Some were dressed for work whereas others were dressed casually. There are two main newspapers
that are delivered to the 28216 area, the Charlotte Observer and the Mountain Island Weekly. There
are billboards promoting local schools, businesses, and public awareness. The busses also have
advertisements in the form of posters on them. These posters can also be found in the local
university, in small shopping centers, and in health care facilities. The people of the 28216 area code
vary. Some were unemployed, others were students, and then there were the workers out on their
lunch break. Dress style also varied in this area. Some wore work uniforms and others were casually
dressed. There were no animals seen during observations, but when speaking with some of the
residents many spoke of having dogs. Cars and up keep of homes showed the individual's class and
as previously mentioned class ranges from lower to middle class. The Education and Health field
consists of 11% of the workforce and Retail/Wholesale consists of 9% of the workforce in 28216.
Other industries in the area include Manufacturing and Finance/Real Estate. There are also
employees at the local stores, banks, restaurants, university, and health care facilities. The fire
station and the two police departments also are places for employment even though the fire station
appeared to be rather small. The most common ethnic group in 28216 is African

Essay on The Truth behind The Foster System
Children play a key component in lives today. Unfortunately many children do not have the ability
of having a stable home or school to call their own, while parents are not in the picture as well. This
is an issue that is ignored by society and most importantly the government; in some cases. Without
the foster system, children would be left abandon and forgotten by all. The foster system provides
thousands of homes for foster children each year, with parents that can give them what they need.
The American foster systems are failing; however, they can be improved through mentoring
programs and finding more stable homes for foster children. Many reasons exist as to why the foster
system is failing and a major one is the number of children ... Show more content on

As long as the number of foster parents does not increase there could be up to six foster children in
one home ("All Foster" 9). Advertisements could be used to promote the value of having more foster
parents. These advertisements could include the number of children in the system to the number of
foster parents. Having parents in lives of foster children will give them a chance to have a better life.
Without the proper form of a "home" or better yet a family, children are not well equipped for life
and the struggles they may face. The foster system is wonderful for protecting children from strife
they may encounter with their biological parents, but it can do more harm than good. "'The longer
kids stay in foster care the more moves they have, the worse they become socially and emotionally'
Blanco said" (Chavers 9). States around the country are now trying to figure out a way to find
permanent, safe, stable homes for youth in foster care (Chavers 1).
Georgia and Los Angeles County are two of the documented places that are taking a stand on the
issue of foster care. Los Angeles County started a program called, Permanency Partners Program,
this program is dedicated to finding permanent homes for youth 12–18 years of age. All because of
this program 34,500 foster children have found a home since 1998 (Chavers 45). In 2009, Georgia
started permanency roundtables, which would help the more critical cases find a home (Chavers 8).
Out of the 943 children who had the

Bidleville Case Study
Biddleville like many "ring villages", was a community that shared a distinct southern uniqueness in
that it was one of a dozen villages or communities that were established on the edge or outer ring of
the city.
Founded after the Civil War around the college, the community was established with assistance and
major influence in the 1890's by the Myers family. A prominent white family, who touted the
community as a "Model Negro housing development".
The early make up of this village derived from post–war clusters of slaves and free blacks who did
not live on their master's property.
W. R. Myers, a very prominent land owner and businessman donated land for the nucleus of what
now is Johnson C. Smith University, and aided in establishing and building Good ... Show more

Peter's Episcopal Church which at the time was a very influential and powerful body in Charlotte at
the turn of the century. This association gave credibility and prominence to members in the
Biddleville community that were educated and or held employment that was deemed respectable
and or admirable at the time for a person of color.
The community prospered and as the city grew and incorporated the Biddleville area, large
developments of white communities, such as Roslyn and Smallwood was built in close proximity.
This expansion also brought transportation resources such as the trolley line.
The culture that had been established helped those that were educated, or aligned with thinking of
the
"model negro" doctrine were not necessarily benefactors of the positive growth.
As Urban renewal ramped up in the 1960's sections of the inner city were torn down, which in turn
caused a shift of the black population. The communities in and around Biddleville that were
previously white working class were now over taken by Charlotte's black population.
As the white community moved out, so did resources that were previously available. The

What is Corporate Responsibility Essay
What is CSR? CSR or Corporate Social Responsibility indicates the actions or conducts that have
strategic importance to companies. CSR has been defined as a company's efforts or obligations in
reducing and getting rid of any detrimental effects on the community and maximizing long–term
beneficial effects to the company and community in which it operates (Mohr et al, 2001, cited
Trendafilova et al, 2013). CSR usually starts with the general emphasis that businesses are not only
responsible to generate economic returns for shareholders, but are also responsible to the
environment and to other stakeholders. This is usually known as the "triple bottom line" – the
company's returns for investors, the environment and stakeholders (Markley, ... Show more content

