Generation Anti-Slackers: How Millennials Can Achieve Success (39 characters
1. Group Work
We've all been there where you were assigned different members to work with that do not cooperate
or work hard enough. People around us believe that group projects are fun and can be exciting to
work with others, but this is not the case. I am strongly against group work, from the different
opinions, to the time management, and the slackers who do not do any of the work but still get
credit. The different personalities and opinions of the group members creates many complications
during the process of getting the work finished. Firstly, there are the different viewpoints in the
group that make it hard to cooperate with one another. In groups, there are different personalities,
making it hard to fit everyone's ideas into the project. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

"Slackers" are the people in the group who lack the effort to do anything in the group. These people
will just run around the room, acting like animals, and will not try to get any work done, thinking
that you will do it for them. These individuals will mess with your plans in anyway possible,
whether it be the construction of the project, or the pieces of the project you assign to each member.
These people will give you lousy excuses for not finishing their part of the project, and make the
rest of the group agitated. They will also ruin your grade on this project. Unless you want to stay up
all night to do their work to salvage you and your teammates' grades, you will not be getting a good
grade if you are missing things that the "slacker" decided they did not need to do. Even if you have
people who are frustrating, there are the people who will work with you and want a good grade as
badly as you do. These people will work with you to try to finish the project and cooperate with you.
But even if you have these especially exceptional people, there are still the people who will fight
with you with everything and will not work at all. Group work is the worst part of school, with the
people who do not cooperate and work, the time management, and the different opinions. I believe
that you should tell your teachers that you do not like nor understand the meaning of group work, so
that they may reconsider this teaching method. All in all, group work is horrible and not a great
system to work with the

Generation Anti– Slackers As an American we have taken pride in our steady advancement and
progression yet this generation have allowed technology to take the place of our desired
expectations in life. In this socialization people tend to slack off into a world of illusion. This era of
time from 2001 to the present time we should be named Generation Anti– Social Slacker. This
generation is notorious for having no sense of direction we are easily distracted by unnecessary
events and issues. Generation Anti– social Slackers lives in a fictitious world where we are allowed
to create goals. As a member of the Anti– Social Slacker Generation our goals of achieving the

Social networking was created to help us make new friends and stay in touch with old friends.
Unfortunately people have misused the site for numerous inappropriate needs but more importantly
people practice bad grammar and slang. With these careless behaviors this generation and beyond
will be underachievers. The author asked and important question he said, "are we really networking
in a social sense, or are we just hiding behind our keyboards, and building list of virtual friends
rather than getting out there in the real world"?(Nickson1). We have become mesmerized by
technology and disconnected for reality. However if we keep up this behavior socially we will never
get ahead and we only have ourselves to blame. In conclusion as a member of generation anti–social
slackers our goals of living the American dream is inane but not impossible and our superficial
values are promising although we value our narcissistic attitudes it may sometimes get in the way of
our goals. We have become so disconnected from reality and allowed technology to effect our
growth. What could we do to snap out of these narcissistic, anti– social unsuccessful trends? How
can this generation transform from slacker to overachievers. No matter how hard it gets there is
always hope. We must stop living in our on fictitious world and frittering away our time with social

5. A Generation Of Slackers
Generation Y, also referred to as the Milennials, get so much criticism. Elders are quick to throw
young adults under the bus; they say that Milennials are lazy, and about how easy it is growing up in
this generation because of advances in technology. Anyone now and days can have information at
the tip of their finger all they have to do is open the internet up on their phone, go to google, and
type in what you want to know; all it takes is a click of a button. What elder people tend to leave out
is how well we work together and how fast the task gets done. Another thing that's left out is how
many more millennials have full time jobs while they're a full time college student, and how much
more we volunteer. In A Generation of Slackers? Not

