Question 3
TO WHAT EXTENT DO ADDITIONAL WAYS OF MAKING MONEY
AFFECT THE KIND OF FILMS THAT HOLLYWOOD MAKES?
When a film is chosen it has to go through planning stages such as
the production finances once it receives the “green light” the film
can be moved to the next stage of production this comprises the
development phase and the pre-production also a plan for the
photography and placing of still shots.
A form of Pilot study is arranged with a group of members of the
public also with film critiques who watch a sample of the film so the
producers can receive feedback, this can assist in improving the film
and whether or not to take scene out or re-shoot scenes.
Hollywood film producers need to know if a profit will be
accomplished from a developing film, producers think carefully of
when would be the best time to release specific films for example
the “Avengers” (2012 directed by Joss Whedon) was released to the
UK April 2012 this would be the time of summer holidays meaning
the younger generation to which the film appeals the most to will
have free time to go to the cinema to watch it. While members of
the public of a older age can also enjoy the release as holidays from
work would have been arranged, overall this film was deemed to be
a successful film for 2012, arranging the most convenient release
date was crucial for the films success.
Advertisement plays a role in a films awareness to the public the
use of internet makes advertisement more diverse with the use of
social network site adding to this range. Using methods such as
posters are still effective to this day also by placing advertisement
near bus stops assists in the films marketing as members of the
public from different ages and lifestyles can be made aware of the
upcoming film.
Third party companies such as Burger King and Mc Donalds also
play a role in advertisement, Mc Donalds is the largest to distributers
on the planet in the food industry, they have a “Happy Meal” this is
mainly designed for the younger generation to be part of a
upcoming films release.

companies also items in relation with the film for example “The
Amazing Spiderman” (July 2012 directed by Mark Webb) since its
release the film has sprung a franchise with toys, games, another
television series has been created also has add more success to
Marvels year of film as the film “Avengers” (2012 directed by Joss