This is the direct outcome of pride in the company's practices and products (Hohnen and Potts,
2007). Also, staffs who perceive their company to be socially responsible will be more committed to
the company and out–perform those staffs who perceive a huge deal of irresponsibility. Besides, the
company's performance is likely to improve because employees see a socially responsible
organization as a just organization and return this fairness through dedication and loyalty (Gross,
2011). Another advantage of doing CSR to companies is increased sales and market share.
Consumers prefer to be associated with a firm that is ethical and has a positive image or in other
words, does CSR. Various companies have become innovative and started to contribute a fair
portion of their sales to certain cause. This has 2 fold advantages that is, it boost the brand image
and helps in product differentiation and thus increases its sales (Soulace.in, 2014). Nevertheless,
there are also undeniably, limitations of doing CSR. One of the limitations of doing CSR is that
doing CSR does not necessarily pay or in other words the money companies put into doing CSR
may not necessarily bring about calculable financial results. One of the reasons why CSR does not
necessarily pay is because only some consumers know or care about the environmental or social
records of firms. Practically all goods and services continue to be purchased by consumers on

21 schools in which 14000 African Americans attend that are 99% of their race only. The rest of the
African American students, about 10000 students, attend integrated school. In this case, the plaintiff,
Swann, had come forth to bring the board of education to the court. It all started when Dr. Darius
Swann, professor at Johnson C. Smith University, wanted to enroll his child to an almost all white
school closer to his home, which he was rejected.
5) Issues: There were many issues in this case and they were: 1) whether or not the suggested plan
would actually end segregation 2) if the courts are protected under the fourteenth amendment to take
action to end the segregation in schools.
6) Decision and Rationale: District Court ordered the school system to create a plan that would
allow for improvements for the integration and finally end the segregation. The

Emotional Intelligence and Nursing
"Emotional Intelligences and Reflective Practice are Integral Components of Building a Therapeutic
Relationship in Nursing" Emotional intelligence refers to an ability to recognize the meanings of
emotion and its therapeutic relationships, and to reasons for problem–solving in nursing. This is
involved in the capacity to recognize emotions, adapt emotion–related to feelings, understand the
information of those emotions, and manage it. Reflective practice is a process by which one stops
and think about their practice, knowingly analyse ones decision making and clarifying ones thoughts
and doubts. As a result, one may modify ones actions, behaviour, treatments and learning needs.

The Future of College Education
The reality of today's job market is that well–paying blue collar jobs have rapidly become a thing of
the past. To ensure financial stability and career development a college degree is now a necessity
rather than an advantage. Statistics show that more high school students are entering college than
ever before. The National Center for Education Statistics showed enrollment in colleges increasing
11% from 1990 to 2000 and then an incredible 37% between 2000 and 2010 ("Digest of education,"
2012, Chapter 4). They are leaving school with more debt than ever before and total student loan
debt held by the US government has exceeded a trillion dollars (Rohit, 2013). The economic

The importance of having a degree will only increase in the years to come. This leads to the question
of how to afford an education when the cost is forecast to rise at astonishing rates. The Rising Cost
of Education For most graduates today the cost of their college education is only eclipsed by the
cost of their home. A college degree as we know it today is an expensive endeavor. According to the
U.S. Department of Education, the average yearly price is $13,600 for a public 4 year school and
$36,300 for a private school ("Digest of education," 2012, Chapter 3). Accounting for inflation these
prices are up over 200% from their 1980 levels ("Tuition costs of," 2012). U.S. News & World
Report estimates that these numbers will grow to $44,047 per year for a public school and $205,000
per year for a private school for the graduating class of 2030 ("How much will," 2012). In recent
years state governments have looked to their public schools as an area for cutting budgets. Each of
these estimates are based around a stable economy for the next 18 years with little disruption to
current funding mechanisms... Any significant change to state funds provided to public schools
could have a serious effect on future tuition costs. Since out of pocket payment for children's
education is out of reach for the majority of Americans, traditional wisdom has suggested saving for

a. The Definition of Cooperative Learning
The three important features of Cooperative Learning
First, cooperative learning is a kind of group work. Learners have to work together in small groups
between two and six members.
Second, learning is structured to ensure that everyone in the group is able to fulfill the learning task.
Third, students have to be dependent on each other to achieve their learning goals.
b. Student Team Learning
– "Students work together in four member teams to master material initially presented by the
teacher."
– There are three elements which are central to all Student Team Learning methods namely team
rewards, individual accountability, and equal opportunities
a. Team rewards means if students are rewarded for doing better than they have in the past they will
be more motivated to reach than if they are rewarded for doing better than others.
b. Individual accountability means that the success of a team relies on the learning of every
individual in all team members.
c. Equal opportunities mean that students can contribute to their teams by improving over their past
performance.