9. Is Holden Caulfield Ignorant
Adolescence, this is a time where you figure out who you truly are. This soul searching leads to self
realization. Holden Caulfield from The Catcher In The Rye by J. D. Salinger, has trouble accepting
himself. Throughout his days he would put on a cap just to be someone else. It is his get away place,
a place of isolation. A way for him to seclude from the world and become someone he isn't. This is
relatable to numerous teens. Though Holden could be described using numerous adjectives,
Holden's character can be perfectly described as ignorant, a liar, and a slacker. He is ignorant
because he does not learn from his mistakes. He is a compulsive liar. Finally, he is a slacker because
he avoids work. Holden is just like countless people out there who do not apply themselves. You
see, Holden could be smart. He could be successful. He just doesn't have the motivation or ambition
to do so. Being ignorant means to lack knowledge or awareness; uneducated or unsophisticated.
Holden is known to be this way because he gets himself into the most severe situations. However,
once he is out of them, he will have the same issue later on. This is because Holden is not astute. He
repeats those mistakes because he does not learn from them. This makes him ignorant. An example
of a situation is when he gets in a fist fight with Stradlater. "I tried to sock him, with all my might,
right smack in the toothbrush, so it would split his goddam throat open," (Salinger, pg 43). From this
we know that

11. Me and You and Memento and Fargo by J.J. Murphy
Structure in any form of narrative is vital, whether it be in films, books, theatre, etc. It is a frame for
a story to work within. While there is a traditional method and formula to structuring a film
narrative, filmmakers all over the world have experimented with breaking the norm and trying new
ways to structure a film. It tested the viewer's notion of what structure is and how a narrative can be
told. It was also new and something that audiences were not used to. Even now, a film that moves
too far away from the traditional three–act–structure, is highly experimental and usually only seen in
independent or student films. In this essay I will look at the film "Slacker" (Linklater, 1991) and see
how they structured the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"Act I, the screenwriter sets up the story, establishes character, launches the dramatic premise (what
the story is about), illustrates the situation (the circumstances surrounding the action), and creates
the relationships between the main character and the other characters who inhabit the landscape of
his or her world." (Field,
2005:21)
At the end of the first act there is a turning point, also known as the 'inciting incident', that signals
the start of the second act which is what Field (2005:24) calls "Confrontation". While act one and
act three usually translates to about roughly a quarter of the story's length each, act two is usually
half of the entire script. "During this second act the main character encounters obstacle after
obstacle that keeps him/her from achieving his/her dramatic need, which is defined as what
the character wants to win, gain, get, or achieve during the course of the screenplay." (Field,
2005:25) "...resolution means solution." (Field, 2005:26) In the third and final act, the resolution, the
story and characters reach a climax. Here the character usually faces his fears, overcomes his
biggest obstacles and defeats the antagonist, though not always. There is a de–escalation in act three.
In the book "Story" (McKee, 1997:105–106) Robert McKee defines the function of structure and
character: "The function of STRUCTURE is to provide

To summarize "Mind Games: Sometimes a White coat Isn't Just a White Coat" article by Sandra
Blakeslee. The article is about an experiment where people pay more attention to a doctor with a
white coat then a painter with a white coat. It's not just the effect of knowing someone is a doctor.
The effect really occurs when that doctor is wearing the coat and knowing its symbolic meaning. Dr.
Galinsky said, our thought processes is based on physical experiences that set off associated abstract
concepts, and now it appears that those experiences include the cloths we wear. The study does not

15. A Week I The Woods By Karl Maxwell Quotes
I really enjoyed the book A Week I the Woods by Andrew Clements. When a rich 5th grader, Mark
Chelmsely, realizes he must attend the field trip he decides that he is going to prove to his teacher,
Mr. Maxwell, that he isn't just a slacker. Instead he puts himself and Mr. Maxwell in a whole bunch
of danger. The main theme of this book is everybody deserves a second chance, because even when
Mark is very rude towards Mr. Maxwell they end up becoming friends in the end of the book. My
first quote shows that in the begging of the story Mr. Maxwell does not like Mark. The quote is "But
after 22 years in the classroom, Mr. Maxwell could spot a slacker a mile away. And by Wednesday
afternoon at the end of his third class with mark he reached his decision: This new boy was a
slacker" (Clements 22). In this quote it shows how Mr. Maxwell judges Mark and immediately
dislikes him because of his attitude. It only took Three days before Mr. Maxwell decides that he
dislikes Mark. This relates to the theme, everybody deserves a second chance, because it shows that
one may not like a person at first but it doesn't mean one should not give that person a second
chance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maxwell knows about Mark Chelmsely before he decides that he is going to strongly dislike this
kid. The second quote is "When Mrs. Stearns told Mr. Maxwell the news, his attitude toward this
new boy changed instantly. But it didn't change for the better. Because the only kind if people Mr.
Maxwell disliked more than slackers were environmentally insensitive, buy–the–whole–world rich
folks. And the only people he disliked more than rich folks were their lazy, spoiled kids" (Clements
25). I chose this quote because Mr. Maxwell is judging Mark and his family again because of what
he heard. At this point in the book Mr. Maxwell has had very few actual conversation with Mark and
he hates

