2. British Film Industry. The British film industry had many competition with the US film industry therefore needed to produce British films each year to increase the industry success. American films such as Superman II and The Empire Strikes Back were all filmed at British studios. American directors wanted to work in Britain and some even became residence in the UK. The British film industry experienced booms and recession. The cinematographic films act was passed in order to increase the sales production of British films. The act was very successful. However during 1980s the British industry was only able to produce 31 films 50% less than the previous year.
3. American film industry The American film industry is the most competitive industry to beat when films are being produced. This is because many British and other countries have their films distributed and also make distribution deals with well known American studios. For example; Bridget Jones’s Diary and Pride and Prejudice both have been distributed by the US. During the mid- 1940s the American studios were producing 400 movies a year which were seen by millions of audiences per week. This was completely different compared to the amount of the British industry were making. Not all American films had become successful. The industry also suffered from recession. American studios cut back on production and produced less films each year. And also had to withdraw on financing the British. Film quality's started to go down hill and less audiences were going to the cinema.
4. British VS American. British American There are many points to consider when wanting to see which country is most successful in producing films. During the 1960s the British film industry gained success in films such as; Repulsion and Alfie. This was mainly due to the fact that it contained nudity and violence on screen to attract the international market. However the British film industry also experienced recession and had also made their audience very disappointed because of the lack of effort made towards the film. Majority of the films made during the 1960s contained poor quality and were made with very low cost. The American film industry is a very popular industry because of the amount of deals and partnership it has with so many countries. Major films studios such as 20thCentury Fox, Paramount and Warner Bros. are very popular amongst the US market. It has also had many connections with other countries including Britain.