Critical Challenges Facing African American Men in Pursuit of the Doctoral Degree: What
Institutions Must Do Introduction– [Build a case as to why this is a problem] Doug A severe
underrepresentation of Black male doctoral students and earned doctorates exist in the United States
(Harper, 2010). Lack of financial resources, poor academic preparation, absence of relationships
with faculty, and low motivation contribute to the disparity of black males with conferred doctoral
degrees (Proctor, 2009). The percentage of doctoral degrees awarded to African Americans has

Harper (2012) connoted that more Black men are beginning to pursue PhD's experiencing a 109%
increase in post–baccalaureate degree attainment. This evidence is a testament that Black men make
conscious decisions and efforts to pursue postsecondary education (Collins, 2012). Some of the
goals of schooling and society in the United States are to develop students and citizens, who have
high aspirations, believe in their capabilities, are hopeful they can realize their aspirations, and are
optimistic about their future in general. Such characteristics are important because each leads to
overall well–being (Bandura, 1977; Scheirer & Carver, 1985; Snyder et al., 1991), student
achievement and higher graduation rates (Snyder et al., 2002) through a personal sense of urgency
which allows them to take control of their life, challenge themselves, persevere through difficulties,
and cope when obstacles arise (McBride, 2012). Why Black Men Pursue The PhD – Jamel Parent
guidance, direction, and encouragement provide a strong stimulus for Black men to engage in the
pursuit of the PhD. Harper (2012) asserted that Black men in postsecondary education are present

Discrimination In School Discrimination
It is no secret that in American schools minority students are often discriminated against, and this
discrimination is often thought of as the school's fault for not teaching their students the proper
manners and respect, however this discrimination stems from home and is brought into the school
by children when it is learned from parents or other outside sources. Since children are so
impressionable, it is very easy for them to mimic their parents actions, so if a parent displays a racist
action in front of their child then it is highly likely that the child will pick up on that action and
imitate it in an attempt to please their parent. Additionally, if parents teach their children color
blindness it is just as destructive as a child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This enforces what Alvy had discovered, that parents are the primary source of influence over their
children and because they are the primary source of influence when the parent makes a racist mark
or does a racist action, the child then proceeds to do the same. However, the racism that is brought
into schools is not 100 percent of the time learned from parents. Adults shape children's
understanding of which categories matter to people, but children often end up forming their own
presumptions about the differences among those categories. Over time, though, societal messages
about race can reinforce biases children may be forming, according to professor Erin N. Winkler. In
addition, some parents may make the mistake of teaching their children to be "colorblind",
explained by Monica T. Williams is "the racial ideology that posits the best way to end
discrimination is by treating individuals as equally as possible, without regard to race, culture, or

Minority Scholarship
It was Monday, August 22, 2010, my Sophomore year of high school that I first stepped foot in the
classroom of Mr. Telsee's Principles of Accounting course. I was overwhelmed with thoughts of
intimidation, which blinded me from understanding my full potential. Mr. Telsee distinctively
educated students on how to connect realistic situations to complex problems. After finally grasping
the basic accounting concepts and cycles, I knew accounting was for me. I am a living testimony
that success happens the moment you step out of your comfort zone. "The best way to find yourself
is to lose yourself in the service of others." – Mahatma Gandhi. Mr. Telsee was more than just an
accounting teacher. He taught and instilled in his students many valuable lessons beyond the
classroom. As a veteran, he was a man of service. He sacrificed his life for the lives of others. Mr.
Telsee instilled in me the importance of serving and advocating for others. To always display high
moral and ethical character, essentially the key characteristics of any great CPA. After passing away
in 2012, I made it my duty to give to others what he gave to me. My life–long dream is to establish a

Tranquille Berbiguier's, Trio in B–flat Major, Op. 51, No. 1 was performed next. It was much

The movement that occurred next was Divertimento for Clarinet Quartet. Throughout this piece,

Why Team And Teamwork Come Up With Better Solution
Introduction An organization needs to produce profitable outcomes in order to be successful and this
is where team and teamwork come in role. A team can be defined as a group of people pooling their
skills, talents and knowledge. (Scholtes, Peter, 1988) The elements of engagement and mutual
accountability , define a team as a small group of people so dedicated to something greater than
themselves, that they will not be denied. For this course a team is defined "as a group of people
collectively drive toward a common goal , capitalising and respecting the skills and knowledge of all
people." (Katzenbach, J., and Smith, D., 1993) It is said "two brains function better than one" and
this is what happens in a team. When people come together for a common goal excellent results are
achieved. Importance of a team in an organization: When is comes to solving a problem more
people come up with better solution. They can better visualize a situation and reach to a clear
definition of a problem. Thus no problem for long can hamper the company's goal of being
successful. A team shares workload, responsibilities and help each other while working together. All
members are given work according to their capabilities and field of interest. The output thus results
in faster and efficient results. An organization has multiple areas that need to be taken care of. If an
individual is responsible for a number of tasks then many of them might suffer and take a backseat,
as all things cannot be

