Before police began patrolling more often no one would do this due to the fear that someone would
rob them. Many people had terrible experiences in front of their children or even by themselves as
they exercised. Local, State, and Federal agencies have contributed together on a mission known as
Detroit One and they made arrests of 33 suspects of gang affiliated members known as Latin counts.
"Police would not say how many Latin Counts members remain or how the arrests will impact the
gang 's operations, but they did say this joint effort to root out violent criminals has resulted in more

I choose to write about the Detroit Industry Murals by Diego Rivera. Rivera was a prominent
Mexican painter who was commissioned to paint murals based on Detroit's history and development
of industry. The work is from the early modern age (1933). The murals depict the interior of the
Ford automotive plant on the river Rough. I found it interesting that although the paintings represent

She was an unknown, an older female who has impact on him as a teacher. The little boys states, "I
felt the small bright hope that my life could different by the love that I felt for our teacher Miss
Johnson" (p.212). As a poor Italian boy living in Canada, he felt that Miss Johnson, the older wiser

How can a ninety–year–old hotel represent the people of Detroit in 2014? I wondered the exact
same thing when my group decided to focus on the Book–Cadillac Hotel for our project. When
presented with the list of choices for this assignment, we saw a few familiar Detroit landmarks –
The Motown Museum, Comerica Park, and Fox Theatre, for example. Our group figured that we
should choose a place that we had never even heard of so we could have the opportunity to learn
some of the history of Detroit, while also learning about the people of Detroit; and thus, we landed
on the Book–Cadillac Hotel. Through research, it is clear to see that although the Book–Cadillac

It is clear that this was a deliberate decision; they wanted the hotel to justly represent their great city
of Detroit. To fully exhibit the wealth of Detroit at this time, Louis Kamper, the designer of the
building, used an Italian Renaissance style with influences of Venetian and Egyptian elements
(Detroit Historical Society). When it opened, the building was the tallest hotel in the world and the
tallest building in the city. With 33 floors and 1,136 rooms the Book–Cadillac was the premier hotel
of Detroit, hosting many social events and rooming many presidents, dignitaries, and entertainers
(Abandoned). According to Martelle, the success of the Book–Cadillac hotel "marked Detroit's
emergence as a self–aware city, with its [higher] class investing massive sums ... trying to rival

every community around the country has experienced some type of catastrophic infrastructure
failure that has led to a "large–scale service interruptions, significant property damage, and human

began to make significant employment layoffs, pay cuts and cuts in benefits to government workers,

example, when he is introducing the reader to Prevost's enemy, Major General Sir Isaac Brock he
claims, "Brock was encouraged by what he found (in Upper Canada) and saw the benefits of
providing some tactical support on the perimeter." In this statement, Carter–Edwards leaves the
reader wondering what elements, what things encouraged him to stay in province. In this case, he
failed at providing context, and fully developing his statement. In my opinion, one aspect that could
have been beneficial for his readers would have been to include maps. Carter–Edwards mentions
many forts such as Fort Meigs and Fort Stephenson, as well as the "road between Sandwich and
Fort Amherstburg," and also mentions places such as Maumee and Sandusky. Although, being from
Windsor, I recognized certain names, I did not know them all. I believe that a map that included all
the locations and forts that he mentions would be a great visual to the article; because, the reader

The two totally different pieces of art, "The Spirit of Detroit" and "The Last Supper" both symbolize
the same meaning, religion and human feelings. "The Spirit of Detroit" and "The Last Supper" took
three years to create their piece of art. "The Last Supper" was started in 1495 and was finished in
1498. "The Spirit of Detroit" shows symbolism by holding a bronze sphere that represents religion

the largest cast iron bronze statue since the renaissance. "The Spirit of Detroit" is a man with his
