2. Band members:
Initial band (poorer lighting) Current band (better lighting)
We had difficulties with schedule and timings with our initial band members when we
started filming. We overcame this issue by recruiting new band members. This meant
we had to re-film any performance footage we had. However, we used this as an
opportunity to change and improve the lighting set up.
3. Amount of performance in the
music video:
Our initial plans for the video that
we recorded on the animatics
included more narrative footage
that we have actually included.
We did this because we thought
having more performance shots
was more appropriate for the
genre.
In most Rock or Indie Rock
videos, footage of the band
members performance is a main
concept.
4. Field location:
We had initially planned to
use Hogs Back field near the
town centre for our field
location narrative scenes.
We had to change this due
to the fact that travelling to
town for our filming would
have been costly and time
consuming.
We chose to film at Merrow Downs instead. This is a field location near the school.
This was more appropriate because it is within walking distance of our Sixth Form,
much more accessible.
5. Field location (Merrow Downs)
continued:
In our storyboard and animatics we had
planned to have zooming in/out shots of the
vocalist and him simply seeing his ‘other self’
around the field.
However, we thought the narrative would
be a lot more interesting if we made it into
a chase scene between the vocalist and
his ‘other self’ using P.O.V camera shots.
6. Reducing song length:
The original song was a total of 4 minutes 56 seconds.
We believed that this was too long and
we would struggle to create enough
interesting footage to cover five minutes
of music in the time we had. To
overcome this issue we shortened the
song length by nearly a minute by
removing one of the choruses.