Technology’s Negative Impact on Romantic Relationships
Social networking and other social technology allows for interactions to occur between friends and
family regardless of their location. While people remain social through communicating at a constant
rate, the essence of face–to–face interactions is in part affected. In romantic relationships, open and
honest communication with one's partner is critical to the trust and development of the relationship.
Young adults use social technology such as the Internet and mobile phones on a daily basis to
maintain their relationships. Due to the miscommunication that often occurs from not a lack of face–
to–face interactions, social technology shapes the way romantic relationships function. Therefore,
social technology impacts romantic relationships ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The presence of a catfish may "vary widely (ranging from personal Web sites to anonymous chat
rooms), and they often do not include the expectation of future face–to–face interaction" (Toma,
Hancock, & Ellison 2008, p. 12). Without the expectation that one will eventually have a face–to–
face interaction, there is no need to worry about the false catfish digital self. The ease of access to
dating websites and social networking sites like Facebook allows for the creation of these profiles.
Hence, due to the lack of a physical presence, people do not always have all of the materials to fully
understand and greet the person they engage with on the Internet. Therefore, as a result people may
utilize digital technology to create a false persona and online self, creating a strain on the
relationship of the interlocutors, and potential negative repercussions for the future of the potential
relationship.
Social networking sites create a space where one can express their identity, and convey to the world
their current status of social activities. The accessibility of the information on the Internet allows for
anyone with access to the page to learn exactly what the other person does. Interpersonal electronic

astonishing twenty–nine of them. Some of these cases had a significant impact on the livelihood of
blacks living in America at that time and continue to effect their lives today. One of these cases was
Smith v. Allwright. The outcome of this case declared that Texas' exclusion of black voters from
primary elections, known as the "White Primary", unconstitutional. By winning this case Marshall
not only paved the way for the removal of black voting laws, but he also made it public that the
Supreme Court was no longer going to ignore the constitutional rights of African Americans, that
had been discounted by state legislatures since the Civil War. In yet another governmental policy

Marshall directed a blow at the state level courts, forcing them to become aware of the nation's new

Assignment on Nursing Theoriest
Task Five Introduction Nursing theories are the guidelines to perform nursing practice effectively.
Since the origin of nursing practice, there are many remarkable theories have been developed.
According to Tomey & Alligood (2006), these theories have been classified mainly into four
different groups, which are, Philosophy, Conceptual model and Grand theories, Theories and Middle
range nursing theories. Benner's Dreyfus model of skill acquisition theory comes under the first
category, which is the philosophy. This essay discusses the significance of Dr Patricia Benner's skill

Explicating Benner's concept of expert practice. Benner applies effectively in various clinical
situations. According to the article of Lyneham, J., Parkinson, C., & Denholm, C. (2008) the
Expert stage of Benner's theory has been introduced effectively in emergency nursing care.
According to the fifth stage of her theory, expert nurses use 'intuition' in nursing practice. They don't
worry about the rules. Their rich experience gives them an intuitive approach towards the situation,
which enable them to take an appropriate decision in their nursing care. Similarly, the expert
emergency nurses are able to understand the pre–existing clinical situation with their ability of
intuition. Many years of experience help them to reach up to that level of understanding. From their
day to day practice, these expert nurses acquire new knowledge and their previous knowledge
becomes the part of their experience. As they gain fresh knowledge and skills, this reflects in their
practice. Meanwhile, they reach a level where they can take quick decision on any clinical situation
without having much intellectual involvement. Also, it is the outcome of their intuition which they
gain from their years of experience Benner, 1984; Smith, 2009). According to Lyneham et al.,

Child maltreatment such as physical and/or emotional ill–treatment, sexual abuse, neglect, intimate

criminal behavior are all family–based traumatic events which place the children at a higher risk for
exposure.
Children who witness single extreme events or those who suffer from chronic exposure to this type
of stimuli require mediations to mend the cognitive, emotional, and physiological damages caused
by violent acts. Interventions aim to create a climate in therapy that allows the child to learn how to
cope and continue healthy growth. This is made possible by a therapist who understands children 's

Essay on Red Hot Chili Peppers
Red Hot Chili Peppers
A passion for foods from the American Southwest is sweeping through the country. The main
component and most popular item of this fad is the chili pepper, an item of tremendous variability
and a staple of many people in Central America. In this country, chili peppers were once only found
in specialized ethnic stores, but now it is just as likely to be found at the neighborhood Kroger. For
most people, however, their knowledge stops here. Through this paper I hope to educate the reader
on some other aspects of this intriguing vegetable, such as its history, chemistry, and uses.

