This is a presentation of the survey results I attained of ten (a mixture of demographic and psychographic) questions regarding my target audience for my music magazine.
2. Question #1
This is a demographic
question which I used to
see if my target audience
was male or female. From
the results I have gathered
within my survey it appears
my audience will be mainly
female since 13 of the 21
results I received were
female.
3. Question #2
The majority of my responses said
that they consume music mostly
from iTunes purchases which
indicates that this is popular and I
shall use this as part of my
magazine to interact with the
audience for example giving away
iTunes vouchers. My survey
evidently shows that Spotify is the
least favourite option for consuming
music so downloads onto hardware
are more popular than streaming
online with my audience.
4. Question #3
Question 3 of my survey shows that the
most preferred brand out of a list of 7
brands was Apple. Again this links with
Question 2 of my survey meaning that my
audience found Apple and its products
are the most popular. I will ensure that
this brand is incorporated into my
magazine as this is most favourable by
my target audience and may make my
magazine look more appealing due to the
fact this is what the audience want to see.
5. Question #4
Out of 21 results my survey
collected, I asked how often people
attended live musical performances
and the survey showed a mixed
result. 8 people said they attend live
musical performances once a year
while 7 people said they never
attend live musical performances
therefore I have chosen not to
include a live musical performance
as part of a promotional offer within
my magazine but will incorporate
these ideas within the feature stories.
.
6. Question #5
These results indicate that the majority
of people are prepared to pay £2.50-
£3.00 for an R&B magazine. I realise
this is understandable because of the
target audience being younger adults
and students who don’t have a large
wage. Some of the results show people
are prepared to pay up to £3.60 for the
magazine also however I have chosen
to set the price as £3.00 to suit the
audience to a larger scale.
7. Question #6
It seems that the majority of my
audience read about music on the
internet every day or at least twice
a week. An idea which I think would
be good for my magazine is to
include an online version of the
magazine so that the audience can
pay to read it online and subscribe
to posts if they prefer using the
internet rather than a real life copy.
8. Question #7
It seems from my survey that the most
preferred artist from the list of names is
Eminem and the second favourite is
Chris Brown therefore as a result of this
survey question I now know I should
include these artists within my magazine.
Nobody who took the survey chose Tyga
as their most preferred artist therefore I
now know he is their least favourite artist.
9. Question #8
85% of the respondents are students at
college which means they will be more
interested in younger artists like themselves.
I think this is why it is a suitable choice to
involve the internet within my magazine as
this is the more modern technology and
software used by the younger generation.
Also, they will have a low wage salary in
comparison to those with a high employment
status such as those with degrees etc. I will
take their age into consideration regarding
interests and price.
10. Question #9
The survey shows that the majority of
the audience are of ages 17-20 and
i'm guessing that the rest are around
16 years old since they are college
students. This means that my target
audience is younger people like
teenagers and students therefore I
must ensure I use the appropriate
content within my magazine.
11. Question #10
There is a mixed result regarding
the average household income per
year of my target audience
therefore I feel as though charging
£3 for the price of my magazine is
appropriate and suits all readers
regardless of their income as this in
my opinion is quite a cheap price.
