Stanley Yelnats is given a choice between jail or Camp Green Lake after getting in trouble. He chooses camp, where he has ups and downs during his stay. The book and film versions of "Holes" by Louis Sachar have the same names and setting in Texas. While Sophie liked the flashbacks in both, she disliked Stanley having no water in the book but liked when he and Zero climbed the mountain in the film, overall preferring the film to the book.

1. We have been reading a book called 'Holes' by Louis Sachar and have
recently watched the film. It is about a boy called Stanley Yelnats who has
a choice to go to jail or Camp Green Lake. He decides to go to camp.
Throughout his stay he has his ups and downs.
The similarities of the book and the film are that they all have the same
name and the setting is Texas. I think they kept it the same because if you
read the book first you won't know who is who and why they can't be
bothered to keep the setting the same. Also the flashbacks were the same.
In the book I didn't like the in the part where Stanley had to put up
with having no water but I liked the flashbacks. The thing I disliked about
the film was that at the beginning Stanley saw a man and a donkey (Sam
and Mary Lou). I liked the part when Stanley and Zero were up the
mountain. Overall I liked the film better.