The procrastinator. The prioritizer. The slacker. Which type of studier are you? I believe that I am all
three. Procrastination is basically waiting until the last minute to do something. Prioritizing is to
arrange or deal with things in the order of importance. Last but not least, slacking is lacking in
diligence, care, or concern. Out of all three words, prioritizing sounds the best. Many kids at school
like to procrastinate, mostly with tests, I am one of them. This is why we need to form more study
habits that will help us excel as we enter higher grade levels. Have you ever thought of why you
procrastinate? Maybe it is because you spend multiple hours doing homework, watching television,

The number twenty four says to study all day, every day. Lastly, seven means to study on all the
seven days of the week. Students test scores have augmented, when doing this process. You never
know, studying ten minutes a day may allow your test score to go from a sixty to a ninety. Study
habits not only involve you studying by yourself, but you should ask your classmates or teachers for
help. If you do not discern the lesson that was taught, pull your teacher off to the side and
respectfully ask them for help. Hang around people that do not know the same thing as you,
therefore you can help each other out. Helping friends study is always a benign act. Prioritizing is
always the best route to go. If you prioritize, you most likely will be less stressed when studying for
a test. As we enter high school, there are going to be multiple assignments and tests on the same day,
but if you prioritize you can execute your task very well. To exemplify for you, imagine next week
we will have three tests on different days. Also, that your teacher has told you two weeks before the
test. Most of us would probably wait until the last minute to study. After getting the results, you
have only passed one test. Wouldn't it have been better for you to prioritize, so you could have a
better outcome? As my saying goes, keep your eyes on the prize and

19. Before Sunrise and Before Sunset
The films Before Sunrise and Before Sunset are said to represent the so–called slacker genre.
Slackers are individuals in society who have no direction and no reasonable expectation or realistic
goals in life. This term is mainly used with Generation X'ers (people born between 1961 and 1981)
(Casto, "What's A Slacker Movie?"). Slacker movies are films that deal with the ordinary day–to–
day life of these people. In Before Sunrise and Before Sunset the characters sense of wandering and
the feel of aimlessness is what make them qualify as slacker films. It is a different story telling, not
the classical Hollywood story where boy meets girl, falls in love and lives happily ever after but a

The difference is that nine years earlier, they were a twenty–something couple both single, which
represented the Generation X, people who "grew up in the 'me generation' of the [1970s and] 1980s

definition"). Nine years later, and in their thirties and both attached to other people, they realize that
they are constrained by the choices they have made and that "getting older means no longer having
the chance to realize ones potential through their free choice" (Wartenberg, "Before Sunset |
Philosophy Now"). At the end of the film Before Sunset Céline and Jesse are in her apartment
listening to music and she begins to dance reminding him about his flight. The camera turns to Jesse
where he is seen twirling his wedding ring on his finger. As a viewer the twirling of the wedding
ring is representing the uncertainty about his happiness in his marriage. This situation is very much
relatable to the audience as divorce and the struggle of marriage has become a common occurrence

