resulting in greater visibility, branding of distinguishing characteristics and
patient pull through. Responsibilities have included but were not limited to
being the manager of high impact special events, serving as principal writer
of copy for collaterals as well as online promotions (social media), print and
electronic advertising, press releases as well as the recruitment and
training of marketing/communications personnel, media management,
recruitment and management of advertising agencies, strategic mar/com
planning, relationship marketing, media coaching and community outreach.

Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, Vice President of
Marketing, West Islip, New York 1994 – 1998
Strengthened Hospital's brand advantage and created daily exposure for
positive attributes of this hospital. Focus was on ambulatory care
capabilities and Centers of Excellence. Responsibilities included managing a
9 person staff in the areas of media, advertising, special events, collateral
materials, community relations and fund raising. Served as principal writer
for hospital as well as media coach for other executives.

1990 – 1994
Built hospital's credibility in the community, created visibility for segments
of hospital care, created and directed a guest relations program for hospital
staff, managed small (3 person) staff. Primary writer for advertisements
(print and electronic), press releases, collateral materials. Also
conceptualized and created special events.
Deputy Mayor, City of Newark 1986 – 1990
Built city's cultural affairs portfolio during Mayor Sharpe James’ first term.
Helped to bring recognition to art institutions in the city. Served as
emissary and special event coordinator for visiting dignitaries from all over
the world. Represented Mayor at events and on a variety of boards and
committees including Sister Cities, NJ State Opera, Newark Museum, OMTI,
Newark Public Library, etc.
