2. Figurative Language
Figurative Language is about speech that is not
meant to be taken literally. It adds drama and
comedy to every day language.
3. Idiom
A group of words whose meanings are different from
the ordinary meaning, often repeated and develop a
new meaning of their own.
EX: That's the ol’ ball’n chain.
Piece of cake.
My Example of an Idiom, is “Its raining cats and
dogs.
4. Hyperbole
A great exaggeration used to emphasize a point, and
is used for expressive or comic relief.
“It's so fluffy, I’m going to die!
“I am so hungry I could eat a whole elephant!”
5. Simile
One thing is compared to another unlike thing by using
(I.E like, as, or resembles)
Ex: you're like a miniature Buddha covered in her hair.
I am going to come at you like a spider monkey.
Winnie The Pooh- I shall fly like a bee up to the honey
tree see?
6. Onomatopoeia
Formation of a word from a sound associated with
what is named, or from nature.
EX: Who! Whoo! whoop! There it is!
From Batman- The words Pow! Wham! Crash!
Eeeyow! Clange! are examples of onomatopoeia.
7. Personification
Speaking of something that is not human as if it had
human abilities and human reactions.
EX: The skeleton took a shower.
Luigi, Lightning and Queen are cars who talk, in real
life we know cars can not talk.
