Industry and Market Analysis
Competition Analysis
Do you have any idea about the number of students appearing for MBA against the number
of seats available in B-schools? The ratio might completely baffle you. It’s more than 2 lakh
students V/s 13000 seats in MBA. Well, take a deep breath! This data is not to scare you.
Rather, this is just to show you the kind of competition you are getting into. As tough is the
competition, so should be the preparation. More than hard work, cracking an MBA exam
requires smart work. And that’s where MBA coaching comes into the picture. These days
every coaching claims to be the best, which makes it all the more difficult for a student to
take the right decision.

About the Projects
▪ Bridge Courses – Content, Recording,100 questions: This project comprised of 6
different modules targeting various subjects like Statistics, Finance, Excel, Supply
Chain, Human resources and Economics. All these modules are for training the
students before the onset of their MBA classes and are extensively prepared. My task
was to collate the content for all the modules and do a voice-over recording (software
used – Active Presenter) for these modules and finally prepare 100 questionnaires for
each of the modules.
▪ Brand Book – This was a project wherein my creativity as an individual was tested. It
was a crucial project as I had to define the identity of the organization in this manual.
It comprised of various parameters starting from use of logo, colours, format for any
written content, stories behind the brand and lots more.
▪ College Updates – 5 colleges were allocated to all the 15 interns. We were required
to find the details of these colleges like fees structure, admission procedures, alumni,
events, etc. after the initial data collection, our task was to update these details on
WordPress and make the content live on the website.
▪ CLP Consultations at centres – CLP is a campus leadership program which
included the participation of undergraduate interns. These interns were responsible for
tele calling and setting up meetings of new students for enrolment to the classes.
Under this project I was assigned the task of visiting all the centres of CATKing and
boosting the hiring of CLPs through various strategies and thereby adding to the
revenue
About the Projects
▪ HIP – Hundred Interns Program: This was one of the most important projects that I
was handling. It was an end to end project based on social media marketing, wherein I
was responsible for handling 100 interns (including hiring as well) and allocating task
to them on a daily basis for a tenure of 1 month. This project was aimed to enhance
the social media presence of CATKing.
▪ Organisation Structure – This project was aimed to improve the efficacy and
ecosystem of the organization by competitive analysis. The analysis was done by
physical visit to the competition centres and questioning them about organisational
hierarchy, hiring and other things about the organizations structure. Centres visited –
IMS, T.I.M.E and Career Launcher.
▪ GLS – Presentation & Meetings – During the tenure of the internship, an important
summit was conducted named as GLS (Global Leadership Summit). All interns were
actively involved in performing some or the other task aiming to make the summit a
success. I was responsible for setting up and attending meetings for sponsorship
(attended 4 meetings). For the D-day, the presentation was drafted by me.
▪ Solution Station – This is a platform on the website which invites students to ask and
respond to various questions related to MBA entrance exams. My duty was to boost
organic presence on this platform by applying various strategies.
About the Projects
▪ Blogs – Content & SEO optimization: This was a project allocated to all the interns.
Every week two blog topics were assigned. The specifications for the drafted blogs
were as follows – minimum 800 characters, SEO optimization. Besides this, every
intern was required to SEO optimize 8 of the older blogs.
▪ ERP – Training Manual & implementation– CATKing has an Enterprise Resource
Planning software, named as EIS (Easy Institute Software). The software had to be
understood in detail for easier implementation in all centres. I was accountable for
understanding the functioning of the software in detail from the representative and
drafting the training module for the same. Besides this, I was also incharge of
implementing this system at the Borivali centre.
▪ Retention Sales – This concept included training the students and keeping them
engaged before the commencement of their actual classes, according to the academic
calendar. 28 colleges were assigned to me for calling and pitching this module,
thereby setting up initial meetings.
▪ Research - GST savings and Database Marketing– I was required to do extensive
research on how to save GST by various methods and thereby improve the
profitability of business. I was also involved in researching the strategy for database
marketing, using the existing database in CATKing. During the initial phase of the
internship, research was also done for various competitors focusing on different
parameters.
Research Methodology
Research Methodology
STEP BY STEP METHODOLGY OF RESEARCH
Description
The above diagram describes the research methodology.
Step 1: Setting Up research methodology.