Dr. Chanca described chili peppers as the native's principle food and compared them to the turnip
(Andrews 1984).
The seeds of the chili pepper were brought back to Spain, where it was grown in monastery gardens.
Portuguese traders then spread the chili peppers to many far flung locations, such as India,
Indonesia, and Persia (Andrews 1984).
Chile peppers became popular due to their great variability in size, shape, and color. Unfortunately,
this long proved to be a problem for the taxonomists, who frequently had trouble telling the
difference between a different variety and a different species. It wasn't until the 1950's that it was
decided that there were five main species of chili peppers, and twenty wild ones (Proulx 1985). The
five main species are: Capsicum annum, Capsicum frutescens, Capsicum chinense, Capsicum
baccatum, and Capsicum pubescens. However, it is considered impossible to develop a system of
classification that would cover all of the chili peppers, due to the great variation among the members
of the same species, especially in places such as Mexico (Smith, Villalon, and Villa 1987).
Man's interest in chili peppers has resulted in new varieties, such as the TAM Jalapeno, Hidalgo
Serrano, and Numex Big Jim, which have a milder flavor or are more resistant to disease. In order to
make chili peppers more palatable to the public, chili pepper breeders are breeding varieties that are

The Truth behind the Foster Care System Essay
As family structure changes children pay the biggest price. They may lose the luxury of a stable
home or school to call their own, when parent are no longer in the picture either. This is an issue that
is largely ignored by society and most importantly the government. Without the foster system,
children would be left abandoned and forgotten by all. The foster system provides thousands of
homes for foster children each year, with parents that can give them what they need. But, foster care
in America is inadequate for all American foster children and needs to be improved. Improvements

There is also a lack of foster parents as well, to take in children. As long as the number of foster
parents does not increase, there could be up to six foster children in one home ("All Foster" 9). It
should become one of the top priorities to find stable homes for foster children to avoid the
overcrowding. A stable home for foster children is exceedingly critical but the health of foster
children is fundamental as well.
The health of children entering the foster system is very important, but not always stressed. When
entering the foster care system some children enter with health issues, such as developmental and
psychiatric disorders (All Foster par. 3). There could be many reasons why they enter with these
health issues. One could be due to the abuse and neglect many children encounter while with
biological parents (par. 3). While in the care of foster parents, the health of foster children can be
neglected as well (par. 4). "Younger foster children do not receive adequate preventive health care
while in placement, many significant problems go undetected, or, when diagnosed are not evaluated
and treated," stated U.S. General Accounting Office (par. 5). (The U.S. General Accounting Office is
an investigative arm for the U.S. Congress.) This is a problem and can result in death while a child
is in care. Between 2000 and 2007, about thirty foster children died while in the care of foster

November 13, 2015, and I was taken to the Cricket Preschool classroom for my child observation.
When I got there, there was only one child present at the class, and when I asked the teacher if he

Dave is a four (4) year old preschooler, who seems to be a little bit calm but playful. The classroom
is a very spacious room with various toys, furniture, books and other facilities that makes it ideal for
a preschooler's classroom. When I entered the classroom, Dave looked at me, and didn't seem to

Studies have shown that rigorous pre–kindergarten literacy interventions can result in positive
bearings from kindergarten through adulthood (Campbell, Ramey, Pungello, Sparling, & Miller–
Johnson, 2002; Heckman, Moon, Pinto, Savelyev, & Yavitz, 2010; Reynolds, Temple, White, Ou, &
Robertson, 2011). Because a child's cognitive skills are easily molded at a young age, literacy in
their early years lays a strong foundation for future academic success. Overall, attending pre–
kindergarten programs increases students' opportunities of reaching their reading level by 11
percent. (Lesnick, 2010) Children who have extensive exposure to vocabulary and reading in early
years have proven to have higher levels of success through elementary and middle school as well.
(Duncan et al., 2007; McClelland, Acock, & Morrison, 2006; National Early Literacy Panel, 2008).
Being able to read and write to think clearly and to communicate effectively is crucial to success in
school, as well as in life. Research showed that from birth to age 8 literacy development is crucial.
Exposure to oral and written language and through utilization of prior knowledge and language
experiences encourages successful literacy development. Using play, print, and oral language
children learn the significance of reading and writing.
Research taking place in several states across the United States have also recognized great gains

Auburn Penitentiary: Silent and Congregate Correctional Facility
Throughout the nineteenth century, penology was characterized by a debate between two 'schools'.
The first was the system of "solitary" and "segregation" proposed by the Pennsylvania penitentiary.
The second, that of which will be discussed in this paper, the "silent" and "congregate" system was
designed for the Auburn penitentiary in New York State.
The Auburn State Prison was built in 1816, occupied in 1821 and soon after became the model for
succeeding American prisons. Quaker thinking, in that "repentance for one's wrongs was best
attained through private contemplation, which was facilitated by the penitentiary concept",
influenced the Auburn prison. (Carney, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A number of procedures were devised to prevent communication in any form. In the dining halls, for
example, "prisoners were seated with their backs toward the centre so that each looked only at the
backs of others; in movement, the 'lockstep' formation was exclusively employed." (Cloward et al.,
1960: 26) The lockstep formation entailed "marching in single file, placing the right hand on the
shoulder of the man ahead, and facing toward the guard." (http://www.britannica.com) Constant
activity when out of the cells was key to prisoners adhering to the rules. These devices may be
understood as instruments used to suppress interaction among prisoners.
Prisoners not abiding by silence or working rules were punished. Punishments ranged from diets of
bread and water, banishment to the 'dark hole' or whippings with a cat–o'–nine–tail. (Johnson &
Wolfe: 135)
Auburn's idea of congregate labour paired with its architectural plan won the country to its idea of
the silent system. The solitary cellblocks were multitiered and very small, each measuring
approximately "31/2 by 7 and 7 ft. high." (McKelvey, 1968: 8) Initial construction costs were lower
and more space was provided given that the cells were so small on account of them only being
occupied at night. The Auburn layout contained, "inside cell blocks, back to

