2. WHAT IS FILM DISTRIBUTION?
Film Distribution is the process of making a film available for
audiences to view it. A film distributor completes this task, being the
ones who control the marketing strategy for the film, decide the media
by which a film is to be exhibited or made available for viewing, and
also are the ones who set the release date too. The film may be
exhibited directly to the public either through a movie theatre,
television or personal home viewing.
3. WHAT IS FILM
DISTRIBUTION’S
ASSOCIATION?
Film Distributors' Association Ltd. (FDA) is an organisation for
theatrical film distributors in the UK - the companies that release films
for UK cinema audiences. FDA was originally established in London in
1915 and works with many individuals, companies and organisations.
FDA believes that film is an influential, dynamic part of the UK's
creative economy so they are engaged in the industry's on-going
efforts to battle film piracy and theft, being members of the Federation
Against Copyright Theft (FACT) and the Alliance for IP.

Trailers are put together before the film is released
to give a sense of what the film will be about, and
to also tell people that this film is being made and
that it exists. It will show a section of clips, giving a
rough story line and it will also show all the main
characters that star in the film, being useful if there
are popular, famous people starring in the film as
it will hype up the film and get people interested in
it.
Posters are also made to get the word out
to an audience, showing the audience
who is featured in the film, the date of
release and then what the film is called,
wanting to build up a large audience prior
to its release, as this will help the film to
be more successful. I have also included a
screenshot of an interview for this film with
the main, most popular actors starring in
this film, as it is an interview with Google
so will help to promote and distribute the
film.
6. THEORY OF EVERYTHING
DISTRIBUTION
The companies that helped distribute the Theory of Everything consisted of
Universal Pictures and Focus Features, working together in order to result
in a more successful outcome considering that the Theory of Everything
isn't a blockbuster film. This film was premiered at the Toronto International

both a producer and distributor for its own films and a distributor for

drama that the film is about, and also the
characters and actors staring in the film.
You can also see an interview that is being
held with the main actors a couple days
after the release of the film, helping to
promote the films as it generates exposure
of the Theory of Everything from Variety’s