The most basic step is to select a method of performing research. Different Projects may
require different methodology. It therefore becomes important to select a proper method of
research based on the area of research.
Step 2: Secondary Research.
Secondary research involves the summary, collation and/or synthesis of existing
research. Secondary research is contrasted with primary research in that primary
research involves the generation of data, whereas secondary research uses
primary research sources as a source of data for analysis
Step 3: Primary Research
Primary research is new research, carried out to answer specific issues or questions. It can
involve questionnaires, surveys or interviews with individuals or small groups.
Secondary research makes use of information previously researched for other purposes and
publicly available.
Step 4: Collating the Primary Data
The next step involved is combining all the data obtained from the above steps. It is
important to filter out the important data, relevant to the topic being researched.
Step 5: Analysis of Primary Data
Analysing surveys from primary research. If surveys are part of your primary research,
analysing data from them most likely involves both quantitative and qualitative analysis. The
important thing is to organize your raw data into a form that you can make sense of with
analysis to address the topic of your paper.
Step 6: Results and Observation
After collating and analysing all the data, obtained from the above steps, the next part is to
arrive at a result of our research. Results and Observations must be properly arranged and
summarized, so as to arrive at a proper conclusion.
Step 7: Conclusion and Recommendations
The final step in our research methodology is to arrive at a Conclusion.
Conclusion interprets the findings or results of the research
performed. Recommendations follow conclusions and are opinions supported by the report's
findings.
Project – Research Methodology
Bridge Courses - Content, Recording, 100 Questions:
This module involved 6 different subjects which were statistics, finance, Excel, Supply
Chaim, Human resource, and Economics. An extensive amount of research was involved in
this project, as proper contents had to be selected for all the subjects, and accordingly
recordings had to be done. It was important that the contents were uniform across the
recordings and questionnaire were based on those contents.
Brand Book:
Brand book, spoke more about the current positioning of CATKing across its industry. Here
the research was more towards evaluating the market position and the market share of
CATKing across the education industry. Here recommendation was also to be given on
improving the current brand value of the CATKing in the industry. Refer other brand book so
as to get an overview of the format used, method used, etc so as to prepare a brand book.
College Updates:
Several top tier colleges had to be evaluated across the country. College websites were a very
reliable source so as to understand the current structure, working, etc of a particular college.
Several details such as fees, admission procedures, events, etc were easily accessible through
college websites
CLP Consultations at centres:
CLP program involved hiring of interns. Selection of interns was an important aspect of this
project. Proper interns are to be selected as per the requirement, which were shortlisted based
on their qualifications through sources such as Internshala.
HIP - Hundred Interns Program:
The HIP projects had hiring interns as well, however, this project was inclined more towards
social media marketing. Proper research had to be done so as to understand the popularity of
social media, and ways to reach out to maximum number of people. The main objective of
this project was to improve the visibility of CATKing across several social media platforms.
Organization Structure:
Performing primary research by visiting several
Branches of competitors of CATKing such as IMS, T.I.M.E and career launcher, so as to
understand the organizational hierarchy, hiring and several other important aspects of
organization Structure.
Project – Research Methodology
GLS - Presentation & Meetings:
Global Leadership Summit (GLS) was an important summit for CATKing were interns were
allocated several tasks. The summit involved 3 prominent speakers who had shared their
insights about importance of MBA. Research procedures involved selecting proper speakers
for the summit, colleges to be together for sponsorship and promotions, etc.
Solution Station:
The main idea of solution station is to build more traffic on the platform. One of the ways to
increase the traffic was utilizing the interns hired during the HIPs . Solution Station is a
forum, which connects several students who may need any help during their preparation of
several MBA entrance exams.
Blogs - Content & SEO optimization:
Blogs had to be written on several topics. Proper selection of contents is an important aspect
of writing a blog. Primary Research had to be performed so as to filter contents as per topic
and successfully write an effective blog. SEO optimization was to optimize the visibility of
any particular page, when searched through any browser, link or any website.
ERP - Training Manual & Implementation:
This project is linked to the previous project. SEO optimization project was to improve the
visibility of blogs, which in turn would improve the visibility of CATKing website.
Retention Sales:
This project was to pitch several courses for students across several colleges, according to
their requirements.
