Sub issue: Pathetic condition of an aged mother
Curricular learning outcomes: The learner can develop an interest in reading such stories. The learner can develop
a respect towards the older people in the society.
Content analysis : Madhavikutty is an internationally known poet, short story writer and novelist, who
writes effortlessly both in English and Malayalam. It is a short story of an aged
mother, who losts her memory and cannot recognize his son, who reached there for
his share.
Pre requisites : Learn may read such stories with similar themes.
Teaching learning Resources : Picture, blackboard, textbook, PowerPoint presentation

Teacher creates a mental readiness in students by asking
them about their attitude towards parents
Introducing the author and topic
Teacher gives a gist of the author, her works, also gives short
description of the lesson. Along with it teacher shows the picture of
Madhavikutty
Theme of the story
Teacher here says the theme of the story in one or two sentences; teacher
says that ‘the tattered blanket’ deal with the return of a son to visit her
mother after a long gap.
Loud reading
Teacher reads the paragraphs loudly along with it teacher says to
students to underline the words that they could not understand
Displaying the meaning of words
In this section teacher writes the meaning of words, that students could
not understand.
Eg: ineffectual
Grating voice – harsh voice
Activity
In this section teacher gives an activity to pupils related with the topic
Write a likely conversation between Gopi and Vimala when he reached
home.
Student’s version
Teacher asks the pupils to present their product before the class
Teacher’s role
Teacher displays her own version through power point presentation and
also edits the errors.
Gist of the topic
Teacher once again tells the main points of the topic, in order to
understand the lesson better

Content analysis : Madhavikutty is an internationally known poet, short story writer and novelist, who writes effortlessly both in English and Malayalam. It is a short story of an aged mother, who losts her memory and cannot recognize his son, who reached there for his share. Pre requisites : Learn may read such stories with similar themes.
