1. Provide a unique opportunity for 8th grade students to give back to our
community and increase engagement in new and exciting areas
2. Expose students to a plethora of opportunities throughout the
community to continue to volunteer while attending PHS (high school
requirement)
3. Give students a platform for presenting their learning experiences with
peers through research
3. 8TH GRADE PROJECT
Expectations:
PALMS 8th graders will volunteer their time in the surrounding
community on a day of service.
This field experience will take place on:
Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Students are expected to remain professional while on site and
complete the tasks requested by their hosts.

April 23 (Mon) • Pick locations in mentoring
May 14-17 • Mentoring workshops

9. HAYCOCK MINISTRIES
Background: Haycock Ministries is an organization that promotes leadership
through team building exercises, camping experiences, and outdoor trainings.
Volunteer activities:
● Clean/maintain trails
● Prepare site for upcoming season
● Open to 25 students
10. LAST CHANCE RANCH
Background: Last Chance Ranch Animal Rescue is a public volunteer, non-profit
organization rescuing and rehabilitating horses and domestic companion
animals. Last Chance Ranch Animal Rescue is dedicated to promoting and
educating the public to humane and responsible treatment of horses, ponies,
donkeys, and mules (equines) and other domestic companion animals including
dogs and cats.
Volunteer activities:
● Clean/maintain kennels
● Organize food supplies
● Open to 15 students
11. SILVER CREEK ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION
Background: SCAA is a multi-generational organization that was founded over 50
years ago to establish, promote and maintain baseball and softball opportunities
for the children of Springfield Township and the Upper Bucks County Region of
Pennsylvania.
Volunteer activities:
● Clean/maintain fields
● Open to 25 students
12. LORD’S PANTRY
Background: The Lord’s Pantry is a volunteer organization dedicated to helping
feed those in need in Bucks County. The Lord’s Pantry is dedicated to helping
others.
Volunteer activities:
● Restock shelves/supplies
● Organize goods/resources
● Open to 12 students
13. OTTSVILLE FIRE COMPANY
Background: The Ottsville Volunteer Fire Company is a 100% volunteer
organization providing 24/7/365 emergency response to portions of Bucks
County including Tinicum Township, Nockamixon Township, Bedminster
Township, and Haycock Township. They are also ready to respond to any of their
neighboring communities to assist in any way they can.
Volunteer activities:
● Clean/maintain equipment
● Open to 20 students
14. PALMS NATIVE GARDEN
Background: The Palisades Middle School Native Garden offers a variety of fruits
and vegetables to the Palisades community, as well as native plants that attract
bees, butterflies, and other wildlife.
Volunteer activities:
● Plant flowers
● Weed
● Lay mulch
● Open to 10 students
15. OUTLYING ACRES ALPACA FARM
Background: Outlying Acres is a growing farm that creates award winning fleece,
hand spun and mill spun yarn and roving, all in Pennsylvania. They also offer
many wool, mohair, pygora, and alpaca products, as well as handmade fiber art
items.
Volunteer activities:
● Organize materials
● Clean/maintain alpaca pens
● Open to 20 students
16. TINICUM CIVICS ART ASSOCIATION
Background: The Tinicum Arts Festival has been the primary fundraiser for the
Tinicum Civic Association for 67 years. Festival proceeds go to support more
than 30 local, community-based, non-profit organizations that provide cultural
and educational enrichment and emergency services to Tinicum Township and
its neighbors.
Volunteer activities:
● Help prepare for upcoming arts festival
● Open to 6 students
17. DELAWARE VALLEY VETERANS HOME
Background: Spend time with Veterans.
Volunteer activities:
● Listen to Veterans tell their story.
● Play Bingo.
● Feed Birds
● Open to 20 students
