Editor's Notes

  1. Collaboration with Environmental Department, Outdoor Adventur Education (OAE) Department and National Education and Social Studies (NESS) Department. With Environmental Department, staff are involved in Litter Picking and Weeds Eradication programmes at Lower Pierce Reservoir, all pupils are involved in “Cleanest Classroom Competition”. With OAE Department, P5 Camp and P6 Kayaking, Mount Rinjani and Mount Kinabalu-expedition cum service learning. With NESS Department, P4 Chinatown Heritage Tour
  2. The Dark Blue Ring on the outside indicates the standard activities for all pupils and staff The Ring in the middle indicates activities for different groups of pupils and teachers, which are compatible with their ability. The Core indicates CIP by HGPians using 3H
  3. Objective : Pupils should be able to define the term ‘recycle’ and list at least three examples of recyclable materials. Duration : 2 periods (To be completed by Term 1) Level : P1 and P2 Subject : Art and Craft
  4. Term I Week 8 Teachers to brief pupils using PowerPoint slides provided by Restroom Association of Singapore. (Slides can be found in shared folder MT/CIP/RAS). Term I Week 9 Teachers to plan with pupils on what they can do to keep their adopted toilets clean. To roster pupils to be in charge of the cleanliness of the toilets. Term II Week 1/2 Teachers together with students are to design a poster and reminders such as “flash the toilet after use” etc.
  5. Background information on Yong-en Care Centre A non-profit voluntary welfare organization officially established in 1996 A member of National Council of Social Services and a member of the Central Fund Registry, which allows tax deduction for cash donations given The project started in 2003 and HGP took part since 2005. Donations will: Support the Chinatown needy, both the elderly and the young regardless of race, language or religion.
  6. PERTAPIS is an approved charitable organisation registered under the Charities Act. Their welfare services include children’s home, senior citizens’ home, Bukit Batok hostel and halfway house. Their welfare programmes emphasize the importance of education among the child-residents to ensure they do not miss the opportunity for a better future. They do the same with other residents by helping them to cultivate a sense of purpose and self-respect by providing them the opportunities to learn a trade/skill useful to them when they leave the rehabilitation centers. The Pertapis Children’s Home provides a loving and wholesome home for the emotional, social, physical, educational and spiritual development of the children who have been separated from their families so as to enable them to grow to their full potentials.”
  7. In conjunction with Children’s Day, the school is working with Pertapis Children’s Home to encourage our pupils to think of the underprivileged and to recycle specific toys that they may no longer play with. The Home, which was opened in April 1993, adopts a developmental programme for school-going children which trains and develops their motor, literacy, coping and study skills. We hope to meet the needs of the children, who are between 4 to 16 years old, at Pertapis Children’s Home by providing them with items that they would need in their cognitive and physical development. We would like to appeal to all parents and guardians to support us in this project by contributing the following items: Educational games (Both new and old items in good condition are welcome.) Examples: Lego, board games, building blocks and flash cards Outdoor games equipment (Both new and old items in good condition are welcome.) Examples: Table tennis equipment, badminton rackets and shuttlecocks, soccer balls and basketballs A collection booth will be set up in the canteen on the following dates and times
  8. Kampung Kiau School at Sabah before climbing Mt Kinabaru. 02 June 2008. Sekolah Rendah Pelambangan A day stay with the villagers. They cook a meal for our pupils. We play games with them, donated stationery, toys and clothes to them.