Emotions Paper
Emotions There are several functioned emotions that will be analyzed in this paper. Psychological
emotional arousal and cognitive activity can be very important. At least two historical theories of
emotion and arousal as they relate to human motivation such as; American psychologist Stanley
Schatcher as well Jerome Singer's theory will be examined. There will be at least two research
methods used for uncovering basic emotions analyze such as; Johnson–Laird and Oatley. Facial
feedback hypothesis, particularly the event–appraisal–emotion sequence will be discussed as well.

These basic emotions are active in pretty much everything we do and experience in our daily lives.
(2010 Motivation: Biological, Psychological, and Environmental) The next analysis is the evolution
theory. The evolution theory describes the emotional experiences that increase the need for survival.
For example if the basic emotion is sadness, other emotions that come up may include sorrow or
griefs, which are, expressed when we lose someone or something we love. If fear is the basic
emotion rage or hostility can be present as well. Emotions can be very powerful and are necessary
for basic survival, it is not always easy thought to read or understand other peoples emotions, over
the years people have become very good and hiding their emotions if they feel they need to. (2010
Motivation: Biological, Psychological, and Environmental) The last analysis is facial expression. In
most cases it is easy to see what kind of emotion someone is feeling by the look on their face. Eyes
are very good way to see how someone is feeling, because you can see happiness, sadness and anger
in their eyes. Each of the basic emotions is clearly defined just by looking at someone. There are
many different emotions that are expressed just by looking at someone. The basic emotions are
obvious, but there are other emotions like guilt, pride, worry and excitement that are seen as well. It
is amazing how easy it is sometimes to read peoples emotions. (2010

Physical Capabilities Of Athletes And Athletic Types
Outside appearance may be the most obvious difference between an athlete and nonathletic. Athletic
types tend to have more muscles and less body fat than more sedentary people. The physical
capabilities of athletes may exceed those who don 't regularly engage in exercise, and active sports
people also tend to have fewer health problems. In today's society exercise is something that our
society lacks. Did you know that athletes work out more than nonathletic? Throughout my paper I
will observe different fitness places and ask different people about how they work out. Such as what
is their mind set when they come to work out. Fitness is really important today's society. Do you

exercising room to do other things than working out on machines. This is a nice atmosphere for
people to come and exercise. I started observing this facility on June 22 and came and watched for
two days. I found a lot of athletes in there but found more non athletes. I asked interviewer # 1 this
question how often did they come? They respond back saying that they come three times a week.
Then I asked them were they and athlete and, they responded no. Lastly I asked her did she have and
workout plan or did she just come and do whatever comes to mind, she respond saying that she does
whatever comes to mind. Interviewer #2 from this place was and athlete from Johnson C smith
University I ask him how often does he attend the gym and he replaces saying that he come at least
five days a week. Next I asked him what is his goal or reasoning coming to this place is it because
he wants to do it or he comes because of football? He answered saying that he does it for his self
and most importantly he does it for football so when the season comes he is ready and does not get
his spot taken away. After interviewing these two people I just sat back and watch what they did
differently far as woman and man and non–athlete vs athlete. The woman workout her upper and
lower body using light weight. Far as the male he just worked out on his upper body and used heavy
weight. I continued to watch

