Curricular Statement : To make the learner aware about the role of parents and their care in the 
life of a child 
Learning Outcome : The learner is 
1. Remembering his father’s love and care during childhood 
2. Understanding how much pain and sufferings are under taken by parents to make 
a happy home. 
3. Applying the new vocabulary in a new situation 
4. Analyzing the present situation of the society regarding their attitude to their 
parents 
5. Evaluating his own thoughts with that the poet and his peer group. 
6. Creating similar poem
Content Analysis : Ideational content 
The poem is a “regardful son’s belated homage to a loving father who did 
not receive any love or gratitude from his son when he needed it”. 
Linguistic Content 
New vocabulary, visual image 
Pre-requisites : Learner may have experience the love and care of his father during 
childhood days. 
Teaching- learning Resources : Laptop, (PPT, Picture ) course book, Source book 
Classroom Interaction procedure Pupil Response 
Informal Interaction 
The teacher initiates an informal interaction with the students 
and he tries to sustain the interest throughout the class. 
Entry Activity 
Teacher creates a mental readiness in pupils by asking 
about their childhood days . 
a. can you recollect your happy childhood days :
b. who were your playmates during those days! 
c. who is your best friend , father or mother ; 
Then teacher shows a video in the Laptop , based on the 
chapter. Here teacher shows a video about, a loveable father 
and his son in the modern world 
Then teacher divided the class into 4 groups 
Link Talk 
Teacher leads the learner to the poem by asking students 
about the video and what they have understood from this video and 
asks each group to share their views 
Then he writes the title and authors name on the (BB) 
Those winter Sundays

Micro Processing of the Input 
Teacher reads the poem with appropriate tone and 
intonation . Then second time he again use Laptop for the recorded 
audio representation of poem line by line with appropriate tone 
Silent reading by the pupils 
Teacher asks the pupils to read the poem silently. 
Pupils watch the video with interest and 
carefully.
Teacher asks some simple questions 
a. Who is the author of the poem? 
b. Which day of the week is mentioned in the poem? 
c. Name the title of the poem? 
Sharing and understanding 
Teacher asks the students to sit in groups and share what they 
have understood , while seeing the video and while reading the 
poem . Teacher uses different methods and techniques to explain 
different vocabulary item. 
Teacher gives the pictorial representation of each difficult word 
through laptop. 
Cracked -fractured 
Then show the picture of a cracked hands through laptop. 
Ache- Strong pain 
Show the expression of ache through picture using Laptop . 
Labour- hard work 
Blaze- flame 
Then teacher explains the chapter ‘Those winter Sundays,’ by 
comparing the video of Modern age father and son and the video
of father and son mentioned in the chapter. “ Those winter 
Sundays” Here teacher use two Videos of same theme 
SCAFFOLDED READING 
Teacher asks scaffolding questions 
1. Name the poet? 
2. Which day is mentioned here ? 
3. Father in these poem is loveable or not ? 
4. Did the son realize the love of his father? 
Developing Appreciation 
Teacher asks the pupils to develop an appreciation of the 
poem. 
DISCOURSE CONSTRUCTION 
Individual Work : Teacher asks the pupils to find out the images 
in the poem. 
GROUP WORK 
Teacher again shows a video, that of modern parents who do 
not have time to care their children and give them love and 
affection 
Then asks each group to make a comparison about parents in
now a days and the father in those winter Sundays. 
Review Questions 
1. Can you say the theme of the poem? 
2. Can you give the mindset of the poet? 
3. what is the character of the father here ? 
4. Who is the author of the poem ? 
Loud reading 
Teacher asks the pupils to read the poem loudly 
Follow up Activity 
Collect different video clips on parent-child relationship.

  • 2. Content Analysis : Ideational content The poem is a “regardful son’s belated homage to a loving father who did not receive any love or gratitude from his son when he needed it”. Linguistic Content New vocabulary, visual image Pre-requisites : Learner may have experience the love and care of his father during childhood days. Entry Activity Teacher creates a mental readiness in pupils by asking about their childhood days . a. can you recollect your happy childhood days :

Here teacher shows a video about, a loveable father and his son in the modern world Then teacher divided the class into 4 groups Link Talk Teacher leads the learner to the poem by asking students about the video and what they have understood from this video and asks each group to share their views Then he writes the title and authors name on the (BB) Those winter Sundays Robert Hayden Micro Processing of the Input Teacher reads the poem with appropriate tone and intonation . Then second time he again use Laptop for the recorded audio representation of poem line by line with appropriate tone Silent reading by the pupils Teacher asks the pupils to read the poem silently. Pupils watch the video with interest and carefully.

Sharing and understanding Teacher asks the students to sit in groups and share what they have understood , while seeing the video and while reading the poem . Teacher uses different methods and techniques to explain different vocabulary item. Teacher gives the pictorial representation of each difficult word through laptop.