Defining the requirement of colleges, and accordingly selecting courses for students, contact
details of administrative department or decision maker of a particular college, were some of
the important details that had to be researched about.
Research - GST saving and database marketing:
One of the project which involved extensive research was the project on GST savings. In this
project, I had to find ways to save GST, and improve profitability of CATKing. Extensive
research had to be done so as to understand the working of GST, and accordingly find
methods to save GST. Database marketing involved searching for right clients, who would be
interested to purchase the database of CATKing at the best price.
Actual Study Conducted
Actual Study Conducted
The internship tenure was for two months. During this period various projects and tasks were assigned
to me. The objective of all the projects assigned to me was to build a robust online presence for
CATKing Educare, which already enjoys a good market share in offline MBA coaching industry.
To achieve the objective, it was necessary to first analyse the market, understand what is being
offered and hence market research was necessary. I conducted a thorough research of our competitors
and also our target audience in order to get the better understanding of their needs and what our
competitors are offering. During the research, there were several roadblocks as it was not easy to get
the required information.
Once the information was there, it became relatively easy to move ahead in right direction. There
were several brainstorming sessions and we came up with few products which are live on the website
as of now. Various initiatives were taken up by me. One of the important one’s being designing the
brand book for the organisation. Another important project was the Hundred Interns project, which
helped in increasing the brand awareness of CATKing on social media by almost 20%
Listed below are the project titles and details of the task accomplished.

Bridge Courses - Content, Recording, 100
Questions
Bridge Courses was one of the important projects in the internship. The project involved
recording videos for several subjects in the MBA curriculum. Following were the steps which
were involved in this project:
Step 1: Deciding the Subjects
The subjects that were selected for recording were based on the MBA curriculum across the
country. The 6 subjects that had been selected were HRM, Supply Chain, Economics,
Statistics, Excel and Finance. These subjects were a major part of MBA curriculum and
hence were selected, irrespective of the specialisation selected by the Students.
Step 2: Content for Every Subject:
After selecting the subjects in the first step, the next step was to find out the content for every
Subject. Extensive research was involved in finding out the contents for all the subjects. It
was important to select the correct content, and make sure that the contents are relevant as
well.
Step 3: Script for every Presentation:
The contents that were collected in the previous steps were large, and not everything can be
recorded. It was important that the contents in the presentations are concise and summarized.
A proper script had to be prepared which had to be in sync with the contents of the subjects.
Step 4: Recording for every Video:
After deciding on the contents and scripts for the presentation, the next step was to record the
contents providing the explanation for every Slide. The recordings had to be in sync with the
contents of the slide being explained. Active Presenter was the software which was used for
this process.
Step 5: Exporting the recordings to Videos:
The next was to export all the contents recorded that is the audio in the video format. Each
slide had a recording which would provide an explanation to the Slide
Step 6: Questionnaire for all Modules:
The next and final step consisted of the Questionnaire for all modules. The questions were
based on the contents of the presentations, so as to test the students, and weather they have
had an understanding of all the modules.
Bridge Courses - Content, Recording,
100 Questions
These are the short courses, which are pursued by prospective MBA students. It covers all the
necessary subjects and topics of the MBA curriculum very briefly to make a good base for
further study.
Currently very few organisations are providing this kind of courses in India and hence we
saw an opportunity to have first mover’s advantage. I was assigned the task to create and
develop the course. I was responsible from conducting the market research to deciding on the
topics and subjects to be included in the course to developing the content for the course and
doing voice over for them.
My research included study of all such courses available in the market, pricing of courses,
review of such courses and content of courses offered. During the study, I conducted survey
among the prospective MBA students to understand how many of them would actually
subscribe to such course. All the findings were then collated and courses were designed
accordingly.
Subjects Included No. of Sub Modules
1.Human Resource Management 17
2. Financial Management 13
3. Basics of Statistics 13
4. Fundamentals of Economics 20
5. Supply Chain Management 19
6. Advanced Excel 13
Additional Details
1. Duration of each subject: 5-6 hours.
2. Each subject includes 13-20 ppts.
3. Each PPT contains 4-7 slides.
Brand Book
Brand Manual involved creating a Brand Book for CATKing. Several factors had to be
considered while preparing this project. An entire brand manual had to drafted for CATKing,
which was a challenging task. Some of the important factors considered while making brand
manual were:
Our Logo Story:
Logo of the brand plays an important role for its brand. Properly placing the logo and making
it look attractive was an important part of the project. Using correct colour combination,
drafting it to make it look attractive, enhancing its visibility were some of the important
factors that were to be considered in order to look the brand logo more appealing.