  • 3. Essay on The Truth behind The Foster System Children play a key component in lives today. Unfortunately many children do not have the ability of having a stable home or school to call their own, while parents are not in the picture as well. This is an issue that is ignored by society and most importantly the government; in some cases. Without the foster system, children would be left abandon and forgotten by all. The foster system provides thousands of homes for foster children each year, with parents that can give them what they need. The American foster systems are failing; however, they can be improved through mentoring programs and finding more stable homes for foster children. Many reasons exist as to why the foster system is failing and a major one is the number of children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As long as the number of foster parents does not increase there could be up to six foster children in one home ("All Foster" 9). Advertisements could be used to promote the value of having more foster parents. These advertisements could include the number of children in the system to the number of foster parents. Having parents in lives of foster children will give them a chance to have a better life. Without the proper form of a "home" or better yet a family, children are not well equipped for life and the struggles they may face. The foster system is wonderful for protecting children from strife they may encounter with their biological parents, but it can do more harm than good. "'The longer kids stay in foster care the more moves they have, the worse they become socially and emotionally' Blanco said" (Chavers 9). States around the country are now trying to figure out a way to find permanent, safe, stable homes for youth in foster care (Chavers 1). Georgia and Los Angeles County are two of the documented places that are taking a stand on the issue of foster care. Los Angeles County started a program called, Permanency Partners Program, this program is dedicated to finding permanent homes for youth 12–18 years of age. All because of this program 34,500 foster children have found a home since 1998 (Chavers 45). In 2009, Georgia started permanency roundtables, which would help the more critical cases find a home (Chavers 8). Out of the 943 children who had the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bidleville Case Study Biddleville like many "ring villages", was a community that shared a distinct southern uniqueness in that it was one of a dozen villages or communities that were established on the edge or outer ring of the city. Founded after the Civil War around the college, the community was established with assistance and major influence in the 1890's by the Myers family. A prominent white family, who touted the community as a "Model Negro housing development". The early make up of this village derived from post–war clusters of slaves and free blacks who did not live on their master's property. W. R. The community prospered and as the city grew and incorporated the Biddleville area, large developments of white communities, such as Roslyn and Smallwood was built in close proximity. This expansion also brought transportation resources such as the trolley line. The culture that had been established helped those that were educated, or aligned with thinking of the "model negro" doctrine were not necessarily benefactors of the positive growth. As Urban renewal ramped up in the 1960's sections of the inner city were torn down, which in turn caused a shift of the black population. The communities in and around Biddleville that were previously white working class were now over taken by Charlotte's black population. • 7. What is Corporate Responsibility Essay What is CSR? CSR or Corporate Social Responsibility indicates the actions or conducts that have strategic importance to companies. CSR has been defined as a company's efforts or obligations in reducing and getting rid of any detrimental effects on the community and maximizing long–term beneficial effects to the company and community in which it operates (Mohr et al, 2001, cited Trendafilova et al, 2013). CSR usually starts with the general emphasis that businesses are not only responsible to generate economic returns for shareholders, but are also responsible to the environment and to other stakeholders. This is usually known as the "triple bottom line" – the company's returns for investors, the environment and stakeholders (Markley, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is the direct outcome of pride in the company's practices and products (Hohnen and Potts, 2007). Also, staffs who perceive their company to be socially responsible will be more committed to the company and out–perform those staffs who perceive a huge deal of irresponsibility. Besides, the company's performance is likely to improve because employees see a socially responsible organization as a just organization and return this fairness through dedication and loyalty (Gross, 2011). Another advantage of doing CSR to companies is increased sales and market share. Consumers prefer to be associated with a firm that is ethical and has a positive image or in other words, does CSR. Various companies have become innovative and started to contribute a fair portion of their sales to certain cause. This has 2 fold advantages that is, it boost the brand image and helps in product differentiation and thus increases its sales (Soulace.in, 2014). Nevertheless, there are also undeniably, limitations of doing CSR. One of the limitations of doing CSR is that doing CSR does not necessarily pay or in other words the money companies put into doing CSR may not necessarily bring about calculable financial results. One of the reasons why CSR does not necessarily pay is because only some consumers know or care about the environmental or social records of firms. Practically all goods and services continue to be purchased by consumers on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

