English Simple Past Tense Irregular Verbs
Se usa el simple past tense (el pasado simple) para indicar una situación o acción que empezó y
terminó en el pasado. En inglés el simple past tense comprende el imperfecto y el indefinido,
por lo tanto, hay que traducir según el sentido de la frase.
Los verbos del simple past tense se dividen en regulares e irregulares.
Forma Regular
Como norma general, para formar el pasado en inglés, se añade ed a un verbo.
work (trabajar)
Si el verbo ya termina en e, sólo se añade la d.
live (vivir) – lived
Los verbos monosílabos que terminan en consonante duplican la consonante final.
rub (frotar) – rubbed
Los verbos bisílabos que terminan en consonante, con acento en la última sílaba, duplican la
consonante final.
prefer (preferir) - preferred
Los verbos que terminan en y detrás de una consonante cambian la y por i al añadir la ed.
cry (llorar) - cried
Forma Irregular
Muchos verbos tienen formas irregulares en el pasado. Forman el pasado de forma distinta.

En inglés el simple past tense comprende el imperfecto y el indefinido, por lo tanto, hay que traducir según el sentido de la frase.