Our Typography:
Typography refers to style and appearance of the printed matter. Properly selecting the data
and arranging it properly had to be done properly.
Our Logo on Image:
In the brand manual, I had not just placed the logo, but had also used logo on several images.
There were images in the brand book, which had CATKing logo on it, so as to make it look
more appealing and enhance its visibility.
Our Colour:
Proper colour combination had to be used everywhere so as to make sure that the manual
looks good. Selection of correct colour combination is very essential, as it has a great impact.
It is important to select a colour, which goes with the contents of the page
Overall, creating a Brand book involved a lot of creativity, and designing. Several brand
manuals of the competitors were compared so as to get the gist of the project.

College Updates
Every intern was assigned 5 colleges for finding the details on colleges and uploading it on
the CATKing website. Following were the steps involved in this project:
Step 1: Gather Data for colleges
The first and an important step was to collect data for colleges assigned. Collection of data
could be done from several sources. However, the most reliable source of data was the
websites of every college. Data such as fees structure, admission procedure, placements,
entrance exams, etc were to be collected. All the data had to be put together in a word
document.
Step 2: Get data live on WordPress
After collating all the data in the above step, the next step was to properly placing the data so
as to make it look concise and summarized. It was important to eliminate all unwanted data
and keep data only that is necessary. Entire content should fit on a single page of the website
and should be relevant and recent. After filtering all important data, and properly designing it,
the data of colleges had to be made live on WordPress
This project was helpful for students who are seeking information on any college, they could
visit the CATKing website and seek all important information pertaining to a college, on a
single platform.

CLP Consultations at centres
CLP was a project which comprised of hiring of interns. This was an important program
which was done so as to improve the revenue of CATKing.
Interns where hired to bring in more business by making more students enrol to CATKing.
However, one of the problems that was noticed is that the number of interns had to be
increased. This is because, as the number of interns go up, more are the number of calls and
so more number of students enrolling, thereby resulting in an increase in the overall revenue
of the company. Hiring was increased through several websites such as Internshala,
letsintern, etc.
Initially, CATKing paid no fixed stipend to its interns, and only had performance related pay
and a certificate. One of the important changes that were made in this program was to
introduce a fixed pay portion, so that more and more interns show interest in the job, and
thereby we could make sure that the objective of starting this project is achieved.
This project had a great learning experience, as selecting right candidate for the job was
important so as to make sure that the overall benefit of the project is achieved.
HIP - Hundred Interns Program
HIP - Hundred Interns Program
Impact and Tasks
Organisation Structure
This project was to understand the organization Structure of competitors of CATKing, and
thereby making changes in the existing structure so as to improve the ecosystem of the
company.
The entire project had 4 important steps:
Step 1: Going to the competitor centres
Three competitors were assigned in this project, which were IMS, T.I.M.E, and career
launcher. The organization Structure of these three competitors had to be analysed.
Step 2: Understanding their hiring structure
While analysing these institutes, not just the organization Structure but also their hiring
procedures had to be studied. Different institutes had different structures. The task was to
figure out what works best for CATKing and accordingly take steps in that direction.
Step 3: Probing about the organization's hierarchy
After collecting the data for all three competitors, it was observed that IMS had the best
structure among the three. IMS is one of the oldest institutes for MBA exam trainings and has
good hiring structure as well. IMS has a different structure for different courses, thereby
making sure that each courses function independently, which would eventually improve the
efficiency of the employees.
Step 4: Presentation for the centres:
The organization Structure was arrived by visiting several branches of the three competitors
being analysed. The observation on the organization Structure and hiring procedures was
arrived at by understanding the structure at different branches, and finally merging all the
findings together so as to arrive at a conclusion.
Key Highlight:
One of the important findings of the project was that several competitors had a Franchise
Model, but CATKing did not. During this project, I had made recommendation to CATKing,
so that they may start with the franchise model, which would be beneficial for the company.
The idea was Implemented during the internship tenure and is made live on the website.