21. A Generation Of Slackers By Catherine Rampell
As generations go by, our predecessors assume we are skipping out on important aspects of life just
to get a few extra minutes on our devices. In Catherine Rampell's "A Generation of Slackers? Not
So Much", it is said the older generations believe Generation Y is "coddled, disrespectful,
narcissistic, and impatient" (Rampell 388). In all reality our generation is just doing what it has to in
order to thrive in the world we live in, where technology is one of the largest parts of our everyday
lives. If the older generations that criticize Generation Y had grown up in Generation Y they would
realize the world we live in requires the use of technology. The advancement of society with
technology has shaped Generation Y to be the people that they are, relying on technology; however,
older generations believe Generation Y is lazy. The world we live in today depends on technology to
run. We have phones that can practically do anything. That is where the older generations say we are
lazy, it is not that we are lazy, instead we are intuitive and resourceful. These words are viewed
differently by Generation Y as we are trying to simplify everything, allowing work to be done faster.
For example, in "A Generation of Slackers? Not So Much" it states, "College students also spend
fewer hours studying then their counterparts in 1961..." (Rampell 389). We no longer need to go to
the library because we can access the wealth of information on the internet, which is always at our
fingertips.

23. Procrastinator And Slacker Analysis
All people spend at least a little time in the four of quadrants: procrastinator, prioritizer, yes–man,
and slacker. The quadrants represent your habits on importance and urgency in relation to your
priorities. Although I spend most of my time as a prioritizer, I can remove the yes–man from my life
by being a better prioritizer and learning how to say no to people. The first and fourth quadrants,
procrastinator and slacker, are the two worst quadrants to be in. Both leave you with low–quality
performance, stress, guilt, and a lot of wasted time. Procrastinators and slackers do not plan
anything out, nor do they worry about the quality of their work, only that it eventually gets done,
sometime in the future. At this point in my life, I relate

27. Types Of Slackers Essay
When it comes to school every student behaves differently in the classroom. Once I reached high
school I realized that some students cared too much and some students didn't care at all; when it
came to their education. Everyone knows someone who would always come to class but never do
anything or someone who never missed a day of class and always participate in class discussions.
During my years in high school I've observed several types of students and how they behaved in
class. In my opinion, most students can be categorized as slackers, over achievers, or standards.
Slackers are the students who almost never come to class or doing any assignments. These type of
students usually just enough work to barely pass they class. A slacker never participates in any
group or class activities. I knew a kid in high school who was a slacker, his name was Billy. He was
a cool kid but sucked when it came down to getting assignments done. Billy barely came to class

29. Slack Off Research Paper
I am a slacker. There is no possible way I will deny that. In some ways, slacking off is both a good
thing and a bad thing. I will admit that I love slacking because I don't have to worry about anything
that is so important and that I can only focus on my video games. It's true. Every time I'm at home, I
play video games and slack off. Every time I am in school, I slack off and feel like that I shouldn't
do my work at all. That's what most slackers feel like. They feel like they shouldn't do anything that
feels important with the exception of video games.
What is my advice for future students? Do not become a slacker. That's the only advice I can give.
What are the main reasons? First, slacking off is not a good thing depending on how you look at it.
Slacking off can drive you away from your school work and you will definitely not graduate from
high school and you will most likely not get a good job because you didn't go to college. The second
reason is that slacking off will get you nowhere. School is the most important thing in your life and
slacking off will not help that in any way. You need to graduate in order to have a job and in order to
get money so that you can buy what every you want. Finally, slacking off will not help your family
members. Let's say that you have chores to do. You were asked to wash the dishes, cut the grass,
clean your room and many other things. You feel like the chores are of no importance so you slack
off and play video games all the long. If you slack off, you can't help your parents around the house

get you to buy there things over other companies and keep you hooked. Either through commercials

you go to the store and you need to buy water, once you get to the lane and look, there is 10 different

This might seem harmless but this "Dream" is very dangerous. Denizet–Luis explains how "There
are kids starving themselves so they can be the Abercrombie girl, and there are guys who think they
aren't worthy if they don't look exactly like the guys on the wall" (Denizet–Luis, 371). Children
don't know that it's bad for them to starve themselves to look like the idol they look up too. They see
those people and say "why can't I be like that?" and try so hard to do it and get sick or hurt. This
pursuit for the "Dream" is dangerous especially if it involves children because children are naive and
do not know the difference between what they can or can't do. This does not exclude the adults
because they too have the same dream and some are reckless to achieve it, some want to look like
the Victoria secret models and so they throw up what they eat or exercise too much which is very
harmful.