BOARD OF EDUCATION, 402 U.S. 1 (1971) 2) Parties involved in the case: Plaintiff: Swann Defendant: Board of Education (Charlotte– Mecklenburg) 3) Dates: Argued: October 12, 1970 Decided: April 20, 1971 4) Facts: Since the verdict made by the Supreme Court on the Brown v. Board of Education case, little enactment was made in the Charlotte–Mecklenburg, North Carolina's school structure. There are 107 schools altogether, in which the student population is 84000. Within the structure, there are 21 schools in which 14000 African Americans attend that are 99% of their race only. The rest of the African American students, about 10000 students, attend integrated school. In this case, the plaintiff, Swann, had come forth to bring the board of education to the court. It all started when Dr. Darius Swann, professor at Johnson C. Smith University, wanted to enroll his child to an almost all white school closer to his home, which he was rejected. 5) Issues: There were many issues in this case and they were: 1) whether or not the suggested plan would actually end segregation 2) if the courts are protected under the fourteenth amendment to take action to end the segregation in schools. 6) Decision and Rationale: District Court ordered the school system to create a plan that would allow for improvements for the integration and finally end the segregation. Discrimination In School Discrimination It is no secret that in American schools minority students are often discriminated against, and this discrimination is often thought of as the school's fault for not teaching their students the proper manners and respect, however this discrimination stems from home and is brought into the school by children when it is learned from parents or other outside sources. Since children are so impressionable, it is very easy for them to mimic their parents actions, so if a parent displays a racist action in front of their child then it is highly likely that the child will pick up on that action and imitate it in an attempt to please their parent. Additionally, if parents teach their children color blindness it is just as destructive as a child ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This enforces what Alvy had discovered, that parents are the primary source of influence over their children and because they are the primary source of influence when the parent makes a racist mark or does a racist action, the child then proceeds to do the same. However, the racism that is brought into schools is not 100 percent of the time learned from parents. Adults shape children's understanding of which categories matter to people, but children often end up forming their own presumptions about the differences among those categories. Over time, though, societal messages about race can reinforce biases children may be forming, according to professor Erin N. Winkler. In addition, some parents may make the mistake of teaching their children to be "colorblind", explained by Monica T. Williams is "the racial ideology that posits the best way to end discrimination is by treating individuals as equally as possible, without regard to race, culture, or ethnicity." In essence, color blindness seems to be a good thing, it makes the notion that race does not matter, however, race does matter as it affects opportunities, perceptions, income, and much more and when race–related issues arise, color blindness tends to individualize conflicts and shortcomings, rather than examining the larger picture with cultural ... For this course a team is defined "as a group of people collectively drive toward a common goal , capitalising and respecting the skills and knowledge of all people." (Katzenbach, J., and Smith, D., 1993) It is said "two brains function better than one" and this is what happens in a team. When people come together for a common goal excellent results are achieved. Importance of a team in an organization: When is comes to solving a problem more people come up with better solution. They can better visualize a situation and reach to a clear definition of a problem. Thus no problem for long can hamper the company's goal of being successful. A team shares workload, responsibilities and help each other while working together. All members are given work according to their capabilities and field of interest. The output thus results in faster and efficient results. An organization has multiple areas that need to be taken care of. By addressing the courts and using his legal expertise, Marshall was able to have a more direct influence on society and the way government was treating blacks at the time. His use of the of the courts led to rulings that deemed the exclusion of blacks from primary elections, the use of racial profiling in terms of housing, the "separate but equal" mentality concerning working facilities and universities, and especially the segregation of elementary schools unconstitutional. The outcome of this case declared that Texas' exclusion of black voters from primary elections, known as the "White Primary", unconstitutional. By winning this case Marshall not only paved the way for the removal of black voting laws, but he also made it public that the Supreme Court was no longer going to ignore the constitutional rights of African Americans, that had been discounted by state legislatures since the Civil War. Since the origin of nursing practice, there are many remarkable theories have been developed. According to the article of Lyneham, J., Parkinson, C., & Denholm, C. (2008) the Expert stage of Benner's theory has been introduced effectively in emergency nursing care. According to the fifth stage of her theory, expert nurses use 'intuition' in nursing practice. They don't worry about the rules. Their rich experience gives them an intuitive approach towards the situation, which enable them to take an appropriate decision in their nursing care. Similarly, the expert emergency nurses are able to understand the pre–existing clinical situation with their ability of intuition. Many years of experience help them to reach up to that level of understanding. From their day to day practice, these expert nurses acquire new knowledge and their previous knowledge becomes the part of their experience. As they gain fresh knowledge and skills, this reflects in their practice. Meanwhile, they reach a level where they can take quick decision on any clinical situation without having much intellectual involvement. Dr. Chanca described chili peppers as the native's principle food and compared them to the turnip (Andrews 1984). The seeds of the chili pepper were brought back to Spain, where it was grown in monastery gardens. Portuguese traders then spread the chili peppers to many far flung locations, such as India, Indonesia, and Persia (Andrews 1984). Chile peppers became popular due to their great variability in size, shape, and color. Unfortunately, this long proved to be a problem for the taxonomists, who frequently had trouble telling the difference between a different variety and a different species. It wasn't until the 1950's that it was decided that there were five main species of chili peppers, and twenty wild ones (Proulx 1985). The five main species are: Capsicum annum, Capsicum frutescens, Capsicum chinense, Capsicum baccatum, and Capsicum pubescens. However, it is considered impossible to develop a system of classification that would cover all of the chili peppers, due to the great variation among the members of the same species, especially in places such as Mexico (Smith, Villalon, and Villa 1987). Man's interest in chili peppers has resulted in new varieties, such as the TAM Jalapeno, Hidalgo Serrano, and Numex Big Jim, which have a milder flavor or are more resistant to disease. They may lose the luxury of a stable home or school to call their own, when parent are no longer in the picture either. A stable home for foster children is exceedingly critical but the health of foster children is fundamental as well. The health of children entering the foster system is very important, but not always stressed. When entering the foster care system some children enter with health issues, such as developmental and psychiatric disorders (All Foster par. 3). There could be many reasons why they enter with these health issues. One could be due to the abuse and neglect many children encounter while with biological parents (par. 3). While in the care of foster parents, the health of foster children can be neglected as well (par. 4). "Younger foster children do not receive adequate preventive health care while in placement, many significant problems go undetected, or, when diagnosed are not evaluated and treated," stated U.S. General Accounting Office (par. 5). Auburn Penitentiary: Silent and Congregate Correctional Facility Throughout the nineteenth century, penology was characterized by a debate between two 'schools'.
