrigue the reader into finding out about the subjects.
A lot of the photography that is going to be in the magazine is medium/long
shots of the models, and this is to show a sort of fashion element into the
magazine, enabling to show some of the latest trends and also to keep
the magazine sophisticated enough to be different and yet still intriguing
to the young generation and fans of the genre (Pop.)

4. The double page spread will only have one image present on one of the
two pages, taking up nearly an entire half of the double page
spread. It will be a medium/close up shot of a female artist who is
using direct address into the camera to allure the audience and
attract to their imagination, wondering why she has the current facial
expression and what she will be thinking about. Using this close up
image of the artist will also help to indicate that the article will be
about her and contain information about her.
Her costume will be simple but have some accessories because not a lot
of her outfit will be shown, however her makeup will be quite bold as
this is the main detail that the image will contain.
In order to take a picture so that it only takes up one of the pages from
the spread, the photograph will be taken landscape with the artist on
the right had side, as this is also the page that you will see first once
you open the magazine, drawing the reader into the artists gaze and
making them want to find out what the article will be featuring about
her. This image will also be taken in an outdoor location so that the
rest of the background for the article and text will be showing the
rest of the set that can be seen in the background, therefore also
keeping the continuity and theme within my magazine.
