7. Aviation Regulations-
• Aviation regulations cover almost all legal issues affecting
aircraft and airport operations, including aircraft navigation and
maintenance, air traffic control safety, and personnel licensing
requirements.
• Regulation of International Air Transport
• The process and structure of international air transport
regulation have three distinct venues –
1.National Regulation
2.Bilateral Regulation
3.Multilateral Regulation
8. • The process of national regulation of air transport services has
three basic components.
• Let’s understand with examples –
• Legislative – Making of laws, policies, rules and regulations.
• Licensing – Granting, conditioning, denying or withholding of
permission to conduct air transport services on a continuous or
long-term basis.
• Ad hoc authorization – Granting, conditioning, denying or
withholding of permission for individual tariffs, flights, etc.
9. • BILATERAL REGULATION
• Bilateral regulation is regulation undertaken jointly by two
parties, most typically by two States
• MULTILATERAL REGULATION
• Multilateral regulation is regulation undertaken jointly by three
or more States, within the framework of an international
organization and/or a multilateral treaty or agreement,
10. SMS- Safety management
system
• Aerospace’s Safety Management System
(SMS) approach successfully completes all the
requirements for developing and implementing
an SMS specific to your organisation.
• We use our extensive SMS expertise, training,
and materials to analyse your current safety
program, risk mitigation policies and
procedures against the International Civil
Aviation Organization (ICAO) and FAA
guidelines.

14. Aims and objectives of ICAO
• The aims and objectives of ICAO, as contained in Article 44 of the Chicago Convention, are to
develop the principles and techniques of international air navigation and to foster the planning and
development of international air transport so as to:
1. Ensure the safe and orderly growth of international civil aviation throughout the world;
2. Encourage the arts of aircraft design and operation for peaceful purposes;
3. Encourage the development of airways, airports and air navigation facilities for international civil
aviation;
4. Meet the needs of the peoples of the world for safe, regular, efficient and economical air
transport;
5. Prevent economic waste caused by unreasonable competition;
6. Ensure that the rights of Member States are fully respected and that every Member State has a
fair opportunity to operate international airlines;
7. Avoid discrimination between Member States;
8. Promote safety of flight in international air navigation; and
9. Promote generally the development of all aspects of international civil aeronautics.