Organisation Structure
GLS – Presentation & Meetings
GLS refers to Global Leadership Summit, an event organized by CATKing at one of the
prime halls in Borivali.
The main objective of the project was to make the students realize about the importance of
MBA. the Interns which were hired in the CLP and HIP program were assigned the task to
invite several students for the program. The event comprised of 5 prominent speakers of the
industry, which were at the event so as to make the students understand the importance of
MBA.
Important Steps in this project:
Step 1: Making Presentation
Two important presentation were created by me for this project. One presentation was made
for pitching to the colleges and the other one, was used during the summit.
Step 2: Fixing up meetings with colleges for Sponsorship
This step involved interacting with several decision makers of the college. I had visited and
fixed meetings with important personnel of 4 MBA colleges for this project
Step 3: Attending the meeting
After fixing up meetings with several important decision makers of the college, the next step
was to making them understand the importance of the summit, and how this would be
beneficial for the college. Making sure that things may work out in the favour of CATKing
and sponsorship could be obtained.
Step 4: Closure
This project helped me to understand and learn several event management skills.
GLS – Presentation & Meetings
Solution Station
This project was to build more traffic for this application created.
The main purpose of this application was to answer the queries of the students related to
MBA entrance exams.
The strategy used was to utilize the interns from the HIP program to answer the questions.
This increase the website traffic. The number of unique organic individuals visiting the
website also increase. This project was like a parallel project and relatively of a shorter
duration.
Blogs – Content & SEO optimization
Blogs had to be written on several topics that were assigned during the internship tenure. 4
blogs had been written by me during the internship. These blogs had several requirements,
such as minimum 800 words, no plagiarism, etc. Only if all the criteria were satisfied, the
blogs were accepted.
All the 4 blogs that were assigned were accepted. Writing a blog first involved understanding
the topic that the blog is being written on. Extensive research was performed in
understanding the contents, and accordingly putting down the understanding of the topic.
These blogs were SEO optimized.
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of affecting the online visibility of a website
or a web page in a web search engine's unpaid result.
The blogs are useful for students who are searching for some information on a particular
topic. Hence, it is important that the information is correct, relevant and properly written.
Written several blogs help me improve my writing skills.

ERP – Training Manual & Implementation
The enterprise resource planning software used by CATKing is known as EIS – Easy Institute
Software.
The idea of this project was to understand the entire system, create a training manual,
implement the system across all centres and train all the employees for utilization of the
same.
The entire process of understanding the system through one of the representatives of the
software company took lot of time as minor details were explained. I was the lead for this
project, wherein my duty was to understand the system, create the manual, explain it to the
other interns so that they could get the system implemented at the other centres.
After drafting the manual, a mail was sent across to all the employees to go through the
manual. The details of all the students were uploaded in the format suited for the software.
I handled the implementation at the Borivali centre. After uploading all the data, a formal
training was personally given to the employees and the activities were monitored.
It is a very useful system as it stores all data of not only students (payments, follow-ups) but
also, the employees. Attendance of the employees can also me monitored through this
system.
ERP – Training Manual & Implementation
I was responsible for preparation of the training manual of the ERP software &
implementation of the same in Borivali office. Under this project, I had to get a deep
understanding of the system and then designing the flow of the information, registering all
the required data into the system and then creating performance indicators upon which the
progress of the organization would be measured.
This implementation required a lot of extensive study of the software and I was also
responsible for the training centre manager for the ERP software.
Retention Sales
Retention Sales
The project on retention sales was to pitch several courses for students across several
colleges, according to their requirements.
Following steps were involved in Retention Sales
Step 1: Listing Colleges
The first step was to select the colleges that could be our potential clients. Several colleges
were listed so as select the target colleges.
Step 2: Finding Contact Details
After selecting the list of college, the next step was to get in touch with the correct person of
a particular college. Finding out the contact details of the person concerned was done in this
step
Step 3: Pitching the module
After the concerned person has been approached, the next step was to pitch the module.
Making the person aware about its importance, etc was to be done in this step
Step 4: Forwarding the Proposal or Scheduling the meeting
After pitching the module to the concerned person, the next step is the follow up call.
Forwarding the Proposal or Scheduling the meeting so as to understand the requirements of a
particular college is done in this step
Step 5: Attending the Meeting
All the important aspects are to be touched upon.