The one you are more likely to come in contact with is what we call the slacker. The slacker is a

may even try to cheat off of another person. They are the ones who don't really want to be there but

43. A Generation Of Slackers Not So Much Analysis
Nicole Stick
Prof. Ray
ENG 100
5 March 2016
Know–It–All Ne'er–Do–Wells In the article "A Generation of Slackers? Not So Much", by
Catherine Rampell, the author analyzes and challenges the popular stigma that Millennials are the
laziest generation to have ever existed. Rampell begins her article with a staggering fact: "The
unemployment rate for 16– to 24–year–olds is a whopping 17.6 percent" (Rampell 388). And
according to seventy–five percent of Americans, "Today's youth are less virtuous and industrious
than their elders" (Rampell 388). This may seem like an incredibly high percentage of Americans,
but you might be astonished to learn that even "Two–thirds of millennials said older adults were
superior to the younger generation when it came ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I personally work forty–plus hours every week, as well as attending classes for six to nine credit
hours per semester. I am actively involved in my community, as are many of my friends, and
between work, school, and volunteering, I find that leisure often gets pushed to the wayside. I am
sure that one of the biggest factors in this "lazy younger generation" belief is the technological
advantages we have at our disposal. The older generation views our willingness to use these
advancements as "working smart, and not hard", which in their minds, makes it seem like we prefer
to take the easy way out. This is more than often not the case! I am sure that if millennials did not
make use of our resources, some would consider us to be 'ungrateful'. This alludes to an air of
hypocrisy among older generations. Whether we utilize the advancements available to us or not, I
believe that generations before us will always view Millennials as ungrateful and

45. On Laziness By Christopher Morley Summary
Generally, lazy people are not admired. Society, as a whole, prefers those who are willing and able
to actively and positively contribute to its progress. Effort is praised while indifference can typically
be seen as shameful. Christopher Morley understands this. In his short essay, "On Laziness," he
indirectly confronts the slothful in an effort to make them see the error of their ways. Morley deals
with the topic of laziness in a overly sarcastic and satirical tone to stress the absurdity of the trait.
Early in his essay, Morley utilizes irony that made it evident that his essay on the supposed benefits
of laziness is meant to be treated as a satire. He in no way is actually believing what he is explicitly
stating. The opening statement can only reasonably be viewed as an intentional joke. Morley claims
that he intends "to write an essay on Laziness but [is] too indolent to [even] do so." Yet, the paper
does not end here; he continues on and completes an entire academic essay, blatantly contradicting
his first sentence in it. If Morley stays true to his words and fully believes in the value of idleness,
no work would have been made to defend it. He makes the sarcasm even more obvious through his
deliberate choice of words. While criticizing activeness and energy, Morley spoke of having "a
determined effort to be more languid and demure." It is paradoxical to try to be lazy. Putting in
effort and making an attempt to be so goes against its basic definition. Morley provides examples of
where laziness was shown to be virtuous. However, he purposely makes them flawed and highly
debatable, forcing the slothful to consider if there is in actuality a strong case for their behavior.
Morley initially calls upon recent history for proof. He reminds the audience of the Great War– the
essay being written in 1920 shortly after it ended– and declares that "the world would have been
spared a great deal... if the Germans had been as lazy, as indifferent, and as righteously laissez–
fairish as their neighbours..." This is a bold claim. War is an atrocious ordeal whose causes are
complex and cannot solely be blamed on one group of people. Many including the toughest
advocate for indolence will not support the idea that the

