Dr. Yasser Gaber
A collabora=ve project was ini=ated between the Egyp=an Society for
Construc=on represented by Mr. Wael Sabry , the founder of the
project idea, and Beni-Suef University represented by Dr.
Yasser Gaber. The project was granted 1,000,000 EGP by the
Academy for Scien=fic Research and Technology for a period of 18
months.
The project aims to find alterna=ves for the current road pavement
techniques. The alterna=ves will be based on microbes and their
products. The expected outcome is reduc=on of the cost of road
pavement and improvement of the roads quali=es.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amal Saafan
A research project on Hepa==s Virus C has been granted 40,000 EGP
by the Scien=fic Research Development Unit, Beni Suef University for
a period of 18 months.
The project is coordinated by Dr. Amal Saafan and en=tled
"Predic=on of the Response to Interferon and Rebavirin Treatment in
Egyp=an Chronic Hepa==s C Virus Infec=on by Inves=ga=on of
Interleukins 10, 12 and 18, and IL-28B Single Nucleo=de
Polymorphism".
The project hypothesis that the serum interleukin levels can be
valuable for predic=ng the success of the response to the treatment
response in HCV pa=ents. IL-10, IL-12 and IL-18 can be useful markers
to predict response to treatment. IL-28B gene polymorphism may
also have rela=on to the response to the therapy.

10. Dr. Ahmed Osama Elgendy
A collabora)ve project between Facul)es of Postgraduate Studies for
Advanced Sciences (FOPSAS) represented by Assoc. Prof. Ahmed
Fargali and Assoc. Prof. Tamer Essam with Department of
Microbiology and Immunology represented by Dr. Ahmed Osama El-
Gendy en)tled “Nanocomposites, a novel approach to op)mize,
purify and enhance the an)bacterial ac)vity of a potent bacteriocin
(Enterocin OS13)” has been granted a fund of 40,000 EGP from the
Center of Research at the University.
The project focuses on op)mizing the prepara)on of enterocin O13-
nanopar)cles nanocomposites to enhance the produc)on,
purifica)on and/or an)microbial ac)vi)es of enterocin O13. The final
formula)on of the most relevant nanocomposites will be fully
characterized and extensively evaluated.