Step 6: Sending in the minutes of the meeting
In this step, all the important points discussed are to be sent across
Step 7: Fixing up the next appointment
A follow up must be done, so as to fix up the next appointment

Research – GST Saving & Database
marketing
This was a short duration project where the data was required and research needed to
be done for the same.
For getting the data for GST saving the current budget, GST policies had to be gone
through in detail. Competitive analysis was done so as to understand what strategy was
followed by other coaching institutes for saving GST. A detailed document was then
forwarded regarding the same.
Database marketing was a new venture which the organization was contemplating to
get into. Database marketing refers to the selling of data that exists by segregating
them according to the need of the customers. The initial research was done online to
understand the basics of this business. Eventually meetings were set up with
representatives of data marketing companies to understanding the operating module.
This also helped us in understanding the commercials used by the organisation.
This project improved my learning about a new dimension altogether.

Summary and Conclusion
Summary and Conclusion
During this summer internship, I was able to complete all the projects that were assigned to
me. Social media advertisements on Facebook and LinkedIn created huge impact and were
successful. Bridge courses are also getting good response while webpages designed by me
also working perfectly fine. The brand book created by me was liked by the Directors and
owners of the organisation. The HIP project created a great impact on social media
These two months proved to be a huge learning curve for me. This summer internship was
the experience that I needed to explore certain areas of my persona and improve upon them
before getting ready for the big game. Be it communication skills, work ethics, discipline,
honesty towards work, I have evolved a lot and learned that there is no getting around these
aspects and I have become a lot more process oriented rather than result oriented.
This experience was made even better because of the mentors and peers that I got to work
with. We had a team of 15 MLPs and it was very diverse group of people, which only added
to the experience.
Major learnings from the internship:
• It is very important to have a good core team for any organization to achieve the goals and
objectives.
• Discipline and dedication is important to work in a team culture.
• It is not a good idea to make opinion about people without knowing them well.
• Humility is as important as having knowledge and skill level in order to create an impact in
organization.

  • 9. Competition Analysis Do you have any idea about the number of students appearing for MBA against the number of seats available in B-schools? The ratio might completely baffle you. It’s more than 2 lakh students V/s 13000 seats in MBA. Well, take a deep breath! This data is not to scare you. Rather, this is just to show you the kind of competition you are getting into. As tough is the competition, so should be the preparation. More than hard work, cracking an MBA exam requires smart work. And that’s where MBA coaching comes into the picture. These days every coaching claims to be the best, which makes it all the more difficult for a student to take the right decision.

Interns where hired to bring in more business by making more students enrol to CATKing. However, one of the problems that was noticed is that the number of interns had to be increased. This is because, as the number of interns go up, more are the number of calls and so more number of students enrolling, thereby resulting in an increase in the overall revenue of the company. Hiring was increased through several websites such as Internshala, letsintern, etc. Initially, CATKing paid no fixed stipend to its interns, and only had performance related pay and a certificate. One of the important changes that were made in this program was to introduce a fixed pay portion, so that more and more interns show interest in the job, and thereby we could make sure that the objective of starting this project is achieved. This project had a great learning experience, as selecting right candidate for the job was important so as to make sure that the overall benefit of the project is achieved.

  • 50. Summary and Conclusion During this summer internship, I was able to complete all the projects that were assigned to me. Social media advertisements on Facebook and LinkedIn created huge impact and were successful. Bridge courses are also getting good response while webpages designed by me also working perfectly fine. The brand book created by me was liked by the Directors and owners of the organisation. The HIP project created a great impact on social media These two months proved to be a huge learning curve for me. This summer internship was the experience that I needed to explore certain areas of my persona and improve upon them before getting ready for the big game. Be it communication skills, work ethics, discipline, honesty towards work, I have evolved a lot and learned that there is no getting around these aspects and I have become a lot more process oriented rather than result oriented. This experience was made even better because of the mentors and peers that I got to work with. We had a team of 15 MLPs and it was very diverse group of people, which only added to the experience. Major learnings from the internship: • It is very important to have a good core team for any organization to achieve the goals and objectives. • Discipline and dedication is important to work in a team culture. • It is not a good idea to make opinion about people without knowing them well. • Humility is as important as having knowledge and skill level in order to create an impact in organization.