47. Home For Peculiar Children: A Comparative Essay
Most people feel categorized in some way. For example, if you were a carpenter, but you enjoy
writing, then you belong in both of those "worlds." While reading the books, Cinder, by Marissa
Meyer, and the book, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, by Ransom Riggs, I found
myself asking the question, can you really belong in two places? In the book, Miss Peregrine's
Home for Peculiar Children, the story is about a boy who wanted to visit the place where his
grandfather's old stories took place, but when he got there, it was burnt down, but further inspection
he found his way to the house and lost himself in a world before his time, not knowing whether this
world, or the normal world, was the right one for him. And in the book, Cinder, it's about a cyborg
girl who doesn't know if she should be in the castle or in a workshop fixing up broken gadgets,
living as a test subject, or even on a different planet. Thinking further into this question, I pondered
how did both Marissa Meyer and Ransom ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

developed the same question by doing the opposite, the main character struggled to get lost in their
world and made them see differences. An example of this when the text states, "I am not human. I
am a cyborg. I am a mechanic. That's all I am... right?" This quote shows the protagonist of the story

school doors until we leave at the end of the day there is nothing but competition. There are many
different kinds of competition, whether it is in a sport for school or for who has the best academic

Many people believe that we need to have our children competing to be the best of the best when
they are young. Therefore, giving them a head start on a great future. In Rose he says, "Students will
float to the mark you set." (Rose 154) This means that if we set the mark at college, there are kids
that will compete to be the best out of their class and will strive to become the most successful.
Although we do not realize this, but by setting that mark it is giving the slackers something to aim
for even though they never seem to compete for anything. This means that by having an
environment that is willing to push even the slackers in school shows that they to can have
something to compete for in the future. The environment of students plays an important role in
helping students compete to become better. We tend to see better scores from students in private
schools rather than students in public schools, this is because students are pushed harder in private
schools and are competing to be the best because they know that if they start to fall behind they will
be left in the dust. These students become the slackers. Problems start to form when the parents of
the slackers start to shelter them and say that competing is not that important. Young adults are
smart and they see this as an opportunity to use their parents. When reading Katherine S. Newman,
"The Accordion Family: Boomerang Kids, Anxious Parents, and the Private Toll of Global
Competition" we find it interesting when she brings up the topic on how "Adult children are
migrating home or refraining from leaving in the first place, and there they stay for many years
longer." (Newman 91) With this being said we can right away notice that there is no motivation to

55. Slacker By Nathan Rabin Summary
Many may view a "slacker" as one who will procrastinate on everything meaningful, one who is
ignorant, lazy, incompetent, or even uneducated. Nathan Rabin argues statistically that men ranging
from their late teens to late 20s happen to be in the prime time when "you're too young to realize
your limitations, or even to know that limitations exist" (Rabin 482). The author argues that no man
should have a "limit" but to realize our potential as human beings as a whole to perceive red lights
from green lights, and to keep going when someone else said STOP. This essay influences its
readers to believe Rabin's assertion that being a so called "slacker" is not so bad through its
anecdotal evidence, appealing to the opposition, and societal values. Nathan Rabin affectively uses
anecdotal evidence to make readers understand what he means when he says that no man should be
declared a slacker because he's "dressed in a baggy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

inspired a movie that may just win an Oscar for best picture"(Rabin 482). Also another way he
effectively appeals to the opposition by the opinion of other people, because no one in their right
minds would guess a person who dresses in their pajamas in the middle of broad day could be the
next 26–year–old billionaire. But that's the flaws of judging a book by its cover. One can say that

Let's face it, not all who choose to continue school past the 12th grade made the choice with the best

who choose to attend will come from different nationalities, religions, and financial backgrounds,
but can almost always be classified into two categories the will define them during the collegiate
journey. Those categories are the scholars and the slackers. A college scholar is one who makes the
best of their college experience and understands the main purpose of earning a college degree. A
college slacker is one who does not understand the main purpose of earning an education and does
not make the best of their experience. Scholars and slackers are hard to tell apart based on their

When it comes to the time spent on preparing yourself to do well, for scholars it always seems like

scholar and a slacker there are some similarities, even though they aren't always easy to identify.
There is nothing wrong with attending a party here or there or even taking time to see your favorite

Eliza the slut was also brought to the police and she plotted a way to send a picture to her friends so

Andy protested to let all the kids out and hundreds of people joined them until someone just broke

61. Analysis Of Claude Levi Strauss 's ' Black As Slacker...
Claude Lévi–Strauss was a French anthropologist who believed that the myths created and told by a
society could be a window into the beliefs and conflicts of that society. As a Structuralist, Lévi–
Strauss saw stories as language and sought to understand their underlying grammar. This he believed
centered on pairs of opposite ideas, held by the culture, but creating tension within it – the raw and
the cooked, the sacred and the profane, and so on. School of Rock, a 2003 film starring Jack Black
as slacker Dewey Finn, shows the tension between a truly American pair of opposites: laziness vs.
hard work. While in other mythologies it is a trickster character who mediates between these
opposites, the nature of this American pair, and the surrounding culture, make it necessary that the
trickster not remain so; he has to join one side or the other. Claude Lévi–Strauss sought a scientific
approach to the interpretation of the meaning of myths. To perform an analysis, he would first
collect every version and variant of a myth possible. Each version would be broken down into its
individual plot elements, and these elements were then plotted on a chart to show how they fit
together. The charts would be compared across variants, and eventually the true meaning of the
myth would emerge. Any scientist knows that a large data pool is indispensable for getting good
results. Unfortunately, there is only one School of Rock. Though I cannot be so thorough as he

limited by the answers provided. It is easy to lie or skirt the truth when self reporting data. In my
opinion, the Big Five questionnaire was a more accurate assessment of my personality than was the

The LIFE survey was very similar to the Big Five in that it measures personality in multiple
dimensions and then gives a numerical score for each dimension. The dimensions on the LIFE
survey are suburbanite, cultured, slacker, and preppie. In the suburbanite dimension, I scored 8 out
of 13. According to the survey, people who score higher in the suburbanite dimension live a more
conventional life style and tend to be more family oriented and conservative than those who score
lower. I agree with this score. I tend to be more of a homebody and I enjoy cooking, which is a sign
of a suburbanite. I scored 2 out of 13 in the cultured dimension which I disagree with. The
interpretation of my low cultured score contradicts the interpretation of my low slacker score.
Cultured people try to better the world around them by attending museums, volunteering, and
writing letters. People who score low in this dimension as I did, are assumed to be the kind of
people who eat too much junk food and watch too much TV. The discrepancy probably arose due to
my introversion tendencies, as cultured people are purportedly expressive and vocal. I scored low, 3
out of 13, in the slacker dimension. I apparently relate better to other humans than I do to
computers, and I know that smoking and drinking in excess are bad for my health. People who score
high in the slacker dimension live unhealthy lifestyles, characterized by their excessive use of TV,
fast food, smoking, and drinking habits. I agree with my slacker score, but this assessment of my
personality in the slacker dimension directly contradicts the assessment in the cultured dimension. I
supposedly eat too much fast food and indulge in too much TV according to my cultured score, but
according to my slackers score I live a healthy life style characterized by my infrequent indulgence
in fast food, TV, smoking, and alcohol. The contradictment of these two dimensions goes to show

69. Analysis Of Michael Francis Moore 's ' The Columbine High...
Born in 1954, Michael Francis Moore is an American documentary filmmaker. His opening
documentary, Roger & Me, "launched his career as one of America's best–known and most
controversial documentarians" (In IMDB). However, his documentary that studies the events of the
Columbine high school massacre is what put him on the map. Bowling for Columbine won the
Academy Award for Documentary feature in 2002. His notable films also include Fahrenheit 9/11,
the highest–grossing documentary of all time that presents a contentious view on the presidency of
George W. Bush. His latest documentary, Where to Invade Next, premiered in the US on October 2,
2015.
Apparent in all his films, Moore is unafraid to make use of entertainment to discuss political,
economic, industrial, cultural, and social concerns that informs, provokes, and sometimes,
manipulates its audience. Moore utilizes the documentary form of filmmaking that adapts to the
shifts in popular culture where entertainment value is crucial. Though his chosen subject matter are
commonly treated in a scholarly and profound manner, he remains critical by treating these topics in
a comedic and sardonic manner.
Apart from being a filmmaker, Moore is also a television screenwriter through his political comedy
show TV Nation, an author of eight books, journalist, actor, and a political activist. Perhaps
Fahrenheit 9/11 is considered Moore's most intriguing documentary. Premiered in the 2004 Cannes
